Chapter Six: Fighting All Who Rob Or Plunder
"Bats, attack!" A voice commanded as a small army of vampire bats appeared and swarmed in at Underdog, who was in the middle of a late-night battle with them all.
Underdog quite easily dispatched of the bats with several hard punches and kicks, also using very tricky evasive techniques to fight them off. Underdog then set his sights on the creature that was the mastermind of them all. The creature looked every bit like a normal vampire. Well, at least normal by a vampire's standards. But he was able to be out in full daylight and could also see his reflection in the mirror, unlike a typical vampire. The creature was also the mastermind of one of the biggest robberies the world had ever seen. He was simply known as Batty Man.
Underdog and Batty Man circled around a tall, round midair platform, staring at each other as well as briefly looking at a tall grandfather clock off to the side of them.
"Underdog, you may have been able to get past my bats, but I assure you that you won't kick my ass and stop my plans tonight!" Batty Man declared.
"No matter how hard you fucking try, you shan't succeed till the day I die." Underdog retorted.
"Oh, that shit can be arranged right now, Underdog." Batty Man said as the vampire went on the attack.
While Underdog was very easily able to fight him off, Batty Man ensured that it wasn't going to be a one-sided affair. For every few hits that Underdog was able to land, Batty Man fought back and landed a few hits of his own. Underdog had the upper hand in the fight for the most part, but Batty Man held his own and scratched and clawed his way in the battle, even frustrating Underdog at points and throwing him off of his game. The bats that Batty Man sent after Underdog before eventually recovered to help out their master, which slowed Underdog down a bit but didn't quite stop him.
"I'm handing you your ass, Batty Man. So go ahead and cease your shitty plan." Underdog commanded.
"Go fuck yourself, Underdog." Batty Man defiantly replied. "This fight isn't…."
The tall grandfather clock that Underdog and Batty Man were both fighting for sounded off, interrupting Batty Man with both him and Underdog looking up towards the top of it. Perched on the top was a small Rubik's Cube-like box that, at the right time, can alter day and night all around the world like no other. One could set it one way for perpetual daylight, though the light would be so bright it'd be blinding and would require the use of eclipse glasses for all of the world's inhabitants daily. One could set it another way for perpetual darkness, but it would be pitch black and any and all sources of light would be gone all around the world, including those that are battery powered. And finally, one could set it a final way for things to remain normal. In all three cases, the cube would fizzle away and never exist again.
Both Underdog and Batty Man knew the combinations to reach their desired results, Underdog wanting it to remain normal while Batty Man wanted complete and total darkness. But they both had an extremely limited time to get to the cube and convert it, or it would lock itself back up for 24 more hours.
"When that bell tolls, I am not slow. It's hip hip hip and away I go!" Underdog said just before he made a beeline towards the top of the grandfather clock.
"After him, bats!" Batty Man commanded as the bats flew right after Underdog with Batty Man himself trailing right behind.
Underdog raced to the top very fast, though the bats did catch up to him and slow him down long enough for Batty Man to catch up. Batty Man delivered a blow to Underdog to knock him right back down to the round platform and made a beeline to the top. Underdog used a power of his to stop Batty Man in his tracks, a power he called the Magnetizer. He concentrated his eyes on his hands long enough to create a magnet-like force on them before using them to stop Batty Man in mid-flight, pulling the vampire and his bats back towards him. Underdog delivered a few blows to Batty Man to subdue him, fending off the bats as well.
Underdog got to the top of the grandfather clock unimpeded and grabbed the cube, going straight to work on his desired combination. But Batty Man was not going down without a fight. As Underdog was nearing the completed combination, Batty Man delivered Underdog a swift blow out of nowhere, sending Underdog hurtling back down to the round platform. Batty Man undid of all of Underdog's progress and went to work on his desired combination, but Underdog quickly recovered and hit Batty Man with a swift blow of his own, sending him down to the round platform as well.
The bell sounded off again, alerting both Underdog and Batty Man that time was running out.
"Shit, one minute! Hurry, bats!" Batty Man commanded while Underdog quickly worked the cube to his desired combination.
Underdog knew that the bats were going to catch up to him before he finished, so he simply fought them off using his ice breath power, freezing them in their tracks. The grandfather clock sounded off once more, alerting Underdog and Batty Man that time was getting short.
Batty Man knew that he wasn't going to get to the cube in time to convert it to his desired combination, so he made a last ditch attempt to stop Underdog from reaching his desired combination. He threw a harpoon-like projectile towards Underdog, which Underdog had to dodge before he got the cube to the combination of normalcy. The cube floated in his hands a few times before it sent a ray of energy skywards, Underdog looking up triumphantly while Batty Man held his head down in defeat. The ray disappeared after a few seconds with the cube dissipating shortly thereafter.
