It was nighttime and everything was peaceful. In the sky, the stars twinkled. A soft babble from a creek echoed in the darkness. Until a siren went off in the distance.
Then a blue blast came out of nowhere.
The tower's flood lights came on and the machines activated. The E-30 Laser tanks moved to protect the base from Sonic the Hedgehog. As he ran ahead, he smiled at the challenge as the robots moved out and targeted him. As he came into range, they opened fire at him. He nimbly dodged their blast and chuckled as they fired rockets at him.
"Is that the best you can do, Eggman?" Sonic the Hedgehog taunted him since he knew he would be watching him.
The rockets exploded behind Sonic as he used the Laser Tanks as leverage to leap inside the perimeter of Eggman's his feet hit the ground, he sped towards the entrance. He yelped as he ran to evade the laser fire from the guns. Below the E-12 Behemoth series robot emerged to cut him off.
"Whoa!" Sonic exclaimed as he almost ran into one and then turned left. It chased him down a tunnel and as Sonic stepped on the ground, a spring pad bounced him up into the air. He looked to his right in time for a Behemoth to ball up it's fist and punched him into the sky. Miles "Tails" Prower and Amy Rose watched this from his plane, Tornado 2.
"Sonic!" Tails exclaimed in concern.
He led the plane down to try to catch up to him and the plane got a few hits by the turrets. Amy shrieked from the hits and gasped at the sight of the Tornado on fire.
"Tails, the plane's on fire!" Amy cried out and looked at him worried, "What are we gonna do?!"
"We're gonna rescue Sonic," Tail said in determination and then pulled a lever next to him, "Sonic! Here!"
"Hmm," Sonic opened his eyes and saw a power ring launched his way. He smiled as he caught it, "Thanks Tails!"
Then there was a bright flash of light and Sonic barreled back to the base. He rolled into a ball and went right through the Laser Tanks, destroying them in the process. Then he plowed right through the Behemoths like they were butter. He bounced off one of them and flew into one of the tower lights and entered the base.
Meanwhile Tails was trying to control the plane and then had to prepare for a crash landing.
"Hang on Amy!" Tails cried out to her. 'Come on Tornado. Keep it together.'
The two of them grunted as the Tornado bounced a few times on the ground. Amy's eyes widen in horror at the sight in front of her.
"Tails we're gonna crash into that rock!" Amy cried and covered her face into the seat 'This is it! I'm gonna die!'
"I KNOW!" Tails cried out and leaned back in the seat to brace himself!
Suddenly a spiked fist slammed right into the rock. It shattered completely in time as the plane skidded to a halt. Tails moaned as he rubbed his sore head to see who saved them.
"Knuckles," Tails gasped in amazement.
"Hmm," Knuckles grunted as he shifted his focus elsewhere.
"What's the matter with him?" Amy asked as she saw his sour look.
"Overkill, just like always," Knuckles shook his head at the mess Sonic made of the base 'I had to leave the Master Emerald for this? Why?'
On the outside, Eggman's base went on lock down. All the interior and exterior doors started to close. Then a lavender streak ran past Knuckles, Tails and Amy. It slipped in just as the last door shut down.
"Who was that?" Knuckles looked at the base in shock.
"Maybe that was Sparkle," Tails suggested. 'It certainly looked like her.'
She was a hedgehog just like Sonic, but her quills were lavender color and went all the way down to her tail which flowed down her back like hair. Her eyes were sky blue, she had navy earrings in her ears. She was wearing an ultra blue headband on her head, a blue jacket over a yellow shirt that was tied in the front. Ultra blue gloves covered her arms and she was wearing light blue pants. Her shoes were navy high tops with dark green lightning bolts on the sides. And on her each of her wrists were black bracelets with green gems.
"Yes! Nailed it," Sparkle cheered and then looked around, "Ok, Sonic has to be here somewhere. Where he is, those Chaos Emeralds should be."
Then she started running around and listening for any sign of Sonic and heard a familiar yelling.
"There he is," Sparkle said and raced that way.
"I bet I can grab that button before you even push it," Sonic taunted him and then in a flash the button is his hand.
Just then an E-13 Guardbot appeared and started attacking Sonic. He laughed and then moved to dodge him.
"Don't let him get away!" Eggman demanded of the robot.
"Yikes! Maybe this isn't the best place for me right now," Rouge the bat cringed as a stray laser hit close to her hiding spot, ''I better make myself scarce."
