The next morning Makenna made her way into Dana's kitchen. She noticed Dana had a little smile.
"Morning Kenny"
"Hey, any news?"
"Actually Dad just called, Ryan is off the ventilator and on an oxygen mask. He is still weak but he is going to be okay".
"Yes! Makenna cheered as both woman hugged. "Who's in the shower?"
"Tommy is, he came late and you were asleep." Dana answered as the baby began to cry.
"Here" Makenna offered to take the baby. "Hey baby girl. Lyla you get cuter evey day"
"Cuter than you" Tommy joked as he came into the kitchen. "You were a goofy kid".
"Gee i wonder who i take after" Makenna joked pointing at her brother. "You are still goofy looking".
Dana laughed as she watched Makenna sit on the couch to give the baby her bottle. "You know she's going to be a great mom someday"
"Please don't go there" Tommy felt a shiver. "But she will be when i let her date"
"Been there done that" Makenna whispered as Lyla fell asleep.
"Excuse me?" Tommy said in shock. "You shower now"
Makenna and Dana laughed as Tommy shook his head. "Dana did you know?"
"Maybe" Dana giggled. "Tommy you have to accept the fact that she is a grown woman now"
"I know" Tommy replied as he took a plate of pancakes from her.
After ten minutes Makenna emerged from the shower and walked into the kitchen all ready. Carter had arrived home from his shift.
"Hey Carter"/ Makenna greeted.
"Hey you" He replied giving her a hug. "Dana i am off tonight so you can spend time with Ryan if you need to"
Once they all got ready Tommy, Kenna and Dana headed towards the hosputal. Tommy dropped the girls off at the door so he could go park.
"I am going to see if i am on call tonight so you go ahead". Dana told Kenna as she walked down the hall.
Makenna grabbed a snack and headed for Ryan's room. She stopped outside as she heard arguing.
"Dad i swear if i never met her this wouldn't have happened!" Ryan yelled weakly. "My job is gone now. Makenna should gave left me alone".
Makenna felt her heart shatter at those words. She let out a sob as both men turned to the door where she stood.
"Kenna-" Will whispered.
She put her hand up to stop him from saying more. "I will just leave this here, Dana, will, uh be here soon." She told them leabing the browie on the little table. "I'll go." She turned on her heels and ran out of the hospital passing Dana on the way.
Dana walked into the room. "Someone want to tell me what just happened?"
Once her father filled her in Dana was furious at her brother. "Ryan i can't believe you! How dare you blame this on her!"
"I'm siorry i didn't mean it!. I let my anger get the best of me. The doctor told me due to my leg injury my career is over" He tried to reason."Please Dana is she still here?"
"No." Tommy said as he walked in. "I met her outside She ninja streaked back to Reefside."
"I screwed up didn't I?" Ryan mumbled earning a slap on the head from both is sister and brother.
"You think?" Dana replied. "Ryan why did you run into that fire?" Dana asked her brother as she sat next to his legs.
Ryan picked at the IV in his hand. "I saw Makenna. My mind flashed to when she was trapped in that building those years ago because of me. I wanted to get the kid out without her getting hurt the way Kenna got hurt back then".
"Ryan that was never your fault. You didn't mean to trap her because remember you didn't know she was even in there" His Dad told him putting a hand on his shoulder.
"Ryan you have to make this right okay, i will try my best to get her back here but for now i am going to let her cool off". Tommy told him as he left the hospital room to call his sister.
Meanwhile in Reefside Makenna streaked through the woods to her house. Once she entered the lab she noticed it was empty. A light erupted from her chest.
"Hello Makenna" A white lion with an orange stiped appeared.
"Malec go away i am not in the mood".
"You are troubled, so i came to help". The lion spoke as he sat down.
Makenna walked over to the desk to eye the dino bracelet she gave back to her brother. She picked it up. "Malec my life is falling apart. I feel like i am going to crash"
Malec walked over and sat in front of her while she sat in the chair. "Makenna, child you are not falling apart. You are ignoring the possibility of whats possible with that gem. You are afraid of what could be. I know you blame yourself for not taking up the mantle"
"Malec i couldn't do it. It almost killed me!"
"No, you fought against the power!" Malec roared. "You didn't want to accept it, you didn't want to let it in because you were scared!"
