Chapter Eleven: The Temple Of Reckoning's Infiltration
It was fifteen minutes to midnight. Mojo Jojo, Simon Bar Sinister, and Cad Lackey were at their respective lairs finishing up their preparations to head to where they all pinpointed the Temple of Reckoning to be.
In Mojo's case, he was going to make the trip by helicopter, loading up all sorts of food, weapons, clothes, devices, among many other things to ensure his trip would go off without a hitch, checking off a lengthy checklist to make sure he got everything. His helicopter was built like a tank, so he knew it would support all of the weight.
Simon and Cad, on the other hand, were making the trip by boat, which was more of a high-speed ship that was also built like a tank. But they both had some extra legwork to do on their part. Simon got a spare box truck that he had lying around in an off-site garage in Capitol City. He backed it into his driveway, he and Cad loading up everything they needed with Cad checking off a lengthy checklist while Simon called everything out to him. After the truck was loaded up, Simon and Cad made the very short trip to the Capitol City docks where they both unloaded from the truck and loaded onto the boat. Cad parked the truck in the nearby parking lot by the docks before rejoining Simon by the boat.
The three villains had about five minutes to spare before their imposed departure time. So the three villains did thorough pretrip inspections on their respective vehicles to make sure everything was in proper working order and at proper operating levels. They then turned on several vital things inside of their chosen vehicles to make sure they too were operating properly.
Mojo plugged in his recorded coordinates into his GPS and got an estimated travel time of nine hours.
"Shit! This is gonna be quite a long trip!" Mojo said as he rubbed his chin. "I'd better get comfortable."
Simon also plugged in his recorded coordinates into his GPS, but because he had a slightly slower vehicle, his estimated travel time was nine and a half hours.
"Shit, boss, that's gonna be a long fucking trip!" Cad mentioned, Simon nodding.
"Yeah, that fucking temple is in the middle of fucking nowhere in the Atlantic!" Simon added, confirming the area of the Temple of Reckoning. "We'd better get nice and comfortable!"
The three villains did two final things inside of their vehicles. First, they plugged in flash drives inside of their music players to get some music playing during their long trips. Two minutes before departure time, the villains, as weird and contradictory as it sounded, all said a prayer just asking for their safety during their trip.
The clock finally struck midnight, and the three villains all departed from their respective cities.
"And away I go! My world takeover commences at this very moment!" Mojo said as he left his helipad to head to the Temple of Reckoning. "And when I arrive on Temple Island, I will enter the Temple of Reckoning, grab the Bracelets of Despair and the Forbidden Necklace, find three evil females willing to assist me, then destroy the Powerpuff Girls and rule the world!" Mojo added with an evil laugh at the end.
"Simon says….shove off!" Simon said as he and Cad left the docks to head to the Temple of Reckoning. "The world is within our grasp, Cad, ain't no stoppin' us now!" Simon added with an evil laugh.
For the next several hours, the three villains, after they found a good rhythm, allowed their vehicles to operate on autopilot, programming them to follow the set GPS coordinates. They all cooked their meals inside, Mojo having his usual breakfast of two eggs, two slices of buttered toast, three slices of bacon, and orange juice. Simon and Cad also ate their usual breakfast of three slices of bacon each, three pork sausage links each, and butter grits, and of course drank their coffee. Mojo, Simon, and Cad all thought about the past times the Powerpuff Girls, in Mojo's case, and Underdog, in Simon and Cad's case, stopped them after all of the plans, plots, machines, robots, among many other things that they failed at throughout the years. The villains were able to get a gorgeous view of the Sun rising from the horizon, taking the time to bask in the view with warm smiles on their faces.
"Shit, I'm about to rule the world in a matter of days, but wow, I can't deny that view." Mojo said happily.
"Boss, ain't God's creation fucking sweet?" Cad asked Simon.
"Can't say you're wrong there, Cad." Simon replied. "But God's creation will soon be under our control."
Roughly 45 minutes before the end of Mojo's trip and roughly 60 minutes before the end of Simon and Cad's trip, they all could see something from afar coming into view. Mojo and Cad looked through their telescopes and saw the unmistakable features of the Temple of Reckoning in the distance. Mojo's eyes lit up heavily, getting close to his destination, while Cad gasped loudly and alerted Simon.
"There it is! The Temple of Reckoning DOES exist on this planet!" Mojo said excitedly. "And inside that very temple houses the four pieces of jewelry I must acquire to defeat the only thing standing in between me and total world domination! And when I succeed in procuring the jewelry, I shall indeed destroy the sole obstacle I have been unsuccessful at destroying for many, many years, thus eliminating the roadblock keeping me from achieving my life's dream, and that's to rule the world!" Mojo said in his usual "Molinguish" speaking pattern, proceeding it with an evil laugh.
"Boss, look!" Cad said as he gave Simon the telescope. "That's gotta be it!"
