Welcome everyone to my prequel story to my last Pokémon story: A Human and his Gardevoir. I had originally intended to make a sequel, but then began playing my old Pokémon Emerald and gave me an idea. I decided to instead make a prequel to show how my main character Ryan and his Gardevoir Rachel began their journey in the Hoenn region. And how it leads to the bond we'd see in the first story.

I'll be following much of how the game went, while also including some new characters and some old ones that we'd get in the first story. Not all of them will appear though. This also takes place four years before they get to the Sinnoh region. And this also will not include Ash from the anime series.

This is an entirely different universe where we don't have Ash but will be a bit like anime and games too. Also, unlike with the original story, this will be through no first point of view. I've been wanting to move away from that. And will need to fix the original to do the same.

Now then, with how this story is going to be, how will it go? With it being in the Hoenn region, will we see some familiar characters from the anime series? Will we see May and her brother? And how will things go in this story before our heroes go to the Sinnoh region?

Check out the video to find out. I want to thank everyone for supporting my story and my friend for his help as well. I appreciate the support and feedback. I don't own anything from the Pokémon universe, except my OCs. So, without any further delays, enjoy the story everyone.

Chapter I: Prologue

Narration

Welcome to the World of Pokémon. A world home to both humans and the creatures that live beside them, Pokémon. Pokémon are creatures that live in this world that all possess an array of different and extraordinary abilities. They can be found in every corner of the world.

From the forests, jungles, swamps, mountains, deserts, sky, the sea, even in other dimensions, and in space. These creatures all come in different sizes and types. What sort of types? There are those that can use fire abilities, labeling them as Fire-types. Others possess water abilities, grass, rock, electrical abilities, etc.

It's because of this, that scientists have decided to label these Pokémon in 18 different category types. It is because of these abilities that humans found a way to befriend these creatures. Learning to put their trust in one another, bonding with the Pokémon, and battle together.

To the point that this led to the creation of both Pokéballs and tournaments. Allowing humans to capture these Pokémon and use them for battles to compete with other humans, called trainers. This allowed the humans and Pokémon to work together, grow strong, and show who is the best in the world.

In one such region, a young man is about to wake up and begin his journey to become one of these Pokémon trainers. A journey that will change his life and the life of a particular Pokémon that will form a strong bond with her human partner.

Hoenn Region

The Hoenn Region is one of the nine (for now) regions that exist in the world. It is a region that is home to over 135 different species of Pokémon. Some that can't be found near their neighboring regions, Kanto and Johto. It is a region that is said to have been created by two legendary Pokémon, both of earth and sea.

A region that like the others, also has their own Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and Champions.

All who are tasked to face off against young Pokémon trainers, who are looking to make a name for themselves. Even those who are barely getting started to become a Pokémon trainer. All who once they turn 10 years old, are given a chance to go out into the world with their starter Pokémon and become a trainer. Traveling around the region to face off against the eight Gym Leaders, who if they beat, they can earn their badges.

Gathering all eight will allow them to compete in the Hoenn League. Where they'll face off against the best of the best trainers. The winner will go on to face the Elite Four, who if they can beat them, then the winner will face the champion. The strongest in all the region and if they can win, they'll become the new champion.

For a young man living in a small town, that's exactly what he hopes to accomplish.

In the town of Littleroot, southwest of Hoenn, there lies a house. A white & blue colored two-story house. Home to a single mother, Annabeth, a young doctor who had just moved to this region to live with her only son, Ryan. A young man who has turned 10 years old and is ready to begin his journey into the world of Pokémon.

Ryan is seen sleeping in his bed as he went to sleep early to prepare for his journey. Near his bed is his backpack that's carrying what he needs. From his clothes to other essentials, he'll need for his journey. Along with his equipment needed to assemble a tent and to cook his meals.

Ryan's alarm soon begins to go off, awakening the young man from his sleep. Letting out a loud groan, he begins to move his left hand out and turns the alarm off. He sits up from his bed and begins smacking his lips before he slowly opens his mouth. Looking down, he saw it was 6:30 in the morning.

A tad earlier than he normally would wake up, but he set it for a reason. Ryan knew he was going to get his starter Pokémon today and needed to get to the professor's place early.

"Today is the day," said Ryan as he quickly got out of bed, before he tripped on his blanket.

