CHAPTER 31: CERTAIN THINGS ARE PERMANENT
Naruto buried his wife on a cliff. She always liked it there. Of all of the Mount it was the most similar to Konoha. He spent the next few days mourning, he remembered this feeling. Something was different though, it hurt somewhere different. He left the mountain early in the morning, placing his son in Tsunade's care. Traveling to Konoha was one of the most difficult things he's ever done, but he couldn't let his son live in a world where men like Danzo could rule.
Cloaked, he arrived at the village gates. The Anbu guards tried to get a name, but instead they received a warning. Neither heeded, and attacked the Uzumaki instead. Both were crippled.
Naruto continued through the village streets, ignoring every memory that rushed into his head. When he reached Ichiraku, the memories started to flood in. "Hey, Naruto" he could swear he heard. Still, he pressed on.
He continued until he was right outside the Hokage's office. His target, the seeming source of all his suffering, was inside. He slowly and quietly proceeded through the building until he got to the office at the top of the stairs. Naruto knew he was going to fight whoever he found behind the doors, but he never could have guessed who he would find.
Nine months earlier, the office of Hokage was the most distinguished in the village. People would come from all around the village to get Tsunade's blessing. Five months later, the office's role shifted dramatically. Danzo had shifted the office from being semi focused on the military, to being the leader of a Stratocracy. He was in this role when a Uchiha survivor arrived in his office.
After his mission, Obito returned to the Akatsuki hide out to find it completely abandoned except for a cloaked figure and a white and black figure. "How dare you disturb Madara Uchiha" scolded Obito, but he was rebuffed. "If that's what you wish to call yourself, then that's how I'll address you, Obito." answered the cloaked man. "What do you want?" asked "Madara".
"The same thing you want, revenge against our village."
"That isn't what I want."
"Ah yes, your Infinite Tsukuyomi. That will suffice."
"What are you implying."
"I'm simply saying I can help you."
"And, what's in it for you."
"An experiment, my new jutsu versus the entire world," said Kabuto as he began to stand up, revealing his new snake-like features, "I can't think of a better test." "Who is your friend over there?" asked Obito. "That is Zetsu, think of him as my assistant." Obito and Kabuto began to talk, realizing that Kabuto's new jutsu can win against even the strongest foes. A week after this, Obito set out for the Hokage, he would eliminate him and place himself incharge. This occurred four months prior to the birth of Naruto and Ino's child.
In the present, Obito was behind the door when Naruto barged his way into the Hokage's office. "Naruto Uzumaki," said Obito, staring down his opponent. "Who the hell are you?" demanded Naruto, "Where is the Hokage?" "I am Madara Uchiha," said Obito as Danzo sprung up from behind the desk, "And this is your Hokage!" Danzo struck at Naruto, forcing him to run away. 'Damn it!' thought Naruto, 'This is so strange.' Naruto began to try and escape, but every corner seemed to be filled with root shinobi. Suddenly, as Naruto rounded a corner he saw Itachi. "What are you doing here?" questioned Naruto. "Get down!" shouted Itachi as he sprouted his Susanoo and pitched up Naruto.
"How did you know I was here?" questioned Naruto. "Sakura said you would be here. She knew you wouldn't allow Danzo to get away with everything," said Itachi as he swatted away the enemy shinobi. "Then why are you here? I can take care of myself!" "Obviously you can't, or I wouldn't be here." said Itachi as his Susanoo began to flicker. 'Damn eyes he thought.' "I came here to get you because we learned something Important." "About what?" "Not what, whom."
Mount Myoboku had been in a frenzy ever since Naruto left. As the toads were beginning to clean up the bodies, they noticed the skin flaking off. Under the facade of each Root-nin was the body of another shinobi. After learning this, the toads began to clean off every body and learn who each root-nin started as. That is what Naruto learned when he arrived back on Mount Myoboku.
"They're all villagers!" he said as he approached Konohamaru's corpse. "I'm sorry, Konohamaru, Your big brother should have protected you," Naruto said, "Were there any who survived?". "Hinata," answered an approaching Tsunade, "She was on death's door, but she is now stable." "And, my son?" "Sakura has him right now." "Where is she?"
Naruto heard Sakura cooing as he walked through the tent's entrance. "I've never seen you like this," said Naruto, startling Sakura. "Yeah, I don't think I have," said Sakura, never removing her attention from the baby, "I've never had emotions like this before." "What's his name?" asked Naruto. "I'm just the Godmother, Naruto. I believe that the name is up to you." "Inosuke," said Naruto, "Ino talked about that name. Inosuke Uzumaki." "I like that name." "Yeah…" said Naruto, picking up his son, "Come on Inosuke, let's go meet your Grandmother."
