Inside the I.M.P's office, the boss imp rolls his eyes at his two employees. Moxxie has his head in a handbook while Millie drinks from her coffee mug. Loona sits at her space, looking at her phone blankly.
Blitzo shrugs his shoulders at his male employee, "Do I really have to?"
Moxxie nods his head, looking up from the book, "Yes, sir. You do. It states right here, interns are required to be given more days off than your more advanced employees. Especially if they're younger."
Millie nods in agreement, "And Buddy has been working his tail off lately! Hasn't been given a day off yet neither."
Just then, the mentioned hybrid entered the office, "Hey guys! Uh... What's going on here? I heard my name."
Blitzo rolls his eyes before standing up, "Okay SO. Because you're an intern, I HAVE to give you a day off." He gestures for Loona to open a portal to Earth, which she does with a shrug.
Buddy tilts his head, "You do?"
The boss waves his arms dramatically, "Yeah! Yeah, I know. Threw our whole f-king game off! I can be cruel and make you work today BUT! I decided not too." He flashes him a smug smile, "You're welcome."
The hybrid smiles back at him, "Oh! Really? Well, thanks, Bossman!" He waves to Moxxie and Millie right before they both jump through the portal.
Blitzo rolls his eyes but with a smile this time, "Yeah, sure. Don't mention it, kid." He lingers in the portal while waving his hand at his intern, "Go do... Whatever it is you do when you're alone!"
Buddy practically nods with his whole upper body, "Uh, okay! I will, Bossman!" He then excitedly opens the door before walking outside the office...
Meanwhile, Loona looks down at her phone, texting her old friend yet again, 'So... When can I meet the family?'
Mellz texted her back quickly, 'Oh gosh, hello! You can meet them whenever you want! I'm sure they'll like you!'
She tilts her head at her friend's text, "Oh yeah? Hm..." She then shrugs her shoulders, "Eh, well. Beats just sitting in here the whole day." "Won't she be surprised."
The wolf then follows her friend outside the door, leaving the office completely alone... With the portal open...
...
Buddy begins to walk down the street, now in his more casual clothes. Being the orange and white shirt with the upside down red heart on the chest and black pants. He looks down at his phone with a shrug, sending a text to his friend, 'Soooo, I got the day off today. Are you interested in hanging out today?'
Eventually he got a response from the bird demon, 'Of course! Anything to excuse myself from these boring lessons. Meet at Stylish Occults?'
With a smile, he agrees and makes his way towards the taxidermy shop. Before long, the girl owl meets him there with a smile on her own face.
Octavia shrugs her shoulders once she stops, "So... What are your plans for today? Up for another round of watching taxidermy?"
Buddy shrugs back at her, "Hmm, not too sure. Maybe! But I was thinking of taking us to go joyriding today."
The princess tilts her head at him, "Joy riding?"
The hybrid nods back at her, "Yeah, it's when you take a car and go on a fun ride around town." He omitted the part where the car is normally stolen. He still smiles at her, "It's both fun and liberating, I swear."
The owlette plays with her fingers, "I've... Never driven a car before."
The half succubus squints at her, "Really? The pretty princess with all her riches... Never learned how to drive?"
Octavia shakes her head, "No. Mother always says that we have people for that kind of stuff."
Buddy folds his arms before his lips form into a teasing smile, "I see, so you always do what your mom says?"
The princess blushes with a small squawk, "What, no! Well, maybe... Wait a minute." She then points at him, "...You're teasing me, aren't you?"
The hybrid nods his head, "There we go! Now, you're getting it!" His smile turns gentle, less teasing, "Hey, don't worry about it. How about I teach you instead? In exchange, you can show me how to play the guitar or something."
Octavia ponders with her fingers at her chin, "Hmm... But wait a minute..." She then blinks, "You're part succubus but you don't know how to play the guitar?" She smiles smugly, hoping to tease him back.
Buddy shrugs his shoulders with a smile, "Nope! Not at all!" He then smirks back at her, "Okay so here's the deal, how about... I teach you how to drive and you teach me how to play guitar?"
The owl raises an eyebrow at him, "You really want to teach me how to drive? Why?"
