Finally, after a long line of duelists, I was aboard the boat, looking around for some food.
But there wasn't any.
There was no table with food, and there didn't seem to be a place to eat.
"No food? Heh, sounds like pegasus, trying to not put money in something he doesn't care" Reshef huffed in annoyance.
I couldn't help but laugh a little at the deity's commentary.
I watched my surroundings, looking at the kids exchange cards.
Then,I looked at my backpack, more specifically, the cards I have guarded for this moment.
"I should go to where yugi and jonouchi are" I muttered to myself, and determined, i started walking away.
Finally, we were just some meters away from the soon to be crime scene.
I waited for a few minutes, pretending I was looking at my deck.
I could heard yugi and jonouchi talking, and i just heard haga's voice.
Then, I took out and started filming with a video camera I bought earlier that day without anyone noticing, capturing everything, from the chat to haga throwing the Exodia cards.
"Bingo!" I muttered as I put the camera away.
And so, I stood up, following haga quietly.
Just as he was about to enter his room, I shouted "Insector haga, I know what you did!".
He turned around and feigned innocence "I'm sorry, you must have the wrong guy-"
At least until I opened my camera and showed the video.
Dropping the act, he tried to grab the camera, but with me towering over him, it wasn't possible.
"Unless you want me to show this to the guards, you better give me your room key!" I threatened.
"B-But i won't have a place to sleep!" he shouted.
"You think I care if an useless insect like you sleeps well?! One last time, the key, or your place at the tournament!" I ordered .
Growling, he said "Fine" as he took out his key and tossed it to the floor "But you just made yourself a big enemy-!"
"Dude, i don't give a fuck, get the hell out!" I snapped, grabbing the key quickly, not wanting to deal with him anymore.
Grunting, he walked away, not before giving me a dirty look.
Finally sighing, I opened the door of the room and began taking away his things.
"Remember me to never make you angry" Reshef suddenly gulped.
I just shrugged after i threw away the bug's things out of the room and putting my baggage "So long as you won't do bad things to innocent people we're good"
Then, i stepped out of the room, not before closing it with the key so i don't encounter an ugly surprise with glasses inside.
After some time, we finally made it to where I remembered that jonouchi,yugi, anzu and honda were, behind some crates, in silence.
I decided to intervene, and asked "Um, excuse me-?"
They all turned to me in shock.
"I'm sorry if I'm interrupting something, but are you four alright? I saw what happened earlier to your cards" I asked, referring the last part to yugi.
Yugi seemed shocked, but quickly nodded, and said "Yeah, we're alright-"
Just to sneeze, and looked embarrassed when he did so.
I looked at them better, and added "For the state of your clothes, I can deduce that you and your blond friend went to the water, am I wrong?".
Both of them nodded.
Sighing, I stood up, and said "Please follow me, I know where you four can heat up and rest".
"Wait a minute, how do we know you're not lying?" Jonouchi started, looking suspicious at me.
Without saying anything, I took out the key of haga's room and showed it to them.
"Isn't that one of the few rooms of the boat?! How did you get one of the keys?!" Yugi asked with surprise.
"I'll explain everything in a moment, we should get going, the sun Is rising and you need to rest" I declared, and started walking away.
Realizing they had to follow me, they did exactly that.
While we were walking to the room, Anzu asked "Uhm, i don't want to be rude, but what's your name? You never told us"
I stopped walking for a second, realizing she was right.
"Lily Smith, and you?" I asked, pretending I didn't know.
"Mazaki Anzu" the girl answered, and added while pointing at them "These are Mutou Yugi, Katsuya Jonouchi, and Hiroto Honda".
I nodded, and smiled "Nice to meet all of you".
And finally, we reached the door, and I noticed haga's things weren't where I left them.
I put the key in and we entered, the four teens fascinated with how big and extravagant it was.
"So, how did you get the room?" Yugi asked.
"Oh, I filmed the little shit who threw away your cards to the water and blackmailed him into giving me the room, I knew you needed it more after what he did" I explained.
The four looked shocked at how casually I said it.
"R-Really?! You did all that because he threw my cards in the water?!" Yugi asked incredulously.
"I heard your conversation, I knew they were exodia pieces, you know how much they value? Besides, even if they weren't, doing that to someone Is just a dick move" I shrugged it off.
