Long ago, in a small, somewhat primitive village a loud crashing is heard and a large man comes running out of a house. However he is unlike any human. He is a large gorilla-like man with big arms wearing an old-looking robe over his crotch. He's also DRENCHED in water. He looks around angrily as the other villagers, each one also being an animal-human hybrid of sorts. Everything from lizards to foxes seem to be walking around. "Where is he? Where's that little monkey gone this time!?" He yells and hears a snicker from a nearby tree and he looks up seeing a young much skinnier Wukong. "WU KONG! Get down here NOW!"
Wu laughs a little as he hands upside down on a branch by his tail. "Naaaah you're just gonna yell at me, Chief. I ain't about that! Besides, it wasn't me who did it. It was HIM!" He points dramatically and the Chief looks to the side seeing no one where he pointed and when he looks back the monkey-boy has disappeared.
"HEY! Don't you run from me, kid! I will have your head at dinner today!" He yells with an authoritative point. However he lowers his finger as Wu is far gone. "Bah… stupid kid…" He looks inside where Wu had set up a wooden bucket of water above his bed so when he woke up and sat he bonked his head and it spilled everywhere on him. "Heh."
Wu Kong ran away with a happy laugh and he pauses at the outskirts of the village. "Haha. That was a good one, me. Pchhhh," He fist-bumps himself.
"Bumping YOURSELF? That's just SAD!" He hears a voice and looks down seeing another young boy like him. He appears to be a pig-man with bright pink skin and a scar over his eye, much more well-trained than Wu clearly, wearing some primitive gathering gear like a bucket on his back and a large spork-like stick.
"Zhu! How's my favorite ugly idiot doing today!?" Wu laughs as he climbs down the tree to greet him.
"I'm doing juuuust great, Wu. I missed you at training yesterday? Chief Kong was NOT happy about it."
Wu laughs. "Well fighting's not really for me. I don't get the point anyway. There's NO other clan around who has outstanding hatred towards us. So why train to fight them?"
Zhu grunts a little as he picks a few berries hanging from the tree with the spork-like stick. "Yeah you say that now. But you know we're one of the exceptions who accept anyone into our village. Someone COULD have something to say about that. You know how it is," He looks to Wu with a laugh and claps him on the shoulder. "But you know what? It's fine. I love you just the way you are my friend. You're a free spirit,"
Wu rubs the back of his head a little sheepishly. "Nooooo… that's not really it. I guess I'm just… too lazy to do much of anything productive," He says as Zhu hands him a stick.
"Then help me pick some food?"
The two friends pick some berries and fruits together, Wukong swiftly able to climb trees to get the goods. Both laughing and having fun. They get back to the village with Zhu's full pack and Wukong pauses a bit, jumping into a tree. "Woah. She almost saw me…" He whispers as Zhu looks ahead seeing a beautiful young girl their age, a lizard-girl with a large leaf on her head as a hat, folding a flower-crown with some other girls.
"What? You STILL haven't talked to her more than like two minutes tops right, Wu?" Zhu laughs and walks over, Wu holding out his arm.
"W-wait no! H-hey don't!" Zhu points over at him, seemingly talking to the girls just in time for the girl to see Wu fall out of the tree and onto his face. He jumps up, blushing like crazy as the girl approaches him. "Heeeeey, Bai…"
The girl giggles seeing him fidgeting around, Bai's scales turning a little redder. "Zhu told me you wanted to ask me something?" She tries, but Wu is sweating bullets and she laughs. "Come ooooon, Wu. Stop being so nervoooous," She pouts a little adorably.
"I-I um… it's just because… you know… um… I don't… what are words?" He says and she sighs and rolls her eyes, grabbing his arm. "Woah!"
"Come here you big doofus," She sits him down next to the other girls, putting the flower crown she just made on his head. "See, girls? Told you! PERFECT fit," They all laugh as Wu looks a little silly with the pink flowers in his hair.
"Geez… I'm the prankster here. Not you… Bai?" He takes a deep breath and Bai nods eagerly.
"Yeeeeees?"
Zhu smirks from a distance as he sets his bag of food down next to the village cook. "PLEASE GO OUT WITH ME! J-just one date!" Wu bows deeply.
Bai pauses a bit as Wu looks up at her with a smile. She her entire body shifts color to be fully red. "D-do you have to yell so much? Now I'm flustered… Y-yes. I would like that very much," She says with a smile and Wu lets out a sigh of relief.