The hybrid practically jumps in front of her, "Because driving is equal to freedom! You can go wherever you want without someone telling you what to do!"
The princess smiles widely at him, "That's what playing the guitar is like! It's liberating!"
Buddy flaps his wings briefly, "Now you're really getting it, Octavia!" He folds his arms again, "So, why don't you show me how to play?"
The owlette smiles back at him, "Okay then, Buddy! You're on!"
The half succubus stands with his shoulders squared, "I see we reached an agreement! Come on, Octavia! Follow me!" He walks off with the princess walking next to him. Both with huge smiles on their faces...
...
Meanwhile, Loona had made her way to her friend's house down the street. While it was a ways away, she found herself a a huge purple mansion, lined with gold... She tilted her head before knocking on the door, "Damn, I knew Mellz mentioned she worked with some Goetias but I wasn't expecting this."
Soon enough, the smaller Hellhound answers the door and her eyes widen, "Loona!" She then began to whisper, "Oh my Beelzebub! What are you doing here?"
Loona shrugs her shoulders, "Eh, had the day off. Decided to visit you and the rugrats at your fancy home. You did say I could."
Mellz paused for a brief second, "...Okay, I did but I thought you meant sometime in the near future! With an arrangement! Not literally an hour later!"
But then, the two heard a man's voice from the inner part of the mansion...
"Mellina, who is that at the door?"
The smaller hound looks inside the home, "Um, just a new Hellhound from a neighboring family!"
Loona blinks at her, "What?"
Mellz shakes her head, "Roll with it. Mr. Baritone will probably send you away otherwise! He doesn't like it when uninvited guests visit."
Her boss spoke again, "Ah, I see. Must want her to greet her new neighbors then, she may come in."
Mellina let her friend inside the home before locking the door, "Thank you, Mr. Baritone."
Loona walked inside and eyed the chubby bird sitting in the lush purple chair, lined with gold. He doesn't look up from the e book he currently has his red eyes glued to. His skin is covered with black and white feathers, resembling a raven with a white underside. He is wearing a green vest with lighter stripes, golden buttons and a mint green undershirt with black pants that ended at the knees. Which showed off his taloned feet. He is wearing a large, white, fluffy ascot that pops out on his chest.
However, two white pupils appear in his eyes when he heard another woman's voice from the other room...
"Barry, honey? Who is at the door?"
An incredibly tall owl demon walks through the large doorway. Her pattern resembled that of a barn owl's with her brown feathers sticking her to her head and neck. Her eyes are pitch black, a white mask of feathers n her face with a golden mark on her beak. She is wearing a long purple, black and white dress with a large, matching purple hat lined with white on top of her head.
Baritone smiles at his wife, "It's a Hellhound belonging to the neighbor, Cadence."
Then the same three owl children Mellina was taking care of before ran into the living room. The smallest one in yellow pointed at the taller woman, "Oh hello, pretty wolfy! Are you were to play with us again?"
Cadence lifts an eyebrow towards the taller hound, "Again?"
Mellz quickly walks in front of her friend, "Oh uh, Loona actually helped us when we got lost last week in the city, Mr. Baritone. Isn't that right, Loona?"
Loona nods in agreement, "Yeah! Yeah, yup. That totally happened."
Baritone blinks before nodding his head, "I see... Well, thank you for guiding my Hellhound and children back home. I know she was having an off time that day."
His wife tilted her bird head at the hound, "Then I assume you know our children too? Well then, my name is Cadence Ars Goetia. I am these children's' mother." Each child chirped when they heard their names. She placed her hands on the man's shoulders, "And my Baritone is their father."
She then flashed a smile, "We welcome you into our home, Ms. Loona. I am quite happy to learn that our Mellina has her own friend. Now, would you like to stay for dinner?"
Suddenly, Loona felt sweat drop down her cheek when the mother said that...
...
Buddy smiles while leading the owl demon to I.M.P's office building, "Stay right here, they should be gone right now." He pressed his back to the wall, preparing to sneak back into the building.
Octavia lifts an eyebrow towards her friend, "What are we doing here?"
Buddy shrugs his shoulders with a smile, "Well, I don't actually have a car buuuuuuut..." He waves his arms to show off the company's vehicle, "I.M.P's got it's own van! Be right back!"
