CHAPTER 10: Advances

They found him early in the morning, blood brothers with the floor. Eyes missing, with no trace left. The trail of blood he dragged behind him led them further. Another man missing his eyes was found next. His chest pressed in with incredible force. A palm print was left on his forehead. The trail continues and a boy is found with his body empty. The body slumped off the bed, bones shattered. The note beside the bed was written hastily, almost as if by a drunk. The dark subject matter appeared to be inscribed by a man with little left. The name at the end though, Guy, it couldn't be him. The witnesses, oh the witnesses came in. They proved the best they could, but it was no use. Guy might not have been convicted if not for his testimony. All he did was sob, barely able to keep any semblance of composure. His student and best friend were dead, what could he do? The trial would take months if not years. The springtime of youth was over, he was gone. The village gates were barred shut, he could not run through them. His cell was strong he couldn't bust it. He waited, waited for an opening. On the day of his first trial, he found it. As he was being transported, "Seventh gate, open." He overcame his captors and ran out. He moved as fast as possible. Moving faster than any shinobi on his tail could achieve. He had escaped, he was gone. Might Guy is a missing-nin.

The aftermath of Jiraiya's battle with Orochimaru was two damaged Sannin. One who ran and one who stayed. Jiraiya laid there, waiting for Tsunade to call him a fool. She did. "Idiot," she said as she began to heal the man with the always white hair, "Why did you have to fight that guy without any backup?". "Heh, nice of you to worry."

—-

Convincing Tsunade to return to the village was easier than Jiraiya thought. With no idea that Naruto's bravery had previously convinced her, Jiraiya was surprised when she told him "When is the coronation?"

"The what?"

"The coronation. If I'm gonna be Hokage I'm gonna need a coronation."

"When you get to the village and meet with the council."

"OK."

—-

The journey back to the village was much less eventful than the journey from it. With no moving target the group of five were dead focused on getting home. Until the realization hit Tsunade like a brick to the back of the head, "WHERE IS SHIZUNE?!".

—-

"I am sorry!" Tsunade sobbed as her apprentice looked down on her. "Am I that forgettable? I'm not loud like some people," while gesturing toward Naruto, "but I've been your apprentice for years now!".

—-

With the team of six now assembled, they finally head for the village at last. The squabbles between the members sounded throughout the forest.

"No, we can't eat TonTon."

"But I'm hungry.."

"Shizune's right Naruto, he's for dinner later"

"What?! TonTon will not be eaten! He is a pet!"

"Fine, but I'll be watching that pig."

"Who are those people running towards us?"

"Hey, I know those three…"

SASUKE'S REACTION

After the extinguishing of his master, Sasuke was a broken student. The murder made the papers; "THREE DEAD WITHOUT CAUSE, VILLAGE JOUNIN SUSPECTED!". With such publicity it was hard for Sasuke not to think about the case. There was something about the bodies of the victims, something didn't seem right. "THE EYES," Sasuke yells out in his hospital room, "Their eyes are all missing!." 'Now, where have I seen this before?' he thought. He began to focus, wondering where he'd seen this before. The flashbacks filled his mind, images from the worst night in his life. The night the Uchiha clan met it's demise to one of its own. In the back of his mind he remembered one blacked out detail. The bodies, the bodies didn't have their eyes. At the time he was too distraught to notice, but now he remembers. He remembers everything. 'Itachi did this, he caused this, my brother. I need to find him!'. Sasuke waited, like Hiashi before him until the dead of night. Unlike the murderer however, he was quiting the hospital. Hurily he raced off into the night, for the second time in a month he was chasing after his brother.

SASUKE RETRIEVAL TEAM

The council convened for something they never thought they would have to. Two missing Nin in two days is something they truly wished they could push off into the corner. Normally the duty of forming teams would be up to the Hokage, but with none available they would have to improvise. Two teams would be formed, one smaller, weaker one for Sasuke, and a much stronger one to search for Guy. The leaf could not loose the Uchiha or the Beast of the Leaf. The two teams would split up outside the village, searching for their target. In the event they cannot find their target in one week, they will return to the village where the target will be labled a Missing-nin. Team 10 would be sent after Sasuke. On the way after Sasuke, they would meet up with their missing member, Naruto, and Sakura. From there they would begin their search. The second team would consist of Anbu black-ops. They would Search for Guy in a sweeping pattern in a 100 mile radius.

TEAM 10

"So, Sasuke finally left," Summerized Asuma, "Now we have to clean up Kakashi' mess. Poor fool. Alright, Shikamaru, Choji, lets go meet up with Ino."

"What a drag."

—-

With that, Team 10 set out. Their first A-ranked mission. This moment will live in their minds forever. Sasuke's reasons for leaving the village didn't matter to a single one of them. All that mattered now was bringing the soon-to-be missing-nin home. This "drag" as Shikamaru would put it was their key to getting better jobs, whether they would admit it or not. They began to run out the village gates toward adventure, toward their teammate, toward Sasuke.