"T-thank the gods. What should we do though…? I… didn't think I'd get this far honestly," Suddenly the girls all yelp and Bai giggles when Chief Kong is suddenly behind Wu. Wu blinks a little and looks up at him. "Oh haaaaaaaai, Chief. Umm… Chief, Bai. Bai, Chief,"
The Chief grabs Wu's collar angrily. "We're going to make up for some lost training. Now! And don't think I've forgotten about your little water-bucket, Wu!"
Wu squirms and yelps. "Hey I was having a moment of bravery there! Chief! Um… BAI! Pick you up at… Uuuh. A little before sunset!" He yells and Bai giggles and waves him off.
"I'll see you there, Wu! Good luck!" Bai is surrounded by the girls who all happily congratulate her on her first date.
"Geez I'm happy for you but… what do you see in him anyway? He's just a troublemaker."
Bai pulls her hat down in front of her mouth with a little blush. "I dunno. I guess he's kinda sweet. He's not hurting anyone. He's just… making us smile most of the time with how dumb he is. I like that,"
Wu is dragged along, smiling and waving to the other villagers. "Heeeey. Oh! I love the new style, miss!" He says to a passing hippo-lady. "Hey there kiddo," he fistbumps a little cute fox-boy as they pass. "Pccchhh."
The Chief tosses Wu forward and he stumbles a bit as they're in the village training pit. "Are you done playing around, Wu Kong? Our village NEEDS warriors to protect it. A water bucket won't protect us for long," He tosses Wu a wooden staff.
Wu grabs the staff out of the air, fumbling a bit. "Listen. Chief. It's not like we're going to war anytime soon right? And even if we were, wouldn't we be better off trying to talk it out?"
"You don't get it, Wu. Of COURSE it would be better to talk it out, and become allies rather than enemies. But some enemies, you cannot reason with. So you MUST be ready to fight,"
Wu sighs and spins the staff a bit with surprising skill. "Alright Chief. If I beat you this time will you FINALLY stop forcing me to do this stupid training?" He bonks himself on the head with it. "Ow."
"Heh. Certainly. IF you beat me," He grabs a large wooden axe made for training and Wu launches forward swinging his staff, but the giant gorilla-chief simply blocks with the top of his axe, pushing the staff to the floor, stepping on it, and follows up with a swing, which Wu sees, jumping over the Chief, spinning on his shoulder with a laugh, but right before he lands the Chief does a quick leg-sweep knocking him down and he chops at Wu's face, but the monkey dodges it, rolling back only to find the Chief stepping on his chest. "You lose."
Wu laughs and tries tickling the Chief's toes. "You wouldn't happen to be ticklish?"
The Chief picks up the staff and Wu gets back up. "You lost your weapon. You see all my attacks coming like always, but you fool around too much. You'd be a true warrior if you only took this seriously in the slightest. It's a shame to see your potential going to waste. You don't train and yet it's clear you have such incredible capacity for strength."
"But I don't NEED strength, Chief. So why should I have it?!"
The Chief sighs. "Listen… Wu… not WANTING strength and not NEEDING it are very different, but if you just apply yours- you're already gone aren't you?" He looks behind him and sure enough Wu has left. "You know I'll see you at dinner right!? Fleeing is idiotic!" He looks at the staff a bit. "He'll… find out eventually. I just hope it's not too late when he does,"
-Some years later-
Wu is sitting in a large tree looking out into the distance, Bai sitting next to him. "Wuuuuuu? What're you thinking about?"
"Chief's been on my ass recently, because I keep skipping on training, and I've really been struggling with figuring out a time to tell him," He says and Bai nuzzles close to him.
"You know… maybe you SHOULDN'T skip on training? Just a thought, tihi. Would make it easier to break the news," She kisses him on the cheek and he blushes with a big goofy grin.
"Yeah you're probably right. It'd make him happy wouldn't it? Both things," However something catches his gaze in the distance. It's a group of people. He's about to run ahead and greet them when he notices something else. "They're holding weapons… Bai we need to get back to the village! Warn the-" His voice is caught in his throat when suddenly the Chief and the men of the village walk out from the forest.
The army approaching them is made up only of reptilian humanoids. The two armies stand in front of each other with Chief Kong and the reptilian chief standing in front of each other. "I'm warning you, Lizard-clan… you do not want this fight. It will be meaningless bloodshed and you will not survive."
"Ssssorry but we require land to expand our empire. Your little forest is in the way," He says clutching his blade firmly and just as he raises it a voice booms across the battlefield.
"WAAAAAAAAAIT!" It's Wu as he comes running, on the shoulders of the other villagers and he leaps off the last one, landing right in front of the lizardman holding out his hands.
"Huh? Who'ssss thisss?"
"Hi there. Name's Wu," He greets and the Chief looks incredibly weary.
