You know what? I needed a flying Pokemon yesterday.
Lily ended up flying me to Motostoke on her Corviknight (Along the way, she told me she beat the 3rd gym a week ago. Then I asked her how she got the Corviknight, and apparently it was just a gift from her hometown?) so she could buy me some Pokeballs.
And, though I had some experience flying with wings, flying on the back of a Pokemon was such a better feeling because there was less attention on flying and more attention of "Holy fuck I'm in Pokemon."
I was going to try and attack Lily again, with the logic of her Corviknight possibly being her only flying type Pokemon, so she would fall to her death when I got to fighting it.
And I did attack.
And the Corviknight just tossed me off before I could do anything.
Lily was gently giggling at me as had her Corviknight dive to pick me back up. Despite the fact I could fly myself.
It was pretty humiliating.
So, I ended up just accepting the fact that I would need a proper Pokemon team to beat Lily in combat.
As we landed in Motostoke, Lily pointed me in the direction of the Pokemon center, "There's a Pokemart inside of the Pokemon center too! Isn't that just so convenient?"
I sighed, still mildly bitter about the two losses I already had against her, "Yeah…"
Lily seemed to soften upon seeing my mood, "It's okay Mr. Fuse! I'm sure you'll beat me some day!"
"Yeah…" I grumbled, mildly annoyed that the 9 year old girl was telling me this.
It would be better if she was American, but she's really dead set on insisting that she's a Galarian.
Either way, we entered the Pokemon center.
Lily began to introduce what a Pokemon center is to me. I already knew, of course. I played the games. But after getting my ass beat by the 9 year old two times in a row, I really didn't want to make it three in a day.
Lily finished by saying, "Okay, now you try! Why don't you have your Regieleki healed?"
"Put some respect on California's name," I said as I walked up to the counter, manned by Nurse Joy.
Lily walked up with me, telling Nurse Joy, "Sorry if he's a bit mean! He's in a bad mood!"
Why is this 9 year old trying to babysit me? I would rather she just shoot me. Why even tell her that? It's completely unnecessary for the purposes of just healing California.
Nurse Joy chuckled, "It's okay, Lily. Now, Mr. Fuse-" How the fuck does she already know my name? "Would you like to heal your Pokemon?"
Not sure how to ask why she knows my name, I just handed over California's Pokeball, "Yeah."
Nurse Joy promptly put the Pokeball in the machine, I guess it works on game logic here, and a little preview of California showed up on the monitor.
Nurse Joy hummed as California was healed, "Hm, I've never seen this Pokemon before. What is it?"
"Uhh…" I try to figure out what to say in this situation. I couldn't exactly just say that it was a legendary Pokemon. So, I avoid the question, "I captured it a very long time ago."
It was like a month ago. But that's a pretty long time. So it's basically the same thing.
Nurse Joy wanted to question me more, I could tell, but the machine finished its process of healing. So, Nurse Joy instead just returned California to me, "Have a nice day!"
"Thanks," I politely replied back.
Lily smiled, "See! Nice and easy. Now, here are some Pokes. Go ahead and buy 10 Pokeballs with it!"
I took the money from Lily's hand and went up the the cashier, "10 Pokeballs, please."
It was a quick transaction. The poor bastard probably goes through it dozens of times a day.
So, I got my Pokeballs, and Lily cheered for me, "Nice! Now, do you need me to help you catch your first Pokemon?"
I shook my head, "Nah, I got this," I know how to do that, it's just throwing the Pokeball after weakening them.
Lily put a finger on her lip, "Hm, okay!" She smiled again, "So, do you want to know anything else before I go?"
I nodded, "Yeah. Where can I get myself a rotom phone?"
Lily tilted her head, "Um, the rotoms are expensive. The phones aren't though! If you work for a day or two, you can get one for really cheap!"
Well, I guess that's good. Though, is stealing one viable? From what I know, Galar is basically the UK, so they should be familiar with getting robbed.
Well, once I get Dori here, she'll somehow find a way to become the richest person on this planet anyways. So money shouldn't be that big of an issue.
Do I have anything else I want to ask her?
After a moment of deliberation, I figured that I don't have anything pressing to ask her. I'll meet her again very soon anyways, when I figure out how the internet works and find a forum or something tracking every challenger's location.
So, I said, "That's all I wanted to ask."
Lily gave me a thumbs up, "Okay! I'll see you soon, then!"
As Lily went to leave the Pokemon center, I leveled one final challenge at her, "Lily!"
Lily turned to me, a curious expression on her face.
"America is a glorious nation filled with people that shouldn't be trifled," I said, pointing directly at her, "I will defeat you, just as we casted away our chains all those years ago."
Lily chuckled, "Hehe! I hope so! Bye bye, Fuse!"
Lily left the Pokemon center.
After a few moments to just let her gain some distance, I left as well.