"Then why didn't you show the video to the guards?" Anzu asked.
"I got the feeling that yugi would want to duel him first and teach him a lesson after what he did, like a duelist would" I lied, but luckily everyone believed me.
Then, I turned to both yugi and jonouchi, and asked "I revised and I know there's a shower, would you two like to take one? You know, so you don't get sick?".
They both nodded, and turning to each other, they said at the same time "You should go first-"
And so, they both began insisting that the other should take a shower first.
I just sighed into the couch and took out from my backpack two bags of chips and a copy of Jojo's bizarre adventure:Stardust crusaders,saying "If anyone wants to eat some chips go ahead" before reading quietly.
That made jonouchi stop talking, and said "Actually, yugi, i'm going to eat first".
That was my only warning before jonouchi and honda both grabbed a bag of chips each and started devouring it.
"Guys, don't be rude! lily-san said some chips, not all the bag!" Anzu scolded them.
"It's fine anzu, i packed too much food anyways, besides, they're teens, they need to eat" I said without looking up from my manga.
"You're the best lily-san!" Honda said with his mouth full.
And so, half an hour passed, both yugi and jonouchi showered, seemingly both relaxed.
"I'm so full" Jonouchi said with satisfaction.
"I hope you are, you ate a big bag of chips" Anzu said with a laugh.
Jonouchi suddenly turned to me, and asked "So, why are you in the tournament, lily-san?"
I looked up, and thought about it for a moment, before saying "I don't really care for the title of king of games, and while the money would be nice, Is not really my first goal".
They all looked up expectantly, and sighing, I gave a half-truth "I want a new experience, one where I can actually test my abilities at this game."
They didn't seem to expect that.
I continued "To be honest, the local tournament i went to wasn't a real challenge, so i want to test my deck in this tournament to see how i can upgrade it".
Then, I looked up to them, and asked "But enough of me, what about you two? Why are you here?".
They all tensed up at the question.
Pretending to be confused, I asked "Did I say something wrong?".
Honda gulped "Well, you see-"
"The thing is-" Jonouchi continued.
"Pegasus….well-" Anzu said.
"Pegasus stole my grandpa's soul" Yugi said without problems.
The other three teens fell off by the incredulity like anime characters(well, they are anime characters, but you know what i mean).
"I see" was all I answered.
This made anzu, honda and jonouchi stand up again.
"Wait, what?!" Honda asked in shock
"Y-you actually believed yugi?" Jonouchi asked incredulously.
I sighed, and decided to answer carefully "Believe it or not, there are rumours about pegasus using some sort of dark magic back in the united states, especially after a certain tournament that happened in New York, and besides, what would someone gain for such an unbelievable lie? And even if he did gain something, yugi could have chosen a more believable one".
Nobody said anything until honda replied "Wow, I was there and yet I had a hard time believing yugi!".
"Honda-kun!" Anzu scolded him.
I turned to Jonouchi, and asked "So, what about you? What do you want to accomplish here?".
He seemed shocked I asked, and looked to the ground "I need the money for the eye operation for my sister, shizuka, if I don't she'll become blind".
I didn't say anything for a few seconds, and then I answered "I see, so you're both in this tournament to help a beloved one".
They both nodded,so I stood up and went to grab something from my backpack, taking out my box with cards.
When I returned, I asked "Yugi-kun, how many cards did you lose to haga?"
"Well, jonouchi managed to get two of the five exodia pieces back" Yugi replied.
I put a hand on my chin, and then took out five cards from the box "Yugi, tell me if you have any of these cards in your deck".
He grabbed then, and readed "Witch of the black forest, Dream Clown, Heavy storm, Mystical space typhoon and Trap Hole"
After reading their effects he answered "No, I don't have any in my deck".
"Keep them then" I said.
That catched him off guard "B-but-".
"You lost five cards, and while they're no exodia, they'll at least help you in any duel you have" I smirked.
He stopped, and gave a small smile "Thanks, lily-san-".
"Just lily please, I'm not used to honorifics" I cut him off politely .
He nodded, and repeated "Thanks, lily".
Jonouchi gave me doggy eyes, and asked "I'm sure you have some good cards for me, lily?".
Me, yugi, anzu and honda couldn't help but laugh at what Jonouchi implied, making the blond teen shout "Oi! Is not funny!".
