Hey everyone, sorry for the long wait. It's been a while since I got so absorbed while reading something. I'm not even finished yet, but I began to miss writing. I can't say when I'm going to update next, but for now, here is a new chapter. I would say it's a bittersweet one. Hope you enjoy it.
(y/n) was waking up by a light sound of water hitting her windows. She looked outside and saw the different grayscales of the clouds while the water was pouring mercilessly down to the streets.
She then made a decision. She turned around in bed, her covers over her head, and stayed like this while hearing the rain outside. It was a soothing sound and soon she drifted into sleep again.
Sometime later she was running through the wet streets with her raincoat. She was late for her training with Gojo. It wasn't something important, but she hated being late.
Satoru's doorbell rang and he didn't need to look who it was before open up. A completely soaked-up young woman was standing at his door.
"I hate rain." She complained while entering his apartment.
Satoru couldn't hold back and began to laugh. She was just too adorable with her hoody glued to her face and her rosy cheeks while grumbling.
She took off her backpack and the raincoat while looking unamused at the laughing man.
"Are you laughing at me? Do you find it funny to be soaked in rain?"
She began to shake her coat, the rainwater splashing everywhere. Satoru soon made her stop by wrapping his arms around her and kissing her cheek.
"Sorry I wasn't making fun of you. You are just too adorable."
That made her stop. A strange feeling was felt in her stomach, but she tried to ignore it and freed herself from his embrace.
"I brought some clothes to change today if it's alright for you if I shower here."
A warm smile spread on the man's lips. 'Looks like the rain helped her to be less stubborn.'
As always they began to train right away, but soon (Y/N) noticed that Satoru was different. His hands lingered longer on her body than what they should while during a fight. While she tried to kick his side he held her leg, his big hands sliding over her bare skin. Then, on another attack, he turned her around holding one of her arms behind her back while his lips almost brushed her neck.
The tension between them increased as the fight went on, but (Y/N) didn't want that for today. She had something else planned for later. But Satoru didn't stop with the light teasing and soon the woman found herself pinned down on the ground, her hands held firmly in place by him. She had no were to escape as his face came closer to hers.
Satoru looked over his glasses into her eyes and she could see how they looked greedy for her. She didn't know how frustrated he was because of the 'meeting' he had last night. He blamed her for that so he played with her.
No words were exchanged as he traced her neck with his lips, the saltiness on her skin didn't bother him. He felt her relax into the ground and was sure that she finally understood what he wanted, so he kissed her lips. He let go of her hands to move his own over her body. He felt how her hands explored his body too but then she stopped. In a whisper he heard her say:
"Satoru, stop." It was hard for her to say these words, but she needed to keep a clear head, and with Satoru acting like that it was impossible.
He would be lying if he said he wasn't disappointed by hearing her words, but he would never do something she didn't want. He let her go and sat on the ground next to her. He looked at her while she avoided his gaze as if she was shy. He didn't understand why she was acting like that. 'Women. That's why I don't want to have a relationship. They are too much trouble.'
She gave him an apologetic smile before asking. "Can I use your shower then?"
"Yeah, sure."
Satoru saw her grab her backpack and go to the bathroom. He kept staring at the closed door trying to release his frustration. He knew exactly why he was like that. Last night he had an awkward encounter and he blamed Yuna for it.
***Flashback***
Satoru entered the restaurant and checked himself in the mirror. This wasn't a real date for him but still, he wanted to look good as always. He went up to the bar while looking out for the man Shoko had described. How was his name again? Kaneko, I think.'
Shoko told him that Kaneko was the third child of a wealthy businessman. His older brother would inherit most of the company and his sister was married to a son of a friend of their father. Kaneko, as the youngest, had more freedom to choose his own life. He had an interest in computers from a young age, so his father supported this hobby that later turned into his job.
Satoru wasn't sure how Ieiri knew so much about this man, but it didn't matter. The important thing would be if he could open that encrypted file that was on Yuna's computer.
Soon, a good looking man approached Satoru. The man was maybe in his late thirties. If Gojo had to describe him, the first thing that came to his mind was 'Sugar Daddy'. The sorcerer didn't know what he expected, but surely it wasn't a well built guy.
"You're Gojo-san, I presume?"
"Yes, and you must be Kaneko-san."
They shook hands and made some small talk over some drinks. Well, Satoru preferred not to drink alcohol that night... The conversation continued during dinner and Gojo soon forgot that this was supposed to be a date. The man was charismatic and made him feel comfortable.
After the main dish, the conversation finally turned to business.
"So, Ieiri told me you want to decrypt some date? Do you have it with you?"
"Yes, here." A small flash drive switched hands. Satoru was curious. "How long will it take for you to decrypt it?"
"Well, it depends. With standard encryption, it can take up to a month. Since the program tries out every possible key combination, luck plays a role. But with a stronger encryption the key has more characters and therefore more possible combinations, so the time to find the correct one can be exponentially longer."
"What? That long?"
"Well, I don't have a supercomputer and I need mine for work during the day, so the program for decryption will only be running during the night and that makes it take longer. But I explained it already to Ieiri. Did she not tell you?"
'Ieiri... Of course, she didn't tell me. If I knew this would take so long I would try to look for another way.'
"Maybe she has forgotten to mention it."
