"These chairs are quite uncomfortable... even with all the wool you've used." Rias observes as she sits across from me, arms folded in front of her and propping up her head.

"M-Mhm." I nod quietly.

"What's this world like?" The girl questions.

"Wizard guilds. Monsters. Magics. Gods." I list slowly.

"Devils?" She asks.

"Demons." I correct.

"And the difference... is?"

"Typically, inhuman features." I explain.

"Devils can have inhuman features." The girl points out. "I know of a devil who has an anglerfish for a head. He spoke like a pirate as well... with an accent 'like this' and casually replaced words with others like 'is' with 'be'. He constantly talked about plundering booty."

"Mhm?" I hum quietly.

"So... is there anything else?" The girl asks.

"In this world... there are two real types of demons... the first, I'm unsure of their origin. But the second? There's a species of book-bound demons created by an immortal wizard with the sole purpose of killing him."

"Immortal... wizard?"

"His name is Zeref. He tried to revive someone who died and as a result the god of life, death, and magic cursed him with the curse of contradiction. If he cares for life, he uncontrollably kills every living thing around him. Plants, animals, people. But if he feels nothing disgust and indifference, he is allowed full control"

"Wait... is... is he still out there?!"

"Along with the numerous books he created. One of the weaker ones being a flute that kills anyone who hears it played, lulling them into an eternal sleep... it can, of course, transform into a mountain sized tree demon who can cast death magic."

"Another demon is called Deliora, it's basically a kaiju... the last I heard of it it's currently tearing through town after town in another region of Ishgar, the continent we are currently on."

"What sort of magics are there?" The girl questions.

"Think of a random word... there's a magic for it." I state, voice sounding cold and distant.

"Cowboy?" Rias tries.

"There's numerous gun magics. I have rope magic." I reply, entering my 'disassociation' state

"Account?"

"There's a magic that's basically the internet called 'Archive Magic'." I continue, causing her eyes to light up. "But... I'd be scared if I were you... in this world, there is a thing called Slayer Magics... Dragon Slayer, God Slayer... Devil Slayer. Then you need to worry about Takeover magic... a type of magic that allows you to trap something in your body, forcibly subjugate their will, and assume their powers."

Rias blinks twice. "Huh... that is... mildly worrying."

Mildly worrying she says.

I'd be a little more than mildly worried if I had heard that there was a type of magic that basically enslaves and traps you. Or just one that kills you far easier. But whatever. It's her life, not mine.

"But I'm more interested in thepotential." The girl grins.

"Potential." I deadpan.

"Yeah! Can you imagine?! If that exists, what ELSE is out there?!"

I rub my face through my little Snuggie.

A small smile appears on her face. "I'm glad that you seem to be interacting better than before."

"I'm disassociating. I put a mental wall between us."

"You're even worse than Valerie... she just doesn't like to go outside..." The girl sighs, seeming exasperated. "Don't worry, Andrew. I'll fix you if it's the last thing I do."

"I'm fine." I reiterate.

"You've eaten nothing but children's snack meals for the past six months. The fact you are still alive is astounding." The girl continues.

I glance to the side, not responding to that.

"I mean, really. You said you can get fast food whenever you want, right? You just need money. Well, you have a wizard guild outside that you can join whenever you want, that's free money. You don't have to suffer like this!"

I cringe inwardly.

"Don't you miss something that isn't picked out of a very small portion of the freezer section in an American supermarket?!"

Thought occurs...

Wasn't there that really good burger from Sonic that was a limited time offer?

What was it called? The chophouse cheeseburger or something?

Could I possibly get that whenever I want now?

She lets out a long sigh. "What am I going to do with you."

She points at me. "Listen up. After I leave. You are going to get your shit together and join that guild."

"I know we haven't known each other than long... but in these short months, I have grown to see you as one of my very few friends... in addition you are my escape strategy! I want you healthy, damn it!" The girl rants. "So. When I'm back home. Get off your antisocial ass, walk down there, and ask to join. Then do jobs and eat some REAL food. Hell, I'll even take fast food at this point. Just ANYTHING other than what you have been. You're going to be malnourished and unhealthy!"

"Okay..." I whisper.

She crosses her arms, letting out a low 'hmph'.

We sit there for a brief moment, I can feel her gaze flicking over me.

