06/11/1996.

Tuesday.

Hermione Granger was sitting on a cliff near the Black Lake and reading a book about 6th grade potions.

She was concentrating too hard on her book when she heard a voice behind her. She turned her head and looked in the direction of the voice to see Draco Malfoy standing a few meters away.

She didn't do or say anything at first, just turned back to her book, but was still careful to keep her guard up.

"Did you invade this place too, Mudblood?"

Hermione didn't bother to answer. But she moved her hand under the book towards her wand on her arm.

"Oh, you don't answer me anymore?"

"Go away, Malfoy." she said, grumbling.

"Look at my face while I'm talking."

Hermione pretended to continue reading her book, but actually followed his movements. She could clearly hear him approaching quickly, and she could see him out of the corner of her eye.

"I'm telling you, you idiot!"

Finally, she raised her head and looked at his face. "I don't see any other fool here other than you, weasel."

She knew something was coming.

And so it was.

She had pulled out her wand almost at the same time as him and blocked the spell coming from him. Suddenly, she threw her book aside, got off the rock she was sitting on, and pointed her wand at him. "Go away, Malfoy."

"You're the one who's going to leave here."

"This place is not yours, I have the right to move freely."

"No there's not!" he shouted and raised his wand again. "Expelliarmus!"

"Protego!" She quickly blocked the spell with the shield. "Ascendio!"

He quickly blocked the spell. "Boxposio!" He sent a new spell.

She blocked the spell with a shield. "Colloshoo!" She sent the spell.

After Malfoy blocked the spell, they began to circle each other.

"Get out of here, Malfoy, before we both get in trouble." They were both pointing their wands at each other and looking at each other with anger.

While someone was trying to cause more permanent damage, someone was trying to make the other person more defenseless.

"You're the one who's going to leave here. You and your two stupid friends." They were still circling each other. "Dawod!" Malfoy continued the duel by shouting.

"Protego!" She blocked the spell. "In the bomb!" She shouted and sent an explosion spell somewhere nearby. In fact, she didn't intend to do any harm to him, she just wanted to disrupt his concentration and neutralize him.

Malfoy escaped from the smoke and dirt. "Distrain!" he yell.

She quickly neutralized the spell. "We're not going anywhere Malfoy, you'd better keep that in mind." She made a magic gesture with her wand. "Ascendio!" she yell.

He blocked the spell. "Bombarda!" He shouted and sent an explosion spell. The spell hit the ground, sending smoke and dirt into the air. "Expelliarmus!"

Hermione coughed, trying to get away from the smoke and dirt. When her concentration broke, she realized that the wand in her hand was suddenly gone. When she focused, she found her wand in his hand.

"You've held on too long, Mudblood!" he said with breathless satisfaction.

Hermione had just opened her mouth when she thought she saw darkness near the school. She turned her eyes back to him. "What happened, Malfoy? Who hurt your pride? Are you looking for pride that isn't around?"

Draco's face darkened. "Brachiabindo!" he shouted and tied her body with invisible ropes. "Even your dreams can never reach where my pride is."

Unable to move her arms or any other part, Hermione was worried but tried not to show it. She could only move her feet and hope to escape. "Cowardly bastard." she said, unable to hold her tongue.

"Ascendio!"

Hermione felt herself flying higher and then beginning to fall.

She had screamed instinctively, expecting any pain. But instead of pain, she felt like she hit the water hard. Her anxiety rose even more as she was unable to make any preparations or fully catch her breath.

As she began to sink towards the bottom, she began to struggle to rise to the surface. She couldn't use her hands or arms, and no matter how hard she struggled with her feet, it was useless.

The longer she held her breath, the more her lungs burned. All she wanted was to breathe and she knew if she did that she would die.

Her heart was beating like crazy in her chest.

She was going to die here.

Severus Snape was wandering around the grounds outside the school, taking advantage of his free time. After some time, he started walking towards the school to go to his office.

Until he heard voices...

Instinctively he turned towards the direction of the sound but couldn't see anything. He put his hand on the tip of his wand but did not remove it. He began to move forward slowly and was careful about the dangers.

The voices were distant, but still, of course, attentive.

He had been walking for a minute when he finally saw some lights and shouts. Near the Black Lake, he saw two people shouting and sending spells at each other.

He took a deep breath and cursed the fools. He started walking quickly and was already thinking about the punishment he would give them.

He saw that at first they both easily blocked the spells, but then they sent out explosion spells, albeit at the ground.

When he saw the seriousness of the situation, he started running.