Kaneko gave him a warm smile. Then, the dessert finally arrived. Satoru was relieved that this dinner finally came to an end. But before that, it seemed the sorcerer had to go through an unpleasant experience. The older man put a hand over one of his before asking:
"This was a nice dinner Gojo-san. You are a very interesting man, and good-looking too. Can I somehow convince you to extend this night?"
Satoru was definitely not interested in men, so this suggestion made him very uneasy. But still, he kept his voice polite.
"Sorry to disappoint you Kaneko-san, but I'm not interested. I can't say that I didn't enjoy your company, but I'm straight."
"I see." The man tried to hide but there was still a hint of disappointment in his voice. For distraction he made a question. "Is there maybe a woman in your life?"
"There are some." A mischievous smile spread on Satoru's face.
Kaneko's laughter boomed. "I see you're a free spirit like me. I think that's why we got along so well."
The date ended shortly after and Satoru had mixed feelings. 'Now I can only hope it won't take that long for the decryption.' He quickly took out his phone and searched for his friend's number. He had some things to say to Shoko.
***End of flashback***
That morning he got a phone call from Kaneko. He had bad news. It seemed the encryption on the folder wasn't standard, so it would take longer than expected. That news was the main reason for his frustration.
Meanwhile (Y/N) was finished with her shower and exited the bathroom. She had removed her makeup and let her wet hair fall freely. She remembered the effect that her markings on her face had on Satoru the first time he had noticed them. She also hoped that Shoko had already talked to him about their conversation the previous night at the bar. 'Maybe that's the reason he is so pushy today...'
She found Satoru sitting on the couch while watching TV. Sitting cross-legged on the couch facing him she said:
"Can we talk for a bit?"
'Nothing good comes after those words have been said.' Thought Satoru. Nevertheless, he turned off the TV and turned around to face her. Calmly he waited for her to gather her thoughts.
"I was wondering... What are we Satoru?"
He was confused with her words and she noticed it. Quickly she added.
"What I want to know is... How can I say this..."
She struggled to find the right words. She didn't want to scare the man off. Heck if someone would ask her if they had a serious relationship she would run away from the guy right away. She believed Satoru was similar to her in that matter. But she needed to do this so they would evolve and he would eventually fall for her.
"I'm not asking if we are in a relationship or anything like that. I'm okay to only hang out with you from time to time and have a good time. What I need to know is, do you consider that we are a thing? And if so, are we exclusive?"
Now he understood. Shoko's words from last night came to his mind.
"Gojo, I hope you know what you are doing with Yuna. I think she is really beginning to fall for you. She seems to be a nice girl. I would resent you if you hurt her."
He didn't want to hurt her either, but he didn't know another way for her to tell him why she came after him. He looked her in the eyes. She seemed so sincere, making him doubt if she really was acting. Somehow he wasn't so terrified by her words than what he usually would be if another woman would ask him this. Was it because he wanted her to fall for him?
She was playing with her fingers, her nerves were obvious on edge. He reached out to her and held her hands.
"Yuna, I'm really enjoying getting to know you. If you ask me, I would say we are a thing and I would like to be exclusive with you." The words came easier out than what he had expected.
Her smile was enough to tell him she was relieved. Then an idea crossed his mind. What if this was a plan for her so he would get closer to her? She practically didn't give him an option. If he would say no to her, then everything would end between them and he would never know the real reason why she had gone after him. So this was the perfect timing for him to get something out of her.
"Why don't we get to know each other better?"
(Y/N) was surprised with his question.
"Sure. What do you want to ask?"
He couldn't ask what he really wanted to know yet, so he started with something simpler.
"You never told me where your home is."
'Shit. What can I say to him? I can tell the truth. What if he remembers his mission there and remembers to have met me? But I can't be that vague as the first time he asked. I need to give him something.'
"I don't like to talk about my homeland. I only have bad memories from there."
He could see the pain in her eyes and didn't believe she was acting.
"So you began to travel to flee from your problems?"
"Well, partially."
Satoru was curious. She could have simply said yes, but she made an opening for him to ask further.
"What is the other reason then?" He was really curious. Finally, she opened up to him a little.
"I was searching for a reason to get stronger."
"Stronger? How so?" 'Why would she want to get stronger? Is she really being blackmailed by someone and wants to get stronger so she can free herself from that person?'
"I wanted to stand on my own feet, without depending on someone." Of course, she couldn't say the whole truth yet...
"Don't you miss your family, your parents?" Sadness filled her face, but for a split second, there was rage too. If it wasn't for his six eyes, Satoru would have missed it.
"They died when I was still in high school."
"I'm sorry to hear that."
Silence fell between them. Her expression told him that her wounds weren't healed yet. So he wouldn't push her with more questions for today.
"Come here, you should rest before going to work."
He put her head on his lap and turned on the TV. He caressed her wet hair while some tears fell on his pants. He didn't mind it. He was content with what had happened today between them. Yuna was very different from what he initially had thought. She seemed a careless person, always smiling and teasing, but he now understood it was only to camouflage her pain and sorrows. He had only begun to scratch the surface, but he was sure her pain was so much deeper.
Just a quick note. I don't have the slightest idea if what I wrote about encryption is true or not. I have read something about it many years ago, but I don't know if I remember it correctly...