Getting out of bed he begins heading over to the bathroom to get himself ready. He looks into the mirror and sees his reflection.

Showing his long black hair that stops halfway from his neck, blue colored eyes, and fair skin. He begins washing his face and combing his hair before he puts on his hat. He examined himself through the mirror and knew he was ready for his adventure.

"Get ready world! Because the future Pokémon Master is about to begin his journey!" Ryan exclaimed before he turned around and takes a step forward, before he slipped on the rug and falls forward, hitting the floor. "Okay, that hurt…ouch."

*A few minutes later*

Ryan went downstairs, carrying his two bags filled with his stuff. One has his clothes, toothbrush, soap, flipflops, brush, and bathing suit. While the other has his fist aid kit, compass, potions, canned foods, tent, lantern, and pillow. One would say he's overpreparing for his journey, but this wasn't all him.

His mom got him all this stuff to have for his journey, which he didn't mind, but did feel she overdid it a little.

Ryan sets his stuff by the door before he stretched his arms. He wore blue baggy jeans, black t-shirt, blue jacket, black gloves, red/blue colored shoes, and his blue/white striped hat. He also had an extra jacket just in case t he areas he goes through gets cold. Now this he had no trouble having.

Ryan walked over to the kitchen as he got hungry. "Hey mom! I'm up! Are you…here?"

Ryan looked around and found no one in the kitchen. He did find on the table a plate that has two eggs, bacon, toast, waffle, and a glass of orange juice. Next to it is a note, which has his mom's handwriting on it. Picking it up, he looked over it and smiled.

Dear Ryan…

I'm sorry I'm not there to see you off on your journey, but I had a call from the hospital that needed my help. I'm proud of you though, my sweet baby boy. You're finally beginning your Pokémon journey and I'm so happy for you. I'm also scared, since well, I won't be there to watch you grow into the amazing trainer I know you'll become.

Just remember: Pokémon are meant to be our friends, so treat them well, and they will be there for you. Remember to never be cruel or mean towards any Pokémon, including any trainers. Remember all I taught you about Pokémon battles and remember to have some fun. And most importantly, never let hatred or any obsession change the good boy that you are.

I love you, Ryan. Good luck on your journey, please take good care, and call me to let me know where you're at.

Ryan can feel a small tear falling down his face. He wiped it away and puts the letter in his pocket before he begins eating.

He knew this was hard for his mom. Ever since his dad died, he and his mom have been there to support one another. Helping each other and making sure they're both okay. Although Ryan knew, his mom needed the most help, since his dad was there to help her.

Supporting her classes, helping her with the finances, and being there when she graduated to become a fully licensed doctor. One that can help Pokémon and humans. Something that Ryan's mom has been working hard to do for a long time.

But then, he got sick and didn't get better. He hid his illness from them for such a long time because he didn't want them to worry. He also didn't want mom to give up on her dream. Ryan didn't like that his dad kept this from them, can understand why he did what he did.

Ryan looked over and saw a picture of himself with his parents. All three smiling together as Ryan held a Pikachu and Eevee plush that he won during a carnival game. Ryan goes to the picture and holds it in his hand while doing his best not to cry.

"I really wish you were here, dad," said Ryan as he wiped away some tears from his eyes before setting the picture down. He then moved his hand down to where he kept the letter from his mom and begins trying to put on a brave face. "I promise, mom. I won't let anything or anyone change me from the good person you and dad raised me to be. I'll be the best trainer in the world, and I'll see you again soon."

*A few minutes later*

Once Ryan finished eating and cleaning the dishes, he begins going to the living room. Grabbing his things, Ryan takes one last look around the house. "It's going to be a while before I see this again…I just hope mom will be okay."

Ryan begins to open the door and takes his first step out the house. "This is one small step in starting my Pokémon journey. And one small step to becoming the champion of this region, despite not being from here, I'll still succeed in my goal."

Ryan was originally born from in Slateport in the Sinnoh region. But his mom decided to move here to Littleroot after his dad passed away. She told Ryan this is where his dad was from and had been left this house by his parents when they passed away. Ryan wasn't keen on moving away from home, but he knew it was to help his mom, so he accepted it.

"And this place does look very nice," said Ryan to himself as he goes to his bike, which his mom had gotten for him when he turned ten.