Underdog looked down towards Batty Man, having won a hard-fought battle.
"For as long as I'm around, evildoers will go down." Underdog said. "So remember it well, Batty Man. You'll never kick my ass, understand?"
"Fuck you, Underdog!" Batty Man said angrily in defeat. "You have won. For now. But we WILL meet again, and I'll make sure you perish! Retreat, bats!"
Batty Man and his bats all flew back to his castle in defeat, Underdog flying back to Capitol City to get some well-deserved rest after a long, late-night battle.
Several days later, Underdog himself was seen flying around Capitol City just searching and looking around. There had been a recent outbreak of highly illegal drugs circulating around the otherwise very clean city. The Capitol City Police Department, the Capitol City Narcotics Unit, and Underdog himself caught up with droves of men and women either high on drugs, simply possessing drugs, or having the intent to sell drugs. Many of the drug addicts were seen shooting themselves up with heroin, inhaling crack cocaine, or cooking methamphetamine inside of their homes, out on the streets, or in their cars. Much of Capitol City's predominantly middle-aged and drug-free population took exception to all of it and either had already left the city or preparing to leave.
Polly Purebred herself was seen at the news station ready to do a report on the massive drug outbreak.
"This is Capitol City News, your leader in all things Capitol City. This is Polly Purebred reporting." Polly said, using her usual opening spiel. "We begin today with some breaking news. Reality TV star and newly minted Capitol City resident Tracey De Santa was arrested this morning after authorities raided her home and found approximately 69 pounds of methamphetamine in her basement. The Los Santos superstar moved to Capitol City only two short weeks ago in what her mother, Amanda De Santa, simply described as just her "starting a new life." We have exclusive footage of Tracey De Santa in handcuffs being led to an awaiting patrol car." Polly got out as the footage she just described was being shown on the screen.
Tracey looked every bit the same as she did back in her Los Santos days, minus the fact that she dyed her hair red. In the video, she was tearfully screaming obscenities, which the video bleeped out for censorship reasons.
"You fucking old hags don't fucking understand, I was coerced into this!" Tracey shouted out in tears, the swear words being bleeped out as she was being put into the police car. "I'm fucking innocent and I'll give you the real drug dealers' names, just please let me go!"
"This is part of a recent string of arrests that involves an alarming amount of illegal drugs somehow circulating around the city. Underdog himself as well as the Capitol City Police Department and the Capitol City Narcotics Unit are on the hunt for the source of these drugs in the city." Polly got out, clearing her throat before continuing.
"And just on a personal note, Underdog, if you can hear me, I hope you find those fu…." Polly got out, catching herself in the nick of time using a swear word on national TV in the heat of the moment, taking another deep breath. "….fiends and put them out of their misery."
As Polly continued that story in addition to other unrelated stories, Underdog's search continued until he spotted something of note. He saw what looked to be two ordinary crooks, which he could very easily dispatch of, getting into a large Sprinter van. The crooks very cautiously and carefully surveyed the area before driving off. Because Underdog was so high in the sky, the crooks couldn't really see him even if they had binoculars. That gave Underdog the ability to avoid detection so that he could secretly follow them.
"That van is looking very suspicious. It is up to something malicious." Underdog said to himself just as the van began to move. "I'll have to secretly follow it and put an end to all of their shit."
The van went through a very deserted, nearly abandoned part of Capitol City. The roads there were no longer maintained as there were potholes and overgrown weeds all over the place. And right at the center of it all was what was a hub for Capitol City's own subway system. Due to very low ridership and high maintenance costs, Capitol City shut down the subway system after only six months of operation.
The van that Underdog followed drove down a ramp that led into the subway. Because the van was now completely concealed by the surface, Underdog had to use his x-ray vision to see through it to continue following the van moving through the old subway's tunnels. The tracks that were once there had been taken out, and the lighting that had been removed was put back in place. Even Underdog himself seemed to be impressed at how those criminals used the old subway system.
"They're pretty clever, I must confess. They should lead me to the source of the city's distress." Underdog said to himself as he kept an eye on the Sprinter van that was going through the old subway tunnel.
The van eventually reached its destination at an abandoned but somehow still-operating warehouse on the outskirts of Capitol City. There was a large group of heavily armed criminals there either hanging out or loading up other Sprinter vans and box tracks. Underdog used his zoom vision to get a closer look, and what he found was the source of all of the drugs circulating around the city. Thousands of bags and bricks of several kinds of drugs were being loaded into the vans and trucks, including marijuana, methamphetamine, heroin, crack cocaine, Rohypnol, fentanyl, LSD, PCP, Psilocybin mushrooms, among many other different types of highly illegal and extremely dangerous drugs.