So who is Fuse anyways? Some guy from the Crown Tundra like Lily is? Lily was sponsored by the mayor of Freezington, making her the youngest challenger in the history of Galar (Which I'm still not convinced wasn't a political move to make their tiny town be famous for a few days.) Fuse being from the same town could make sense, as Fuse might've wanted the sponsor but was unable to because of Lily. Then it would be humiliating for Fuse to need Lily's help to acclimate to city life, because Freezington is a rural town. Which is why Fuse leveled that challenge at her (But wtf is an America?) Sorry man, we don't know. Lily has only been seen using the Pokemon center like 2 times, and both times it was just her Corviknight being healed. Considering her age though, it wouldn't be too much of a surprise to learn if the other 4 balls were just for show though.

Alright, I have 10 Pokeballs, and I need to get myself a nice flying type Pokemon for myself. And maybe another flying type Pokemon just to give to Dori. She would probably like…
Hm, I wonder if I can fly to Paldea and get Dori a Gholdengo. I'm sure she would like that. The upkeep on metallic Pokemon is probably cheap too…
As I was wandering and wondering, a falling Pokemon caught the corner of my eye.
It was a Braviary, who looked to be getting defeated by a squad of Corviknights.
Holy shit.
Braviary landed not too far from me, and I instantly knew it was fate that had that Braviary- No, Washington, appeared in front of me today.
I immediately ran towards where Washington fell.
Washington was getting harassed by the Corviknights and its offspring. None of them were above level 40, but the number of Pokemon in the family might've be a problem for me.
If I had no reservations about blatant murder of Pokemon.
"Domain expansion, Revolutionary Battlefield."
Washington and I looked at the dead bodies of what was probably Galar's national bird sprayed across the ground.
"Too far?" I asked the Braviary.
The Braviary cawed in what I assumed to be "Yes."
I nodded, "Yeah, I probably should've scared them away instead of using my domain expansion."
The Braviary cawed again.
I looked to Braviary, "Say, Washington, do you want to join my team?"
I held up a pokeball in my hand, "You don't have to, of course. I value freedom for- Well, everyone except them I guess."
Yeah, I really should've just scared them away.
Braviary then tapped its own head on the Pokeball in my hand, allowing himself to be captured.
The Pokeball swayed three times, and with a click, I knew I had caught my first Pokemon.

Well, all that I needed to do was to inform Dori about her being able to come along with me here. Mostly to make money that I needed.
But hopefully, it should be a nice vacation for us both.
Creating a portal back to Teyvat, I immediately jump in.
The longer trip actually made me think I was being forced back into Skryb's corner of the universe, and I actually had to mutter out a "Please for fuck's sake not him" just to make sure I didn't have to listen to that guy's voice again.
Luckily, I didn't have to hear his voice as I landed in Dori's living room.
Dori was in the middle of feeding her golden frog, Dhahab, and she flinched upon my entrance.
Dori sighed as she calmed down, "Can you stop surprising me like that?"
I chuckled, "Nah. By the way, it's all safe. We can honestly go whenever you want."
Dori stopped feeding Dhahab.
Then, she grinned from cheek to cheek, "I've been packed. So, tell me… What do you think is the exchange rate between Mora and the new money?"

The laptop is seriously goated. Completed most of this chapter in 2 hours with my laptop. I need to scream this from the top of my lungs. The best way to write is to get a laptop, delete all tabs except the one you're writing on, get on your couch, and get writing.
I'll probably still do writing on my computer, probably for the more technical bits like the levels and stats. But other than that, laptop will now be doing the majority of the writing.

[I am SO happy that I can finally do internet stuff again! The Yggdrasil Forums in Time Capsule disappeared long ago, and all of the other fandoms I'm writing in are pre-internet times. Honestly, writing about online people's reaction to stuff is the best part about writing. I will be adding a section of online every Pokemon chapter just to cherish the limited time we have with it.]

[Also, what Pokemon should Dori have? I was going to give her a Gholdengo, but Paldea is so far away… Well, I could just have her get lucky again on the gacha, if that's the funniest thing that could happen.]
