Chapter 7

On Sunday Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup had all flown to the mall. Buttercup headed to her job at Varsity Gear, while Bubbles clocked in for her shift at Paws and Claws. Meanwhile, Blossom hung out with Robin, watching her work at the coffee bar and chatting about nonsense. Before the end of their shifts, Blossom casually mentioned she had news to share with everyone later.

The girls finished their five-hour shifts at three in the afternoon. Robin wiped down the last of the surrounding tables, slung her backpack over her shoulder, and beamed.

"Alright, we're headed to my place to study! I've got snacks, and you girls already have pajamas there, so we can make it a sleepover!" Robin declared enthusiastically.

Bubbles squealed, "Oh my gosh, yes! That sounds like so much fun!"

Buttercup and Blossom exchanged knowing looks but didn't say anything, simply following as Robin led the way to her house. They flew Bubbles carrying Robin, the afternoon sun dipping lower in the sky as they chatted lightly about their day.

Robin's home was a charming two-story house nestled in a quiet neighborhood. The exterior was painted a soft sage green with white trim, and a swing hung from the large oak tree in the front yard. Inside, the house was warm and inviting, filled with mismatched but cozy furniture, family photos, and the faint smell of freshly baked cookies. Robin's mom Maggie Synder was in the kitchen when they arrived, wearing a cheerful apron decorated with sunflowers.

"Girls! It's so good to see you again," Mrs. Snyder greeted, wiping her hands on a towel. "I take it you're staying the night?"

Robin nodded. "Yeah, we've got some studying to do. Is that okay, Mom?"

Mrs. Snyder waved a hand. "Of course it's okay! I'll call your father and let him know. You know how he gets if he's not kept in the loop. Are you girls hungry? There's plenty in the fridge."

"Thank you, Mrs. Snyder," Blossom said politely, while Bubbles gave her a hug.

Robin's dad, James Synder a college history professor, wasn't home yet, but his office was visible from the hallway. The shelves were packed with books on ancient civilizations and artifacts from his travels. It added an academic charm to the house, making it feel like a place where ideas thrived.

The girls naturally gravitated to Robin's room, which felt like a second home to them. The room was a mix of bright and bold, with posters of various bands and inspirational quotes on the walls. Her bed was covered in a patchwork quilt, and a cozy bean bag sat in the corner. There was an organized chaos to the space, with books, notebooks, and art supplies scattered in a way that reflected Robin's personality.

Robin and Bubbles flopped onto the bed, while Blossom set up her laptop at Robin's desk. Buttercup grabbed a spare blanket and stretched out on the floor, propping herself up on her elbows as she spread her biology notes out in front of her. Robin turned on some soft music, and they began studying in peaceful concentration.

Blossom typed diligently on her laptop, while Robin and Bubbles groaned about their geometry homework. Buttercup, engrossed in her biology textbook, hummed as she reviewed her notes. An hour in, Robin let out a frustrated groan and tossed her book aside.

"I can't do it. It's too many formulas and numbers," she complained, flopping dramatically onto her back.

Blossom pushed her pink-rimmed glasses up the bridge of her nose and floated over. "Let me take a look." She scanned the page, grabbed a blank sheet of paper, and began explaining the problem. Robin and Bubbles listened intently, jotting down notes and nodding as things began to click.

Meanwhile, Buttercup's phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen and saw a text from her biology partner, Alan.

Alan Bio Partner: Hey, I'm doing bio homework and completely lost. Do you understand any of this crap?

Buttercup snorted softly and replied: Hey, no, I don't understand it, but I'm revising my notes and trying to figure it out. Thinking about just looking up the answers.

She set her phone down and returned to her notes. Two minutes later, it buzzed again.

Alan Bio Partner: Tried that. Answers aren't online. I have a friend who took this class last year. I'll see if he still has his papers or remembers any of it and let you know.

Buttercup smiled faintly and sent a thumbs-up emoji before diving back into her work. The girls took turns grabbing snacks and drinks from the kitchen, each time warmly greeted by Mrs. Snyder, who seemed to delight in their company. They took breaks to chat, but the atmosphere remained focused and productive.

Suddenly, Blossom shot up with a bright smile. "Oh my gosh, girls! I forgot to tell you—guess who's going to be the president of the committee for her senior year!"

Bubbles shrieked in delight and threw her arms around Blossom. Robin jumped on the bed, shouting congratulations, while Buttercup gave Blossom a firm pat on the back.

"That's awesome. You're going to crush it," Buttercup said with a smirk.

Blossom beamed and explained that she needed to choose a vice president by the end of the year. She also brought up the Junior and Senior tradition.