As he got closer to them, he felt like he was getting to know them. He sighed when he saw that someone was Draco Malfoy. What was that he idiot doing here?

He saw that the person on the other end was Granger.

At that very moment, Malfoy took her wand with a spell, cast a binding spell, and threw her into the air, causing her to fall into the Black Lake.

Damn it.

"Malfoy!" he shouted, finally finding his voice. His anger flared even more when he saw Draco turn around with a start. How dare that he fool? "You fool!"

"P-Professor-"

"Shut up, idiot!" With a quick and silent spell, he unbuttoned his robe and threw it into the ground. He climbed onto the pier and gracefully jumped into the lake.

The air was already getting colder and he was startled when he felt the cool water on his body. But while he was swimming without paying attention to this, he noticed her body in the distance.

As his blood froze, he began to swim faster. Finally he took her small and frail body in his arms. He continued to swim towards the surface with his legs and one arm. When they put their heads out of the water, he instinctively took a deep breath.

This time he started swimming towards the shore and hoped that he was not too late. When he reached the shore, he pulled her one meter away on the stones and soil and laid her down. He knelt down and put his hand to her neck and checked her pulse.

She had a pulse but it was weak.

He instantly pulled out his wand and muttered a spell to open her airway. While he watched her wheezing and breathing hard, he removed the binding spell around her with another spell.

"Miss Granger?" he said breathlessly.

Hermione couldn't answer as she coughed and spit out some of the water in her mouth. Her body was shaking with cold and she was in and out of consciousness. "C-cold-"

"Calm down, Miss Granger." He took his robe and wrapped it tightly around her. He took her in his arms like a bride, stood up and started walking towards the school. He looked at the boy still standing behind him. "Draco, go to my office now and wait for me there!" he shouted angrily.

He felt his anger flare inside him as he hurried to school. He didn't like the girl in his arms when she first arrived because she was waving too much. But as time went by, he started to really admire her intelligence.

Because of his role as a Death Eater, he had to treat her badly, but when no one was around or secretly he would try to show his admiration for her intelligence.

Okay, maybe over time this admiration had turned into something else and something he couldn't define, but that didn't really matter right now.

When he entered the school and saw the shocked looks of the students, he paid no attention to any of them. "Someone inform Madam Pomfrey that I'm taking patients!" he shouted, causing several students to run. "Someone inform Professor McGonagall and Headmaster Dumbledore!" He caused some people to run again.

He tried to keep his breathing under control as he climbed the winding stairs. He turned his entire focus to the girl in his arms. She was very pale and shaking.

When he finally entered the hospital wing, he saw Pomfrey already getting ready. "She fell into the lake, I had to open her airway, her pulse was weak." he said as he gently laid her on the bed.

"I will handle it." She said and took him take away and drew the bed curtains.

As Severus stood there, breathless and wet, he turned his head when he heard whispers behind him. "Go away!" He almost shouted, causing the students to run away.

As he stood there alone for a moment, he heard footsteps coming down the hall. He turned his head to see Dumbledore and Mcgonagall entering.

"Severus, what happened?" asked Albus.

"Students said was running down the hall with Miss Granger in his arms." said Minerva anxiously. "What happened?"

"I saw Mss. Granger and Mr. Malfoy dueling near the Black Lake. Until I got there, Malfoy bound her with a spell and bewitched her to fall towards the Black Lake. She was in bad shape when I pulled her out of the lake."

While Minerva muttered harsh things under her breath, Albus remained quite calm and thoughtful.

"What's the situation now?" Minerva asked sternly.

"I don't know."

Albus cleared his throat slightly. "So Severus, about Malfoy-"

"I will handle it." He quickly left and walked towards the dungeons, ignoring the other students who continued to be shocked.

There was someone he had to hold accountable.

Hermione's eyes were starting to darken, her brain felt like it was about to explode, and she finally opened her mouth and tried to breathe.

She closed his eyes.

She didn't hear voices coming from the lake or see someone being pulled onto her chest or being brought to the surface.

When she felt that she was laid down on a hard surface and the pressure on her throat decreased, she started breathing hard and coughing.

"Miss Granger?"

When she heard a harsh, breathless voice, she didn't realize who it was because she was incredibly cold. "C-cold-"

"Calm down, Miss Granger."

She felt something hugging her body and someone being held in their arms. She heard that voice yelling at someone and almost running.

As she drifted in and out of consciousness she could hear that person yelling about 'Pomfrey, Dumbledore and Mcgonagall'.

Then she felt herself being gently laid down somewhere.