As Ryan puts his stuff on the bike, he begins remembering something. "Ah crap! I almost forgot!" Ryan ran back into the house before coming out a minute later with a piece of paper. "The letter from Professor Birch. I was told to present this to him so I can get my starter Pokémon."

Ryan puts his letter away knowing he'll need it to present to the professor when he gets to his lab, which thankfully was close by. Ryan begins to get on his bike before looking up at the house.

"Man, it feels weird to be leaving home and go on my journey. I still can't believe it's okay for 10-year-olds to go out on this long and possibly dangerous journey to become a Pokémon trainer," said Ryan who felt this was an odd thing for grown-ups to put their kids through, but then shook those thoughts out of his head. "It should be fine. I mean, what 10-year-old doesn't want to go out and travel the world with their Pokémon?"

Ryan gets on and begins to ride his bike. "See ya later, house! I'll be back soon!" Ryan exclaimed before he rode down the road towards the professor's lab.

All the while, he got excited with the idea of getting his first Pokémon. While trying to decide which to go with. His mom told him that in this region, all new trainers are given three different types of starter Pokémon to go with. Just like in every region, they're given a chance to get a Grass, Water, or Fire-type Pokémon.

In this region, he has a chance to get a Treecko, the wood gecko Pokémon. Then there's Torchic, the chick Pokémon. And then there's Mudkip, the mud fish Pokémon. They're all so cute and evolve into cool strong Pokémon, but he knew he can only get one.

He also knew if he did pick one, then he'd have to choose carefully. His mom did warn him how the first gym leader uses Rock-type Pokémon. So, obviously he'd go with the Grass or Water-Type. However, his mom warned him how he will need to use Fire-type for later gyms and against other trainers, especially if he doesn't get more variety of Pokémon to add to this team.

Meaning: He'll need more types to boost his chances of winning every gym he goes to.

"Ah man. Why doesn't the professor just let us pick out more than one," said Ryan who wonders why they also can't find these Pokémon out in the wild too. "Wait…why are they so rare to find?"

Before he had a chance to think more about this, he arrived at the professor's lab, to find one of his assistances. "Oh, um hello there. I'm looking for the professor. Is he in or am I early?"

The assistant turned towards the young man and removed his goggles. "Sorry, but the professor isn't in right now. He's out collecting data."

"Aww man, really?" Ryan asked as he had hope by getting here early, he'd get a chance to choose his starter Pokémon now and begin his journey early. "W-Well, do you know how long it'll be before he comes back? I was hoping to get my starter Pokémon today."

"Oh? You must be one of the trainers coming for their Pokémon. I'm sorry, but the professor has the three starters with him," said the assistant who felt bad for the young trainer. "But, if you want, you can go find him. He's in the forest not too far from here."

"Really?! That's great, thank you," said Ryan as he got on his bike and rides off.

"Wait! Just don't go too far in the forest, it's dangerous!" the assistant shouted out to the young boy, but he was too far away to hear it.

Ryan rode towards the forest when he stopped at the path that leads inside. "Well, here we are. I wonder where the professor could be at."

Ryan knew he did need to be careful. There are wild Pokémon inside the forest, and he knew if he got attacked by one without his own Pokémon, he'd get hurt.

"I better leave my stuff here," said Ryan as he sets his bike and stuff to the side of a tree. "Now, where to start looking?"

Just then, Ryan jumped when he heard a loud scream. It sounded like a man. A man with a high-pitched scream. He then heard following the scream, someone yelling for help.

Ryan gulped loudly before he grabbed his flashlight from his bag and begins following the sound. If he gets attacked, at least he has a weapon to defend himself with.

As he arrived at the source of the scream, he saw it was an older looking man being chased around by a Zigzagzoon, a Normal-type Pokémon.

"Please, help me!" the older man begged as he looked over to see Ryan. "Oh, young man! Please, help me! Go into my bag and pull out a Pokémon! Hurry!"

Ryan knew this isn't good. If he doesn't do something soon, he'll get hurt. Looking over to his left, he saw the bag the man was talking about and rushes in to find the Pokéball. He saw there were three of them but didn't know which to choose.

"Ah screw it. Any Pokémon will work," said Ryan as he took out one of the Pokéballs and throws it. "Go!"

Appearing from the ball, a small Torchic appeared, letting out a cry as it flaps its little wings. "Ah yeah, a Torchic!" it was then Ryan realized something as he looked back at the bag and saw a name on it: Professor Birch. "Hold on…that guy is Professor Birch!"

