Chapter Twenty-Six: A Brand New Day Of Heroism And Villainy
A new day had arisen in the City of Townsville. The saga of the Forbidden Necklace and the Bracelets of Despair had resumed, the weight of the world resting on catching the jewelry thieves before the jewelry could be activated. The scene was inside of Mojo Jojo's observatory overlooking much of Townsville where two of Capitol City's notorious villains, Simon Bar Sinister and Cad Lackey, had spent the night. They didn't have their alarms set, instead just sleeping in. But they still woke up fairly early in the morning at approximately 8:30 am. The villains sat on the edges of the bunk bed for a few moments with Simon on the top bunk and Cad on the bottom bunk, stretching and yawning and trying to shake off the cobwebs of waking up. Simon eventually climbed down from the top bunk while Cad simply got up from the bottom bunk.
"Cad, see if you can find us some coffee in this mother fucker and get it ready." Simon ordered sleepily, Cad simply nodding.
The villains' makeup faded away overnight, leaving them nearly undisguised, just having on their Gen Z style of clothing. Cad walked around Mojo's observatory for a little while, seeing numerous pictures of Mojo in various stages of his life, starting from when he was born to him growing older to when he was Professor Utonium's assistant to the current day supervillain he was known to many as.
Cad, after searching around for a few minutes, eventually found the kitchen and took a brief look around. He stumbled upon the coffee maker, but it wasn't the simplistic coffee maker that he and Simon were very much used to. Rather, it was the Keurig style of coffee maker that was very popular amongst the predominantly younger generation in Townsville.
"Damnit, I hate these fucking things." Cad said in frustration as he began to prepare the coffee.
"Cad, did you find anything?" Simon shouted out as he walked towards Mojo's computer.
"Yeah, boss, this fucking Keurig. I'll have it whipped up in a bit." Cad answered.
Cad grabbed two regular size coffee mugs from the cabinet then grabbed a Keurig pod and placed it into the machine.
As Cad was making the coffee, Simon turned on Mojo's computer, waiting for it to boot up. It didn't take awfully long since Mojo had an SSD installed, but the start screen asked for a password.
"Ah, shit." Simon said in a bit of frustration.
Simon got back up and walked to his backpack, reaching inside of it to grab a small USB flash drive. He walked back to the computer and looked for an available USB port. He had to do a lot of hunting, but he found one that was nice and free. He plugged it in and simply waited. The USB flash drive had a piece of software on it that would reveal passwords from pretty much any source within only a few minutes. It was something Simon developed himself as he was plotting his nefarious schemes throughout the years.
As Simon waited, the scent of the coffee hit his nostrils, the Capitol City villain getting out a long "aaaah" sound from the wonderful aroma.
"Damn, that fucking Keurig actually did a nice fucking job there!" Simon said as Cad was walking back into the area where Simon was sitting.
Cad had two coffee mugs in his hand and sat Simon's cup next to him. He then pulled up a chair and sat down next to Simon.
"Got your creamer in there just like you like it, boss." Cad mentioned.
"Good. A toast?" Simon proposed.
Simon and Cad toasted their two cups of coffee before they took their first few sips. The USB drive had finished its work and revealed Mojo's computer password. The password read "mojotheundisputedruler", Cad giving the dismissive hand gesture with one hand.
"Undisputed ruler my ass." Simon said with a laugh as he clicked on the start button to get to the main desktop.
The wallpaper was a simple AI generated image of Mojo standing tall over The Powerpuff Girls with a triumphant smile on his face. Simon simply double-clicked on the browser of choice, Google Chrome, to get right online.
"Let's find out more about this fucking city and see what we can find, Cad." Simon said as he and Cad surfed the internet in search of any potential female teammates.
The scene shifted over to the Powerpuff Household where The Powerpuff Girls themselves were getting themselves ready for a new day. Blossom sat at her dresser and brushed her long orange hair while looking in the mirror, getting it nice and straight. Bubbles had on her headphones and sung along to a song she liked, bobbing her head from side to side. Buttercup was in a separate corner punching and kicking a heavy bag that had been heavily fortified to withstand the increased forces of her punches and kicks.