Someone was touching her face, neck and muttering something. She couldn't help but moan when she felt her mouth open.

"Miss Granger, drink this now please." She heard a woman's voice.

Hermione swallowed instinctively as liquid spilled into her mouth. After swallowing a few more potions, she felt left alone.

"Sleep, Miss Granger."

And Hermione slept.

Severus was very angry.

He opened the door of his office with such force, went inside and closed he with such force that the sound coming from the hinge was almost heard.

He saw Draco jump in fear at the sound.

Severus grabbed Draco's collar so quickly that Draco convulsed. "You fool, what did you think you were doing?!" he shouted angrily.

Draco trembled a little with fear. "S-she attacked me." he said quietly.

He almost hissed as he shook him hard. "Don't lie, Draco!" He said and pushed him back and took his hand away in order not to go further and succumb to his anger.

"I-I was going to save her-"

"She was about to die!"

"I swear-"

"You could get expelled for this." he said, lowering his voice and trying to control his anger.

Draco's face grew paler. "Will I be expelled?" he asked in fear.

"I don't know, that's for the Headmaster to decide." he said and noticed the wand in his hand. Hermione's wand. "But I have to give you a separate punishment."

"What kind of punishment?" he said timidly.

"You will be under surveillance with Filch for 1 month."

Draco wanted to object, but when he saw her gaze, he fell silent. "Yes sir."

"Give me the wand." he said, extending his hand. Taking the wand from Draco's hand, he pointed to the door. "Now get out."

Draco half-ran out of the office.

After the door closed, he just stood there. Drops of water flowing from all over his body were forming a small puddle on the ground.

He rubbed his face with his free hand and tried to slow down his still racing heart. He was worried about the young woman in the hospital wing, and he hated that feeling.

He put his hand down and decided to go to their private room to change. When he took out his wand and pointed it at the empty wall, a door appeared in the wall. Once inside, the door closed automatically.

He went up the stairs to his private room and went to his bedroom. While he placed Granger's wand on the bed, he cast the spell with his own wand and took off all his clothes, including his boxers.

Even little Severus was frozen.

He called a towel from the bathroom and tried to dry his whole body and hair. He opened his closet and took out spare clothes of his normal clothes. He wore boxers, socks, black trousers, white shirt, black frock redingot, shoes and black robes.

Black robe?

He remembered wrapping Granger in his previous robes and leaving it in the hospital wing.

He took Granger's wand and walked into the living room and sat in the armchair in front of the fireplace. He waved his own wand, lit the fireplace, and placed it on his arm.

He looked at Granger's wand in his hand and began to examine it slowly. It was a beautiful wand and he could feel the energy radiating from it.

He was going to visit her this evening.

To give her wand...

A few hours later.

Hermione groaned as she regained consciousness, opening her eyes as she tried to understand what was happening. Her head and chest ached, and her mouth was dry.

She blinked and looked around and saw a black robe. While her eyebrows were furrowed, before she could think anything about it, she heard a sound.

"Miss Granger, you're awake."

She turned her head and looked at the witch approaching her bed. "Madame Pomfrey."

"How are you feeling?" she asked as she waved her wand over her.

"My head and chest hurt a little."

"It's natural." She took two potions from the table on the side. "Drink these." She opened the lids of the potions and gave her a slow drink. "The potion will take effect soon."

"Thank you." she said, grimacing at the taste of the potion.

"You're welcome darling." she said as she tidied up the surroundings with her wand. "By the way, Mr. Potter and the Weasly brothers came, but I didn't let them in."

She nodded slowly. "Okay, so when can I leave?"

"You need to stay until the morning."

As she nodded again and woman turned to leave, her eyes fell on the black robe again. It was a very familiar robe. "Madame Pomfrey."

The woman stopped and turned to her. "Yes?"

"Who brought me here?" She asked as she turned to her.

"Professor Snape."

Confirming her thoughts, she just nodded and watched her leave, closing the curtain. When she was alone there, she turned to her side and watched the robe.

Professor Snape saved her.

Professor Snape of all people!

The hero...

She took her bottom lip between her teeth for a moment and then reached out and took the robe between her fingers. She wanted to touch this robe for a long time, but of course she couldn't.

But now she had touched the robe.

It was dry, high quality, heavy and gorgeous.

In fact, she was a little afraid of him in her early years. But in her fourth year, her sense of fear towards him began to change.

In her fifth year, when he saved her from Dolohov's spell, she started to feel that she was in love with him. At first she thought it was a temporary thing, but her feelings had not changed this year either.

It started to increase even more.

She was in love with Severus Snape...
