I needed to thaw the ice at a cellular level while simultaneously raising the heart's temperature to restore Leo's body to normal. Leo had gone to the guest room to sleep off the alcohol while I worked on Jason in the bathroom.
After a short while, Jason returned to normal, and I utilized his body's bioelectricity to stimulate his nervous system and restart his heart. After a few attempts, his heart finally started beating again, but he remained unconscious.
I carried him to my bedroom and placed him on my bed, confident that he would regain consciousness soon. I had Gwen check his vitals to ensure stability and instructed her to inform me the moment he woke up. I proceeded to my fridge to grab a drink, taking no chances, as I was aware of how cunning Boy Wonder could be.
Casually settling onto my sofa, I poured myself a beverage and enjoyed some late-night television. The show was engaging, but as the night progressed, drowsiness set in. Luckily, my sofa was convertible into a bed, so I decided it was time to call it a night. I could only wonder what awaited me in the morning, as this was my first experience hosting a sleepover with such contrasting individuals.
…
[The next morning]
I luxuriated on my sofa, embracing the cozy embrace of the early morning. The tranquil aura was shattered by the incessant chirping of those accursed birds outside my window. Who needs a chorus of avian musicians practicing their obnoxious melodies right at my doorstep?
I groaned in my sleep, lazily waving my hand to conjure a gust of wind that sent the bothersome birds fluttering away. Ah, finally, the sweet serenity of morning solitude. Leo had a lot to drink last night; there was no chance of him waking up any time soon, except with an atrocious hangover. As for Jason, he'd probably be attempting to maintain a facade of calmness while secretly plotting his escape, eager to evade our clutches without causing a ruckus.
"Hey!!! Is anyone here?" The first words that jolted me from the edge of slumber, yanked me back to reality. "Let me out, you coward, or at least have the guts to show your face!"
"Fuck, there goes my peace." I muttered. "Sir, Jason has regained consciousness." Gwen said to me. "A little bit too late, Gwen. I really wish I had a set of earplugs right about now." I groaned, exasperated.
Then, it struck me that I had one of the coolest powers in this world. I immediately nullified every sound from getting to me the moment they hit the field around me. Every noise bounced off, never reaching my ears. Blissful silence prevailed.
...
"Shut up, kid, or I'll gladly put you back on ice. I already have a serious case of hangover, I don't need your shouting too." Leo's voice seethed with a tinge of menace. Jason had been struggling futilely to escape his restraints.
"What the hell am I doing here? Uncuff me this instant!" Jason's voice echoed with frustration as he writhed on the bed.
"Well, well, we've got quite the sharp tongue, don't we?" Leo retorted, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "But don't worry, I know just the thing to silence you without ending your life." Leo strolled toward the room's exit, his hand gripping the doorknob, leaving Jason to writhe helplessly on the bed.
"Get me out of here, you psychopath!" Jason's pleas intensified as he watched Leo step out of the room. "Tom!!!" he called out, dreading the potential atrocities that awaited him at the hands of Leo and Tom. As a sidekick, Jason had helped incarcerate many of Captain Cold's allies, making him the perfect target for their vengeance.
"I've experienced death once before, and it wasn't a pleasant affair. I have no desire to suffer that fate a second time," Jason muttered to himself, determinedly pulling at the cuffs with all his might. He didn't care if he injured his wrists or dislocated his thumb; all that mattered was escaping this dire predicament.
Leo returned to the room, a sly grin playing on his lips as he brandished a roll of duct tape. "As much as I'd love to sit back and watch you torment yourself, only to realize escape is futile, Tom wouldn't appreciate the mess you'd make of his bed. So, stop hurting yourself," Leo declared, closing in on Jason, who continued to resist despite his best efforts.
"Shut up, you prick, and uncuff me!" Jason spat out, his voice muffled by the duct tape that Leo expertly applied to silence him. "We really need to fix that insolent tongue of yours. Fortunately, I've got just the solution," Leo quipped, capturing Jason's enraged gaze. "Maybe I'll even pluck one of those adorable blue eyes out as a memento," he taunted, relishing his cruel jest before exiting the room, headed for the living room.
As Leo entered the living room, he found Tom peacefully slumbering, utterly unperturbed by the commotion Jason had caused earlier. "Damn, Tom, I can't believe you slept through all that," he remarked, marveling at his ability to rest so soundly, unfettered by any worries.
"Hey, Tom, it's time to rise and shine. Wake up so we can discuss what to do with the brat locked up in your bedroom," Leo called out, receiving no response from the sleeping crime boss. "Sometimes I forget he's a criminal mastermind. It's astonishing how he can slumber so soundly, free from any concerns," he mused aloud.
"Master Tom is currently unable to hear you. Every sound around him has been nullified completely. Even if a nuke were to detonate nearby, he would only feel the vibrations from the shockwave, but the deafening bang would elude him," Gwen's voice reverberated throughout the room. As Leo glanced around the room in uncertainty, unsure of where to direct his gaze while conversing with Tom's AI.
