Chapter 1: Paul's New Decision.

Early month.

Through his travels through the Sinnoh his home region he looked down at his rival Ash Ketchum causing a quite the hatred and intense rivalry. Not mention that Paul himself tossed any Pokemon he deemed useless including those that didn't live up to his standards including his former fire type Chimchar. Then after his other defeat at the hands of Brandon the Pyramid King(who proclaimed he lost the battle due to his lack of emotion control however if he learns to control them then he can have a rematch)the cold hearted trainer seemed to less mock his rival Ash and has lighted up a bit. Paul and Ash battle again in the Sinnoh League with both sides giving their all and two of their last remaining pokemon. Ash's Infernape and Paul's Electivire battled again and this time Infernape emerges as the victor.

Ash has another talk with Paul(who admits that Infernape has gotten much stronger). Paul states he wants to return to snowpoint city to request his rematch against Brandon. As Paul leaves Ash suggest they have a battle one day soon which the purpled haired boy responds waving his hand.

Despite leaving Paul returns to watch Ash's battle against Tobias, however Darkrai's power overwhelms four of Ash's pokemon but falls to his Sceptile but gets defeated by Latios so does Ash's Swellow.

However despite the falling behind Ash sends out Pikachu and eventually ends up falling with Latios then after that Paul left feeling somewhat sad that his rival lost.

Paul wonders though if he were going up against Tobias would he be able to defeat two of his pokemon or would he lose the same as Brandon. Nobody knows not even Paul himself. Now that this new thought came to his mind, would he still be able to control his emotions even if he does and his Pokemon fall one by one would he lose control again.

Maybe he made his decision too soon when he told his rival that he was going to snowpoint city.

Before he left he send two of his pokemon to his brother Reggie leaving his Electivire, Froslass, Gastrodon, and Drapion with him.

Present

Paul was traveling through the route 215 once he made it out he would be at his home city. "As soon as I make it home, I'll decide if I want to go up against Brandon or just travel again to do more training." Coming up with a new decision was tough but thinking about it would distract him let alone give him a headache.

Short time later he heard rustling in the nearby tall grass. "Hmm?" He looked at the corner of his right eye to the direction. "What was that?" He prepared to take out his pokeball.

A Scyther came out. "Scyther!" The praying mantis pokemon cried out as it tried to swipe the trainer but he jumped backwards out the way. "I don't have to time to deal with this."

He took hold of a pokeball. "Electivire stand by for battle!" He threw the pokeball and out came his electric powerhouse pokemon. "Vire!" The large electric pokemon saw his opponent and stood his ground. "Electi! Electivire!" He gestured his large hand at the praying mantis which gave it the sign it wants to battle.

Sycther began to a frenetic dance and it's scythes glowed red which Paul recognized the move. "Swords Dance, interesting I guess." The mantis flew towards the electric pokemon with one of it sycthes which glowed dark. "That's Night Slash, Electivire Protect!" The electric creature put it's hands in front creating a large green light barrier and shielded itself from the attack.

"Grab it now!" Electivire prepared to grab it when Scyther disappeared which took Paul and Electivire by surprise. "Agility!" Just then the mantis appeared behind Electivire and used Night Slash again dealing damage. "Don't let up, use Thunder on yourself!" Electivire unleashed his own electric attack which confused Sycther. "It's time, use Thunder Punch!" Electivire dashed towards the mantis pokemon with high speed which took the it's opponent by surprise. "Electivire!" He landed it's attack onto the mantis pokemon and sending crashing onto the ground. "Scy-scyther..." The praying mantis groaned with dizzy eyes.

Paul was about to leave and then looked back at it for a second. "I admit it fell little quickly but it did take me by surprise for awhile." He took out an empty pokeball. "So I suppose I should take it." He tossed the pokeball and engulfed the mantis pokemon as it did it shook for a few seconds and then stopped. "So far, it knows Agility, Swords Dance, Night Slash." He took out his pokedex and checked it's fourth move. "X-scissor, hmm not bad." He put it in his pokeball on his waist.

As he came out of the forest he saw his home. "I wonder if Reggie is out..." He wondered as he walked through the city as he does there was tvs nearby that were on and broadcasting a battle frontier brain Palmer.

"This is Palmer facing against Cynthia the Sinnoh Region Champion!" The reporter talking to him was Rhonda. "I heard you battled against Cynthia, tell me what did feel like to go up against her!"

Palmer laughed proudly. "I admit it was amazing battle!" He got a little sulky. "But sadly I lost, but I held against her as much as my pokemon and I could, Cynthia isn't called the champion for nothing!"

"Is that so, what else has she been doing and did she meet any trainers that caught her attention?" Rhonda asked eagerly.

Palmer smiled. "Well, she meant a lot trainers but she did mention that two caught her interest however she didn't their names, but Cynthia does know potential when she sees it in someone." He raised his hands up. "However I happen to have met one of those two but I shall keep that to myself!"

Rhonda groaned in disappointment. "Aw, that's too bad!" Just then the one of her crewman Jack accidently drops the microphone boom on her head. "Can you keep that steady!?"

The big man stammered in fright. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" Palmer just laughed. "Easy ma'am, don't get so worked up."

Paul was interested then this. "Palmer goes up against Cynthia but loses, he must've done good though." He looked at his pokeballs and thought of more of this. "Imagine of Brandon decided to battle Cynthia or another champion someday, I can't imagine out stronger Brandon has become as well." He clenched his fist tightly. "So I need to sort out new ways to get stronger." A look of determination formed on his face. "It's decided then I-" Just then a hand was placed on his shoulder which took him by surprise. "What-" He turned to see his brother Reggie. "Hey Paul welcome home."

