After Ariana left, Max fell on top of the bed, which she still needed to clean up. Getting up again she took of the duvet and stripped it before doing the same thing with her pillow and bedsheet. As she was looking at the bedsheet, she saw a small red spot.
"That's right, I was a virgin until this shit happened with Mr. Jefferson." Max thought. "No wonder I've been a little sore today, and hopefully Mr. Jefferson, nor Ari noticed it." Max kept thinking. "I'm not going to tell him. It would probably just make him feel even worse than he's already doing." Max continued thinking as she put her bedsheets into a bag to be taken for laundry. Once that was done, Max still decided to visit Dana in her room.
"Who is it?" Max heard from the other side when she knocked.
"It's me Max." Max said and a moment later, the door opened, and Dana peaked through the small crack.
"Oh, Max. You're back early." Dana said surprised.
"Am I coming at a bad time?" Max asked since Dana seemed to be hiding behind the door. "Didn't you get my text?" Max asked.
"Ah, yes I got it, but I thought I would have a little bit more time." Dana said.
"Don't worry Dana. Come see me when you are ready. I'll be in my room." Max said getting the hint that Dana likely had someone in her room that shouldn't be there.
"Thanks Max, I owe you one." Dana said before she closed the door.
"Might as well get some of that homework done." Max thought as she walked back to her own room. "I've got world history first thing on Monday morning, might as well start with that one." Max said to herself as she went to get her textbooks and notebook out.
When Max was almost done taking notes from the chapter they were supposed to have read, there was a knock on her door. When Max opened the door, Dana was standing there.
"So, you wanted to talk with me." Dana said as Max opened the door wider to let her in.
"It was more like, my cousin Ariana wanted to talk to you. But she told me that she will be back on Monday for an official meeting instead." Max said as she sat down on her bed while Dana sat on the sofa.
"Oh." Dana said as she got a worried look on her face. "Did something happen that I should know about?" Dana asked.
Seeing Dana get worried Max went over and sat next to her on the sofa.
"No, there is nothing to worry about. It's just that my cousin wants to talk to you about something that happened during the party yesterday." Max said which caused Dana to get a curious look on her face.
"What I'm about to tell you can't leave this room and you can't let anyone else know. Not even Trevor or Juliet." Max said breathing out a heavy sigh.
"Max, did something happen to you at the party?" Dana asked worriedly.
"You can say that, yes." Max said looking at Dana.
"Go on, you can confide in me Max." Dana said. "I won't tell anyone about this conversation." She continued.
"That drink that you gave me." Max started and when Dana looked at her asking to continue. "It was spiked with something and after Mr. Jefferson announced the winner of the contest I've got no recollection of what happened the rest of the night." Max sad as she leaned back on the sofa.
"Oh my god!" Dana whispered. "Oh, I'm so sorry Max. I- I didn't know." Dana said. "I must have left it out of my eyesight a moment too long." She continued. "I never should have given you that drink." Dana said feeling anxious.
"Did you pick that drink up yourself or did someone give it to you?" Max asked. "Sorry, it's just that, my cousin will most likely ask you this question when she gets here on Monday." Max said.
Dana sat silent for a moment, thinking back on what transpired during the party. She'd spent almost the entire time together with Trevor, either dancing, making out or talking. As she was thinking, a picture of a man came forward. Dana could not picture his face, but she does remember that she did not recognise him. At the time, she thought that he was perhaps an old student that's been invited by someone.
"There was a guy." Dana finally said. "He gave me a drink, but I tried to decline it." Dana continued. "In the end I took it, just to get him to leave me alone, and I put it on one of the tables, I thought that I could always try it later and then Trevor gave me a drink and I kind of forgot about it, until I saw you." Dana said turning to look at Max.
"Do you think you would recognise him if you saw him again?" Max asked.
"No, sorry, I don't think so." Dana finally said after some silence. "I could always check with Juliet." Dana said seeing Max panicked face. "I'm not going to mention you." Dana added. "She was super busy taking photographs of the party. Maybe she got a photo of the guy?" Dana said. "Max." Dana said after another moment of silence. "Something tells me that there is more to the story than you just getting drugged." Dana said as she looked at Max.
Max couldn't help but feeling like a deer caught in the headlights. And her face clearly said the same thing since Dana got a curious look on her face.
"There is, isn't it. You can tell me Max. I promise I won't say anything." Dana said again.
"This is strictly staying between the two of us, ok?" Max said and when Dana motioned for Max to continue, she did.
"This morning when I woke up. I didn't wake up alone." Max said feeling her cheeks going warm with embarrassment.
"Way to go Max!" Dana said giving Max a slight nudge on her shoulder.
"You won't say that when you hear who I woke up next to." Max said as she put her head in her hands before collecting herself again.
"Who was it?" Dana asked.
"Promise me you won't freak out." Max said as she looked at the door and then back to Dana.
"I promise." Dana said.
"This morning, I woke up naked, next to." Max said swallowing her nerves. "Next to Mr. Jefferson." Max finally managed to say. "And he was also naked." Max quickly added seeing Danas choked face.
For the next hour Max told Dana everything that had happened that day from the moment Max had woken up.
"Did your cousin mention when on Monday she would be here?" Dana asked as she prepared to leave.
"No, but she will likely call before they leave Portland." Max said.
"They?" Dana asked.
"I'm assuming that my cousin is bringing someone with her to make this an official statement." Max said. "It's not every day that both a teacher and a student get drugged at the same event." She continued. "I'll let you know when I know, ok." Max said as she said goodbye to Dana and then locking her door.
Looking back to her desk she saw that she still had her math homework to finish. Not really feeling like it, Max instead sat on the sofa and strummed a few chords on her guitar, until that too got boring. "Might as well finish it." Max thought and went back to her desk.