"So... what's your favorite magic, Andrew." The girl questions.

I ponder for a moment. "I haven't really thought about it... but... probably maker magic. It's just sooo versatile! Soon I'm going to learn metal make! Then eventually I'll figure out how to use Maker Magic with MAGICAL metals! Oh that'd be so cool! Can you imagine a dragon made of solid iron?!"

I flinch suddenly, my enthusiasm dying out. "Well... uh... that's probably my favorite... yeah..."

There's a smile on the girl's face, propping her head up. "Why don't you tell me about it? Magic. How is it used? Where does it come from?"

"Well... I take it you have noticed how Magic fills the air around us?" I ask slowly.

"Mhm." The girl nods. "Your world is far more magical and pure than our own. I just assumed it was the lack of pollution."

"It could be." I nod slowly. "But the key factor is that here... the land, the trees, the water, everything produces a little magical particulate called Ethernano... ten percent of the population are able to manipulate this magical energy and store it inside themselves in a place called their first origin. Their magical container."

"First origin?" The girl asks.

"There exists a Second Origin as well, think of it like..."

I tap my chin.

"Well, I can't really think of a good word for it. But basically every mage has a first origin. Some are larger than others. The overall size of your magical container grows as you age and practice. Mine has nearly tripled since I got here. As for the second origin? From what I can understand, it is just an expanded magical container... like... expanded a lot. I think it was around ten times?"

"TEN TIMES?!" The girl questions, eyes growing wide.

I nod slowly. "I myself don't have it, nor do I have any real idea how to unlock it. Regardless, we use our magical containers to guide magical energy throughout our bodies. Making us stronger, faster, and more durable than normal people. In addition, emotions seem to make our magic stronger, and from what I have researched so far, calling out your attack names does actually seem to make a difference, as does adding motion to your spells. Things I like to call 'Vocal' and 'Somatic' components."

"Wait- wait wait. Spells are stronger if you call out the attack name?!" The girl smiles brightly. "THAT'S AWESOME!"

"Spells also seem to have a synergy with certain words and names as well. Watch. I'm going to gather some ethernano in the air and crush it."

I gesture to the side. Magical particles slowly condensing into a sphere.

Rias seems to zero in on the exact location this is happening, looking at it with intrigue.

It crushes down in an instant.

*Pop*

A weak snap echoes out, like someone had thrown one of those paper firework things at the floor.

"Now... if I were to use Vocal and Somatic components..." I gather the same ammount of energy.

"Snap." I call out as I snap my fingers.

*BANG*

"As you can see... more violent." I nod once.

"You... truly love magic, don't you." Rias smiles.

"It's... one of my favorite things to research honestly." I nod slowly.

"Would you want me to bring you some books on magic?" The girl asks slowly. "Human magic back home is... well... interesting."

"How so?" I ask.

"There's really only one kind... and it's based on math."

"oh..." I weakly mutter. "I'm not very good at math."

"But doesn't it vaguely interest you? I mean... one magic system. But it allows you to create barriers, teleport, Illusions, Hypnosis, enhancement, and, well, you certainly won't get it to an impressive level, but you can even- technically- heal with it... but more stamina... maybe scrapes and bruises at most."

"I'll admit... vaguely interesting." I sigh. "And when I got put here, with a multidimensional little desktop, I sort of thought I'd try and figure out all of the magic that I could."

"So you want some books?" The girl asks. "I could definitely get you some!"

"Provided you can... make it worth my while." She hums.

"I'm fairly certain there's a thing here called gale-force reading glasses." I admit with a small shrug. "Lets you read books faster depending on what kind you grab. Two. Four. Eight. Sixteen. Etcetera."

Her eyes widen greatly. "Seriously?! You can speed up reading by sixteen times?!"

"I think the largest amount was sixty four, I might have heard that in one of the two times I went into Magnolia."

"SIXTY FOUR?!" She screams.

A grin appears on her face. "heh... heheheheh."

"Tell you what. Get me a pair of those and I'll get you books on human magic." She declares.

"No deal." I reply instantly.

"Wh- Huh?!" The girl blinks. "Why?!"

"Because I have literally zero idea how much those cost." I deadpan. "Could be five million Jewel, could be five hundred million."

"And that... is..."

"Think roughly yen rates... or like, five million dollars."

"..."