Soon enough, the young man slipped inside the building. He walked though the halls quietly to make his way towards the office, opening the door quietly to see that the portal was still open. He spotted the keys on the empty secretary desk, "Wait a minute, isn't Loona supposed to still be here? And why is the portal still open?" He then shrugged his shoulders before plucking the keys, "Eh, not my problem. It's my day off."
The hybrid made his way down to the street where his friend was waiting, "Okay! Well, that was easy!" He twirls the keys on his finger before tossing them towards the bird girl, "Now, let's get this party started!"
Octavia smiled, opening the driver's side door in order to get in, "So... How do you know how to drive?" She put her seatbelt on before nodding at her friend, signaling for him to do the same. Which he did.
Buddy shrugged his shoulders while he got into the passenger seat, "Eh, I had to drive my mom around sometimes when she had a little too much to drink. It was kinda easy to figure out since I was always tall enough to look over the steering wheel. Moxxie and Millie made sure I actually got my license and knew what I was doing though."
He smiles while looking over her shoulder once she started the car, "Okay... Now, just gently put your foot on the gas pedal."
But then, the van jerked forward with great speed towards a car right in front of them.
The hybrid quickly yanked the wheel to turn them, avoiding the parked car, "Woah, woah, hey!" He holds one hand up to signal her to stop, "Maaaaybe don't press it that hard, Octavia."
Octavia grips the wheel and lifts her foot off the pedal, "Whoops, I uh... apologies!"
Buddy smiles at his friend, "It's okay, just try again. This time, make it a tap."
The owlette nods before tapping her foot on the pedal, "Sure thing!"
The car jutted forward from her foot pressing on the gas, which made her smile. She slowly moved the wheel to turn the car around the corner. She began to smile while the car moved around, "Look, Buddy! Look, I'm doing it!"
Buddy nods excitedly while they kept moving smoothly, "There ya go! You're doing it! Keep going, Via." He then pointed his finger in the air with a smug smile, "But! Keep us in the parking lot! You don't have a permit and I don't wanna get in trouble."
Octavia felt a small blush on her face when she heard her nickname, "Oh! Uh, sure thing... Bud."
Hearing his nickname from her mouth made him especially happy. His smile slowly grew wider, but he stayed silent.
After some time, Octavia was driving a continuous circle in the parking lot. While it wasn't much, it put a smile on her face, "Thank you so much, Buddy!"
The hybrid shrugged his shoulders, "Hey, you're welcome! Now, it's your turn!" He folded both his arms with a confident smile, "Teach me how to play guitar, princess!"
Octavia let out a small giggle, "Okay then! You're on, bodyguard!"
...
Back at the Goetia's mansion, Loona bumps her elbow into her friend's arm to whisper to her, "Mellz! What do I do?"
Mellz speaks up for her friend in front of her boss, "Uh... Loona said she would love to stay, Mrs. Cadence."
Cadence claps her hands excitedly, "Oh, wonderful! I'll let the imps know that we will have another guest this evening!"
Loona narrows her eyes at her friend, "Greaaaaat..."
The smaller hound shrugs in a panic, "...What! That's what Mrs. Cadence wanted to hear..."
The wolf frowns upon hearing that, "...Mellz, that's not-"
Mellz shakes her head nervously, "Loona, it's okay. You just have to stay for dinner and then I can take you home if you'd like. I swear, everything will be fine!"
Loona waves her hand to get her to stop being nervous, "Okay, okay. You're right, it's okay. Huh... At least that means I get to try some of that fancy food, huh?"
The smaller hound practically jumps where she stands, "You're right! You do! Oh man, you're gonna love it!" She then felt a little hand pull at her side.
Lyric smiled up at them, "Can we play now, Mellina? And with your friend too!"
Both Hellhounds looked at each other nervously before hesitatingly agreeing with the children...
And eventually, after hours of playing... The family was now sitting at the dining room table. The mother now sharing a story about the male bird and the Hellhound, " You know, my husband chose Mellina because of her pelt. She had a unique one amongst all the hounds in the center!"