"Stop them no matter what!" Eggman shouted and pointed at the blue blur and then at the lavender blur.
Sparkle chuckled as she rolled up and bounced around to attack the Guard bot as well. Sonic noticed her and then started coordinating attacks with her. He landed right in front of Eggman just as Guardbot turned towards them. He smirked at him and waved at him.
"Whaaa! No! Hold your fire!" Eggman cried out and waved his hands.
Sonic leaped out of the way just as Guardbot began firing. Eggman was forced to duck for cover as the robot fired his way. When the shot ceased, he stood up and then got to the switch.
"Ha! Here we go," Eggman smirked in triumph. 'This is it.'
He then pressed the button to start up the machine. It started up but then started sparking and crackling.
"Whaa?" Eggman looked in confusion and then at the switch.
Sparkle smirked at him and then blew smoke off her hands from frying the machine with her electric attack. She had zapped the machine with her electric spike projection power.
"What have you done?!" Eggman shrieked and then gasped at the state his machine was in.
Everyone looked at the machine as a strange energy began to build inside.
"Oops," Sparkle said as she realized zapping the machine was a mistake. 'Oh this isn't gonna end well.'
Then the light grew bigger and bigger from the machine and then pulsated outward. As it did, it enveloped everything and everyone in it's brightness. Sparkle shielded herself as it passed around her before for a moment she thought she saw it blasted outside and continued to grow. Even Tails, Amy and Knuckles noticed it.
"What...is that?" Amy cried out as she saw it coming closer and closer.
"It used to be Chaos Control!" Knuckles shouted as he shielded his eyes.
The light continued out more and more until it enveloped the three onlookers.

Later Sonic and Sparkle woke up in complete darkness. Sonic groaned as he sat up and rubbed his head.
"Man, I must have passed out or something," Sonic said to himself and then looked to his right to see Sparkle waking up. "Hey, hey, you ok?"
"Yeah, yeah I think so," Sparkle rubbed her head as she sat up.
Then they looked ahead and saw a bright city. Above their heads was a sign that pointed to it that said "Station Square that way, 2 miles."
"Hmm, 2 miles." Sonic chuckled, "That's hardly a walk for me."
"I'm sorry, Sonic. I'm usually more careful than this," Sparkle said as she looked down with a sad face, "I made a promise nothing bad would ever happen again."
"Hey it's ok. Don't sweat it, Sparkle," Sonic assured her, "I'm glad you came when you did. I'm alive and you're alive. And you blew up Eggman's machine so there's some good news."
"Yeah I guess. Speaking of Eggman, where is he?" Sparkle asked him and looked around.
"If we're lucky, far far away. But I say we check out that place," Sonic said as he pointed to Station Square and then smiled at her. "Race ya."
"Oh come on, you don't think I'm gonna-," Sparkle started to say until she saw him run off. Then she crouched down and took off at almost the same speed.
Side by side a blue blue and a lavender blur raced pass side by side. Sonic saw she was gaining on him and picked up the pace. Sparkle smirked and then matched his speed as well.
"I still haven't completely mastered the Sonic Boom yet," Sparkle called out to him as he hung back a bit.
"I'll teach you," Sonic offered her as he ran beside her. "You just got to push yourself."
"Easy for you to say," Sparkle said as she continued on and then skidded to a halt just outside the city.
Sonic stopped next to her as dust settled beside them. Then they looked at each other and started to leisurely walk around the place.
"Do you think we're still on Mobius?" Sparkle asked as she looked at the buildings around them.
"I don't know, but this place doesn't look so bad," Sonic shrugged, "I can't help wondering where Tails and Amy are."
"You think that blast might have just transported us or them too?" Sparkle asked him.
"Maybe. In any case, we better check here first to see if they did land here," Sonic said as they walked around and then saw a car heading for them, "Whoa!"
Sonic yelped as he pulled Sparkle out of the way and then saw another coming from the opposite direction. The two of them managed to dodge the cars as they came before zipping onto the sidewalk.
"Are these humans?" Sparkle asked as she looked around at the crowd now coming out of the buildings, "They're supposed to be superior? They don't run fast, fly or have any powers. This is so confusing."
"They look like humans to me and they don't seem to be used to seeing us," Sonic said as he looked around at the crowd staring at them, "Let's move it."