"Let me guess, that much is nothing to you." I deadpan.

"Not really." She shrugs. "I'm rich."

"Well, I'm not." I state with a half-lidded stare. "Most S-Class jobs that have you fight god knows what only pays like ten million jewel at most."

"...'

"Also, if I do buy a pair that good, I'm keeping them for myself." I decide.

"But- But- So much free reading time!"

"Why don't I give you a times two pair, you read up on enchanting, act like you discovered how they work and how to make them, then offer to sell them to some big important person if they give you stuff? I mean, if your universe doesn't have it, can you imagine what most people who do paperwork would pay for them?"

She blinks twice, a grin appearing on her lips.

"Alriiiiiight." The girl smirks. "Sounds good to me! I'll get you that book on steel then see about reading up on a bit of enchantment magic, then see if I can duplicate the spell for those glasses. I'll trade magical books for them."

"That sounds fair to me." I shrug.

"We have a deal!" The girl smiles brightly as she stands up only to pause.

"Oh... it appears that my time here is up. Valerie is calling me. Bye Andrew!"

"Goodbye Rias." I reply as she begins to glow.

"You'd better go out and earn some money and live better or I swear the next time I'm here I'm going to drag you out and use my powers of extrovertedness to embarrass the hell out of you!"

*FLASH*

And with that... she's gone.

A long breath leaves my lips.

I toss aside the blanket I was hiding under

It was starting to get sort of sweltering.

It disappears into motes of light as I stand up, briefly pacing back and forth.

"Alright. Now that the stressful part of my day is done."

Now...

I must ponder the orbs.

What 'Singular' book on any non-lost magic would be good?

*Ping*

I blink twice and go over to the computer.

Ah, did Rias decide to follow up on something-

Oh.

That's not Rias.

The rarer and more powerful the magic, the less knowledge you are given. Some magics might require books of theory to learn. You'd just be getting one of those. But for a common or weaker magic, such as... Nab Lasaro 'Animal Possession' magic... not to be confused with Animal Takeover magic, you will be given much more to work with. for example. Giga doom magic, 24 page booklet, snooze magic 804 page tome you could knock someone unconscious with.

"Ah. Shit."

There goes my plans for Command-T.

Shit.

I really wanted to shrink down that pipe organ.

I go back to pacing.

"What magics have been seen before?" I question under my breath. "Amaterasu seems pretty powerful, and might be versatile. It really depends on if there's a spell from 'Formula one' to 'Formula one hundred' and beyond. But it seems quite rare."

Plus it knocked Makarov flat in one hit.

Archive would be fun.

*Ping*

Archive would instantly combine with this system here as you learn it as well.

Yes. But... I could just go to blue pegasus probably for that.

*Ping*
If you get over your crippling fear of social interaction, that is.

It seems like a relatively common magic type.

"That one dark skinned woman uses clone magic... I could go full-on shadow clone in this bitch." I note quietly.

*Ping*
It's a black magic, and those typically have consequences, but sure!

"Alright. I'm going to stop you right there, first off, is this your new thing now? I mean... I'm not complaining, that some useful information... second thing... WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN IT'S BLACK MAGIC?! How?! Why?!"

"..."

"..."

No reply.

Damn it.

WAIT!

"Dragon Supremacy magic! AHAHAH!" I giggle to myself.

*Ping*
No. That's lost magic.

"No it isn't! I remember on the wiki! The only lost magics are the 'Arcs' and slayer magics!"

"..."

*Ping*
No. Fuck you. It's lost. Did you seriously expect a magic FAR BETTER at dealing with dragons than slayer magic WOULDN'T be lost?! Who cares if the series didn't specify and the wiki didn't add it. That's lost magic.

"What even IS lost magic? Like... what makes it lost? People forgetting about it?"

*Ping*
Side effects mostly. Lost magics are lost for a reason erased from history. Big power. Big consequences... Except Maguilty sense. But you could argue that one's consequences come from the fact that its main power links you and an enemy. Any pain they feel, you also feel.

I let out a long sigh. "Damn... there goes my fuckin plan."

"Wait... Wait wait wait." I whisper suddenly. "Why the hell am I thinking of magics ONLY shown in fairy tail? YOU JUST GAVE ME A BLANK CHECK BABY AHAHAHAH!"