"That's a cool one." He remarked. "Maybe I'll ask him to grant me the same boon when the next the brat decides to unleash his incessant chatter," he mused, contemplating the idea with a chuckle before retreating to my room, leaving Tom to awaken in his own time.
…
[Lex Luthor's POV]
Lex Luthor sat in his lavish office at the towering LexCorp headquarters, surrounded by the opulence that defined his empire. The room exuded an aura of power, with sleek marble floors and walls adorned with prestigious awards and portraits of the wealthy and influential. The scent of money and success hung in the air, mingling with the faint hint of intrigue that always seemed to follow Lex like a shadow.
As Lex reviewed the various projects in progress, Mercy Graves, his trusted and capable personal assistant, entered the room. Her steps were as calculated as her words, radiating efficiency and loyalty. With a quick knock on the door, she approached Lex's imposing desk, where he commanded the attention of those who dared to enter his domain.
"Mr. Luthor," Mercy began, her voice laced with deference. "The head scientist has just informed me that the devices we've been developing have reached completion. We've finally discovered a sustainable power source, and now all that remains is to test it with Gorilla Grodd's psychic abilities."
A mischievous grin crept across Lex's face, mirroring the dark twinkle in his eyes. The prospect of harnessing such power was an exhilarating one for him. "Ah, excellent news indeed," he responded, his voice dripping with satisfaction. "But before we proceed, contact Mirror Master immediately. I have a special assignment for him."
Lex's command was authoritative, leaving no room for doubt or delay. Mercy nodded in understanding, her loyalty to Lex evident in her unwavering gaze. She swiftly turned on her heel, her movements both graceful and purposeful, as she made her way to the door.
The office buzzed with activity, a symphony of productivity and ambition. Lex reclined in his luxurious leather chair, fingers steepled beneath his chin, as he contemplated the grand design taking shape before him. With each passing moment, his excitement grew, fueled by the prospect of expanding his influence and solidifying his dominance over the world he called his own.
The walls seemed to close in, enveloping Lex in an atmosphere that thrived on secrecy and calculated risk. His mind churned with possibilities, each thought woven intricately into his grand tapestry of power. He relished the delicate dance he was about orchestrating, manipulating both heroes and villains like pawns on a chessboard.
As Lex's dark chuckle filled the room, its reverberation seemed to echo the very essence of his existence. He was a mastermind, a force to be reckoned with, and his plans were unfurling with precision. The air crackled with anticipation, as if the very walls were privy to the secrets that Lex Luthor held close to his chest.
With an audible yawn, I slowly opened my eyes, stretching my body as I sat up on my collapsible, pushing the covers to the side. Reminiscing about the happenings of the previous night, remembering I had technically kidnapped Red Hood.
I put down the sound nullifying field around me and noticed how quiet the house actually was, which was surprising at the moment. Upon opening the door to my room, I could not help but burst into a mocking series of laughter the moment I saw the look on his face and with his mouth covered with duct tape. He must have been too loud for Leo who hated unnecessary inconvenience, considering how Jason was, it must have been the only way to shut him up without having to kill him or knock him out.
"Good you are up." I walked closer to the bed and looked at the watch on my left wrist as I continued. "I guess it's about time to harvest your organs." I said with a mischievous smile as I watched his face slowly turn pale. "The organs of Boy Wonder would fetch good cash from the black market." I continued with a subtle lick of my lips, his eyes widened and he suddenly started struggling to free himself. 'This kid must really see me as a monster if he believed that crap.' I thought to myself before letting out a short but loud laughter.
"You should see your face right now, I didn't know you would be scared to die the second time. As someone who has also been there before, I know it isn't a fun trip." I said with a low tone as I aggressively ripped off the duct tape on his mouth. "Ouch, that hurts you bastard." He remarked as he made motions with his mouth to ease the pain since his hands were restricted.
"Back then when I was Robin, I always knew something was off about you. Now I know you are just one sick bastard with a few screws loose."
"Awwn, don't say that." I teased the brat some more. "It wasn't a compliment you psycho. Now let me out of here."
Walking towards the side of the bed. "I guess it's only logical to speak over breakfast. After all, a hungry man is an angry man they say." I said as I uncuffed him.
"Finally, I am out of here." Jason said out loud before getting up and threw a flip to get off the bed. He suddenly hung midair like he was stuck, like a very skilled mime being held in the air by unnoticeable wires.
"Not so fast, Jase. You can't get out until I say u can, got that?" Jason turned his head over to me and saw my hand already stretched out, I had used telekinesis on him.
"You and your annoying powers." He scuffed. "Alright, alright, I got it. Now let go of me already ." He replied. "Well, if you say so." I remarked as I abruptly dropped him on the floor.