"So that's where the drugs are coming from. I must eliminate all that scum." Underdog determinedly said as he then made a beeline towards the warehouse, or the crackhouse as it would be called on the streets.
Many of the criminals in the vicinity looked up in the sky at Underdog's fast approach, and while some ran away, some began to shoot heavy artillery at the hero.
"Shit, Double E, Underdog has found us!" One man said on a walkie talkie.
Underdog landed at the warehouse and began to clean house, totally destroying the Sprinter vans and box trucks that were fully loaded with the drugs, Underdog being extremely careful not to destroy the drugs themselves as they were concrete evidence. Many of the men continued to shoot their heavy guns at Underdog, but all of their bullets bounced off of him with some even ricocheting and hitting the men, killing them instantly. Underdog made very easy work of the men still there.
Another man came out and shot Underdog with a high-voltage electric bolt, stunning Underdog for a few moments. Underdog knew this man very well. He was a career criminal who was extremely good at not getting caught. He knew many tricks of the trade about a life of crime, like Riff Raff, and how to pull off some of the biggest heists and get away with it. At one point, the man was known as Slippery Eel, but he was electrocuted one time and miraculously survived. He was able to concoct rays of electricity at will, prompting a name change to Electric Eel.
Underdog eventually recovered from the small sting that Electric Eel gave him with the lighting bolt and stood up straight.
"Stop this bullshit, Electric Eel. Fucking with me is not ideal." Underdog demanded.
"So, Underdog, you found my drug trafficking empire, eh?" Electric Eel responded. "You know I have to fuck you up now, don'tcha?"
"The only one who is fucked is you. Time to teach you a thing or two." Underdog said as he quickly went on the attack.
Underdog landed several hard blows on Electric Eel, but Eel was not going down easily. Eel's electric powers kept stunning Underdog and sent a few shockwaves through his body. Electric Eel was able to counter many of Underdog's blows and got in far more offense. Electric Eel eventually charged up a huge electric blast, but Underdog had the wherewithal to dodge it. Underdog was left flying around and trying to find openings to land blows, which he was marginally successful at. Some of the remaining crooks and drug dealers tried to help out Eel, but they were more of a nuisance to Underdog than anything, but they slowed him down just enough for Electric Eel to land several easy blows on Underdog.
"Stay the fuck down, Underdog!" Electric Eel demanded. "You're nothing more than just a pain in the fucking ass right now. I've been fucking around with you this whole damn time and I've already got you on the ropes!"
"I would refrain from placing your bets. This fucking fight is not over yet." Underdog suggested as he was getting up from another shock.
"If it ain't over now, it will be very, very soon!" Electric Eel boldly predicted.
"Now I will fight fire with fire to take down you and your drug empire!" Underdog said before he used a power of his called the WaterWorx.
Underdog created a water-like substance in his hands and placed it over his head, dropping it shortly thereafter on himself to create a water-based shield around him. While Underdog was creating the shield, Electric Eel powered up another huge electric blast and shot it towards Underdog. However, the shield completely evaporated the electric blast that Eel shot, after which Underdog went back on the attack.
All of Underdog's subsequent blows not only did more damage to Electric Eel, but they also crippled his ability to produce electricity at will. Every time he tried to produce electricity, it shocked him because of Underdog's water-based shield remnants getting on him. Underdog went completely on offense and gave a beatdown to Electric Eel, also fighting off a few more of the crooks and drug dealers still around.
An entire fleet of the Capitol City Narcotics Unit and a good size of the Capitol City Police Department arrived at the abandoned warehouse, having found the location because of Underdog's presence in the area. Electric Eel himself was taken into custody by Capitol City's Special Tasks Force while the Narcotics Unit, with Underdog's help, confiscated as many of the drugs that could be used as evidence as they could, some of them being destroyed in the battle.
"Thank you so much, Underdog." A member of the Narcotics Unit said. "We couldn't find the fucking source of the drugs to save our fucking lives!"
"It was my duty to end the drug spree. Now Capitol City's residents will live drug free." Underdog said as he gave handshakes, fist bumps, and thumbs up to the many cops, special tasks, and narcotics deputies in the area before flying away, another job well done.
Just two short nights later, Underdog found himself in yet another battle, this time in the form of a high-speed air chase and race. He was seen flying behind a witch that he defeated once before but was resurrected by an unsuspecting innocent man in her homeland, Pickyoon. She was simply known as The Wicked Witch of Pickyoon.
"Be gone, Underdog! Be the fuck gone!" The witch shouted as she then said some magic words before torrents of large bricks appeared magically in front of Underdog.
In no way did that hinder his progress, however, as he punched and zapped the bricks that came flying towards him.