Robin's eyes lit up. "So, are you keeping the tradition?"

Blossom hesitated. "I don't know. I mean, I like the idea, but the drinking and the smoking-"

"Legal age to drink here in Townsville is sixteen," Buttercup interjected. "And cigarettes and vapes aren't really drugs."

Blossom sighed. "I know. I'm thinking of keeping it but with limited alcohol and no cigarettes. Vapes are fine, but I can't stand cigarettes."

Bubbles gave Buttercup a pointed look, grinning. "See? Told you Blossom would keep it."

Robin raised a brow. "When's the first party?"

Blossom exhaled. "In two weeks, on a Saturday. I'm nervous. I have to organize everything—find Home Ec students to prepare food, secure a location, and make sure we have decorations and music. Daisy and Jake said they'd handle entertainment, but it's still a lot."

"Relax," Robin said. "Bubbles and I are in Home Ec. We can talk to Mr. Crane about the food. It's no big deal."

Buttercup chimed in. "And I'll scout locations. I've been to tons of parks and isolated spots around Townsville. I'll find the perfect place."

Bubbles hugged Blossom tightly. "We've got your back. You're not alone in this."

Blossom's face softened as she hugged them back. "Thanks, you guys. I really appreciate it."

Robin clapped her hands, drawing their attention. "Okay, serious question: who wants pizza?"

Buttercup pumped a fist in the air. "Hell yeah!"

Blossom laughed. "I'm in."

Bubbles added, "As long as one's vegetarian, count me in."

Robin grinned and placed the order for one pepperoni, one vegetarian, and two cheese pizzas. The girls sprawled out on Robin's bed, watching TV and laughing together while they waited. While the girls chatted and laughed, Buttercup's phone buzzed on the floor beside her. She picked it up, glanced at the screen, and grinned.

Alan Bio Partner: Sooo got the answers. I'm sending them now.

Buttercup sent a relieved emoji followed by a quick "Thanks!" before setting her phone aside.

Robin, lounging comfortably on her bed watching tv, suddenly sat up, her face animated with curiosity. "Okay, girls, we need to talk! Have you noticed how some of the guys at school have been looking... different lately? Like, hotter?"

Bubbles giggled. "I think it's less about looking different and more about them just growing up. You know, maturity can make a big difference."

Blossom's cheeks tinged pink as she adjusted her glasses. "I mean... I get what you're saying. The guys in my AP classes—while not exactly anyone's definition of cool—do have a certain nerdy charm."

Robin rolled her eyes dramatically, tossing a pillow at Blossom. "Girl, you forfeited your right to judge what's hot after you dated Dexter. Eighth grade and freshman year? Really? I still can't believe you thought he was attractive."

Blossom caught the pillow and hugged it defensively. "Hey, Dexter understood me, okay? He was sweet, smart, and really romantic in his own way. Honestly, if he hadn't moved away, we'd probably still be dating."

Robin made a face. "And thank God he did move away. Blossom, you deserve so much better than 'adorable tech nerd.' Like, that was a phase, right? Please tell me it was a phase."

Bubbles clutched her heart theatrically. "Robin! Be nice! I thought Dexter was sweet, too. He and Blossom were adorable together!"

Robin arched a brow and smirked. "Oh, really, Bubbles? Because if we're talking about questionable taste in boys, let's not forget Finn. Your high school sweetheart was the king of emotional unavailability. Every girl was after him, and he still acted like he couldn't care less."

Bubbles opened her mouth to defend herself, but before she could, Robin's mom knocked lightly on the door and walked in with a warm, welcoming smile.

"Alright, ladies," she said, setting down several pizza boxes along with paper plates, napkins, and a tray of cookies. She glanced at them fondly. "I'll let the professor know you're all staying the night. Have fun, and don't stay up too late!"

The girls chorused their thanks as Robin's mom left, leaving the aroma of fresh pizza in her wake. They eagerly opened the boxes—one pepperoni, one vegetarian for Bubbles, and two plain cheese pizzas—and dug in.

Robin grabbed a slice and reclined back against her pillows. "Okay, back to what I was saying. The Rowdyruff Boys Butch has gotten bigger, Brick has gotten hotter—pun not intended—and Boomer? He's, like, charming now! Who saw that coming?"

Blossom nearly choked on her pizza. "Yeah and they're still evil,"

The room fell silent as the other girls turned to stare at her.

Robin dropped her pizza, her expression turning gleeful. "Oh my God! Did you just admit you think they're hot?"

Bubbles giggled, trying to stifle her laughter behind her hand. Buttercup looked somewhere between disgusted and horrified.

"I-I didn't mean it like that!" Blossom stammered, her face burning red. "Let's just—let's just watch TV or something!"

