The ocean stretched out ahead of them. Dark with the night sky, it seemed to go on forever. The scent of salt water permeated their noses.

Kit looked at her brother. "Well?"

He nodded and knelt by the two space boards. They'd decided it would be best to lock the boards together. Last thing they wanted was one of them pushing too far ahead or falling too far behind.

That was easy. A simple matter of bolts, really. And WilyKat had reattached their training bars. When Panthro had first presented the boards to them, they'd both had training bars—a stand to hold onto or they could sit and pull the bar over their laps to steer. Kit had used it for a few hours. Her brother two days.

But the latter was what Kat had rigged for them now. With the safeties removed, standing was too dangerous.

Kit checked their supplies. On the way back from Mumm-rana's, she'd stopped by Hook Mountain. Snowman had gifted her cloaks and blankets for traversing the mountains. She'd wrapped their other supplies in them and firmly attached them to her back. While the temptation to attach them to the boards was there, she didn't dare risk it.

"There." Her brother sat back. "All set."

She didn't miss the fear in his voice.

"Well," she said softly. "Like Panthro says…if we're going to do it…"

"Let's do it.." her brother finished.

But neither stepped forward. Instead, they clutched at the pendants around their necks, relishing when warm heat answered them.

WilyKat turned. "Lion-o, before we set off, we'd like to make a statement to you."

While he'd not discussed this with his sister, she followed along fairly quickly. She locked hands with her twin.

When they surmised they'd waited long enough, they stood as tall as they could, pushing up onto their tiptoes. WilyKat spoke first.

"I swear on my flesh that I will seek truth. That I will pursue honesty and right all days of my life."

WilyKit spoke. "I swear on my blood that I will fight for Justice. That I will guard against atrocities all the days of my life."

They joined hands. "We swear on our breath to uphold our honor. To maintain and build the Thundercat name all the days of our life."

A pause, more for reflection than anything.

"We swear on our souls to be loyal. To hold to our word and be faithful to our bonds. All the days of our lives."

Boeing their heads, they held their free hand horizontally against their chest. "To the Code of Thundera, we take our vow, to uphold honor, to speak truth, to pursue justice, and to live in loyalty until death take us."

They went silent, waited. There was little to it but the ruffle of the wind on their faces was far more deliberate than just the breeze. It was familiar, full of heart.

WilyKit made a note amid her supplies—both in the digit tablet they still carried and on paper of the date. A year. They had a year.

The weight of it felt suffocating. But with the warmth of the pendant about her neck and her brother's hand on her shoulder, she pushed through the fear.

The two Thundercats climbed aboard the space boards, pulled the steering bars right over their laps and with a jolt that left them winded, blew out across the ocean at a speed they never thought possible.

OOO

The Feliner was cramped with all the Thundercats aboard but after some adjustments, it was comfortable enough. Cheetara and Lynx-o took the back controls with Tygra and Panthro in that front. Bengali and Snarfer sat in the extra chairs and Pumyra, Snarf and Lion-o stood.

As they followed the twins' trail over the ocean, Snarfer asked. "Lion-o?"

He turned, "Yes, Snarfer?"

Stammering, the young snarf looked at his hands. "I…was just wondering…what did the Thunderkittens say to you down there? You looked all solemn."

"Not solemn," Snarf corrected. "Formal, serious."

Lion-o approached and sat on the ground next to the younger snarf. "He's right, Snarfer. I suppose I was a bit solemn too, worried. But the Thunderkittens were reciting their Thundercat Oath."

"The Thundercat Oath?"

Tygra spoke from the front. "When someone is born a Thundercat, they still must take the Oath to upload the Code of Thundera to be fully annointed, once they are old enough to understand. The twins originally took their Oath a year before the planet crumbled."

Lion-o nodded. "So, they were renewing their Oath, making the deepest promise they can."

The entire cockpit went quiet, the gravity of the twins' action felt by all.

"So…what can we do?" Snarfer finally asked. "How can we help?"

"However we can, Snarfer." Pumyra answered. "Even if all we do is follow them and stay close to their side."

Lion-o was reminded of the strength just knowing Jaga was there could bring. "And we'll fight as best we can to help them succeed."

The Feliner went quiet again with all eyes on the view screen as they followed the Thunderkittens over the ocean.

At one point, when the sky went dark, the twins brought their boards to a hover just long enough to lock WilyKit onto her board so she could try to get sleep. WilyKat took over for a few hours into the night before switching with his sister.

It wasn't a lot of sleep and it was hardly restful but it was better than nothing.

The days wore on like that.

"How long have we been flying, Panthro?" Cheetara inquired after at least three sunrises.

"Day four, as of right now." The panther replied. "Why?"

She shook her head. "I feel…something dark approaching or us approaching it."

In any other case, this would have been cause to fear, to consider alternative action. But in this case, it meant the twins were on the right track.

When the fourth day bled into the fifth and sixth and then seventh, the quiet of the Feliner was broken by two simultaneous sounds.

One was Snsrf, pointing and screeching, "Look! Look at the water!" And sure enough, the light blue green of the water had began to darken and the break of the water no longer foamed white but an ink blank shade.

In the distant horizon, the faint sketchy outline of…something emerged.

In the same instance, the Sword of Omens flared to life in warning, all but sending sparks out from its hilt and sending a light so blinding that everyone covered their eyes.

"I think we're in the right place."

The Sword of Omens growled.