This lets me pull out my world building DND goggles!

"Takeover. Dragon Soul. Purely theoretical as there's no way for a normal human mind to subdue a dragon's. Proven only effective on Wyverns and other draconic creatures. But no matter how much you practiced with it on those creatures, there's really nothing that could help you 'build up' the mental fortitude for the jump between a Wyvern and a Dragon."

*Ping*
Color me intrigued but cautious... why...

"I was going to grab one of those 'free connection' things and make a connection to a How to Train Your Dragon villain... Grimmel I think his name was? The main idea was to get to him before he genocides all the Nightfuries cause I want one and I don't really feel like stealing toothless."

So... you would trade the villain... making him stronger... because that will let... Hiccup survive?

"I mean... it sucks, but... there's infinite universes... I NEED dragons. Something that Hiccup wouldn't be all too keen on giving me. Working with a villain like Grimmel I'd gain access to all the cool beasties of my dreams! Skrill, Nightfury, Screaming Death, the myriad of other 'deaths'.

*Ping*
Huh. Interesting. Alright. Let's see how this goes. Wish granted. ETA 6 hours and 30 minutes.

"Ooooh I can't fucking wait." I grin. "Wait. Dragons in httyd regularly crossbreed, right? Like, I've seen the gronkle and a Monstrous Nightmare breed in Titan Uprising I think the mobile game was called? Could I figure out a way to 'fuse' my takeover forms? Could I figure out a way to assume two forms at once?!"

First... I should honestly try and figure out Silk Make before moving to an entirely new magic.

ACCURSED ADHD

Truly amongst my worst shackles.

Of course, the social interaction is a big one.

I also need to get an achievement so I can grab a 'choose who you want to speak to' charge... then figure out what Mr. Grimmel would want.

Dragon killing stuff, surely.

The issue is... I don't really have anything like that.

I couuuld give him one-time-use magic items in exchange.

I nod once.

"So the plan is wait for book, read through it, keep it in Requip, go to bed, take shower, then join the guild." I mutter under my breath.

I... guess it's finally time for me to get a job.

First real job ever and it's a 'You be a wizard' job... sort of cool, honestly.

"H-Hello." I greet the master of fairy tail as he sits on the countertop.

"Oh. Hello." He greets. "What can I do for you, lad?"

"I'm here to join the guild." I begin quietly.

"Can you use magic?"

"Mhm." I nod once as I requip one of my books, then send it away again.

"Alright! Let's get you a guild mark, then!"

I... am honestly disturbed by how easy this is.

I gaze around a magic shop, a frown on my lips.

None of these items are particularly... good... I'd honestly say.

There's a few weapons, sure... there's like... a Genie lap, but it spits out fire, rings that let you do basic elemental magics, a gun that looks like a sawed-off double barrel shotgun that seems to shoot drilling laser beams like they're Piccolo's special beam cannon.

There's a few flying brooms- dreadfully expensive, though judging by the price tag hanging around them- and a bunch of books. Some on basic elemental magic, others being literally gossip magazines.

The magazines are noticeably cheaper than the other books, though.

"Excuse me, do you have anything for Archive Magic?" I ask quietly.

"Archive magic? No, not at the moment." The man behind the counter shakes his head. "Can I get you anything else?"

"Do you have any of those reading glasses?"

"Ah! Gale Force Reading Glasses? We do! I just got a new shipment! What are you looking for? Two-times, four? Eight? Maybe a sixteen?"

"What's the price of highest powered ones you have out of curiosity? Then the lowest."

"I have a pair of times thirty two here, as for the price, they miiight be just a little outside your budget, little guy."

"I'd still like to know so I have a goal to set." I frown.

"Ah! A goal. I see. The times thirty two pair here is the newest on the market, they're worth twelve million jewel."

"Ah. Yeah... that is expensive." I sigh. "And the times two?"

"fifty thousand jewel."

That's... quite achievable. Even if my own mission today resulted in a meager profit of three thousand jewel- I house-watched, a perfect job for me. Sort of just sat around and read a book while waiting.

"I'll be back eventually the get a pair." I decide with a slow nod. "Thank you for your help."

"Take care of yourself, kid." The man waves.

For the first time in roughly half a year...

FOOD! ACTUAL FUCKING FOOD.

I grin down at the bag.