Robin grinned like a cat who had cornered a mouse. "Oh, no, no, no. You started this, Blossom. Now, we all have to answer: which Rowdyruff do you think is the hottest? And no chickening out."

Buttercup groaned, glaring at Robin. "This is ridiculous. Can we not?"

Robin ignored her, pointing to herself. "I'll go first. Butch. Hands down. He's buff, he has those tattoos, and that wolf cut? Swoon. Your turn, Bubbles."

Bubbles cleared her throat nervously. "Um... Boomer? He's just... nice, you know? Like, he has this inviting presence."

Robin smirked and turned to Blossom, who was still red-faced and trying to avoid eye contact. "Your turn, Blossy."

Blossom folded her arms with a huff. "Fine. If I have to play this immature game, I guess... Brick or Butch."

Buttercup's face twisted into a look of pure disgust. "What is wrong with you three? That's gross!"

Robin rolled her eyes and shrugged. "Fine, Buttercup, we get it. Just admit you're a lesbian already."

Blossom and Bubbles couldn't help themselves—they turned away, shoulders shaking as they tried to suppress their laughter. Buttercup, meanwhile, glared daggers at Robin.

"For the last time, I'm not a lesbian. I'm just not interested in dating or boys or any of this nonsense right now! Sorry I'm not 'boy crazy' like the rest of you," she snapped, crossing her arms.

Robin raised her hands in surrender, smirking. "Okay, okay, no need to bite my head off. Just saying—if you were, no judgment."

The girls resumed eating in silence for a moment, the air buzzing with leftover amusement and embarrassment. Buttercup rolled her eyes but couldn't help a small, reluctant smile as Bubbles passed her a cookie.

As the night wore on, the girls changed into their pajamas and crammed themselves onto Robin's bed. It was a tight fit, with limbs overlapping and blankets tugged in every direction, but none of them seemed to mind. It was comforting to be together, even if Buttercup grumbled about Bubbles stealing the covers and Blossom muttered about needing more space. Robin just rolled her eyes and muttered before they all drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, a blaring alarm shattered the quiet. Robin's clock buzzed insistently at 7 a.m., startling her and Blossom awake—and promptly sending them both tumbling off the bed.

"Ow!" Robin groaned, rubbing her elbow as she sat up.

Blossom untangled herself from a heap of blankets, her hair mussed and her bow lopsided falling on the ground. "Why is your alarm set for seven in the morning?!" she demanded, stifling a yawn.

Still on the floor, Robin let out a dramatic sigh. "Because, unlike you three superpowered show-offs who can fly and have super speed, I'm a normal human. I actually need time to shower, eat, and get ready so one of my parents can drive me to school. Now, if you'll excuse me…" She grabbed her uniform and bolted toward the bathroom. "Shower time!"

Bubbles and Buttercup exchanged amused glances before springing into action. The sisters zipped around Robin's room, grabbing the spare uniforms they kept at her house for mornings like this. Buttercup snatched her socks while Blossom rescued her pink bow from under the bed. Bubbles held up her plaid skirt triumphantly.

In a blur, the three sisters dashed to Robin's spare bathroom, toothbrushes in hand. Inside, they jostled for space at the sink.

"Sharing a bathroom sucks," Buttercup grumbled as she brushed her teeth with exaggerated aggression. "I never realized how spoiled I am having my own at home."

Bubbles hummed in agreement, carefully tying her hair into its signature pigtails. Blossom, having air-dried her hair in a matter of seconds, hastily brushed it into place and re-secured her bow.

By the time the sisters returned to Robin's room, Robin was a flurry of activity, frantically packing her school bag. She nearly tripped over her own feet as she shoved her textbooks inside and pulled on her shoes. Catching sight of Bubbles and Blossom, she paused long enough to fuss over their hair—tightening Bubbles' pigtails and adjusting Blossom's bow.

"There," Robin declared, stepping back to admire her handiwork. "Presentable. Now, let's go!"

"Good morning, Mrs. Snyder. Thanks for the spread," Buttercup said, grabbing five pieces of bacon and toast.

Maggie smiled warmly. "You're welcome, dear. There's more if anyone's hungry."

Blossom grabbed a bagel from the counter, quickly spreading cream cheese on it. "Thank you, Mrs. Snyder!" she called as she darted toward the door.

Bubbles, ever the healthy eater, chose a slice of avocado toast. "Thanks for everything!" she added, rushing out with her toast in hand.

Robin, moving slower than her superpowered friends, made herself a quick waffle sandwich. She stuffed it into a napkin, kissed her mom on the cheek, and dashed out the door. Buttercup lingered a little longer, sipping on orange juice and helping clean up the table.

