Chapter Eight: A Marathon Search For Evil
"Awaken from your 480 minutes of sleep, Mojo Jojo!" Mojo's own voice said near him. "For it is I, your alarm clock, whose sole purpose is to ensure you do wake up from your 28,800 seconds of slumber as a new day has begun! And because a brand new day on Planet Earth is among us, you have to rise from the embrace of sleep to…." The alarm clock voice got out before Mojo Jojo reached for his smartphone to turn it off, the chimpanzee yawning and stretching and throwing the covers off to the side.
The clock read 7:00 am. Mojo made the very short walk to his shower, a word not coming out of his mouth as he just had a usual sleepy look on his face as he had to shake the cobwebs out of him. He turned on the shower to a comfortable temperature before stripping naked and stepping right inside, grabbing a large bar of soap to lather himself up and showering, freshening himself up only after a few minutes. Mojo had a full-body dryer to dry himself up in, then he picked out a freshly laundered set of his usual outfit.
The scene shifted over to another lair in Capitol City where The Purge alarm could be heard in a room. Simon Bar Sinister and Cad Lackey could be seen in beds just a few feet from each other. Simon reached for his own smartphone to turn off the alarm, he and Cad Lackey both jumping out of bed.
"Get the coffee ready, Cad. I'm gonna go run my bath water." Simon ordered in a sleepy voice.
"Yes, boss." Cad obeyed, walking over to the kitchen to begin making coffee.
Cad simply scooped a few pre-ground scoops of coffee and placed it in a reusable filter then poured cold water inside of the maker and turned it on. Simon and Cad's coffee maker had a keep warm function on it so that whenever they both were ready for it, the coffee would still be nice and hot and ready to drink.
Simon and Cad each had their own full bathrooms, enjoying the convenience of not having to wait for an occupant to exit a single restroom before using it themselves. Cad walked into his bathroom, but unlike Simon, Cad took himself a shower. Both villains of course bathed thoroughly, and they dried themselves off the old fashioned way with very large bath towels.
They both got themselves dressed in their usual attire then made their way to the kitchen where the coffee was all ready for them both. Simon and Cad poured coffee into their coffee mugs that both had "One Day" printed on them, Simon adding creamer into his coffee while Cad kept his all black. They both sat down at the table and began to drink, a bit of silence between them both for a few moments.
"So boss, any more ideas for how we can stop Underdog?" Cad asked just to fill the silent air.
Simon remained silent for a few brief moments, taking a few more sips of his coffee.
"Shit, Cad, I am at a fucking loss." Simon finally answered. "We might just have to dig deep into the web and find something, ANYTHING to finally rid ourselves of Underdog and achieve world domination. We've gotta find something that will fucking work."
"I'll be more than glad to help, boss. For as long as it fucking takes." Cad then offered, Simon smiling and nodding.
"All right. Let's finish coffee then get right to work." Simon ordered, he and Cad swiftly finishing up their coffee before they both took a walk down into their basement.
The two Capitol City villains had to boot up their massive computer and input all of the passwords to get in, starting to browse the internet.
The scene shifted back to Mojo inside of his observatory where he was at his kitchen table eating breakfast, having his preferred two eggs, two pieces of buttered toast, three slices of bacon, and a glass of orange juice. He took a good ten minutes to eat his food then put his dishes in the dishwasher, which was at capacity, so he turned on his machine to let it wash. He then sat at his table, his head on his hands.
"Fuck those Powerpuff Girls. They always stop my plans. There just MUST be a fucking way. If I hadn't pushed Professor Utonium into that Chemical X container, those Powerpuff Girls would never have been born!" Mojo said passively angry. "But I wouldn't have my superior intellect either, but what the hell. I shan't rest until I find that one thing that will bring those tiny titans to their fucking knees! But I have got to get this right since Princess will never bail me out again if I fail, and I lack the funds necessary to get myself out."
Mojo got up and made the very short walk up to his massive computer screen and turned it on, having to input his passwords to get to his main screen and then began to browse the internet.
The scene shifted back and forth between Mojo in Townsville and Simon and Cad in Capitol City, the villains all browsing on their computers. Much of their time was spent in the highly illegal dark web, but they weren't really looking to do any big time illegal deeds, as much as they were evil. Rather, they were looking for something hidden in the darkest places of the dark web (as if it wasn't dark enough already) that just might be the answer to stop the respective heroes of their cities.
Throughout their many hours of browsing, noises could be heard outside, whether it be the Powerpuff Girls stopping everyday crimes in Townsville or Underdog saving the day in Capitol City. The chimpanzee of Townsville and the two human evildoers of Capitol City only took breaks to use the restroom or to have very quick meals, all because they were so deeply entrenched into finding something of interest in an attempt to stop the heroes of their respective cities.
They all stayed up for an unbelievable 36 long hours, having to fight off sleep to find the thing that could be their golden ticket. The villains eventually found something of interest. It was an ages-old document that had been kept very top secret. It could not have been found on the normal internet, and they all had to jump through quite a few hoops on the dark web to really get it in its raw form.
Mojo, Simon, and Cad all briefly glanced through the document, but the villains' eyes just could not stay open no matter how hard they tried, and they were in a total state of brain shock and getting in several microsleeps.
"Hmmmm, this could be it!" Mojo said almost excitedly but sleepily. "Let me retrace my steps to get back to this!" He then added, making handwritten notes in his college-ruled notebook on his exact search queries and retracing the steps he took to gain access to the document, his handwriting a tad sloppy because of his extreme sleepiness.
Simon did the same thing on his end, though with Cad's assistance. Simon let out a cautiously optimistic chuckle from the document he briefly glanced through.
"Cad, did you get all of that?" Simon asked.
"Yep, boss, got everything." Cad confirmed.
"Great. Now let's get some fucking shuteye and read over this in the morning. This just might be what we need." Simon said in between several yawns.
The three villains, all walking around like zombies because of their 36-hour marathon of dark web surfing without a lick of sleep whatsoever other than the microsleeps, all dressed up in their night attire, their clocks all reading 7:00 pm, meaning they went a full day and a half on their quest to find something to defeat their respective archrivals. Mojo, Simon, and Cad all dressed up in their night attire, immediately laying their heads on their pillows and throwing the covers over themselves, very shortly succumbing to the embrace of sleep.
