Rebekah looked at the time in annoyance. The moon had been full for a little while now, and there was no word from her brothers. Well, she wasn't dead yet. She supposed she could consider that a good sign. Still, she was annoyed that she was left as a designated babysitter for the doppelganger.

Rebekah looked over at Elena, who had fallen asleep in a chair. She never liked Elena. She had legitimate reasons, at least that was what she told herself. First, it was because of Stefan's interest in her. Then it was because Elena daggered her. However, the truth was, Elena unnerved her. She felt a pull towards the girl that she couldn't understand. Perhaps it was her doppelganger lineage. Elena came from the same family line as a boy she'd taken an interest in when she was human, which meant she also came from the same line as the child she'd lost. All she knew was that it all unsettled her.

Soon, Rebekah heard the front door open and close. "Finally."

"No, Niklaus. I will not allow this to go on any longer," Rebekah heard Elijah say as they got closer to the living room.

"I'm just saying let me witch proof the house before you deliver life altering information. I'd prefer not to see my house in shambles," Klaus said.

Elena soon opened her eyes upon hearing voices. "Are they back?"

"It seems so," Rebekah said. She stood up just in time for her siblings to enter the room. Finn was with them now as well. One look at Elijah, and she knew that things had not gone well. She'd seen that look on her brother's face only a few times, and even that was too much. He was bloody pissed and trying to contain it.

Elijah looked at his sister, which only caused his rage to intensify. He wasn't angry at her, of course. He was angry for her. He was angry for Elena. He was angry about what was taken from both of them and their family.

"Elijah, is everything okay? Did you stop your mom?" Elena asked before standing up.

"Yes, we stopped her, but the damage she's already done is worse than I thought," Elijah said.

"Are you talking about me?" Elena asked.

"In a sense, yes," he said.

"She did do something to me, didn't she?" Elena asked. If that were the case, she'd almost be relieved. That meant it could be undone and she could get back to her crazy life as it was before.

"Yes, but she didn't give you your magic. She merely released it. You should sit down. Both of you should," Elijah said as he looked between Elena and Rebekah.

"Is Mother dead?" Rebekah asked as she remained standing.

"No," Elijah said.

Rebekah let out a sigh of relief. Despite everything, she didn't want her mother dead.

"I'd hold off on the relief, sister. You probably won't feel that way for long," Kol said.

"Please sit," Elijah said as he motioned towards the couch.

Rebekah sighed before going over and sitting down.

Elena sat down next to Rebekah.

Elijah sat down on top of the coffee table in front of his sister and niece. He was quiet for a minute. He didn't even know how to find the words to tell them the truth. It was going to be shocking and upsetting to both of them. Elena would undoubtedly lose control of her magic. "Elena, the things I'm about to tell you are going to be very upsetting. I won't even ask you to remain calm because I know you won't be able to."

"Okay, that's scaring me a little," Elena said nervously.

Elijah wished he could tell her she didn't have to worry, but he couldn't. What he had to say would be very traumatizing for her and Rebekah. A part of him wanted to tell Rebekah first privately so that she could process it enough to help her daughter, but doing that would only make Elena's trepidation worse. Unfortunately, this was the way it had to happen. "Elena, my mother lied to you. She never intended to kill us."

"She didn't?" Rebekah asked in a hopeful tone.

"No, but what she was planning was worse, as was the things she's already done," he said.

"If she didn't want you dead, why did she need my blood," Elena asked.

"She used it to link us and to link you to us. The spell she tried to do tonight was to transfer the leftover witch magic in our bodies into you. She wanted to make you more powerful than you already are," Elijah explained.

Elena gave Elijah a dumbfounded look. She didn't even think it was possible to make her more powerful. "More powerful? I almost set your brother on fire without even trying. How do I get more powerful than that?

"Why would she do that? Wouldn't that just overwhelm Elena until it killed her?" Rebekah asked. She failed to see the point. The use of too much magic could kill a witch. The kind of magic Elijah was taking about would definitely kill any witch, even one as powerful as Elena clearly was.

"That's why she linked Elena to us. She shares our indestructability for the time being," Elijah said.

"I…I'm immortal?" Elena asked.

"It would seem so for the moment. Just know that we did not and will not allow her to do that to you. Abby Bennett refused to participate when she found out as well. That spell will not happen," Elijah promised her.

"Alright, this is definitely disconcerting, and I'm glad you stopped her, but it's far from traumatizing. I've been used in worse ways," Elena said before glaring over at Klaus.

"I'm afraid that I've only begun to tell you the things you need to know," Elijah said.

"Why would Mother even do this? What was the point?" Rebekah asked for the second time.

"She wanted Elena to kill a seemingly unstoppable witch," Finn told her before turning to Elijah. "Allow me to take over for a moment, Elijah."

"I thought you didn't know anything about this," Klaus said as he narrowed his eyes at his oldest brother.

"I didn't know what Mother did, and I certainly don't condone it, but I do know why she did it. It happened before any of you were born, and Mother made me swear never to tell anyone," Finn said. He'd always intended to keep that promise, but Rebekah and Elena needed to know. Elena's life depended on it. Besides, his mother had to know it would come out if her spell had worked.

"What are you talking about?" Rebekah asked. She frankly didn't know what any of them were talking about, and it was getting quite irritating. She did not like not being in the loop.

"Mother could not have children the natural way. She had to use magic to conceive," Finn said.

"Damn. Magic can apparently do anything," Elena said.

"Yes," Kol said in a wistful tone.

"She wasn't able to do it herself though. She wasn't strong enough then," Finn continued. "She went to her sister for help, and her sister agreed, but there was a price."

"Hold on. The witch Mother wants to kill is her sister?" Kol asked surprised. He never even knew his mother had a sister. The fact that she hated her enough to want her dead might have something to do with that though.