With that Sonic grabbed her arm and started running past the people. They all cried out as the wind blew past them. Sparkle ran next to him at the same speed until they reached the top of a hill overlooking the city. As they pant, they took the moment to sit down to catch their breaths. Sparkle smiled at the view of the city with Sonic. He, in turn, marveled at the city and how all the lights looked like stars.
"This is quite the view," Sparkle said to him and then nudged, "When we find Amy, you should bring her here."
"What?" Sonic asked her in surprise.
"I was kidding," Sparkle said and chuckled as she nudged him, "Don't tell her I said that."
"Help! Someone help me!" A voice cried out from the city below.
"I know that voice," Sonic said and then quickly took off towards the voice.
"Was that...Cream?" Sparkle asked in concern as she followed him, "She's here?! "
"Yeah it sounded like it to me. And if she's here, I know for a fact the others have to be here too," Sonic said as he sped up faster.
As they got closer, two police men had Cream and Cheese into a police car. She whimpered as they were closing the doors on them. Then Sonic ran around the police officer and created a whirlwind that blew him away. Sparkle opened the door and then pulled Cream and Cheese out of the car.
"Sonic! Sparkle you're here," Cream smiled at them.
"Chao chao," Cheese cheerily said and clapped his hands.
"Are you two ok?" Sparkle asked and looked her over.
"Yes, we're fine now," Cream said as she held Cheese in her arms, "We're so glad to see you both!"
"Good to see you too. Now let's move," Sonic said as more officers came to assist the one on the ground.
Then Sonic picked up Cream and Cheese in his arms before running away. Leaving the officers puzzled at what just happened.
"We should find a place to stay," Sparkle said as she ran alongside him, " So we don't draw anymore attention to ourselves right now.
"Yes, but where?" Cream asked her.
Sonic ran around the city, zipping in and out of buildings to see if any were empty. Sparkle searched in the opposite direction before coming across an abandoned warehouse. She ran around it to make sure no homeless people were camped out in it and smiled when she found it empty.
"Sonic," Sparkle called out as she ran out to meet back up with him, "I found something. Come on."
Sonic quickly followed her and looked it over. The inside of the building was vast but was covered in cobwebs and dust. Little Cheese coughed as he flew right into one. Cream held him and wiped off his face. The shadows from the pillars made the inside of it to be dark and a couple of the windows were broken while the others were filthy with dirt and grime. A big staircase led to the second level with rooms there.
"Well, it's not much, but..," Sparkle said as she waved some of the dust out of her face.
"All it needs is some fixing up," Sonic said as he looked around. "And a few beds and a major cleaning up."
"We could help clean it up," Cream said as she looked around, "And it's big enough for even Tails' plane to be in here."
"Sonic, if Cream and Cheese are here," Sparkle said to him as she thought what Cream just said, "Maybe the others are here too."
"That sounds about right to me," Sonic said as he looked at a grungy window, " And at least we know that no one will think to look for us here."
"We'll have to find them," Sparkle said to him and then looked at Cream and Cheese, "But we don't want to leave you here alone."
"I could go with you Sparkle if you want," Cream suggested, "We could look for Amy and Sonic could look for Tails and even Knuckles. Maybe he got transported here too."
"I hope he's alright," Sparkle said as she walked outside and thought about how handsome he looked when he stood there looking all serious.
"Oh I'm sure he's fine," Sonic said as he followed her outside, "You know that Knuckles is a survivor."
"Sonic, I'm pretty sure Knuckles is going to blame you for this," Sparkle winced as she tapped her thumbs together. "If you find him, tell him it's my fault."
"Are you sure?" Sonic asked her and shrugged, "Ok. But I hope he doesn't get too mad at ya. See ya."
Then in a flash Sonic was gone. Cream waved him off and then turned to Sparkle.
"Remember Cream, if you're in danger, I'm bringing you right back here," Sparkle warned her.
"Ok," Cream agreed with her.
"Chao Chao," Cheese squealed and floated by her.
"I'm ready," Cream said as she flapped her ears to fly up. As they searched, Sparkle stopped.
"Hey do you hear that?" She asked Cream as she put her ear to the street. "I think I hear Amy down there."
"Knuckles wait up," Amy said as she followed him, "I think we should go up to look for Sonic."
"You can look if you want. I'm going to find a way to go home. This is all his fault," Knuckles frowned as he walked through the mucky water and sludge, "He always does things like this.
"Hey, now just a second, you can't blame all this on him!" Amy shouted at him and got in front of him, "It's Eggman's fault."