"You will have to do better than that. Now how's about this for a tit-for-tat?" Underdog said before he began gaining on the witch, eventually passing her. He then used a power of his called the Blockade.
As soon as Underdog felt he was a good distance ahead of the witch, he used his hands and concocted a midair brick wall to try to hinder the witch's own progress. While the witch did hit the wall, it didn't really slow her down, and she began gaining on Underdog.
Both Underdog and the witch made a sharp left turn then made a dive downwards into a lengthy tunnel just outside of Capitol City. As Underdog kept flying and trying to create some distance from the witch, the witch then came up with another way to stop him. With a few magic words, a transparent portal appeared right in front of Underdog, which he unknowingly went through. The witch easily took the lead and continued on. Underdog, from his vantage point, thought he was still in the lead. In actuality, Underdog was stuck in an endless loop which saw him flying in the same tunnel, but it kept going infinitely.
"This tunnel I'm in is not correct. I must stop and give it a check." Underdog said as he slowed down his flight before eventually stopping.
He used his scan vision to look through every nook and cranny of the tunnel. He failed to find anything for a little while, but he did lay eyes on a rapidly shrinking portal which, on the other side, showed the real tunnel and the light at the end. Without hesitation, Underdog zoomed into it, making it through just as it closed.
The witch, in the meantime, was well in the lead and kept speeding away, making a very sharp right turn and started to fly over a river. From her vantage point, Underdog was not going to catch up to her, but she didn't slow down.
"Now that I've gotten rid of Underdog, all of Capitol City shall be under my power!" The witch said preceding an evil laugh.
Underdog made his way out of the tunnel, but he knew he was miles behind the witch. So he used another power of his simply named the Blue Shell. Underdog found a large rock nearby and quickly modified it with a small ray of energy, turning it into a blue turtle-like spiked shell, hence the name.
"My Blue Shell will stop the witch, and I'll put an end to all of her shit!" Underdog said as he resumed his flight with the Blue Shell in his hand.
Underdog threw the Blue Shell ahead of him, following the streaking blue trail that the shell made behind it. The witch made the trek across the river and began to enter a wooded forest area. Just as she began weaving past the trees, the Blue Shell that Underdog threw hovered over her head for a second or two before it crashed down hard on top of her, destroying her broom and leaving her stunned on the ground. It gave Underdog more than enough time to catch up and take the lead, Underdog giving her a middle finger as he zoomed by her.
Underdog himself weaved through plenty of trees at high speed inside the very dark forest, eventually reaching a cave. The witch eventually recovered and looked down at her destroyed broom.
"Shit! Damn you to Hell, Underdog!" The witch said angrily before she said a few magic words, another broom appearing right before her.
The witch got on her new broom and resumed her flight. Underdog was nearing his and the witch's destination – a large bell that, if rung one way, would have devastating effects on all of Capitol City. Of course, if the bell was rung another way, Capitol City would remain normal. Underdog made it to the large bell and began to reach for the clapper inside to ring it clockwise, but the witch wouldn't go down easily. With some magic words by the witch, Underdog felt himself getting hit very hard by an unknown source, almost like invisible fists were punching him and knocking him out, sending him tumbling towards the bottom of the cave.
The witch managed to make it three quarters of the way up to the top before Underdog recovered and struck her with a hard blow that sent her tumbling back down to the bottom.
"Take that, you ugly evil bitch! Now I'll make you cease to exist!" Underdog shouted a moment before he grabbed the clapper and started to ring the bell in his desired direction.
"Oh no you fucking don't, Underdog!" The witch got out.
The witch made a very last ditch attempt to stop Underdog's progress by casting another spell. While the spell was successful, Underdog finished ringing his bell in his desired direction a second before he burst into flames, making him tumble down towards the bottom of the cave. Underdog's successful bell ringing prevented a 1,000-year sleep for all of Capitol City and also eradicated the witch to dust just like the last time Underdog defeated her. The flames around Underdog eventually dissipated with Underdog recovering, panting with his hands on his hips after another hard-fought battle.
"The Wicked Witch of Pickyoon has gone under. There will not be a millennium slumber." Underdog said before he flew out of the cave and made the long flight back to Capitol City.
The next several weeks in Capitol City saw Underdog fighting smaller crimes in the city, ensuring the predominantly middle-aged population of Capitol City would be proud to call the city home. Underdog beat up some leftover drug dealers from the Electric Eel battle as well as a few bank robbers and other general crooks. Underdog was also called upon to defeat several different types of monsters, ranging from a two-headed dragon whose heads preached the value of teamwork to underground mole men, outer space magnet men, upon many others.
Underdog, Capitol City's Champion of Champions, proved that when trouble is near, he is not slow. It's hip, hip, hip and away he goes. All with the speed of lightning, roar of thunder, fighting all who rob or plunder.