"Yeah sure." The purple haired teen replied. "Anyway, let's go home."

A short time later.

The two brothers returned home and went inside their house. "So Paul, how have you been doing?" Reggie asked. "I assume you want to battle with me." He realized the look on his brother's face like he was giving some deep thought about something. "Is something on your mind."

"I've been thinking about my rematch against Brandon." Reggie was puzzled. "I mean I know I needed to control emotions however I want if that's still enough."

Reggie wasn't quite understanding his brother's words. "I don't get it, are you saying you don't want to battle again?" Paul just smiled a little. "You know me better than that, I mean I need to get stronger and if you the battle frontier brains then you think you do, they're getting stronger as well."

Reggie laughed a little. "You got point there, no doubt that the champions will get stronger as well." He then smiled proudly. "I know I'm more proud of you than ever."

Paul looked at him in confusion. "What is that?" Reggie just smiled but spoke up. "That you gave more thought of this, I mean there is doubt that you do have control of over your emotions this time, but there might be more too than that." Then an idea occured to him. "I think we can test that with a battle."

Paul nodded in agreement. "Alright."

The two brothers went outside as their Pokemon went up to greet them. "Hey everyone!" Reggie waved happily while Paul just stared at his pokemon but despite his harsh training his pokemon smiled in return. "Hey, nice to see you guys."

Paul took out his pokeball and threw it. "Scyther stand by!" His newly bug pokemon emerged from it's pokeball. "Oh amazing, you caught a Scyther!" Reggie commented in amazement. "You want to use it right now?"

"I won't use it in a battle." Paul answered as he glanced at the mantis pokemon. "I want it to see that what battles we will have and face in the future." He then looked at his brother. "I prefer a one on one battle." Reggie nodded. "Alright, I shall use my Swalot and what will you use?"

Paul looked at his Ursaring. "I shall choose Ursaring!" The bear roared proudly.

"Let's begin!" The two brothers proclaimed. "Paul, you may have the first move!"

"Ursaring, Focus Blast!" The bear unleashed a blue ball of light and tossed inwards at amorphous pokemon. "Swalot Stockpile!" Swalot glowed pink. "Swa-swalot."

"In that case Usaring Bulk Up!" Paul commanded as the Hibernator pokemon bulked up it's muscles and roared. "Ur!"

"It's time, Spit up!" Swalot unleashed a pink beam of energy at Ursaring which landed a hit. "Ur!" The bear roared in pain. "Ursaring!"

"Now use Sludge Bomb!" Swalot unleashed a barrage of sludge at the bear which dealt damage as it was forced backwards as the bear blocked it but barely. "Alright Double Team!" A amout of Swalots surrounded Usaring. "Now use Shockwave!" That Swalots unleashed an electric shockwave that stunned Ursaring causing to growl in pain. "Come on, Paul fight back, or are you losing your cool again!"

The Hibernator pokemon stood up and narrowed it's eyes toward Swalot which Paul noticed. "Alright, let's get serious show my brother your power!" Those words got to Ursaring and roared out as it stomped it's feet into the ground causing a large quake. "Was that-" Reggie laughed proudly. "Congratulations, it learned Earthquake!" Paul smirked. "Time to test it again, keep up the Earthquake!"

That attack was super effective against Swalot as it groan it pain feeling the quake shaking it's body from beneath the ground. "Now it's time, Hyper Beam at full power!" Paul commanded as the bear unleashed it's orange red beam which hit Swalot's face and caused an explosion.

Paul and Ursaring stared closely to see if Swalot was still standing and to their relief Swalot as on it's stomach and knocked out. "Ur!" The bear roared triumphly. "A jod well done." He returned his pokemon to it's pokeball as he looked directly at Scyther. "That's how a battle will be like when things get tough and when caught in a situation."

Scyther nodded. "Scy!"

"Anyway Paul, have you made your decision?" Reggie asked.

Paul smiled softly. "I did, I decided to challenge the battle frontier." His brother smiled in return. "I figured so, but first let's have some chow, you and your pokemon are going to need your energy."

The next day.

Reggie was driving his brother to the dock at twinleaf town. "I believe, this is where the boat will take you to Kanto, that's where the battle frontier is."

The region's name got to Paul's head. "Kanto huh?" Reggie knew that response. "Ash's home region, maybe you'll meet him there."

Paul begged to differ. "Come on, if you know him than you think he must be on another journey." Reggie laughed in response. "Yeah, you got a point." He then thought of something. "You know, I realized how much you have changed since you returned home, I mean out of the trainers you met, Ash seems to be the influential." His brother's eyes widened. "It's no lie, Ash is always to determined so perhaps he must've gotten you to want to get stronger."

Paul smiled softly. "Whether he did influence me or not doesn't matter, what matters if I can beat him now or someday in the future."

Reggie chuckled a little. "If you say so."

Paul then looked at his pokeballs as Reggie noticed. "So you got Electivire, Sycther, and Torterra, right?" His brother nodded. "Yes, I'm keeping as is until I decide to call about any changes." Reggie nodded. "Yes, maybe you should pay a visit Professor Oak's lab, he might have something that can you help find each Battle Frontier and who knows you might see Infernape."

Paul didn't respond to that especially seeing Infernape again. "Well maybe, but if Oak has a map or something that can be useful it's worth a visit."

Eventually Paul got on the boat and as soon as he did looked down to see his brother waving along with his own pokemon. "Bye see Paul, call me when something comes up!"

Reggie gazed ahead as the boat got further away and away. "Good luck Paul." He smiled a little. "I hope you find some friends, I know you're kind of the lonewolf, but I also want you to be happy."

End of chapter.
