Chapter Eighteen: The Hunt For The Jewelry Thieves
The Powerpuff Girls and Underdog, having joined forces to create a superhero team that only a team such as the Justice League or the Avengers could compete with, made the very lengthy flight from the Temple of Reckoning to Townsville, the girls of course leading the way since it was their city. The flight back took only 50 minutes, but that was extremely long for the heroes' standards with their powers of super speed and flight.
Upon arriving in Townsville, Blossom pointed at Mojo Jojo's observatory, signaling to Bubbles, Buttercup, and Underdog that it was their first stop. The heroes all made a beeline for the observatory, determined to stop one of the prime suspects that they believed had the jewelry.
"Ready or not, Mojo, here we come!" Blossom announced as the heroes broke right through the front door.
"Show yourself, you fucking pussy! And give up the fucking jewelry!" Buttercup shouted out.
There of course was no response given, the heroes unaware of Mojo's true fate. They stood around and waited for a reply, but all they heard was eerie silence.
"If you won't come out then we'll find you. Stopping your evil is what we'll do!" Underdog shouted out, but of course still crickets.
"Damnit, looks like Mojo doesn't wanna come out and play." Bubbles said with a shrug.
"All right! Powerpuff Girls and Underdog, spread and search!" Blossom commanded.
The four heroes used their speed to comb through every last nook and cranny of Mojo's observatory. They searched for several minutes, finding a few secret rooms hidden behind secret doors to hunt for Mojo in. At one point, Buttercup gasped as she saw something important.
"I FOUND HIM!" Buttercup shouted out to everyone.
Blossom, Bubbles, and Underdog immediately joined Buttercup in the room she believed Mojo to be in, Buttercup immediately making a beeline for what looked to be Mojo. But Underdog, sensing something was amiss, flew right after Buttercup just as the figure that looked like Mojo turned around and shot out a massive laser. The laser had capabilities where if hit, the person would be instantly paralyzed. Underdog got Buttercup out of harm's way, Blossom and Bubbles also having to dodge the laser.
After ensuring he and Buttercup were safe, Underdog used his laser eyebeams to destroy the lookalike Mojo, Blossom and Bubbles flying over to Buttercup and Underdog to make sure Buttercup was all right.
"Phew! That was close!" Blossom said.
"Wow, thanks for saving my ass, Underdog!" Buttercup said as she hugged the Capitol City hero.
"No problem, Buttercup, I knew it was fake. I smelled that bullshit from a mile away." Underdog said as he hugged Buttercup in return.
"How did you know, Underdog?" Bubbles asked.
"Call it a sixth sense if you will. Years of fighting evil gave me that skill." Underdog answered.
"Shit, are you Underdog or are you Spider-Man?" Buttercup asked as the four heroes all let out laughs. "That sounds like some Spider Sense shit to me!"
"Glad to have you as a teammate, Underdog!" Blossom said with a smile. "Now let's not waste any more time, everyone! Mojo's in here somewhere. Spread and search!" Blossom then commanded once again.
The four heroes continued their search for the Townsville villain inside the observatory, Bubbles even using her power all over the place to try to reveal where Mojo may be in case he was invisible. But of course, there was no dice whatsoever. The girls and Underdog met in the middle, taking a few moments to catch their breaths.
"FUCK! That son of a bitch isn't here!" Buttercup screamed out in frustration.
"Your monkey friend could be anywhere in the city. Searching the whole place will not be pretty." Underdog pondered.
"No, Underdog." Bubbles disagreed. "We know Mojo like the backs of our hands. He would be in one of three places – here, in jail, or in some big dumbass fucking robot trying to take over Townsville."
"Bubbles is right." Blossom said in agreement with Bubbles. "And we know he's not in jail since we would've kicked his ass and put him there, and he's obviously not fucking up the city now."
"So now what do we do?! We can't just keep spinning our fucking wheels here!" Buttercup asked.
"There's still Simon and Cad, those two bad guys. To Capitol City we must fly!" Underdog suggested.
"Good idea, Underdog." Blossom agreed. "Do you know how to get there from here?"
"I will get us there with the quick speed. Come on girls and follow my lead!" Underdog answered.
The Powerpuff Girls and Underdog flew out of Mojo's observatory, going in the general direction of Capitol City. However, on the way, another city that the girls were vividly familiar with appeared on the horizon. The girls had to get a bit closer to see that very city, and when a familiar landmark appeared in the distance, the girls instantly recognized the city.
"FUCK! It's Citiesville!" Buttercup shouted.
"Oh, no, no, no, no, please God no!" Bubbles said in a very sad voice, starting to shake in fear as flashbacks began to come at her very rapidly as soon as the name of the city was mentioned.
"Shit! Underdog, we've gotta fucking land or find an alternate path RIGHT FUCKING NOW!" Blossom shouted out with urgency in her voice.
"We can't use superpowers in that piece of shit city, Underdog!" Buttercup added with the same urgency in her voice.
Underdog could only get out a little laugh as Blossom and Buttercup's urgency didn't even concern him a bit.
"You don't have to worry about that ordeal. The new mayor since had that law repealed!" Underdog revealed to the girls.
Blossom and Buttercup looked around flabbergasted as the four heroes flew over Citiesville, police helicopters visible in the air but not even stopping the girls and Underdog in their tracks. Though of course, a few cops still remembered the horror, at least from their perspective, that the girls brought to their city, some even flipping them off.
"Yeah, fuck you too." Buttercup said towards the cops flipping off the heroes, though mainly the girls.
