Hey everyone. Sorry for taking longer to update this, I have been struggling with allergies (it's new for me and pretty exhausting). Couldn't sleep well at night which means I was in a constant daze during the day and couldn't focus on anything. But now I'm better and back to writing.
It was Friday night, the streets began to be more deserted, only some cars passing by interrupted the silence. Two men were gathered by an allay. The taller one with a blindfold spoke to the other.
"Are you sure the guy knows what to do?"
The other man with light brown hair with a neat suit replied to him.
"Yes, I have made sure he knows. I don't know why you're so concerned. Is it because you think Yuna could get hurt?"
The first one began laughing.
"I'm not concerned. Even if Yuna doesn't use curse energy, I think she can defend herself. I mean for her to walk home alone almost every night, she must know how to defend herself. Either way, I'm going to enjoy the show especially when you go play the knight in shining armor."
"So you are convinced she isn't a curse user?"
"If she's a curse user then she must have perfect control over her cursed energy. It is a possibility, I mean, I met someone with no cursed energy at all, so everything is possible."
"Well, let's just try this. If she uses cursed energy to attack then, we'll know for sure."
(Y/N) was finally done with her Friday night shift. She said goodbye to Sarah before making her way home. She was occupied with her thoughts, thinking how much longer Satoru would be gone. They would talk through messages from time to time, but nothing more. Then she heard some steps behind her.
"You shouldn't walk alone at this hour, you know? It could be dangerous."
(Y/N) quickly evaluated the man. He looked shady. She didn't remember him to be a customer at the bar. Where did he come from? Had he been waiting for her?
"I'm fine, don't worry."
She didn't stop and continued her way. The man soon caught up to her and gripped her wrist.
"Stop that, let me go!" She tried getting her arm free, but the man didn't let go. He wrapped both arms around her, whispering in her ear.
"Don't think so. You just smell so good."
As he breathed the scent of her shampoo in, she stepped on his food making his grip on her loosen, so she used her elbow to hit his stomach. She didn't use her curse energy because in the adrenaline rush she could easily use too much and kill the man.
The man was now in pain and (Y/N) didn't hesitate to run away. As she turned around the corner, she almost ran into a man in a suit, Nanami.
"Oh, careful. Yuna-san, is everything alright?"
She wasn't scared, but she wanted to get away from that man. And then, it dawned on her. This was probably a setup. Good thing she hadn't used her curse energy. She was about to say something when the man from before reached them. Nanami's face got even sterner if it was possible. He was acting as if only now he understood the situation Yuna was in. With an arm he pushed the girl behind him, standing tall and defensive in front of her.
"What is the meaning of this? I hope you weren't harassing my friend?" His voice was calm and clear but threatening.
"No, no, I was just..."
The man never finished his sentence, preferring to run away.
With concern on his face, Nanami turned to (Y/N).
"Are you alright? Did the man hurt you?"
"No, I'm fine. Thank you, ahm."
She remembered his name but preferred to act as if she had forgotten because she had only seen him once and that was some time ago.
"Nanami" he offered.
"Right, Satoru's friend."
"Yes. Can I walk you home?"
"Thank you very much, but you don't have to. I'll be fine."
"I'm sure you will, but I would feel better."
"Well, then I'm happy about your company."
They began to walk side by side.
"Does this happen often, you being harassed?"
"Hum, sometimes. It was the first time since I'm here in Tokyo, though. But I can defend myself, I have taken self-defense classes."
She smiled at the man to assure him of her confidence.
"I see." Some steps further he added.
"I have noticed you referred to Gojo by his first name? I didn't know you were getting closer..."
She looked at him. 'Is that a smile on his lips?' A bit shy she said:
"We have been out, and that's when he said I could use his first name."
"Out? You mean on a date?"
He looked at her. His facial expression was still stern but slightly softer. 'Why is he so interested in my relationship with Satoru? Is he so suspicious of me or is there something else?' His intense gaze made her blush slightly when answering.
"Yes, we went on a date, but I haven't seen him since then..."
Kento didn't know about that. Was that Gojo's tactic to get to know her better? He didn't like it. It wasn't right to play with someone's feelings.
"I see..."
(Y/N) looked up to the man. He seemed to be lost in thoughts. He wasn't jealous, she didn't think she was his type, so what was it?
"You aren't jealous, right?" She said teasingly.
"Hum, no. It's just... Gojo isn't the type of man to be dating. So I was ... surprised."
"How sweet, you worry about me? You really don't have to. I already noted that about Satoru. But then, I'm not a good girl either, you know?"
She said that purposely suggestively to see if she would have some reaction out of that severe man. By his chuckling, it seemed she was successful.
'Are they both playing the same game maybe? How far are they willing to take this?'
"Then maybe I should be worrying about Gojo instead? You seem to be like him."
They finally reached (Y/N)'s home.
"If we are alike, then both of us should be fine. No reason to worry. Thank you for bringing me home. Good night Nanami-san."
"Good night Yuna-san."
Satoru had been back since Wednesday and began to follow Yuna the day after. He was so frustrated that his students weren't able to follow her that he decided he would take matters into his own hands. Since the bartender slept in, that gave him time for classes in the morning, and afterward, he would follow her around. At night, Shoko would take over. He had been surprised when Nanami showed up to tell him he wanted to help out, but that wasn't so surprising after the ex-salaryman explained he would do this only if Satoru would promise not to bother him in the next couple of weeks. It looked like a real businessman wouldn't do anything for free.
It looked like Yuna had stopped with her usual jogging routine. She would sometimes still go jogging but choose another root. That Saturday it seemed she had decided to do some Yoga class instead. Satoru wasn't complaining. It was more pleasant to sit in a coffee shop and watch her than running behind her. Since he had been back, she hasn't done anything suspicious yet and that was frustrating. He wasn't a patient person and her secrets were driving him crazy. And those yoga pants weren't helping... He decided to look at his phone until she was finished working out.
...
It was almost night now, and Yuna went to work. Satoru teleported himself into her apartment. He had earlier seen her put the password into the laptop and decided now would be the best time to look through her emails. As he found himself in her apartment, the memories of the night he spent there came to his mind. The feeling of being used was still unsettling, but he had made peace with it. It was just a reminder he needed to be more careful with Yuna. She knew how to manipulate someone.
The laptop was on, and Satoru opened up the emails. There were a lot. It would take some time to look through all of them. He decided it would be best to copy her hard drive, so he could go through everything she had on her computer, not only the emails. This would take some time, but he had enough of doing a sloppy job. It was time to find out who Yuna really was.
