Kal'tsit could not believe it…She did not want to believe it, but the results did not lie. The doctor and Yua were related…They were father and daughter. "How on Terra did this happen? When did this happen?" Kal'tsit thought to herself, the shock of this discovery was still hard to believe. She was pacing around the office, still trying to absorb the fact that the doctor had a child, and she was an operator for Rhodes Island.
Speaking of the girl, Kal'tsit could now understand why Yua had acted the way she did around the doctor. "I knew there was something Yua was hiding, but even I didn't expect this. Then again, looking at it now, it makes sense. The doctor... he's an ancestor of the sarkaz. It explains why she has their features. But why is she trying to hide it? What other secrets does she have? I need to find out."
Confronting Yua about what she knew could cause a massive amount of trouble that the ancient feline did not want to have to deal with, especially if other operators found out about this; it could cause dissent in the ranks. Also, Kal'tsit had another grim realization: "Certain operators could use this information against the doctor, I know someone who would love to have this information, to her this would be ideal to use against the man, with how much she hates him there is no telling what she would do." Kal'tsit was thinking of a certain sarkaz mercenary; just the idea of her knowing this sent shivers down Kal'tsit's spine.
Regarding the doctor, the ancient feline wondered when the doctor became a father. She recalled during their days in Babel that the man was incredibly busy fighting a war, so he didn't seem to have the time. Did he have a secret lover outside of Babel? It was possible, but again, how did he find the time? Perhaps during one of his trips away from Babel, Kal'tsit concluded. Also, before the doctor lost his memories, was he aware he had a child and decided to keep her a secret? Or did he simply abandon Yua and her mother to their fate? Either was a possibility with the man given how he was at the time.
Then again when he was looking after Amiya he seemed like a caring man towards her, he definitely acted like a father towards the girl, this could cause friction between the two of them, Kal'tsit believed, Yua could feel jealous or envious that she never got that, or Amiya could feel the same knowing she isn't blood related to the doctor; "Another potential problem, last thing Rhodes Island needs is those two at each other's throats," the list of problems was building up for Kal'tsit.
Finally, Kal'tsit thought about the doctor. How would he react to this news? She was debating whether or not she should tell him; Kal'tsit did despise the man for his actions in the past, she could never truly forgive him, and she did want him to pay for what he did, but she put her grudge to the side as they both wanted to rid Terra of oripathy, so she was willing to work with him for a common goal.
Kal'tsit still wanted to get back at him somehow, and she did think about withholding this information for that purpose. To her, though, that would have been too cruel; imagine your child was killed in an operation and you didn't know it, only to find out later while you had already buried her. Even the ancient feline thought that was too much; even though Yua was hiding secrets from her, the white-haired lung hadn't done anything wrong to Kal'tsit, so she shouldn't have to pay for her father's crimes when she wasn't involved.
Deciding it was best to let the doctor know, Kal'tsit put the results sheet in her pocket. She then cleaned up her coffee from earlier and left her office to look for the man. She searched across the landship but could not find him. "The one time I want to see him, he is nowhere to be found," Kal'tsit thought to herself while looking for the doctor. The ancient feline then remembered the doctor was getting personnel changed over for guarding the mine; Kal'tsit realized he was probably at the entrance of the landship.
Kal'tsit saw the doctor talking to someone; it was the blue-haired lung named Ch'en. She was probably being assigned as the squad leader for dealing with the mine situation; she was certainly capable. Hearing someone approaching, they stopped the conversation and turned their heads to see who was approaching.
"Hello, Doctor Kal'tsit," Ch'en said. "Good to see you." Kal'tsit replied, "Good to see you as well, Miss Ch'en. I trust you are the squad leader regarding the mine." Ch'en nodded. "Yes, I have just finished getting briefed by the doctor; my team and I will be heading out now. Have a good day to both of you." Ch'en then left, leaving the two of them at the entrance.
"So why did you come down here, Kal'tsit? Did you need me for something?" Kal'tsit responded, "Yes, it is very important; we will head back to the office. We can't have anyone listening." The doctor thought this sounded quite ominous. Whatever it was the ancient feline wanted to say, it must be incredibly important if she didn't want anyone listening in to what they were saying. Nodding, the two of them headed to the office.
Once they arrived, Kal'tsit locked the door and faced the doctor. The man asked, "What did you need to speak about?" Reaching into her pocket, Kal'tsit grabbed the results sheet from earlier and handed it to the doctor. She simply told him, "Read it." Complying with her request, the doctor opened the piece of paper and read it. When he finished, he was in a complete state of shock; looking at Kal'tsit, she simply nodded to confirm it was true.
Asking how she found out Kal'tsit mentioned Yua and Warfarin, Kal'tsit explained the situation with them. There was only one person Warfarin couldn't control herself around before, she explained. From there, the ancient feline said she had a theory that she wanted to confirm, and the results of it were exactly what the doctor was seeing now. She then asked, "What will you do now, doctor? This isn't something that can be ignored, and it can't be common knowledge; too many potential negative outcomes."
The doctor was still taking this information in; he registered what Kal'tsit had said but couldn't reply. The fact that he had a living, breathing relative on Rhodes Island, a daughter no less, was at the forefront of his mind. This girl could have answers to his past; when he awoke from the coffin in Chernobog, he couldn't remember anything about himself. He tried to ask Kal'tsit and a certain mercenary for answers, but they refused to tell him. Now, he had someone who could tell him.
Yua seemed like a capable operator, what she did by protecting a fellow teammate made the doctor feel torn, on one hand he was proud of her for doing something so selfless, on the other hand with what he knew now it made him feel afraid, he could have lost her, his daughter, and he wouldn't have known. He didn't want that to happen. He wanted to get to know this girl, and he hoped she wanted the same.
The doctor told Kal'tsit, "I'm going to go see Yua. I will let her know the truth, and she could tell me what I need to know." Leaving the office, the doctor headed for his daughter's room; he knew she would be there. As the ancient feline watched him leave, all she could think was, "Please don't do anything stupid, you fool."
Resting on her bed, Yua was still thinking about the incident with Warfarin; why did she act like that? It was completely unexpected. How would Kal'tsit deal with Warfarin later? Yua also thought about her injury; she was glad Vanilla wasn't hurt, but she knew she couldn't keep putting herself in harm's way. She had to go about things differently. Her thoughts were broken by a knock at her door. When she went and opened it, she expected a green-haired oni, not the doctor of Rhodes Island.
This was the last person she expected to see, what was he doing here? Her question was soon answered when the doctor spoke.
"Hello Yua, or should I say my daughter?"