Bubbles was still visibly shaking and eerily quiet, the flashbacks from the girls' brief stay there continuing to flood her mind.
Continuing on through the city, there was a billboard that confirmed Underdog's statement. The billboard read in big and bold letters "Citiesville: The MAJOR Superpowered City!" And on that billboard, there was a picture of the new Citiesville mayor, the man bearing an extremely close resemblance to a very intelligent boy in a well-known cul-de-sac, complete with the black ski hat, red t-shirt, purple pants, the works. Also featured on the billboard was a person that the girls were familiar with. He was a big and muscular person with tall blonde hair with a red cape and a white and blue suit with a large M on his chest.
"You have got to be fucking shitting me, that Major Moron?!" Buttercup pondered as the heroes kept flying over Citiesville.
Further along, The Powerpuff Girls and Underdog flew over the very bridge that the girls once destroyed. The bridge had since been not only fully repaired thanks to government assistance, but repainted and improved to be built to more modern standards. In almost a very weird twist of fate, the girls and Underdog all saw the aforementioned person that Buttercup mentioned, Major Man, flying in the opposite direction. Major Man saw the girls and, just like the cops, gave them middle fingers.
"Fuck you too, you sorry ass excuse for a superhero!" Blossom shouted. "Not you, Underdog. Don't ask. Long story."
After a long flyby over Citiesville, The Powerpuff Girls and Underdog were out of the city limits, Underdog making a sharp left turn with the girls following behind. Blossom and Buttercup looked back towards Bubbles with concern on their faces. Bubbles's very visible heavy breathing soon turned into hyperventilation.
"Underdog, stop a minute!" Blossom said to Underdog, who also flew over to join Bubbles to console her.
"Bubbles, it's okay, we're out now." Buttercup said as she, Blossom and Underdog tried to calm Bubbles down.
Bubbles did her best to fight off the urge to cry, but her emotions got the best of her, the dam breaking and her getting out a big, long cry.
"That mother fucking piece of shit city! I was hoping I NEVER had to see that fucking cesspool of a city ever again in my life!" Bubbles cried out, the very bad memories haunting her. "Fuck that city! Damn it to fucking Hell! Burn in fucking Hell! Let the mother fucker burn for all fucking eternity!"
"I know, Bubbles, and I don't blame you. I still get flashbacks too from time to time." Blossom said as Bubbles was still crying profusely with her head on Blossom's shoulder. "But we need you to shake it all off now. We've gotta haul ass to Capitol City."
"You have PTSD no doubt. On the way back we'll take a different route." Underdog offered.
Bubbles, however, shook her head, her breathing beginning to normalize and with her crying beginning to slow down, just wiping away a few leftover tears.
"No, no, it's fine. You guys are right." Bubbles got out. "We have a world to save. Even if it means going through that fucking shithole that calls itself a city, so fucking be it." Bubbles then assured.
"Atta girl, Bubbles, but we mustn't delay. Capitol City now awaits." Underdog said as he hugged Bubbles and patted her on the head, the heroes resuming their flight to Capitol City.
"So Underdog, now I'm curious. How in the world did you know Citiesville repealed their no superpowers law?" Blossom inquired as the heroes made their flight.
"I was invited there by the new mayor. He saw how superpowers did them favors." Underdog answered.
"Wow, could've invited us." Blossom pondered.
"Should've invited us." Buttercup added.
"I would've declined that invitation to Shittiesville." Bubbles added.
"I know you told me not to ask, but what's with Major Man that got you mad?" Underdog then inquired.
"Long story short, the son of a bitch tried to replace us in Townsville. We exposed his ass as a fraud, and he got the hell out of town." Buttercup answered. "I so wanted to beat the major shit out of him."
"That is quite strange I must admit. When I met him he seemed legit." Underdog mentioned.
"Yeah, let's not delve deep into that. We've gotta stay focused." Blossom added.
For the next 90 minutes, the heroes made the flight to Capitol City. Upon arrival, Underdog pointed at Simon Bar Sinister's laboratory with him and the Powerpuff Girls making a beeline towards it, determined to stop two more of the prime suspects that they believed had the jewelry. They all broke through the front door, their eight eyes looking around for the two Capitol City villains.
"Come on out, Simon and Cad. The Powerpuffs and I will kick your ass!" Underdog shouted out.
But just like in Mojo's observatory, it was just a deafening silence, the heroes unaware of the fact that Simon and Cad successfully stole the jewelry and got away.
"Don't make us look for you assholes!" Blossom yelled out as well, but of course there was no response.
"Ah, fuck this! Let's search this mother fucker and fish out those two shits!" Buttercup suggested.
Like with Mojo's observatory, the girls and Underdog searched every last nook and cranny of Simon's lab, taking several minutes to search for the two villains. Bubbles again used her power to reveal anything invisible to see if Simon and Cad may have been invisible, but there was no luck whatsoever. Just like with Mojo's observatory, the heroes found absolutely nothing.
"Damnit, no sign of them!" Bubbles got out.
"Underdog, any idea where Simon could be in the city?" Blossom asked.
"Like your monkey friend, it's one of three – here, behind bars, or terrorizing the city." Underdog responded.
"FUCK! This is a mother fucking wild goose chase!" Buttercup yelled out in frustration.
"One that we need to put an end to. Come on everybody, we've gotta put on our Scooby-Doo hats and search for clues." Blossom suggested.
The Powerpuff Girls and Underdog flew out of Simon's lab, continuing their search for whatever villain may have been responsible for stealing the Forbidden Necklace and the Bracelets of Despair.
