History, for better or worse:
Alec is walking around Magnolia town out of boredom at sunset before a dark purple short haired woman calls out to him.
"Hey you!" The woman shouted, Alec turns around and sees Ur running up to him. "You're… the guy… Grey said, you saved me before I was melted away by Moon Drip."
"Ah now I remember, you're the one who taught Grey his bad habit. Anyway, how does it feel to be human again, Ur was it?" Alec says with intrigue. Ur was about to be rude but held her tongue, she then says, "Actually the last thing I recall is sealing Deliora away. Then when I awoke I found myself in an old woman's house in the forest with Grey all grown up at my bedside. It was quite a shock to be honest." Ur explains.
"I see well I have an important question for you." Alec's face gets extremely serious before asking, "Can you still use your magic? It's important for me to know, seeing as I made the spell on the spot without testing it."
Ur looks at her hands and clenches them into a fist turning her knuckles white. "I… haven't been able to access my magic since I woke up. I can feel it but it feels like it's blocked by something." Ur explains with frustration before releasing her clenched fists.
"I see… well if you want I can try to find a way to fix that but it sounds to me like your psyche is blocking your magic if anything. So it's not the spell I used which is good. But it's up to you to figure out what's blocking it not me." Alec explains, Ur scoffs.
"Whether or not I get my magic back doesn't matter to me. What matters is that my students are alive and safe. Thank you for saving me sir, please continue to take care of Grey." Ur says with a sweet smile, Alec nods and turns around and starts to walk back to the guild.
…
Lucy is in the Fairy Tail archives with Mirajane reorganizing old records. "Hey Mira, Alec mentioned a book I could read if I wanted to learn more about his magic. It's called 'History of Magic'. I looked everywhere in the library but couldn't find it. You wouldn't happen to know where it is, would you?" Mira ponders for a bit, thinking of the book Lucy just asked about before saying, "I haven't got a clue about that, maybe the master knows something about it."
"Perhaps, umm Mira I have one more question." Lucy asks.
"Go ahead.", "Why does Alec not tell anyone about him being a dragon?" Mira frowns.
"I asked him that same question once, he had this cold dark expression and said 'don't ask me again if you want to keep your limbs'. I never was terrified of anyone till that day. That's why it's best to avoid asking personal questions with him, just as a warning to you Luce." Lucy gulps, not realizing how close she was to asking Alec a personal question herself, counting herself lucky she asked Mira instead.
"What are you two doing in here?" Alec pokes his head around the corner of the doorway. "Hello Alec, just doing some organizing." Mira stated with her usual smile.
"Uh huh… what's Lucy doing in here then?", " I'm helping thank you very much." Lucy defended.
"Okay, well I guess you don't want this book then." Alec holds up the book he suggested she read but couldn't find.
"Hey, I've been looking for that for a few hours now. Give it to me!" Lucy runs over to Alec to snatch the book but to no avail. Alec just holds it above her head and puts his hand on her shoulder to prevent her from jumping.
"What's the magic word?" Alec says with a smirk, Lucy begins to pout. "Please hand me the book."
Alec releases his hand on her shoulder and hands Lucy the book. Lucy snatches the book from his hand then sticks her tongue at him and runs off. "She's a feisty human ain't she?" Alec comments, Mira just giggles.
…
Lucy sits at the bar and says, "Finally I get to read it!" Levy walks over to Lucy intrigued by what she's talking about. "What's that you got there Lu?"
"Oh hi Lev, it's a book about magic. Alec said if I wanted to know more about his magic I'd find it in this book."
"Really can I read it with you? I've never heard of such a book." Levy says. "Sure thing!" Lucy and Levy move to a table so they can read the book together. As Lucy opens the book a flash blinds the two of them. As their vision clears they see they are surrounded by nothing but a white void.
"Where are we?" Lucy asks. "I don't know Lu but I don't like it." Levy replies. They then see three figures in the distance.
"Hey let's go ask them!" Lucy points to the figures, Levy nods and they make their way towards them. All of a sudden they hear a booming voice coming from one of the figures.
"This world should be made to rule over!" The giant looking figure said. "Crea! That's a terrible idea what we should do is have the living beings fight to the death. To see which species is superior." The horned figure says.
"Of course the one who likes chaos would say that. It's so like you Dem." Crea states.
The figure third scaly figure sighs before saying, "Why don't we create our own respective realms and this world will be the medium between you two. I shall create a special dragon species called Watchers, they will be judge, jury, and executioner of this world for us when we disappear. They will also have the power to create and destroy like the three of us. However they will only be allowed to destroy life if they deem it necessary to protect the world. Otherwise they will run the chance of eternal slumber or even death. I will also place multiple seals on them to restrict them from abusing their full power."
"On the condition that the two of us can still create species in our image and can interact with the life here." Dem states, Crea nods in agreement.
"It seems we have come to an understanding. Let us proceed." The scaled figure says, the three stand in a circle and chant 'Creation Magic: World Life'.
Levy and Lucy then see the white void turn into a green forest with birds, flowers, and animals running around.
"Beautiful…" Levy says in awe.