I went with something simple for my first ever true meal in this world.

Cheeseburger, fries, and nuggets.

NOT from mcdonalds.

They're complete ass.

Wendy's.

Better than Burger King, at the very least... about on par with Jacks for their bugers and stuff, but Jacks doesn't let you buy a bucket of fifty spicy chicken nuggets.

Jacks does have better fries on average, though... if they remember to actually salt them, that is. That orange powder salt is super good.

Anyways, I got a pretty good deal. Made use of that coupon system and stacked the hell out of them.

Because it's Wednesday, got a free six-piece with my order, then I got one-dollar loaded fries, a one dollar junior bacon cheese burger, a one dollar chicken sandwich, one dollar breakfast sandwich, and- AND because my purchase was over five dollars, I got myself a free drink and a free frosty!

Then of course, the thing I actually bought full price for this, a baconator.

All in all, that's only ten dollars for SEVERAL meals.

That's such a fucking steal! I love optimizing pointless stuff like that.

Will note, the shop doesn't have tax apparently. That's just another blessing, I guess.

There's a deep greedy goblin-like innate desire in my core to penny pinch and try and rip off whatever I can.

AND because of said goblin desire, I tallied up how much I saved!

Eighteen dollars.

Now, a majority of that came from the breakfast sandwich, sort of a mistake on their part to say you can get a six-dollar sandwich for only a dollar, but I must say... I'll be eating good for at least a day or two!

I sit a plastic container on my desk, my fries then one of my sandwiches.

I also place my little ice cream treat on the table.

The rest of this is going in the fridge for tomorrow morning and for lunch tomorrow.

Those coupons apparently take a long time to regenerate, but it's calculated per unique store, so it looks like i'll be forced to hit another restaurant for my next 'true' meal.

I'm thinking... probably dominos. Get me a pasta or one of their sandwiches... I prefer Pizza hut for the actual pizzas... mainly because of stuffed crust, honestly. As Goku once said, 'you can eat it in reverse'.

*Ping*

I walk back over to my computer and take a seat.

"Oh!" I beam.

"Got that book on steelmaking, you there?" - Rias Gremory

"Yo. I'm here." - Andrew Graves

"Here you go!" - Rias Gremory

She sends me a trade request which I accept.

I reach out, grabbing the book and pulling it out.

I flick through it briefly, sending my thanks to Rias idly.

It seems simple enough. Papi should be able to understand it even without technological knowhow.

"Did you look up 'How to make steel if you ever get sent back in time, the book' or something?" - Andrew Graves.

"Pretty much!" - Rias Gremory

"Still, thank you so much, I'll send it to Papi. Oh and before I forget. I checked out a nearby magic store recently" - Andrew Graves.

"You went outside?! I'm so proud! Did you join that mage's guild? Are you eating better?" - Rias Gremory

"Yes and Yes. Did my first job today and got a little pocket money. Not much, but enough to spoil myself with a little fast food." - Andrew Graves.

"Did you find a pair of Gale Force Reading Glasses?" - Rias Gremory

"I did, but they're out of my budget currently. My house sitting job only paid 3000 Jewel, 1000 of it I just spent on me for my meal tonight and most of tomorrow. The cheapest glasses, a x2 pair was worth 50k. Soooo I'll need to work quite hard for it. I saw a rat extermination job that paid 28k. I'll see if I can grab it. I should be able to deal with rats... maybe..." - Andrew Graves.

"Alright! I'm still reading up. I'm nowhere near close enough to begin trying to pass off such a thing as my own. I'll let you know when I am able to get effects to stick to other things. It doesn't need to be good, just unique and the basic principals. Then I can see if I can bribe my older brother with them. He's kind of cold, but he'd probably jump at the chance to not waste much of his time. It definitely won't be enough to get him to break off my engagement, but maybe he'll take it to his sciency friend and I can get myself a 'perfected' pair. I'll get you some books on human magic soon enough. Any preference on what I should focus on?" - Rias Gremory

"Elemental is quite easy to come across here. So teleportation, barrier, sealing or physical enhancement would be useful." - Andrew Graves.

She sends me a thumbs up, causing me to nod once.

Now. To eat before my food gets cold.

WELL WELL Getting a job, are we? How very un-shut-in-like! You're telling me you're becoming a valued member of society!? Nonsense!
