Lucy is now 8, her group of friends has changed a bit but Lee and Cue are still around. She doesn't spend as much time with them over the summer as they are all working, stuck looking after family or going to camp or summer school. There's still a couple of big events that involve them, her friends go through more during the summer then her family does. We get a glimpse at what awful situations neglect can put children in through her friends, from abuse to abandonment to drug abuse and death. Lucy starts to witness it all and is something that will continue as she gets older. During the summer Lucy is busy helping Debbie with daycare though Debbie usually just puts her in time out, practicing her music and busking. The nights are spent running around the neighbourhood unsupervised while Fiona works. There a few more Grammy stories and some more Monica stories as well.

Most of the chapters follow the same timeline as the shows episodes and not much has been changed around, somethings are missed because it's from the POV of Lucy but most of its there or at least talked about.

Chapter 10 –

Monica's trying to be a good mom but that comes crashing down when she and Frank arrive with bags of drugs to take Lucy to her music lesson. When Lucy needs Fiona the most Fiona is dealing with an angry Lip, crushed hopes and a depressed Monica. Both decided to take a deep breath and deal with all that emotion and hurt by themselves and simply continue on. (Probably should have a TW, it's been hinted at a couple of times now. It's one of the things the show didn't really go into but horrifically it is something a lot of unsupervised, poor, forgotten kids experience. It's not specifically mentioned and it's definitely not described in any detail but again it is hinted at)

Chapter 11 – That thanksgiving (based on episode 11)

All their money is gone and Monica's still in bed. The Gallagher kids try their best to regroup and keep going. Carl gets something for thanksgiving lunch though Jimmy comes in with something even better. Fi cooks up an amazing meal and then drags Monica out of her hidey hole to enjoy it with them. And I think we all know what happens next. This one's pretty similar to the series, apart from the fact that Lucy is in it which expands some of the dialogue and ideas. Lucy happens to witness the event as well. (TW, self harm/suicide attempt)

Chapter 12 – surf and turf

After a night in Fiona's bed everyone wakes up to deal with what happened, and as always they all just continue of with their lives. Jimmy invites Fiona and the kids out to dinner with his family, Carl and Lucy make the most of this and behave in exactly the way you would expect them to. Debbie is crying in bed when they get back, Lucy brings her some cake and comfort and finally Lip comes home.