"Yes i was" She admitted.
The lion's eyes lit up red. "Makenna, you always compared yourself to your brother and his friends. Its time you stop, its time you embrace the power if not for me then for yourself. Be the Eikon of fire you are destined to be"
Makenna looked at the lion then the gem. "You really think i can do that?"
The lion put his paws on her knees. "Yes"
"Hey Malec do you think Sensei Freya would have been proud?"
"Yes, it wasn't your fault she died Makenna, she told me to always watch over you and be your guardian as well. You and Hunter both know she needed her spirit freed from Lothor to finally pass on. It was an honor to serve her and now its an honor to stand by you" Malec assured her and he laid down at her feet.
Makenna smiled a little as the lion laid down. Malec may be an animal but he was wise. She looked to her left as the door to the basement opened.
"Tommy you-woah!" Jason Scott yelled. "Malec i presume?"
"In the flesh".
Jason grinned he was told about the lion but never saw it in person. "Makenna, hey". He greeted her as he came down the steps.
"Hey". She greeted. "What are you doing here?"
Jason sat in the chair across from her. "Tommy told me he was on his way back from Mariner Bay so i told him i would stop by." He replied giving Malec a head scratch.
"Let me guess he also asked you to check on me right?" Makenna asked with an eyeroll.
"Yeah that to" Jason replied with a grin. "He told me what happened, are you okay?"
Makenna twirled in her chair. "Define okay Jase, no i am not okay. I mean i know Ryan is upset but i guess the truth has to come out. I guess i ruined his life to like i did ever since i even noved to Angel Grove as a kid. Sometimes i wish i wasn't even here".
"Kenna what are you saying?"
"I'm saying i wish that crash that killed my Mom killed me to".
Jason's breath hitched hard. He scooted his chair so he was in front of her. He grabbed her hands in his and held tight. "Don't you dare say that! You have no idea what inpact ou really had on us when we met you. You changed our lives for the better. Even though you were a kid you were our light in any dark time we faced!"
Makenna looked into Jason's eyes.
"Makenna the day you found out who we were not only brought us closer but i think you knew that nothing would harm you knowing we were the rangers". He grabbed her wrist the put the dino gem on it. "This gem chose you for a reason. I fully believe that Zordon knew there was a path for you as a ranger. Never ever say you wish you weren't here."
"Just when i thought you weren't a softy". Makenna laughed out. "I love you Jase".
"Come here". Jason pulled her into a huge hug. "Our hearts would not be whole if you weren't here"
Malec took Jason's nod and went over to the desk. He used his paw to swipe it open. A little black box fell out. Jason took it from the lion's mouth.
"Makenna that day you heard my voice i was talking to Tommy on the phone. I came here to give him this to give to you" He handed it to her.
Makenna tookd the black box and opened it. "How? Where?" She noticed the silver chain with and eagle pendant. "Jsse this was lost years ago. I remember going to the park with Adam and a cog ripped it off ny neck. I thought it was gone"
"We did to. Adam felt so bad he couldn't find it and he knew how much it mean to you after Nunjor made it for you. We kept it in the command center ruins. Adam found it the next day in a bush and it was broken but i finally got it fixed. We didn't tell you because we knew how much you hated going there knowing Zordon was gone, you sort of stayed away from the place".
Makenna took the chain and clasped it around her neck. "Thank you"
"Am i forgiven?"
"Yes Jase i forgave you the moment i found out you lied." She told him kissing his cheek. They looked to the steps to see Tommy enter the lab.
Jason walked over to him then headed upstairs.
Tommy locked eyes with his sister. "You alright?"
Makenna shrugged. "Not really but i will be".
Malec growled getting Tommy's attention. Tommy looked towards the anumal. "Kenna explain"
Makenna laughed as the lion yawned and how nervous her brother looked. "Not here. Malec if you please. Tommy give me your hand i am about to share my Blue Bay story, well my full story".
Malec growled causing a portal to open. Tommy let his sister guide him through in as Malec followed behind.
Once they exited the portal Tommy looked around to find himself in a field surrounded by trees, a lake and the feeling of peace.
"Kenna? Where are we?"
Makenna turned around. "The place where i died"