"I won't leave now anyway, not until I get some answers at least." He gave me the stink eye, then headed out of the room. "Hey Snart, guess who's no longer cuffed to the bed. Why don't you get out here already, I've been itching to kick your ass since you shot me with your cold gun and still went ahead to duct tape me." Jason yelled out, walking through the house in search of Leo's room.
Leo stepped out of the guest room with a book in hand and his cold gun in the other. "Hey kid, try to keep it down. I'm trying to read over here." Jason turned to look at him. "There you are." He said as he dashed towards him. I stood behind, watching as they were about clashing with one another.
Leo aimed his gun at Jason who suddenly took a dive into a roll as he dodged the frost ray from Leo's gun. The blast hit a wall as the frost stretched out across it, and it made me realize that they wouldn't stop until one person was down and as a result would trash the entire place.
Jason was right in front of Leo with his fist already clutched, while Leo had his finger on the trigger of his gun. I immediately dashed towards them, amplifying the force beneath my feet as I accelerated between both of them. Instantly I grabbed both by the neck and slammed them against the wall behind.
"If you want to kill yourselves, fine. But not in my house." My pupil emitted a deep red glow as I spoke, at the same time I lifted them off the floor, gliding them against the wall as I slowly flew and my feet left the ground while I took intensed glances at both.
Their eyes widened at the sudden occurrence, I had struck fear into their hearts. Turning to Jason I said. "Let's talk over breakfast,I would answer some of the questions I know you are dying to ask me. Then you would be offered a preposition, after that you can leave if you want to, I don't give a fuck either way."
Then I turned to Leo. "Keep your cool bro, I know he ticks you the wrong way but he'll eventually grow on you. So till then, just chill. Got that?" I directed that question to both of them but the response I got wasn't what I had expected.
"You're choking us." They both struggled to say as their faces were slowly turning pale. "Oh, my bad." I said before dropping them on their feet, they leaned to their knees and tried to catch their breaths.
"Okay fine, now can you get started on breakfast already?" Leo remarked as he picked up his book and left for the living room.
"Jason?" I asked, looking at the hot headed teenager. "Yeah I got it, you didn't have to go all beast mode on us." He said as he massaged his neck. "What's for breakfast anyway?" Jason asked.
"I'm too lazy to make anything, so we'll just have cereal. They are over at the top shelves." Reaching for my phone, I walked past him and screwed down to Rae's line. Oh, that's just how I abbreviated Rachel's name. Rachel, Raven, Rae, they all have the exact same prefixes.
Staying home with Leo and Jason would be a major pain in the ass, I think I would just leave them be so they find their own way to bond instead of me getting between their fights.
That was something I didn't want to have to deal with today. [Hey Rae, let's go see a movie later this evening. If you aren't occupied with whatever you heroes do, tonight would be perfect for a movie date. What do you say?] I texted her, hoping she didn't have any major things to do today. If she did, I would just fly off to some vacation villa to spend my day. Then come back home in hopes of my place still being in one piece as they adjust to each other. Or Jason would just go back to his place for peace to reign.
"Master Tom, your presence is needed." Gwen's voice reached out to me, I instantly knew what she meant. Ghost must have received an email or maybe a request from the Architect of which needed my actual attention.
Upon entering my room, I locked the door and logged in to my private computer which only I could unlock. I made a program which required me just placing my hand on the computer, closing my eyes and connecting to it for a few seconds as I bypassed my security and entered through a back door only I could locate.
One fact about my powers that I kept shrugging off, was that the advanced brain I had attained made me more like a supercomputer but I tend to avoid that aspect as it might make life dull in some sense. I was kind of like Cyborg but smarter and without the robotic parts, if I had relied on it and not appreciated the little mundane things humans enjoy, maybe I would have become more like that guy known as Brainiac or Ultron from Marvel.
As I scrolled through the notifications, I came across an assassination request from a mob boss which was one of my underlyings. The Gilzean crime family had stolen something from him but he didn't want it back, he wanted all of them dead.
It was no biggie, I'll have DeathShot on it.
Beep*
The screen of my phone lit up, I reached for it and it was a reply from Rae. [A movie date sounds great to me but there's one problem. Can I bring a friend along? I initially had plans with her tonight in Gotham, it would be a great opportunity to drag her ass out of the house and so she could do better at enjoying the social life of a normal teenager. Rather than chasing criminals all the time. If it's okay with you, then I am game for tonight.] The text ended.
A friend? Tonight was supposed to be just me and her, why the third wheel? And from the text, I could easily tell her friend is another hero. Well, so long as she doesn't interfere with my date I am fine with it.
[I wanted it to be just the both of us. But it's okay, let's meet over there by 7pm]
With that, I resumed my previous task and came across a few requests through the Architect. They seemed like they were requests sent in by heroes because it was to save lives in a dangerous scenario. "I guess not only villains nor normies, but even the heroes want a taste of me."