"Wuuuuuu… go back to the village."
"What!? No. Listen, Chief Lizardman, I'm sure you don't ACTUALLY want to kill EVERYONE in our village right? Surely not. You seek to expand your village. That's what you said. Wouldn't it be easier to just… allow us to live alongside you? And we keep our little forest and you get EVERYTHING around it if you want?" He suggests and the lizard-man pauses, before loudly cackling.
"Kyaaakakaka! You think it'sss that easssy?" He holds out his sword, but Wu is unafraid.
"It IS that easy. Why do you want to kill us then?"
"Because you're filthy warm-blooded fur-people! You taint everything you touch and you must be PURGED from the planet!"
"Oh yeah? You think we're ALL warm-blooded here? You're wrong. Back in the village, our healer is a lizardman just like you. Our best scout is an avian."
The lizardman looks confused. "And why would they want to live with YOU people!?"
"Because we're not some evil monsters just cause we need to clean our fur of fleas once in a while. Be reasonable. There are kids in our village who will grow up without parents, pregnant women! You would slaughter innocent people for the sake of expanding your empire? That's not right."
The lizardman lowers his weapon a little. "Grrrr… YOU LIE! I see no lizardmen amongst your warriors here!" He calls out when suddenly Bai appears next to Wu. The lizardman's eyes widen. "W-what!? Who are you!?"
"I am Bai. This is my boyfriend, Wu. And I am a proud member of this village."
The lizardman looks a little stunned. "You think your act will fool me!? I promise you, Bai. If you side with us we will bring you no harm, unlike what these savage mammals surely have done."
Bai gulps and puts a hand on her belly. "No. I will not! I will not leave the father of my children!" She declares and everyone's eyes go wide with surprise, even Chief Kong's.
"Y-you're… with child!? I'm to be a grandfather!?" He says in bliss for a moment.
Wu looks back with a nervous smile. "We… were planning to tell you soon. Sorry."
The Lizardman Chief looks shocked down at Wu who just smiles up at him. "Reptilian… and mammal… together…?" He looks almost confused as Wu and Bai merge hands standing rather firmly in front of the lizardman army. He looks to Kong. "Very well then. Out of respect for this Reptilian woman and her unborn child. I will be willing to discuss a peaceful solution. But it will be on common ground! Out here."
Kong huffs a bit. "So be it. I too would hate for my daughter-in-law to see her kin and people slaughtered meaninglessly," The two hold out their hands to shake and Wu and Bai look happily to each other. That was… much easier than they expected!
However suddenly from the reptilian army a soldier LEAPS out at incredible speeds, holding up a large curved dagger. "TRAITOROUS SCUM! I refuse to let such an impure child be born into MY WORLD!" He is going straight for Bai and before anyone can react he's already too close for either chief to do anything! However as the loud squelching of a knife through flesh echoes over the field Bai opens her eyes, seeing Wukong with the knife straight through his chest.
"Are you… okay, Bai?" He asks heaving a bit as he coughs up blood. The reptilian chief grabs the soldier and shoves him back to be held by his other soldiers. Wu stumbles a bit and falls, but Chief Kong catches him.
"WU! WUU! Stay with me!" He says but Wu's vision is already going blurry. "Youuuuu!" He looks to the reptilian chief, clutching his axe tightly, only to feel Wu's hand on his arm.
"Chief… don't… please… don't be mad. Don't answer with violence. We can ALWAYS… talk to them. It's just one bad egg in the basket," He looks to Bai and cups her face. "You'll… keep an eye on him for me won't you? And… our kids too. They're gonna be so amazing,"
Bai sniffles as blood is dripping from his body, much more than one could feasibly survive without. "I-I'll keep him in line, Wu. Don't worry. We'll be fine. I promise,"
The Chief feels tears well up in his eyes. "Wu. Son… I… I'm sorry. I didn't listen. I was always so hard on you,"
Wu raises his hand a little. "Hey man… It's all good. Just… take care of Bai and… the little ones," With that he closes his eyes for the last time passing away.
"I never told you that…" He realizes Wu has passed away and solemnly looks down closing his eyes, the reptilian chief awaiting his reaction. "I am proud of you."
Bai hugs the Chief tightly. "He knew. I'm sure. I'm sure he knew, Chief."
After some moments, the Chief picks up Wu's body, leaving his axe behind. "We will be back, chief of the reptilian tribe. To deliberate on this peace treaty…"
"Very well. I will see to it that this traitor is held accountable for disobeying orders."
"... thank you," And thus was the end of Wu's life on Earth. However the end of his life. Was only the beginning of his existence.