Loona blinks blankly at her, "...I know, I was there. And I am aware that her pelt looked different from everyone else's... Because she is a-"
The mother's eyes widen upon hearing that, "Oh! You lived in the center with Mellina?"
The wolf blinks again, "...Yes. Same cell too."
Mellz speaks up with a shrug of her shoulders, "Slept on the floor next to her, actually."
After a while, their food did arrive to the table. Being carried by a few scared imps, who served everyone with nervous frowns.
Mellz's tail began to wag at the side of the food, "Oh goodie, we're having filet mignon."
Loona's eyes narrow at the name of the food, "Filet mig-What? You know what, never mind. I'm sure it's good." She briefly looked at the father before turning towards her friend, "Hey, Mellz... Your boss is staring bullets into me, what should I say?"
The smaller hound picks up her fork and knife, "Um... You can start a conversation with him. Honestly, say anything and they'll react to it."
Loona looks down at the multiple forks and knives next to her plate, "Oh, uh right." She struggles to find a topic, "Soooo... Mr. Goetia... I swear I've heard that name before."
Baritone begins to speak proudly with a smug smile, "I am Baritone Ars Goetia. You may know my elder brother, Stolas."
Loona raises an eyebrow at him, "Stolas has a brother?"
The father sighs dramatically, "Yes, I'm sure this is a shock to you. It is to everyone, he has many actually. We have sisters too. We may be brothers but we have completely different mothers." He then waves his hand, "And oh, how we always hated each other..."
However, within his own brief flashback, a young Stolas waves happily to his half brother. He smiles at him, "Baritone, brother! Might we play together after our lessons today?"
But the smaller owl simply walked by him with his red book in hand, grumpily walking away from him...
Back in reality, the head of the family sits at his table. He snaps his fingers while the plates are being put in front of them, "But that's enough about me and my welp of a brother! Back to dinner!" He then turns to the open doorway, "Imps! Where are our drinks? Our guest is thirsty!"
Forte leaps up from his seat to point into the air, "Please!"
Cadence put her hand in front of her son, "Forte, darling, sit down."
The eldest boy sits back down in his chair, "Yes, Mother."
Loona looked between both the mother and son before looking at her friend... Wondering if this was normal or not.
...
Now inside the princess's room in the other Ars Goetia mansion, Octavia smiles while picking up the blue guitar. It is decorated with golden stars with a signature reading 'Love Dad' on the back with the same color.
Buddy tilts his head at the signature on the back of the instrument, "This a gift from your dad?"
The owlette nods with a smile, "Of course! ...Your father doesn't give you gifts?"
The hybrid shakes his head with a shrug, "Uh... No, my dad doesn't give anything."
The princess frowns at him with her guitar in her hands, "Oh... I'm sorry. I figured your dad was the gift giving type from what I saw of him at the amusement park."
Buddy's eyes widens at her, "Oh wait, you thought... No, no, Moxxie and Millie aren't my parents. The one with white hair is my brother and she's his wife."
The owl nods along with what he was saying, "Ooooh..."
The winged hybrid shrugs his shoulders with a frown, "And my actual dad has never been there for me so no. No gifts from him."
Octavia nods once again towards him, "I see. Well, I apologize for bringing that up."
Buddy waves his hand nonchalantly, "No, no it's okay. You didn't know." He then smiles at her, "Come on, it's okay. I don't mind talking about it. Here, show me how to play."
The smile returns to Octavia's face while she plays with the strings, "Okay, so... Strum it like this." She then hands the instrument to her friend.
Buddy began to move his fingers on the strings, "Like this?"
A few broken notes hung into the air when he tried to strum the guitar twice. This caused Octavia's smile to turn strained, trying to still approve of the obvious sour notes.
The owlette continued to smile, "Ooooh, that didn't sound too good...
Buddy frowned upon hearing the same tone, "Yikes, sorry about that. Moxxie makes it look so easy! Guess I should just stick to the basics, huh?"
Octavia's smile returned to normal while nodding her head, "Yes, please. You'll get to the more advanced stuff soon enough. You sound good so far!" She tilts her head at him, "Why don't you try to add some words to it instead?"
