"Hello Yua, or should I say my daughter?"

Yua's world had just come crashing down at that moment; she didn't know what to think. How did he find out? "This can't be happening!" Yua actually hoped that she was in a nightmare right now. It would probably be better than what she was going through at this very moment. Seeing the man in front of her, Yua looked like she saw a ghost, he asked, "Can I come in? It's probably best we talk inside your room; I don't want any prying ears listening in." Yua knew his suggestion was best, so she invited the doctor inside.

Once inside, the young girl sat on her bed; Yua knew the doctor would have questions for her. She still couldn't let him know she was from the future; it could throw everything off course. "This is going to be an interrogation," she thought. "I can't let him know the complete truth; I will need to give him answers that seem plausible. First things first, I need to ask him how he found out." Yua spoke up first. "Before anything else, doctor, I need to ask you something. How did you find out? " she said.

The doctor pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to Yua. "Kal'tsit gave this to me." Taking the piece of paper, Yua opened it and read it. "Of course, I should have guessed Doctor Kal'tsit would find out; she was always hungry for knowledge." Yua thought when she discovered that the ancient feline found out that she was the doctors daughter. The doctor then spoke. "Listen, Yua, I want to ask you something. Why did you come to Rhodes Island? Was it to find me?" Yua replied, "Partly, I have other reasons for coming here, which are more important. I'm sorry, but I can't tell you about them right now."

"Are they really that important? Why can't you tell me?" the doctor asked. "I have my reasons; I know it seems like I am not trustworthy, but please, you must understand," Yua replied. Conceding that he would not get answers from her, the doctor decided to trust her. The doctor wished she would tell him, though. "Okay, Yua. There are things I want to know. Why didn't you and your mother come to Rhodes Island with me before I lost my memories? I have amnesia, so I can't remember anything about my past."

Yua had heard about the doctor's amnesia during a training session with Hoshiguma; seeing now how bad it was, she did feel pity for him. She almost wanted to tell him the truth but decided against it. Yua fed the doctor a hopefully believable story: "My mother told me when I was young that you were a very important person, so we couldn't stay with you because you had enemies. So we lived in the slums of Lungman. She said she understood why you had to leave us; she didn't hold it against you."

"So i abandoned them." The doctor grimly thought. He started to really hate how he used to be; he cursed his past self for leaving his family, for Yua's mother to not hold it against him told him that she was a kind, forgiving woman. The doctor felt that she was too good for someone like him; in his eyes, he didn't deserve someone like her.

Deciding he wanted to know more about the woman he had left behind, he asked Yua, "Do you mind telling me about your mother? I want to know more about her." Complying with his request, Yua obliged with a familiar lie. "My mother's name was Hei; she was a lung like myself, and she died not too long ago of oripathy." The doctor started to despise himself even more. "I didn't just abandon her; I practically left her to die. I can understand if Yua hates my very existence." Yua continued with her story. "She did teach me how to use a sword. It was dangerous where we lived; crime and disease were everywhere, and the Lungman government refused to help the infected in the slums, so we were on our own."

"I loved her, though," Yua continued. "To others, she was just another infected lung in the slums with her daughter, but to me, she was my everything." Yua finished her story. The doctor, hearing all of this, held the woman whom he had left in incredible regard. He wished he could go back in time to change everything, but he knew he couldn't. He could change Yua's future, however, and he vowed to Yua that he would. "Yua, I know that what I did in the past can not be changed, and you might never forgive me for it. But I promise you this: You will never be alone again, and I will wipe oripathy from the face of Terra, even if it takes me my entire lifetime."

This put a smile on the face of the lung, Yua knew that he would carry out his promise. He always had done so in the future before he disappeared. "Thank you, father," Yua said on reflex. Her eyes widened when she realised what she said but just as Yua was about to apologise, the doctor held up his hand and spoke, "It's fine Yua, you don't have to apologise, I don't mind the fact that you call me father when it's just the two of us."

After all of this, the two eventually just started talking about various trivia and goings-on in Terra. They did this until it was quite late. Eventually, the doctor spoke. "Well, Yua, I have enjoyed our time together, but I must take my leave now. I look forward to spending more time with you." The doctor then left the room to head back to his own quarters. Once the doctor left, Yua felt sick to her stomach; she wanted so badly to tell her father the truth, but she didn't know the consequences if she did. Yua decided that one day, when the time was right, she would tell her father everything.

Walking back to his own room, the doctor had mixed feelings; on one hand, he was happy he got to know his daughter, but on the other, he was disgusted with his past self's actions. Knowing what he did only fueled his desire to cure oripathy even more; he had to do it for his daughter's future. As he approached his room, he noticed a figure standing outside. Upon getting closer, he realized it was Doctor Kal'tsit.

Seeing her colleague, Kal'tsit asked him, "How did things go with your daughter? What did she tell you?" The doctor responded, "She told me about her past, her mother dying of oripathy and a few other things." Kal'tsit thought, "So pretty much the same story she told me, Yua might not be lying about it, but still; something just still doesn't feel right, it's best to still have Red keep an eye on her, she is still hiding something." Deciding that she had gotten the information she wanted, Kal'tsit gave the doctor a good night and left to go back to her own room.

While walking back to her room, Kal'tsit was deep in thought. "I'm going to find out what Yua is hiding," she said to herself. "I have to get her trust; maybe I will talk with the doctor tomorrow about appointing an assistant. The man needs one with all the paperwork. It would give them a chance to bond and find out what I can without forcing it. She should let something slip sooner or later." Back at her room, Kal'tsit remembered one more thing. "I need to put another restraining order on Warfarin."