"Sonic is the one that broke in and activated Chaos Control and got us stuck here," Knuckles scowled at her and then moved past her to walk ahead.
"I knew he was gonna blame Sonic for this," Sparkle said to Cream in annoyance, "I can't let him take the blame for this."
Sparkle found a manhole and dived in, in front of Knuckles and Amy. Cream gasped as she looked down to see them.
"Sparkle?" Amy asked in surprise.
"Sonic isn't to blame for this, Knuckles," Sparkle said and then sighed, "I am."
"You?" Knuckles asked and put his fist on his hips, "What did you do?"
"I'm the one who broke the machine and activated Chaos Control. So if you want to torture me or hurt me, I'll deal with that," Sparkle said and had a determined look in her eyes. Then she closed her eyes as she saw Knuckles balling up his fists.
"Do you know what my job is Sparkle?" Knuckles quietly asked and then frowned at her, "My job is to guard the Master Emerald. If I'm here, I can't do my job!"
"You think I don't know that?" Sparkle asked him. "I've been watching you sometimes."
"What do you mean you've been watching me?" Knuckles arched his eyebrow, "Why?"
Amy covered her mouth in surprise at Sparkle's confession. Then she rolled her eyes at Knuckles reaction to it.
"Oh isn't it obvious?" she exasperatedly asked him and shook her head, "She looks up to you for inspiration and she likes you!"
"Maybe you could train her, Knuckles," Cream said from above, "After all, you're one of the best fighters on Mobius and one of the strongest."
"...I'll think about it," Knuckles said as he crossed his arms and frowned at her, "And I'm still angry at you for stranding us here. Since you and Sonic caused Chaos Control to happen, you're gonna to make it happen again."
"I know and I promise to help find the emeralds and fix this," Sparkle said to him.
"See Knuckles? That means you don't need to be mad at Sonic or Sparkle anymore," Amy said to him with a smirk.
"Hmm I suppose, " Knuckles looks to the side and then back at Sparkle, "You really mean that about getting stronger?"
"Damn right I am," Sparkle said and put her hands on her hips, "What kind of girl do you think I am? I will work hard."
"I guess we'll find out when you start training," Knuckles said and then hauled himself out of the hole, "Come on!"
"Oh finally," Amy said and then climbed the ladder up. "My shoes are ruined and it stinks in there."
"Hi Amy," Cream said to her as she helped her up and then offered Sparkle her hand.
"I assume you found a place to stay," Knuckles asked Sparkle as she climbed out of the hole.
"Yes we did," Sparkle said to him to try to fix things between them, "And there's plenty of room for all of us and to have privacy."
"It's a nice place once we fix it up a bit," Cream said and then turned to Amy, "We could fix it up together."
"Ok I would like that," Amy said to her. "Where is this place?"
"It's this way," Sparkle said and started walking that way and looked back at Knuckles, "You coming?"
"Alright," Knuckles said and then started running with her. Knuckles looked at her and felt his face slightly getting as red as his quills. But he shook that off and faced forward.
As Amy and Cream cleaned up the warehouse, Sonic came in with Tails. Amy gasped in delight and then ran and hugged Sonic tightly.
"Oh Amy," Sonic groaned and tried to pull her away from him.
"Sonic, I knew we would find you," Amy said and hung onto him, " I knew it!"
"Sparkle, it's good to see you," Tails said to her and looked around at the place. "This place is great!"
"And we're getting it all clean so we can live here," Cream said as she wiped off the windows.
"Chao chao," Cheese responded and quickly dusted around the place.
Then Sonic ran around the room with a bucket and rags. In a matter of seconds, the debris was all cleared and the whole place was cleaned. Everyone smiled at the sight of the now clean warehouse. Even Knuckles was slightly impressed at the sight of the place.
"Oh thanks for helping, Sonic. This looks great," Amy said as she looked around.
Tails opened the doors and started to move the Tornado 2 in the corner of the warehouse.
"This would be a great spot for a workshop," Tails said as he set up his workshop.
"Amy and I will go upstairs and decorate our bedrooms," Cream said as she walked up the stairs.
"Sparkle, come on," Knuckles said and gestured for her to follow him. Sparkle felt her heart beating faster as she watched him walking in front of her. She couldn't deny that his strong arms, stature made her heart skip a beat and her face turned almost as red as him. She smiled as she walked side by side with him outside to some grassy hills by the building.