"Hey look over there!" Lucy points to the scaled figure that can now be seen clearly in the shape of a white dragon. In front of the dragon sits four teenage looking dragons, a black dragon, a white dragon, a platinum dragon, and a silver dragon.
"You four and your descendants will be carrying a heavy burden I'm sorry but it's necessary. My time is almost up I fear, therefore I've created a book of knowledge for you all to pass down to your descendants and they are to continue doing so after you. I hope you all to continue what I cannot and add your knowledge to it including future generations." The old dragon says.
"We will, we promise!" The young dragons reassure.
"I'm glad. And should you ever feel lost look to the stars and he shall guide you." The young dragons nod and walk away from the elder out of view.
"Now that they are gone what are two humans doing in this place?" The dragon turns and makes eye contact with Levy and Lucy. The two gulp as the dragon makes its way towards them.
"Well, speak humans how are you here in the book of knowledge. Only the descendents of those four have access to this book. Now tell me where did you obtain it?" The dragon demands, Lucy takes a breath before saying, "A friend of ours gave it to me. I wanted to know more about his magic and he gave me this book. But when I opened it, we were brought here."
"I see… do you know where your friend got it then?" The dragon asks, Lucy shakes her head. "I'm sorry I don't, like I said he gave me this book so I can learn more about his creation magic cause he didn't want to tell me himself." The dragons eyes widen in shock. "Are you telling me there was a survivor!"
"Survivor?" Levy questioned.
"Yes, Creation magic can only be used by my brothers' select creations, myself, and my four children I created as dragons to take on the role of watching and protecting the mortal plain from darkness they are called Watchers. However none of them have set foot here in the last, give or take 400 years. I honestly began to worry that they were wiped out."
"Wait you've been alone here for 400 years!" Lucy cried out.
"Hmm… I guess so when you put it that way. But this book is vast with knowledge I can't stop going through all of the stories and magic know how the many generations have produced. Anyway you said you wanted to learn more about Creation magic. Well it's quite complicated and it would take centuries to tell you how it works but I can give you the short version if you'd like." The dragon suggested, Lucy and Levy nod eagerly awaiting for the dragon to speak.
The dragon clears it's throat and says, "Very well… Creation magic is basically a combination of imaginary and reality. But one must have the mentality to make the creation come into fruition, otherwise the caster will have a backlash and the body will shut down for days sometimes weeks. Creation magic can create new magic, existing magic, objects, and the most difficult and dangerous one of all is life itself. It's not limited to one kind of magic, it's limited only by imagination, knowledge and the stubbornness to create it. One can change how they appear if one really wanted too. The down side to it is that this magic can't improve in one type of magic, it's more like a jack of all trades if you will. If one with Creation magic wishes to improve in that field of magic, they would need to learn it from someone who actually uses it. That way, they can use it more efficiently and effectively so power behind the spell is more genuine. Although there is a darker version of Creation magic that is tied to their negative emotions and will destroy anything around the wielder and what they wish to destroy without limitation. Its highly forbidden and I won't tell you what it is for even I don't know what it is, this is only of what I've heard I apologize. Anymore questions I can answer before I send you back?"
"I'm confused, what do you mean my genuine?" Lucy asks.
"Simply put you humans have a better time mastering one type of magic then the Watchers that are required to learn all kinds of magic in order to defend and protect your world from darkness." The old Dragon explains.
"Last question, what exactly are these Watchers you spoke of?" The Dragon closes its eyes and begins to think.
"They are a type of dragon that are required to remain neutral in everything going on in the world. Unless they deem something or someone a threat to the world then they won't get involved in disputes. However if they feel threatened themselves they can still use Judgement on whom they deem the threat." The dragon explains.
"What if the dragon gets involved in a conflict because they felt it was right to do so but for a selfish reason?" Levy interrupts, "Hmm, you know what... I don't really know what might happen. If anything my guess would be that their magic would be depleted to a near human wizard's level. Anything else I can help with?"
"Not from me no, you were very helpful." Lucy states with a smile. "How about you blue haired one?"
"Actually you mentioned a Survivor and your last visitor being 400 years ago… what did you mean by that?" Levy asks the dragon.
The dragon sighs, "My last visitor was but a lone dragon. She said that war has come and many dragons have fallen to humans, even the Watchers themselves. She said they'd be going into hiding till it's safe, but that was a long time ago, and you two are the first beings to come after her."
"I'm sorry I brought it up.." Levy says with guilt.
"Don't be, you being here and what you've told me has given me hope once more. Please tell your friend to not forget about where they came from." The dragon says with a smile.
"We will, we promise." Lucy says, the dragon laughs and the world begins to become bright. Lucy and Levy cover their eyes."Goodbye humans. Take care of that child for me."
Levy and Lucy uncover their eyes to see they're back in the guild and everything is normal. They look down towards the book and notice it's gone and in its place an old note that says,
"I hope you're questions have been answered…"
Alec looks at the two confused mages from across the room. "Maybe this book was too advanced for the humans. Oh well, at least whatever consciousness lives in this book got a visitor to interact with. I always avoid the thing it's just too weird to see something that should be dead." Alec shivers at the thought of coming face to face with the old dragon in the book before heading to the second floor for the rest of the day.
