A new year, a new dawn for Drake and his friends when it comes to protecting Canada and their duties for dragon training. But this year, the Chicago Blackhawks have trained dragons, countering the Alpha Team's strategy, so now Drake must deal with this threat, while facing some new ones. But at the same time, some secrets will be revealed about Shadow's gift before it is too late.

After the Ultimate War, Drake and his friends are living the life as both soldiers and dragon tamers. During those times, they run into new allies, like Captain Rose "Ironfist" Tymbark and the team SC Reg, but also face new enemies, such as Adam Hunter, leader of the Chicago Blackhawks. But Drake also unlocks secrets of Shadow's angelic gift during his missions and adventures.

The story takes place in a dystopian future when there's the Ultimate War (the battle of humans and dragons). A young teen named Drake Dalloway aspires to join the Canadian Forces and to avenge his father. After finally capturing his first dragon and with his chance at last gaining the acceptance, he finds that he no longer wants to kill it and instead befriends it.