"Thanks again, Mrs. Snyder," she said as she wiped the counter. "You're the best." With that, she flew off to catch up with her sisters.

By the time they arrived at school, the morning rush had them all cutting it close. The girls landed discreetly in front of the school and bolted toward their respective classes. Blossom sprinted to her AP chemistry, her bag bouncing on her shoulder. Bubbles hurried to her art class, clutching her sketchbook. Buttercup, on the other hand, strolled leisurely toward her English class, completely unbothered by the time.

The morning dragged on, and lunchtime couldn't come fast enough. Blossom, ever punctual, was the first to arrive at their usual spot by the cafeteria door. She tapped her foot impatiently, scanning the crowd for her sisters and Robin.

Finally, the group reunited. Robin arrived first with cookies from home economics. Bubbles appeared next, her pigtails slightly disheveled, though her cheerful demeanor was intact. Buttercup sauntered in last, looking calm and composed as ever.

The girls entered the bustling cafeteria and split off into different lunch lines, each picking out their favorites. Once their trays were filled, they regrouped at their usual table. As they began eating, Robin's gaze drifted toward the entrance, where a steady stream of students filed in. She grinned suddenly; eyes fixed on a specific group.

"What's got you smiling like that?" Bubbles asked, munching on her salad.

Robin didn't answer right away. Instead, she leaned toward Blossom with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Sooo, Blossom... want me to tell Brick or Butch you've got a—"

"Don't you dare!" Blossom hissed; her eyes wide with panic. She glanced nervously toward the boys across the room. "They have super hearing!"

Robin stifled a laugh, but her grin only widened. Without warning, she stood up and called out loudly, "Brick! Butch! Boomer!"

Blossom's jaw dropped, her face turning crimson. "Robin!" she whispered harshly, glaring daggers at her friend.

Bubbles' face turned a matching shade of red as she shrank in her seat, while Buttercup remained unfazed, calmly chewing her burger.

The boys turned their heads at the sound of their names and, with an air of effortless confidence, made their way over to the table. Their strides were casual, but their smirks were anything but subtle.

"Well, well, what can we do for you, gorgeous?" Butch asked, his smirk aimed squarely at Robin.

Before Robin could respond, Bubbles fixed Butch with an icy glare. He coughed awkwardly, quickly stepping back a pace and clearing his throat.

Robin, flustered but amused, waved off the tension with a nervous giggle. "I just wanted to see if you guys were free tonight. There's a party at Lindsey's house. Her parents are out of town, and I actually don't have work for once. It's at nine."

Brick leaned casually against the table, his grin widening. "A party, huh? Yeah, we're in. Nothing better to do."

Boomer's face lit up with enthusiasm. "Sounds fun! Where's the address?"

Robin handed her phone to Brick. "Here, just put your numbers in, and I'll text you the details."

Butch eagerly entered his number with a flourish, flashing Robin a wink as he handed the phone to Boomer. Boomer added his number with a cheerful smile, while Brick took his time, typing it in with deliberate calm.

"See you tonight," Boomer said, giving a friendly wave toward Bubbles. He started to sit down beside her, but Blossom quickly raised a hand to stop him.

"Uh, no. We don't associate with criminals," she said firmly, her tone laced with disapproval.

Butch scowled, but Boomer simply shrugged, his smile unwavering. "Right. Got it. Let's go, guys—I'm starving."

The boys said their goodbyes and strolled off to their usual table on the other side of the cafeteria.

As soon as they were gone, Robin whirled on Blossom, her hands folded disapprovingly. "What is your problem?"

Blossom frowned, crossing her arms defensively. "Nothing. I just... can't help it. Every time I see them; I want to punch them."

Robin rolled her eyes. "They're not like they used to be, Blossom. Give them a chance."

Before Blossom could respond, Buttercup chimed in, her tone skeptical. "And when exactly were you planning to tell us about this party?"

Robin smirked, her mischievous energy back in full force. "I just did. And now that Blossom's made it clear she thinks they're still dangerous, I know you three have to come. You know, just in case."

Blossom opened her mouth to protest, but Robin cut her off with a squeal of excitement. "Our first high school party! Eep, I'm so excited!"

The sisters exchanged glances, each with a different reaction. Blossom looked apprehensive; her brow furrowed in thought. Bubbles smiled faintly, unsure but intrigued. Buttercup, meanwhile, leaned back in her chair, an unreadable expression on her face as she bit into a fry.

"Tonight is going to be... interesting," Blossom muttered.

Robin grinned. "Oh, it definitely will be."

The girls returned to their lunches, each of them mentally preparing for whatever the evening might bring.