"That woman is awful. I only met her once, and it was the most traumatizing thing to ever happen to me, and I include becoming a vampire in that. Dahlia required a steep price for her help. She wanted Mother's firstborn child," Finn told them.

Everyone was silent for a few moments, no one knowing what to say. Elena was the first to recover from the shock. "I know it's probably naïve of me to even ask this, but your mom said no, right? She found another way?"

Finn shook his head. "She agreed to Dahlia's deal. Years later, Dahlia came to collect. She took our sister, Freya."

"What? But she said our sister died of the plague," Rebekah said.

"She lied," he said.

"The first of many, it seems," Klaus said.

"She sold her own child?" Elena asked in horror. She couldn't believe this. She knew that there were despicable parents out there. She was even sure that Esther was one of them, but she could never imagine a parent doing something like this.

"I… Yes," Finn said after trailing off for a second. He'd had the urge to defend his mother, but how could he do that with the young girl his mother had condemned with her deal? Elena was taken from her mother because of what his mother had done. She still faced danger from Dahlia because of it. He couldn't defend her to his niece. "It's more complicated than that though. Dahlia seeks power, and the firstborn witches in this family have a lot of it. Freya was exceptionally powerful, even at the age of five, and the firstborn only grow in power after each generation. That is why Dahlia wanted every firstborn child."

"What?" Rebekah asked with an edge to her voice. This had just stopped being about merely losing a sister because of what her mother did. The fact that it was all firstborn children made it much more personal than that, as she had once been the mother of a firstborn Mikaelson witch. "Every firstborn. What you're saying is that this bitch would've come for any firstborn child we had."

"The firstborn of the generation, but as I know what you're asking me, the answer is yes. She was coming," Finn told her.

"Rebekah, mother told us some things tonight," Elijah started.

"Stop!" Rebekah yelled before she got up and started pacing. She wasn't ready to hear what her brother had to say. No matter what it was, it was going to alter her life. She needed a minute to mentally prepare herself to hear what he had to say.

"What's going on? I don't understand," Elena said. Rebekah was seriously upset. True, finding out your sister was sold would upset anyone, but it seemed like more than that. Plus, what she gathered from Finn and Rebekah, there was another child that this witch might have wanted. Had one of the Originals had a child? That was what it sounded like.

"Rebekah," Elijah called out gently. He wanted to answer Elena's questions, but he also needed to make sure his sister was alright before he continued.

"Shut up! I need to think," Rebekah said before taking several deep breaths. So many thoughts and questions were going though her head right now, all of them pertaining to the child she'd lost. Her mother had told her that her baby died not long after she'd given birth. Could she have lied about that just as she'd lied about Freya? Did Rebekah dare hope for that. That hope terrified her more than anything. Either way, she had to know. "Alright, tell me, Elijah."

"You should sit back down," Elijah said.

"No! Just tell me. Did my daughter die that night?" Rebekah asked.

Elena gaped in shock. Rebekah had a child? Rebekah was same age Elena was now when she was turned. That would've made her a kid when she became a mother. She supposed that wasn't as big a deal then as it was now though. It was a different time. She felt bad for Rebekah. No one deserved to lose a child.

"No," Elijah said softly. "I'm so sorry, Rebekah. This never should've happened.

Rebekah let out a strangled sob. Tears began to stream down her face. She loved her child so much. She'd grieved for more than a thousand years. That pain had never gone away. There were many days where she'd wished for death because of it. All that time, and her daughter had been alive, at least for part of it. "That woman took my baby."

"No, Rebekah. Dahlia didn't take your child. Mother did. She hid the child so that Dahlia couldn't her hands on her," Finn explained.

"Mother told me my child was dead. She stole my baby?" Rebekah asked, her voice laced with the betrayal she felt. Her own mother had caused the pain she'd felt. She'd held her as she grieved. She pretended to emphasize her.

"Yes," Elijah told her.

Kol pulled his sister into his arms and held her as she cried. He wasn't typically the comforting type, but his sister was going through something that no one should ever have to, and it wasn't over.

"I'm really sorry, Rebekah," Elena said. She didn't know what else to say. Honestly, she felt really out of place. This was a family moment. She shouldn't be a part of it. "Um, I think I should leave the room or something."

"No, love. You're right where you need to be," Klaus said.

Rebekah cried for a few minutes and then managed to pull herself together. "What happened to my child?"

Elijah stood up and turned to his sister. "Mother took her to Ayana, who designed a spell that would bring the child to one of her descendants?"

"Descendants? That sounds like a time travel situation?" Rebekah said.

"Yes. That is how she hid the child. She sent her forward in time. I am not certain of the details, but the child was discovered by Abby Bennett eighteen years ago," Elijah told her.

"Eighteen years ago? That means she could be alive! Is she alive?" Rebekah asked in a desperate tone.

Elijah nodded.

"You're not talking about Bonnie, are you?" Elena asked in shock. She didn't think they could be, but she wanted to be sure. Elijah had said that Bonnie's mother had found Rebekah's child.

"No, it isn't Bonnie," Elijah said before going over and take a seat next to Elena. "As I said, I don't know the details, but the baby was given to a couple. It's worth mentioning that the baby was a Petrova on her father's side, and she was a doppelganger."

Rebekah's eyes widened as she realized what her brother was telling them. She'd always felt a connection to Elena. She couldn't explain it, but she'd felt something the first time she'd laid eyes on her. She knew why now. It was her. Elena was her daughter. "Oh my God."

Elena's limbs began to shake as realization hit her. All hell soon broke loose as everything in sight either exploded or began to crash to floor. It was her Elijah was talking about. She was supposedly Rebekah's daughter.