Underdog, in the meantime, finished up his morning routine in the guest room, able to get all of it done again due to the amenities available to him. He was fully dressed in his full uniform, walking up the stairs of the basement and getting into the living room, where he greeted Professor Utonium, who was reading the newspaper.
"Good morning, Underdog!" Professor Utonium greeted. "How did you sleep last night?"
"I slept very well and had sweet dreams. But now it's time to stop an evil scheme." Underdog replied.
"Yes, indeed. Let me see if the…." Professor Utonium got out.
Before he could finish his sentence, the girls flew downstairs, fully dressed as well.
"Morning, Underdog!" Buttercup greeted. "Did the guest room treat you well?"
"Yes, it did, it was very neat. But there are bad guys that we must defeat." Underdog answered.
"Love the way you think, Underdog, not wanting to waste time." Blossom said.
"Yes, but first, shall we pray?" Professor Utonium suggested, the heroes all nodding.
Everyone held hands and said a simple prayer with Professor Utonium leading the prayer, just asking for safety, peace, and for the heroes to catch the villains before the jewelry could be activated.
"Father, in the name of Jesus we pray." Professor Utonium said.
"Amen." All five occupants said in unison.
"Now go get those evildoers, girls and Underdog, and save the world!" Professor Utonium said. "We know you will do it!"
"You bet, Professor!" Bubbles said.
"When the world is in trouble, we are not slow. It's hip hip hip and away we go!" Underdog said before the heroes exited the house to resume the search for the jewelry thieves.
The scene shifted back to Simon and Cad in Mojo's observatory, the two villains browsing around on Google and on Townsville's official website just trying to find anything they could on any females that could assist them. Most of the stuff they saw on the official website was news that The Powerpuff Girls defeated Mojo Jojo, including the most recent one when they stopped his Invulnerabot. There was also a sprinkling of news about HIM, Fuzzy Lumpkins, and the Gangreen Gang. They also stumbled upon an article or two on villains such as Lenny Baxter, the Broccoloids, Dick Hardly, the Cat Man Do cat villain, Lou Gubrious, the Baloney Brothers, All-Beef Patty, the Salami Swami, among others.
Eventually, they stumbled upon an article from years back on how The Powerpuff Girls stopped a female villain named Sedusa when she had gotten a hold of three Egyptian artifacts, the article titled "Sedusa's Latest Sinister Plot Gets Squashed".
"Hey, boss, check that one out!" Cad said to Simon, who clicked on the article in question.
The Capitol City villains read the article in depth, the article explaining the saga on how Sedusa got the three Egyptian artifacts – a scepter, an amulet, and a tiara – with the help of the Gangreen Gang. The article goes on to mention how The Powerpuff Girls were unable to stop Sedusa until they removed the tiara and Sedusa was taken into custody. Simon and Cad couldn't help but get in a grin on their faces as they saw what could be a potential teammate on their quest to rule the world.
"Hmmm, Sedusa, eh?" Simon said, rubbing his chin.
"Gotta admit, boss, she's a tip drill. I'd hit it for sure." Cad said with a laugh.
"Yes, so would I, Cad, but more importantly, she would be perfect for one of our three ladies!" Simon added. "She HAS to know two more as well."
"Well, how do we find her, boss? What if she is still in jail?" Cad pondered.
"I'm gonna do a deep dive into all of that shit right now, Cad." Simon responded. "In the meantime, I need you to just keep an eye out in case The Powerpuff Girls and Underdog come nearby."
"Yes, boss. I'll holler if I see anything." Cad obeyed.
Cad simply walked over to the windows of the observatory with his binoculars, just browsing around the skies and the ground to make sure no one was coming.