"Fuck yeah! That's it, Cad! Thar she blows!" Simon said excitedly. "The very temple that contains the objects we need for total world domination! I can fucking taste it now! Underdog will soon be a thing of the fucking past!" Simon added with an evil laugh.
A realization came onto the villains as they knew they had work to do. They knew that the eleven rumored impenetrable layers of the Temple of Reckoning were all transparent, meaning they wouldn't be able to see them with the naked eye. But that posed no problem for the villains because their vehicles were equipped with a device that would make anything transparent easily visible.
"Transparency scan, activate!" Mojo shouted out to his computer, the helicopter shooting out an invisible beam that revealed all eleven layers of the temple.
"Cad, shoot out the transparency scan now!" Simon ordered, Cad doing just that with the boat also shooting out an invisible beam that revealed all eleven layers of the temple.
The layers consisted of eleven force fields, and in between the layers, from outermost to innermost, the villains saw the following: An area with an exact replica of Venus and its atmosphere; an area with roughly 30 amps of electricity; an area with lethal amounts of radiation; an area with a temperature of absolute zero; an area with a light so bright it would be instantly blinding; an area where it rained razor sharp objects; an area with a massive swarm of stinging insects of all kinds; an area where gunfire shoots from all directions; an area that had a sound of 600 decibels; an area with a mixture of predatory land and water animals that hunt and kill; and an area where highly disturbing visual and auditory hallucinations occur, mainly discouraging any person from entering the Temple of Reckoning.
Mojo, Simon, and Cad were admittedly very frightened and disturbed at what they all saw, so Mojo hovered his helicopter nearby while Simon and Cad stopped their boat to take in everything they saw.
"Shit, those assholes from centuries ago really didn't want anybody entering the Temple of Reckoning!" Mojo said in disbelief. "But they're gonna have to do better than that! There's nothing a little research couldn't tell me!" Mojo added with an evil laugh.
"Shit, those fuckers from a long time ago went over-fucking-board!" Simon said in disbelief. "They really didn't want anybody getting into that fucking place, hmmm?"
"Yeah, boss, gotta tip my hat to them, they outdid themselves." Cad added. "But boss, those force fields are weak as fuck. It should be no problem breaking through."
"Yes, Cad, but I am a bit worried about the layers, though. But I don't foresee it taking it too long to figure out the solution. Let's research and see what we can find!" Simon said.
The villains moved to park their vehicles on Temple Island, the small island that the Temple of Reckoning sat on, having to move past another small island surrounding it with what looked to be an upscale village, though it looked very deserted from their standpoint. Mojo landed his helicopter on the right side of the Temple of Reckoning while Simon and Cad pulled their boat over to the left side of the Temple of Reckoning.
They all used their transparency scans on their respective vehicles again while typing in some search queries on the dark web based on their findings. They stumbled upon a page and looked into it, the three villains getting in long grins and laughs as they found the exact answers they were looking for.
"Haha, I already have that! This will be as easy as uno, dos, tres!" Mojo said, the Townsville chimpanzee grabbing a small ring to place on his finger, which would allow him to negate any effects that all eleven layers would have and have him break through the force fields.
"Boss, these arm sleeves we have, they should do it!" Cad told Simon just as he was passing the sleeves to his boss, both men putting them on their arms.
"Yes, this shan't be a fucking problem, Cad!" Simon added, the sleeves also able to negate any effects that all eleven layers would have and have them break through the force fields.
The three villains also put on compact backpacks full of small and large weapons and equipment they would need.
"Well, here goes nothing!" Mojo, Simon, and Cad said simultaneously from their respective sides of the temple after taking deep breaths.
The Townsville and Capitol City villains made a run for it up the very long staircases outside of the temple. The instant they broke through the outermost force field, a massive protective layer engulfed them all, having them very easily penetrate what was thought to be impenetrable.
The sound and feel that the penetration made was very far reaching, the nearby island village feeling a massive earthquake-like jolt with it sounding off a huge sonic boom and a huge blinding flash on the globe. It very nearly started a tsunami on the island village.
The villains' climb up the stairs was not as straightforward as they thought. Mojo, Simon, and Cad found out quickly that the eleven layers had optical and auditory illusions, something that they did not see in their transparency scans. This made them go up a seemingly endless stairway. But luckily for them, there were very faint, fast-moving, and subtle clues along the way to where they could go in the right direction.
The villains eventually made it to the entrances of the Temple of Reckoning on their respective sides, evil smiles and grins on their faces. They casually pressed the buttons near the doors on their sides of the temple, the doors indeed opening. But they very quickly slammed shut before they could even take a single stride to enter. They all tried again, but got the same result.
"FUCK! Open up you son of a bitch!" Mojo shouted out in frustration, trying once again to open the door on his side and even using one of his weapons to keep the button pressed down, but still no dice.
"Come on, you big sack of shit, stay the fuck open!" Simon shouted out in frustration, he and Cad also trying everything imaginable to keep the door open, but no luck on their end.