"Yes! Yes, I'm Professor Birch!" the older man, now revealed to be the professor cried out before running over to the young man. "Now, do something, please!"

"Oh, right, sorry," said Ryan as he snaps into fighting mode. "Okay, Torchic, use Scratch!" he ordered as the Fire Pokémon chirped before leaping over and scratched the face of the Zigzagzoon, causing it to yelp in pain before jumping back.

"Nicely done, young man. But it's not done yet," said Professor Birch as he points to the Pokémon. "It's coming back for another attack. Use Ember on it."

"Oh right," said Ryan as he turned to Torchic. "Use Ember!"

Torchic nods and fired a small multiple fireballs towards the Pokémon, burning it and leaving it covered in soot. The Zigzagzoon soon runs off back into the forest and disappears.

"All right! We did it!" Ryan walked over and pets the Torchic Pokémon, who chirped happily towards him. "You did an amazing job, little buddy. You're pretty strong, aren't you?"

Torchic responds proudly and gave a small prideful huff with what it did.

"T-Thank you, my boy," said Professor Birch as he finally caught his breath after being chased around for so long. "And you held your own well. I take it you're one of the new trainers that came to see me for their Pokémon?"

"Yes sir. My name is Ryan. It's nice to meet you, Professor Birch," said Ryan as he gave a small head bow to the professor.

"Ryan? Ah yes, you're Annabeth's boy. I remember talking to her yesterday and how she told me about you. You're exactly how she told me you'd be like," said Professor Birch who's thankful the young man came by to help him when he did.

"S-She did? Oh wow, that's so cool," said Ryan who blushed a little that his mom was telling the professor about him.

"Well, Ryan. It seems you did an amazing job with your first battle and seeing how well you worked with Torchic, I suppose you want him as your starter?" Professor Birch asked as he took notice how the young Pokémon rubbed his head against Ryan's leg.

Ryan chuckled softly as he picks up his Pokémon and nods. "I think that's a definite yes."

"Splendid. Now then, come back with me to my lab so you can get your Pokédex. You'll need it to begin your journey and catalogue all the Pokémon you encounter," said Professor Birch as he explained what else Ryan will need. "Also, do you want to give Torchic a nickname?"

"Hmm…" Ryan did know he could give his Pokémon a nickname but didn't want to give him one if he doesn't want to. "What do you think, Torch? Want me to give you a nickname?"

Torchic looked away as if thinking about wanting a name while traveling with his trainer. He looked up to Ryan and nods in response while chirping.

"All right then, how about…Blaze? Does that sound like a cool name?" Ryan asked as he saw how excited his Pokémon got with the name and chirped happily. "I guess that's the name he wants, Blaze."

"Blaze the Torchic, huh? Ha! I love it! Nicely done," said Professor Birch as he goes to pick up his bag and begins motioning for Ryan to follow him. "Now, let's get going, young man. I'll give you the Pokédex and something else your mom asked me to give you too."

*An hour later*

After getting his Pokédex from the professor, Ryan was also given some Pokéballs. And by some, it was more like 100 Pokéballs, along with some extra cash that his mom had left for him. Ryan was told his mom forgot to leave him this stuff when she got to work, so she asked the professor if he can drop it off for her. The professor agreed to do so and gave Ryan the stuff.

He was also told to head up route 101 and towards Oldale Town. There he'll begin his journey and meet with Norman, the gym leader of the town. It seemed that Norman's daughter was going to begin her journey too, but he feels she should have a friend to join her. And since Ryan's mom, Annabeth got along so well with Norman's wife, she felt Ryan could be that friend to join Norman's daughter, May.

Ryan looked at the picture that the professor left for him that showed Norman and his family. Ryan sees the mom, who did look pretty and friendly too. And then there's the daughter, May. She did look cute but did seem confused on why Norman believed she needs someone to join her on her journey.

"Okay, the friend part, I get it. But she's the daughter of a gym leader. Surely, she doesn't need a rookie like me to drag her down," said Ryan who felt this was unnecessary, but didn't seem to fight it for too long. "Ah well. Maybe when I fight her dad eventually, she'll give me some pointers."

Ryan decides to drive off towards the town and also pay his mom a visit. By the time he gets there, he's sure she'll be free to see him and get to see his new Pokémon.

