Buffy sat for a long staring at nothing after Xander and Cordelia had left. The man who'd torn into her no longer considered her a friend and she could understand why. Willow, someone that mattered to both of them had been hurt because of her. Again. The last time Xander had threatened to kill her if Willow died because of her and Buffy had believed him. Xander had never supported her relationship with Angel and she'd attributed it to jealousy, but if she was being honest, it was also because Xander had always believed Angelus was still in there and just recently he'd been proven right, when Angel had fought Eyghon and they'd seen Angelus. A fact she'd chosen to ignore and now they were all paying the price for it, Xander and Giles more than her. No one she loved had been killed. Yet. First Ms. Calendar, than Xander's parents and now Willow's life hung in the balance. But she knew Angelus was just warming up, it's what he did when fixated on someone, killed everyone around them first, before coming for the main target. She had to stop him before he went after her mother.
It was time she did something about Angelus. After all, she was the Vampire Slayer, wasn't she? She winched as she remembered Xander calling her a vampire layer, he'd probably regret calling her that later. But the rest of what he'd said? He'd meant every word, she had no doubt about that. Mind made up, Buffy got out of bed and began dressing, she was nearly recovered from the flu and in the shock and horror of hearing about Willow, she forgot that there might be something in the hospital killing kids, Willow hadn't had a chance to research with Giles before Angelus had grabbed her, not that Buffy knew that and Giles hadn't been to see her today as he'd ended up researching by himself. She made her way down to the reception desk on the first floor and asked where the waiting room for the emergency room was. She was given directions and found Xander, Cordelia, Oz and a woman she didn't recognize.
"Any word?" She asked.
"No." Xander said shortly, without looking at her. She could tell by the way he clamped his jaw that he wanted to say more, but held back, likely because of Oz. Oz didn't need to see Xander tearing into Buffy.
"I'm going out." She told them, knowing they'd understand she was going after Angelus.
"When?" Oz asked.
"As soon as I know Willow's condition." She answered.
"Good." Oz too, refused to look at her, the normally stoic little guitar player was struggling, she could see that in his reddened eyes, she hoped he could keep Wolfie under control, the last thing they needed was a werewolf rampaging through the hospital. It wasn't too much longer before a doctor came out to give them a report.
"She has third degree burns on her scalp, she'll need skin grafts." They were told. "The cut on her face requires stitching and will leave a scar, plastic surgery can help minimize it." The doctor hesitated before continuing. "She's been violated." Oz made it out of the exit door before Wolfie manifested and a mournful howl was heard that startled the doctor and Lupe. Xander bolted after him and for a split second Buffy wondered what the Hell he thought he could do to a werewolf before racing after him. Only to pull up short as she saw Xander grab Wolfie and shove him onto the ground and actually growl at him. Wolfie snapped back at him and Xander shoved his face into the ground and growled again. Wolfie went limp and whimpered. Buffy could hear Xander's voice.
"Get it together, Oz, she needs you, not Wolfie." And to Buffy's astonishment, Oz changed back and the two men who each loved Willow in their own way slowly stood up. Oz kept his gaze down, Buffy had no idea what to make of what she'd just seen. "Go get changed and come back and see her when you can control yourself. You wolf out on her and you'll answer to me, understand?" Xander's voice had changed to a rumble and if Buffy could have seen his face she would have seen his eyes had flashed green. She saw Oz nod, head still lowered.
"I'm sorry." Oz murmured.
"I understand what you're feeling, Oz, I'm feeling it too. But Willow needs you and you need to keep it together. We will have vengeance, I promise." Xander put his hand on Oz's shoulder and squeezed. "You take care of her heart and her spirit, I'll take care of the vengeance." Oz raised his eyes and locked his gaze on Xander's for a moment before nodding and heading to his van where his gym bag was and changed clothes before heading back inside.
"You just going to stand there all night, Buffy or are you coming with?"
"Xander, Angelus is my responsibility, you need to stay out of it, you'll just get hurt."
"Screw you, bitch, you can't stop me from going after him and I meant what I said, you get in my way and I will run right over you." He headed for Lupe's car, having gotten the keys from her earlier. "Either get in the car or try to keep up, because I am not stopping until he is dust."
Buffy got in the car and a silent Oz watched the two drive off, knowing Xander was now an unstoppable force of nature. "Make it hurt, Alpha." He headed back into the hospital, his Alpha had given him orders and he was going to follow them.