The hybrid blushes in response, "Oh! I'm sorry, I just... Um, when a succubus sings, it makes things rather... Heated." He rubs the back of his neck while still holding the guitar, "And I really don't wanna cause that type of trouble if that happens. I've never tried it before but I wouldn't want to risk it."
The princess shakes her head before placing her hand on his to grab his attention, "I don't think you'll have to worry about that too much."
The winged demon tilts his head at her, "What's that supposed to mean?" He briefly looks down at their hands before looking up at her.
Octavia giggles at his face, "Nothing." She takes her hand back from his, "Just keep playing then, you're doing great."
And so, with her encouragement, Buddy continued to strum the guitar. He smiled while playing the made up song, moving his fingers along the neck of the guitar. The notes went on and on, the two smiling at each other while music filled the air...
Once the music had stopped, Buddy turned to his friend with a nervous smile. His tail moved warily behind him, rubbing the back of his neck while still holding the guitar in his other hand, "So... Um, how did that sound?"
The princess scoots just a tiny bit closer to him, "...It still sounded beautiful."
The hybrid smiles back at her, "...Thanks, Octavia..." He hands her guitar back before relaxing his shoulders, "You know, I couldn't imagine a better way to spend my day off..."
The owl demon plays with her hands while still looking at him, "You're welcome and thank you, Buddy..."
The two stayed there for a while on her bed... Smiling at each other without a care in the world... The girl slowly starts to strum the guitar again, providing a small bit of advanced tones for the two to listen to...
...
Once they had gotten their drinks, Mellz took a sip of water. Loona did the same, her ears jerking back and forth while the children drank fruit juice. The parents drank the wine from the glasses in front of them.
The wolf looked at the shock collar around her friend's neck before speaking, "So... Were you guys always fans of torturing your subjects? Or does this come off when others aren't around?"
Mellz's eyes widen, her ears pinning to her head, "Woah! Loona, no. It's okay, really!"
Baritone speaks up before rolling his eyes, "Oh, this is about the shock collar? You are in no place to criticize me over that decision. It was for my family's safety and for Mellina's own good." He put a lot of emphasis on 'Mellina', like he was making sure both Hellhounds heard it.
The wolf begins to glare at him, "For her own good?! I've seen it shock her until she fell to the ground!"
The male bird shrugs his shoulders, "Of course, that IS it's intended purpose. I don't want my Mellina to be like the rest of those ruffians." Cadence nodded to agree with his statement.
Loona stands up from her chair, "And what is that supposed to mean?! Why are you talking about her like she's not in the room?! She's right here!"
Mellz shakes her head with a frown, "Loona please, chill out! It's fine!"
The taller hound frowns back at her, "No, Mellz!"
Baritone raises his voice into a shout, "I have heard enough of this tomfoolery! Loona, You are no longer welcome here!" He stands up from his chair, shooting his hand out, "Make yourself scarce and leave!" The children sits uncomfortably in their chairs, the youngest brother holding onto his sister's arm with worry.
Loona turns to her friend, hoping to hear her opinion, "Mellz?"
The smaller Hellhound begins to look around nervously, "I, uh... Loona..."
Baritone shouts at the wolf, "Do not refer to our Hellhound with that disgusting name!"
Cadence speaks up while looking at the hound, "Mellina, go into the living room with the children."
Mellz looks between the parents with a frown, "But wait, please, she was just..."
The male bird doesn't even look at her but speaks firmly, "Now, Mellina."
Both Mellz's ears droop before she backs off, "...Yes, Mr. Baritone." She slowly and sadly began to push the children outside the door and into the living room, trying not to see the upset face her friend was making...
Loona growls before glaring at the husband, "Fine! Be that way!" The fur stands up on her head while stomping out of the dining room and out of the whole mansion in general. She gives the father of the family one final glare in his direction before slamming door.
Mellz could only watch while her friend marches down the street angrily... She returns to the table minutes later with the children, attempting to eat the fillet mignon after the confrontation... Her stomach in knots...
...
And so... The hybrid and the Hellhound both made their way back to the office building. Albeit separately, without the knowledge that the other were on the same path. Buddy twirled the keys around his finger once again, poking his head into the hallway ahead. He slowly tiptoes throughout the hall, trying to keep his presence quiet.
But then, he heard a voice, "...What are you doing, Buddy?"