Suddenly, he felt a drop of water hit hand, causing him to look down. "Rain?" he looked up and saw dark clouds forming. "Ah crap. A lot of rain!" he stops under a tree and begins taking out his raincoat along with his rainhat before it begins to pour.

"I guess I can't really get upset with mom for leaving me so much stuff," said Ryan as he begins riding off in the rain, while thankful the hat he has is covering his face. "I know I shouldn't be riding on my bike while it rains, but it doesn't look like it'll let up anytime soon. At the very least, the road is still nice, not muddy, and no sign of any, ah shit!"

Ryan saw a Zigzagzoon appear on the road, causing Ryan to veer around and tries to hit the break. Only for the bike to slide and hit a nearby bush, causing the young man some bit of pain.

"Okay…that really hurt…" Ryan begins to slowly sit up as he looked over to see if anything was broken. "No broken bones or broken bike…thankfully…" he then looked over and saw the Zigzagzoon staring at him, before noticing the scratch marks on it. "A-Are you the one I fought earlier?"

The Zigzagzoon gave what looked like a small smirk before it took off into the forest. "Damn…who would have guess Zigzagzoon hold grudges. I really should tell the professor about this next time I see him."

Ryan slowly stood up and sighed in relief that his stuff wasn't broken, but man he needs to be careful now. If that Zigzagzoon isn't done with him, then it's best he should walk to the next town than ride. At least till I can get out of this area. Ryan thought as he begins getting his bike out of the bushes, he hears a loud shriek coming nearby.

"What the hell?" Ryan dropped his bike and runs to the source of the shriek. He didn't know what it was, but it sounds like another person was in danger.

When Ryan arrived to the source of the scream, he saw three Poochyena, all Normal-type Pokémon, attacking a small Ralts, a Psychic-type Pokémon. And it's a shiny Pokémon. He knew those were very rare to find in the world. They're type of Pokémon that are born a different color from blue, green, red, to any color that is different from what they're normally supposed to look like.

Ryan's focus though came when the three Pokémon cornered the young Ralts, who was crying and curled in a ball. The leader of the Poochyena walked over and prepared to attack. As it goes for the attack, Ryan rushes over and kicks the Pokémon away. Ryan stood between the Pokémon and the Ralts, while trying to shield her.

"Hey! Leave her alone, you jerk! Now!" Ryan tried to look big and scare off the Pokémon, but it didn't seem to work. "Fine, you asked for it," taking out his Pokéball he lets out his Torchic, Blaze into battle. "With this tree shielding us from the rain, Blaze's attacks should be effective. "Okay, Blaze use Ember!"

Blaze fired multiple fireballs towards the three Pokémon, causing them to back away. Ryan has to keep them apart and try taking them out quickly.

"Okay, Blaze, use Scratch on the Poochyena on the left and then the right!" Ryan ordered as Blaze charges in and avoids the two Poochyena from biting him and scratches their faces.

They begin to yelp in pain and back away, but the third one, the leader came charging at Ryan. Ryan took out his flashlight and hits the Pokémon across the face, knocking it away. Blaze saw this, but Ryan told him to keep the focus on the other two. Blaze did so and avoids the two Pokémon from ganging up on him and leaps up into the air before firing more Ember at the two Pokémon's faces.

This caused them to help in pain and run away in fear. Before Blaze had any time to celebrate, the leader of the Poochyena hits him with a tackle from behind. It then turned towards Ralts and goes to attack, but Ryan got in the way and moved his right arm out to push its neck back. But the Pokémon managed to bite Ryan's arm, causing him to yell in pain.

Ryan though didn't let this stop him from fighting back as he hits the Pokémon in the face to knock it away. The Pokémon growled in anger and goes for Ryan again, but this time, Torchic recovered and begins pecking the Pokémon's head.

"Nicely done, buddy. Now, with all your might, use Ember!" Ryan ordered as Blaze uses Ember to fire one big attack towards the Pokémon, knocking it to the ground and looked out of it. "Okay, time to catch you and keep you from hurting anyone else."

Ryan throws the Pokéball and hits the Pokémon, before sucking it inside the Pokéball. The ball begins wiggling around while the red light glows in the middle of the ball. Before finally it turned green, showing he caught the Pokémon.