As Simon was diving deep into whatever information he could find out about Sedusa, the scene shifted back to The Powerpuff Girls and Underdog, who were deep on the hunt for the jewelry thieves. They searched high and low in the City of Townsville, looking for clues to help them locate the criminals. But they were still coming up as empty as could be.
"Hey, girls!" One male voice shouted out to the heroes as they were passing by him.
He was an anthropomorphic red squirrel who was a chronic, incurable alcoholic, and he had been arrested numerous times for many alcohol-related crimes like DUI, public intoxication, among many others. He even had an encounter with the girls themselves when he attempted to rob a bank while very heavily intoxicated, the girls stopping him like any other would-be bank robber and sending him off to jail. When the girls saw him, they scoffed and rolled their eyes in annoyance, knowing his very drunken tendencies.
"Aaargh, mother fucking Conker." Buttercup said, confirming the squirrel's name.
"So fucking annoying!" Bubbles added.
"Fuck him. Let's keep going." Blossom said.
"Girls! Wait! I got something to tell you!" Conker said, the squirrel actually a little sober at that time.
The girls looked at each other and rolled their eyes again, hesitantly flying over to him with Underdog following close behind.
"Make it fucking quick, Conker. We DO NOT have time for your drunken ass fairy tales!" Blossom demanded.
"Oh, girls, I need a fucking drink. I actually haven't had one in three days. Damn this court order straight to Hell!" Conker revealed before he looked at Underdog. "You in the red. You look legal. Go buy me a bottle of Moet, chop chop. Here, I've got the money." Conker added, pulling out two $100 bills.
"Like Blossom said, you best make it quick. You're three seconds away from getting your ass kicked!" Underdog warned.
"All right, all right, shit!" Conker said in frustration. "Can't a guy at least trouble you for a shot of vodka?"
"Damnit, Conker, tell us what you need to tell us all fucking ready!" Bubbles demanded.
"Okay, just fuck it!" Conker said in frustration with a shrug. "I saw a guy run up into Mojo's observatory last night. Might be Mojo. You guys should check that shit out."
"You better not be bullshitting, Conker." Buttercup warned as she grabbed Conker's shirt and pulled him towards her. "Because if you are, I'm gonna reintroduce your ass to Punchy McGee and Fisty O'Flanagan, got it?"
"No, no, no, I swear to God, girls." Conker assured. "You three kicked my ass the other day I said never again. I know you guys are looking for Mojo, and I'm only trying to help."
"Well, Conker, thanks, I guess." Blossom said as Buttercup let him go. "You may have actually stopped this wild goose chase."
"No problem, girls. And about that drink…" Conker got out.
"Come on, everybody!" Blossom said as the heroes made a beeline towards Mojo's observatory, disregarding Conker's latest words.
The scene shifted back to said observatory where Simon had gotten deeper into the research on Sedusa. He had pieced together a few more articles on her and even browsed on the Townsville inmate search to see if she was currently imprisoned, which she wasn't. Simon even got a roundabout area of where her residence was so he could easily find her.
Cad looked out the window some more with the binoculars and was jamming to some music in his earbuds. After a while of not seeing anything, Cad spotted the familiar pink, blue, and green trails that the girls emitted from behind them as well as the starry-like streaks that Underdog emitted. And when he looked even closer, he could see that they were making a beeline in their direction. Simon had just finished up his research on Sedusa when Cad ran into the area where Simon was.
"Boss! We gotta fucking move! The Powerpuff Girls and Underdog are fucking coming!" Cad shouted out in an urgent tone.
"SHIT! Come on, Cad, let's make our exit now!" Simon shouted out.
Simon and Cad swiftly grabbed all of their belongings and made a beeline towards the back of the observatory. They couldn't really find a way out until they pressed a button that opened up another door, and the second they stepped through, a trap door opened underneath them, sending them falling right through it.
Just a second or two later, the heroes busted right through the front door, looking around to try to find any occupants.