The winged hybrid jumped back, clutching his chest, "Ack, Loona! Don't scare me like that!"
The Hellhound raised an eyebrow with her hands in her pockets, "Wouldn't have scared you if you were paying more attention. So what ARE you doing? It's your day off, remember?"
Buddy shrugged his shoulders while still holding the metal in his hand, "I know, I'm just here to return the van keys."
The woman lowered one of her ears before asking, "...Why'd you take the sh-ty-"
Suddenly, a light shines on them when the hybrid opens the door. They both cover their eyes from the flash while still feeling blinded. Both heard the boss imp's voice from the other side of the room.
Blitzo pointed at the both of them, "Aha F-KER! I told you, Moxxie! The van thief would come back to the scene of the crime! In the van!" He then rolled his eyes, "...Okay, maybe I should have known it was Buddy or Loonie considering they are our only other employees." He swiped the keys from his intern's hand, "But why'd you take it, Bud?"
But before the hybrid could actually respond, Blitzo lifts his eyebrows up and down in a suggestive manner, "Oooooh, wait a minute! I get it!"
Moxxie tilted his head at his boss, "Get what?"
The boss kept his sly smile on his face, "Your little brother was using the company van to impress a girl! Maybe even get some action while he was at it!" He elbowed the taller being in the stomach, "...So did you have se-"
Buddy's face immediately became redder from his boss's question, "What NO! That is not what I was doing with the van! At all!"
Blitzo rolls his eyes at him before waving a finger, "Oh sure, sure! You disappear with it on your day off and it comes back squeaky clean? I think something went oooooon. and you don't want us to knooooow!"
Moxxie pokes his face into the conversation, "Sir, I don't think-"
Mille speaks over him with a shrug, "I mean, Buddy IS a young man. It would be totally normal for him to do this sort of thang." She stood up on a chair to place a hand on her ward's shoulder, "Ya can talk about it with us if ya want, Bud. Hell, we can give ya some pointers."
Both brothers look at her with wide eyes, "Millie!"
Buddy's face remains even redder than before, "But that's not what I used it for! Uuuuuugh!" He then hides his face in his hands while his brother places a hand on his other shoulder in an attempt to comfort him.
Loona couldn't help but laugh bitterly at the scene in front of her. She slowly sat at her desk and turned on her phone. Her smile slowly faded into a frown upon seeing the text from her friend... Reading the words 'I am so sorry'...
...
At the Goetia mansion, Mellz frowns at her phone in the orange case. She puts in her pocket before sitting down on the couch with a frown. Her boss sitting just a few feet away from her in his usually lush chair.
Baritone raised an eyebrow at her upset face before letting out a sigh. He peers around the room before looking back at his Hellhound with a whisper, "Mellina, pssst... Mellina!"
The woman turned her frown towards him, "Yes, Mr. Baritone?"
The chubby bird frowned back at her, "Oh, please don't be so upset, Mellina. Your friend was being a bit too hasty, judging me and Cadence for our decisions regarding you. Just now that we do this to make sure you'll have the best life possible..." He took a dog treat out of his inner vest pocket and tossed it to her, "Here, to make you feel better."
Mellz caught the treat in her hands, "Thank you, Mr. Baritone... I shall keep that in mind..." She then stood up from her seat and made her way into her room. Which had a black dog bed inside and various pictures. She ate the treat before she made her way to the doggy bed, circling around it on all fours.
She frowns... Laying down while folding her arms under her chin... The events of the day repeating in her mind...
...
While Buddy is being embarrassed by his coworkers, Octavia was pacing in her room. Back and forth she went in front of her bed...
The owlette shakes her head, "This is... Such a strange feeling. Well, not so strange. I just... Don't see him in the way I see everyone else. But not... Carnally." She grabs one of the pink pillows on her bed to hold it while she walks, "He DOES have a handsome face... And he's considerate and he listens to me. Makes me feel comfortable... He's always so... Willing to help me whenever he gets the chance. Like he jumps to be next to me." She hugs the pillow closer to herself, "Do I honestly like him?"
She turned to the guitar resting against the wall before taking a deep breath, "Maybe... This isn't that much of a bad thing..."