"I did it. I caught my first Pokémon," said Ryan who was wincing a little but still excited that they won.

Blaze walked up to Ryan and checks on his trainer. "I'm okay, buddy. Thankfully the jacket absorbed most of the bite," Ryan lied knowing he could feel his arm was in pain and likely got some bite marks on it. "But we'll go to the Pokémon Center once we check on the Ralts."

Speaking of which, Ryan turned to the Ralts and saw if she was okay. "Hey. Are you all right? They didn't hurt you, right?"

The Ralts slowly looked up at Ryan, still crying and looks like she did have some scratches on her. She has light blue colored hair, two red horns on her head, a white dress, and he saw her ruby colored eyes. He extended her hand to her, but she backed away and cried some more. The poor thing.

Ryan knew she was terrified. He couldn't blame her, especially what she went through. He knew Ralts were shy and don't appear around humans much. Those that do approach humans do so by sensing their emotions. Maybe that's how he can help calm her down and gain her trust.

Ryan begins to sit down next to her while Blaze goes to him to keep him warm. Ryan took out his backpack and begins getting out two pieces of fruit. He gives one to Blaze, while the other he cuts into slices to give to the Ralts.

"Here you go," said Ryan as he offers the fruit to the young Pokémon. "It's good. It'll help you feel better."

Ralts begins moving her head up from her arms and sees the fruit before her. Her stomach began to growl when she saw the fruit and knew she was starving. Going over to the fruit, she begins grabbing a piece and take a bite. Her eyes widened with how good and juicy the fruit tasted. She begins slowly eating the fruit, while Ryan watched on happily.

It seems to be working. He begins to smile towards the Ralts, while he pets his Pokémon's head. Ralts begins looking over to the human and noticed the smile but was still hesitated to trust him. Blaze noticed this and spoke to the Ralts. Letting her know her human partner is good and won't try harming her.

Ralts wasn't sure if she could truly take the word of this Pokémon, but when she used her powers to feel the human's emotions, she saw he meant no harm to her. And only seeks to help her. Allowing her to slowly lower her guard around him.

Ryan saw her moving towards him slowly, which showed he was gaining her trust. He noticed her scratches and cuts some more, which caused him to take out a potion from his bag. When she saw the strange object, she backed away in fear.

"No, don't worry. This is medicine. It's supposed to help you, watch," Ryan demonstrates by spraying his Torchic a little to recover from the tackle from earlier. "See? He's feeling a lot better."

Blaze nods in response and reassured the Ralts the potion helps heal Pokémon. Ralts wasn't still sure about this, but she is hurting and didn't know how to take care of her injuries. So, she slowly goes back to the human and waits for him to spray her. Ryan sighed in relief that she's agreeing to this and begins moving the spray to her injuries.

"This will burn just a bit, but you'll feel completely better soon," said Ryan as he begins spraying her slowly, while noticing her wincing at first, before she calmed down and her injuries soon begin to heal. "There we go. That should do. Do you feel better?"

Ralts looked up to the human and begins to close her eyes before replying. Yes…thank you so much.

Ryan looked around confused when he heard a voice speaking to him…in his head. He then looked down at the Ralts and realized it was her.

"D-Did you just talk to me?" Ryan asked as he gets a small nod from her. "How did you…wait a minute," he begins to remember how Ralts are Psychic-type and how some can speak to humans through telepathy. "Mom said those are usually with adult Gardevoir though who can do that."

T-That's right. Ralts replied while still a little nervous. My mama, she taught me how to do this before she…she…she. Ralts couldn't continue speaking as memories of losing her mom caused her to tear up and begin bawling.

"H-Hey. It's okay. It's okay," Ryan replied as he carefully picks up the Ralts and begins comforting her for a hug. "You're okay. It's all okay. You're going to be okay."

Ralts begins bawling in the human's chest and clothes. Blaze begins trying to help comfort the poor Ralts, who has been through so much. Losing her mom and then being attacked. She clearly needs a lot of help.

After a few minutes of crying, Ryan begins feeling her stop crying. "There we go. Are you okay now?" she gives him a small nod, while trying to wipe away her tears. "I'm sorry for bringing that up, but if you have nowhere to go…would you like to come with us?"

Ralts looked up to the human unsure what she should say. She heard how human trainers are dangerous and don't care if Pokémon get hurt. But this one…he risked his life to save her own and despite claiming he was okay; she can sense he was in pain from his arm. She can also sense the Torchic seems to trust this human a lot, so maybe she should do the same?

