Hercule Poirot is summoned to an old castle on the Scottish moors to investigate a murder that has yet to occur. Meanwhile, Miss Jane Marple is invited out to Scotland to visit a young woman of her acquaintance, recently married to a clergyman patronized by the lady of the castle. When everyone meets at the castle for dinner, tensions mount with deadly consequences.