"Come on out, Mojo, we know you're here!" Blossom shouted out, but of course there was nothing but crickets.
"Fuck it! Let's fish out that mother fucker!" Buttercup angrily suggested.
The heroes once again searched all over Mojo's observatory in an attempt to fish out its occupant(s). They deep dove into the entire observatory and searched for any kinds of hidden areas. Bubbles at one point opened up the door that Simon and Cad went through moments ago, but because she was flying and floating, she didn't activate the trap door underneath and didn't find anything. After several minutes of searching, the heroes met up in the center of Mojo's observatory, frustration mounting on their faces.
"FUCK! Still nothing!" Buttercup screamed. "Conker is sooooooo getting his fucking ass kicked!"
"Not so fast, Buttercup, check this out." Underdog said as he stopped Buttercup from leaving. "Maybe the truth did come out of your squirrel friend's mouth."
Underdog pointed at the large screen on Mojo's computer with the wallpaper prominently showing.
"Hey, somebody was just here!" Bubbles said. "For once, Conker wasn't bullshitting with his drunken ass!"
"It's gotta be Mojo! He's somewhere in the city!" Blossom said.
"We cannot rule out Simon and Cad. They too could've been here, no doubt about that." Underdog mentioned.
"Right, Underdog. It's time we go around asking folks if they've seen anything or anyone suspicious." Blossom mentioned. "We're getting close to solving this fucking mystery."
"Then there is no time to waste. Let's interrogate and let's make haste." Underdog said.
The Powerpuff Girls and Underdog flew out of the observatory to resume their search for the jewelry thieves, also including talking amongst the residents of Townsville for clues.
In the meantime, the scene shifted right back to the very bottom of the trap door that Simon and Cad fell through. The two Capitol City villains were very slow to get up after taking a nasty fall from a good height. Cad was the first to get up, dusting himself off and trying to shake off a small limp. He then helped up his boss, also having to dust him off. Both villains had to regain their equilibrium for a few moments, shaking off some lingering aches and pains as well.
"You okay, boss?" Cad asked Simon.
"Yeah, I'm fine, Cad. Thanks a lot." Simon answered.
"Were you able to find out anything about that Sedusa chick, boss?" Cad inquired.
"Yes, Cad, I got all sorts of info on her." Simon replied as he pulled out his phone, which surprisingly was in perfect condition after the fall. "Check this out, Cad. She's about a good four hours from here if we go on foot, but that's gonna be a long ass fucking walk."
"Well, boss, we can always take the subway. Problem is finding a subway station nearby." Cad suggested.
"Good idea, Cad. Let's see where this tunnel goes, then we can maybe find a subway." Simon mentioned. "But first, we better disguise up again. The Powerpuff Girls and Underdog are hot on our fucking trail."
"Sure thing, boss. We need to do something different, though." Cad suggested. "We won't have to dress like these fucking kids today. Check this out."
Cad reached into his backpack and pulled out two more pairs of clothing. One looked like a suit and tie but was actually a shirt and pants while the other was a striped golf shirt with some matching pants. Cad also pulled out two pairs of eyeglasses, some fake mustaches, and some fake beards. To round out their looks, Cad also pulled out two fedora hats, one black and one brown. The villains put on the outfits, Simon opting for the suit and tie-like outfit with the black fedora hat and Cad opting for the striped golf shirt with the matching pants and the brown fedora hat, the villains also outfitting themselves with the eyeglasses and fake facial hair.
Since there was no mirror to gauge how they looked, Simon used the picture mode on his phone and put it on selfie mode so that the villains could get a look at themselves in the disguises.
"Well, better than before, Cad, but we still look like shit." Simon said.
"Better than nothing, boss." Cad mentioned.
"Yeah, you're right." Simon agreed. "Now let's get out of here and pay a little visit to our Sedusa lady. She'll for sure agree to be one of our three ladies. Simon says….march!"
Simon and Cad started their walk out from the underground cavern they were in, their next move in their plan all set.