W-Will I have to fight? Ralts asked while scared of the idea of fighting strong Pokémon.

"No, no, of course not. I won't force you to fight if you don't want to," said Ryan who wasn't going to force any Pokémon he catches to fight. "But you can join me on my journey if you want. What do you say?"

The Ralts thinks about this some more and knew traveling with this kind-hearted human wouldn't be so bad. It's better than her living around here all alone. She also didn't want to risk getting caught by those Poochyena again or have a mean human find her. Plus, traveling away from here where she lost her mom might be good for her.

O-Okay. I'll go. But um, does this mean you're going to put me in a Pokéball? Ralts asked who didn't seem keen on the idea of traveling in such a small ball.

Blaze though claimed to the Ralts its not so bad and feels nice. Though Ryan didn't want to force her in the ball if she didn't want to stay in it.

"I'll tell you what. I'll catch you in the ball and then have you travel with me outside of it. Okay?" Ryan asked as he took out the Pokéball and offered it to her.

Ralts could sense he was being truthful to her and will be out of the ball once she's caught. She presses the button and is pulled inside the ball. Once she was caught, Ryan lets out her and Ralts looked up to the human, happy. Ryan begins petting her head gently, making Ralts giggle softly.

"Welcome to the team," said Ryan as he saw a small blush come on her face. "Say, do you want me to give you a name too? I gave Torchic the name Blaze. Would you want one too?"

Ralts thinks about it and felt it wouldn't be so bad for him to know what to call her. She did have a name in mind though. It was one her mom gave her before she…well, before what happened. I actually have a name…Rachel. My name is Rachel.

"Rachel huh?" Ryan liked that and it was better than what he could come up with. "I like it. Nice to meet you, Rachel. I'm Ryan."

Ryan extended his hand to Rachel, who looked down at it and begins to shake his index finger with her small hand. Nice to meet you too…um, Mr. Ryan. Can I travel with you in your arms? I have small legs so um…

Ryan didn't need to hear anymore as he picked her up and held her in his arms. "Will this do?"

Rachel blushed a little and nods in response as Torchic looked away, a little jealous. Ryan noticed this and kneeled before petting his head. "Blaze don't worry. I promise I'll carry you next time, okay?"

Blaze looked over to his human trainer and nods in response. Ryan soon sees the rain begins to die down and the sun slowly began to appear.

"All right. Let's get back to my bike and then go see my mom before we begin our journey," said Ryan as he walked back with his Pokémon to his bike.

Ryan looked down at Rachel as she begins letting out a loud yawn and begins snuggling against him before she fell asleep. The poor thing. He couldn't blame her for falling asleep. He just hopes over time, once they get to the next town, his mom will be able to check her to make sure everything is okay.

What am I saying? Ryan thought who knew if anyone can make sure Rachel will be okay, its his mom. And once she's completely fine, then we'll begin our journey together. Who knows? She might end up wanting to join in the battles and get strong, like Blaze. But only if she wants to.

"In any case, I know this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship," said Ryan as he got excited to see what else his journey will bring him and what new Pokémon he'll run into, on his way to become the Pokémon Master.

That's the end and hope you all liked it. Yeah, made a lot of changes from how the original started off. I'll need to fix them whenever I have some free time. But yeah, Ryan and Rachel's journey in the Hoenn region has begun. Also, I decided to change Rachel to look like a Shiny Pokémon instead of her looking like an ordinary Ralts.

Also, yes, the story will follow the game a little along with some stuff from the anime. That includes bringing May in, who's goal is to become a Pokémon Coordinator, not trainer. Though to me its all the same. Also, no Max.

Sorry, but wasn't a big fan of the character and didn't feel the need to introduce him to the series. So, sticking it with more May being an only child.

Will we also see some more familiar characters? From the game, anime, and my first story? Only time will tell. You just have to keep on reading to find out.

Thank you, guys, so much for the support of my original story and I hope you'll enjoy this prequel. If you liked it, then please leave some reviews, but if you didn't, then no flame reviews. Also, thank you to my friend for his help as well, you're awesome. See you all next time, take good care, and see you all next time.

Bold- is for thoughts.

Italic- is for Pokémon talking to another Pokémon.
