Hello to all! I know you just want to get into the story so feel free to skip this and come back when you are finished with the chapter.

I have loved this universe for many years. I watch the movies at least once a year and I've read/ listened to the books probably a half a dozen times, if not more. This is universe is my happy place, and it has inspired me with many stories. The story bellow is one of my larger works and I look forward to taking this journey with anyone who wishes to read my story. I am very much looking forward to the TV show! It would be a dream come true to work on that show but they probably don't need anyone else involved in that creative endeavor so I figured I would finally post this story I have been planning out for the better part of a year. I hope you like it! I do not own or lay claim to any of the official Harry Potter universe, nor do I profit from this. I'm simply a fan inspired to tell a story. This will mostly follow the books as opposed to the movies though I may use a few movie items in the story depending on how it writes.

Chapter 1

Harry and Violet Potter grew up as normal as possible. Well as normal as possible for twins who had lost their parents at one year old in a car crash only to be raised by their aunt and uncle alongside their spoiled cousin could be. Harry and Violet, however, were anything but spoiled. They got Dudley's hand me downs, ate what Dudley didn't want or couldn't manage to force in his mouth which wasn't much, and they never got to do anything fun other than the one time they recently got to go to the zoo but that turned into a disaster that got them grounded for no reason.

However, their lives were about to change in ways they could never imagine. The Dursley's having been hounded by mysterious envelopes being mass delivered to Harry and Violet found themselves on a small island in a little run-down shack of a house with the Dursleys. Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia had long ago retired to the only room in the shack to sleep while Dudley had taken the couch to quickly fall asleep still complaining about being hungry as he drifted off.

Violet and Harry had taken up a spot on the floor near the couch. They stuck near each other for warmth and Violet fell asleep quickly while Harry stared up at the ceiling for hours sleep out of his grasp.

Eventually he found himself watching the watch on Dudley's wrist. As the clock ticked near midnight, he shook Violet awake and pointed at the watch. "It's almost midnight. We're about to be eleven!" he whispered excitedly.

Violet grinned sleepily as she saw the time. "I wish we had a cake." The clock struck 12. "Happy Birthday Harry." She whispered grinning to her brother.

"Happy Birthday Violet." He whispered grinning back.

There was a pounding sound that made both Harry and Violet both jump to their feet as they turned to look at the large wooden front door just as it fell off its hinges. Dudley ran to his parents who were standing in the doorway to their room looking very terrified. Uncle Vernon pointed a shotgun at the doorway though he made no move to use it.

The giant of a man looked around the room jovially as he apologized for the door. He ignored the gun pointed at him as if it didn't exist, his eyes falling to the young boy and girl currently clinging to each other as they stared at him. "You must be Harry and Violet Potter." He started to dig in his pockets obviously looking for something as he said "Blimey, you both look just like your parents."

"You knew our parents?" Violet asked taking a step closer to the man. Harry caught her hand and stopped her from moving forward anymore.

"Oh yeah, best of their class. So talented. You look just like your mother Violet, it's almost eerie." He stared at her for a moment longer than she was comfortable with making her shift back towards her brother. The stranger looked like he had seen a ghost from the look he was giving her. He seemed to notice her discomfort however and snapped out of whatever memory or thought he seemed stuck in before he turned to Harry.

"Harry, you look like your father except for the eyes." The man smiled at Harry. "You have your mothers' eyes. You both do."

Harry and Violet looked at each other both wondering what was going on. "Who are you?" Harry asked for them both.

"Right. I forgot to introduce myself. I am Rubeus Hagrid, Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts."

They stared at him confused. Violet spoke slightly annoyed at the confusing situation they were all in. "Is that supposed to mean something to us?" she asked bluntly.

Hagrid seemed confused as he looked from the potter children to the Dursleys still cowering in the doorway to the bedroom. "You don't know about Hogwarts? How did you think your parents learned it all?"

Violet looked to the Dursley's; she always had known they wouldn't have told them everything about their parents, there was no love lost between the two sets of relatives. The Dursleys hardly ever mentioned the Potters other than to talk about their bad mistakes that had gotten them killed. Violet had learned long ago not to take their words too seriously but what could they have hidden that would cause a giant of a man to come searching for two kids. "What did you not tell us?" She asked them as Harry asked, "Learned what?"

"Not tell you?" Hagrid turned to the Dursley's "Are you telling me that they do not know who they are? I saw Dumbledore leave you a letter, you know what happened and you did not tell them?" His voice was low and tight as if holding back on his anger.

"I will not have two of them in my house." Vernon shouted back with an attempt at bravado that would have been impressive if he were not shaking from head to toe with fright.

"You think you can stop it?"Hagrid shouted. "A muggle like you! How dare you hide who these children are when everyone in our world knows them, was raised to know their names?" Hagrid took the gun from Vernon quickly bending it in a knot as if it were rubber before tossing it aside to stare down the cowering muggles.

"I'll - I'll…" Vernon spluttered as he looked to the shotgun now in the corner of the room useless to him now.

Hagrid ignored him, turning back to the two children. "You're a Wizard Harry and you're a Witch Violet" Violet's jaw dropped as Harry argued that it couldn't be true. The two of them looked at each other with such different expressions on their faces. Harry in clear disbelief while Violet seemed more contemplative.

She remembered all the weird things that seemed to happen when she got mad as Hagrid asked if strange things had ever happened when they had been upset.

One time she had been watching Dudley chasing Harry and suddenly Dudley's pants had caught on fire, but the flames hadn't hurt him, only seriously scared him. Then there was a time that she had dreaded going to school wearing Dudley's old jeans, she had woken up to find a pair of jeans that fit her at the foot of the bed.

'Yes. this will change everything.' She thought excitedly at the prospect of getting out of the Dursley's grip.

"You knew!" Harry shouted to the Dursleys who were glaring at Hagrid.

Aunt Petunia was the one who spoke now, seeming to find courage in her anger. "Knew! Of course we knew. My sister being what she was! I was the only one who saw her for the freak she was! Our parents were so happy to have a witch in the family after she got a letter like that." Petunia pointed sharply to the letter still clutched in Harry's hand. "Then she married that Potter boy and had you two only to go and get herself blown up leaving us with you!"

"Blown up! You said they died in a car crash!" Harry shouted.

Violet frowned at her aunt, not too surprised by their lies. She had learned long ago that they were not that trustworthy. Hagrid meanwhile shouted at them about the injustice of such a lie. Violet found herself watching everything happening in front of her paying only a little attention as she considered this new reality.

'We will get away!' Excitement bubbled up in her as she considered everything they has just learned. Her brother and her, they would have a chance at a different life. A better life full of magic. She would make sure of it. Violet promised herself in that moment that she would become an amazing witch and leave the Dursleys and their sad excuse for a family behind. She would protect her brother and together they would be happy for the first time in their lives. Harry was the only family she needed and with magic in their lives… surely, they would face a better life then being under the Dursley's thumb until at least college.

She was only dimly aware of the rest of the night as she began to dream about what being a witch would do for her life.
