My Hero Academia: Lion of Courage
Chapter 22: Sparring Secrets

After school concluded, Yaoyorozu was informed by her parents on her phone that her butler wouldn't arrive for another hour due to troubles with their limo. Her father, Hotaka Yaoyorozu was busy with a board meeting concerning Pro Heroes and her mother, Asami Yaoyorozu, was engrossed in a mandatory business meeting with partners of the Yaoyorozu Family. While she wasn't thrilled about having to wait an hour, she did feel it was an opportunity to go to Gym Gamma and improve her combat skills.
As she walked to the gym, she thought back to her argument with Zankoku earlier in Sunstorm's Science Class. While his hostility wasn't as passionate and rage-filled like Raionhato was towards Bakugo, his words stung with contempt and seething disdain. This hatred also extended to her classmate, Todoroki, who had also gotten in on recommendation as she did.
But then, she thought of Todoroki, remembering his fighting prowess with his ice powers. Despite his defeat at Zankoku's hands during the previous combat matches with Razor Shell, he had still displayed such power against someone as quick and agile as Zankoku. But that was him only using his ice; if he used his fire, no one in the class would stand a chance against him…especially not her.
Even though she was close to getting Class Representative, instead ending up as Vice President, she couldn't shake this undeniable feeling of inferiority towards the Half-Cold Half-Hot Quirk user. During the Combat Training, Todoroki won against his opponents single-handedly while Yaoyorozu's lack of foresight nearly gave Zankoku victory. Had Raionhato not intervened when he did, they would've lost the fight.
"Hold on," a female student from General Studies spoke to another female. "You mean to tell me that Momo Yaoyorozu got into the Hero Course?" Yaoyorozu stopped when she heard the girl bring her up.
"That stupid spoiled brat," the other female groaned. "She only got in because her dad's rich. I can't believe we have to be in General Studies, despite all the hard work we did, just to make way for some 'recommendation' girl. I'm willing to bet that if any of those recommendation students had to go through the Entrance Exam, they would've failed."
"Oh, hell yeah," the 1st female agreed. "Seriously. Well, luckily, if she fails miserably enough at the Sports Festival, she'll probably be busted down to General Studies…and then we can work our way up there." The other female student snicked, but in contempt rather than in agreement.
"Oh, please; her daddy would probably flash some money in front of the Principal-"
"That's enough," Yaoyorozu spoke up as she approached the two girls, her voice polite yet firm. "I understand that you're angry about not being in the Hero Course, but my wealth had nothing to do with me being here. I earned my place here at U.A."
The two girls glared at Yaoyorozu with immense hate for saying she earned her spot in the Hero Course. To them, she was handed her spot on a silver platter, just like the other five people who got in on recommendation. She, like most of them excluding Zankoku, had a better chance of getting in because they were the children of prestigious Pro Heroes.
"Now you're going to talk down to us?" the 1st female challenged. "You think you earned your spot simply because you're rich? We studied and trained for a long time to get into the Hero Course, but because of people like you, we were denied our chance. So, here's to hoping you fail." The two girls then walked away with their scowls filled with spite and disdain for Momo Yaoyorozu.
"You're wrong," she quietly told them as she continued to Gym Gamma, hoping to find a sparring partner.
"Hey, Yaoyorozu!" Raionhato called out to her. He was already in his Gym Clothes, indicating that he had the same idea she did to train in Gym Gamma.
"Raionhato," she greeted politely. "I hope you're doing well. Are you heading to Gym Gamma?"
"I am," he replied. "It's a better place to practice my combat skills. Are you on your way there as well?"
"Yes. Since we're both here and you said you'd help improve my sword skills, would you be willing to train with me?"
"Sounds good! I'll meet you in Gym Gamma!"
Raionhato walked in the direction of Gym Gamma while Yaoyorozu went to the girls' locker room to change into her gym clothes. She was quick to change into her clothes and leave so she wouldn't keep Raionhato waiting for too long since she didn't know how long he'd be staying after school.
She promptly made her way to Gym Gamma where she saw Raionhato practicing with Lion Saber, but as soon as he saw her, he stopped and waited for her to walk inside. She held out her right hand and used her Creation to make a sword similar in length to Lion Saber. Unlike her bo-staves, the sword took longer to create due to being comprised of more materials, which she had explained earlier.
"Ready?" Raionhato asked, holding up Lion Saber.
"Yes," Yaoyorozu replied. The two took different battle stances and Takeo could immediately tell that the woman in front of him knew how to handle a sword. Her posture, her battle stance, her grip on the sword all said how much training she had received using weapons.
Raionhato was the first to attack, clashing his blade with Yaoyorozu's. The two traded blows with one another, the sounds of metal clanging filling up the gym as their sparring continued.
In contrast to Raionhato's ferocious and offensive fighting style, Yaoyorozu's sword fighting was more graceful and smooth like an elegant bird. However, Raionhato was clearly showing himself to be the superior swordsman in this fight, but he had to give credence to Yaoyorozu's fighting skills, not that he expected less from her. Her father had clearly taught her well in close quarters combat, but eventually, Raionhato disarmed her.
"Whew," Raionhato sighed, panting from the spar. "You really know how to handle a blade, Yaoyorozu."
"Thank you, but you were clearly the better swordfighter," Yaoyorozu replied. "Who taught you how to fight?"
"My mentor, Forge, and my mother, Lioness," Raionhato answered. "Forge trained me and then created my sword, shield and bow. They're his masterpieces."
"He sounds like he was a great mentor," Yaoyorozu complimented.
"Yes…he was."
Yaoyorozu's gentle smile dropped when she heard the somber tone of Raionhato's voice. She felt terrible for bringing up a bad memory for him, reminding him of the passing of his old mentor.
"I'm so sorry," she apologized. "I didn't mean to bring up old memories."
"It's okay, you didn't know," Raionhato replied. "My mother taught me martial arts during her free time due to the nature of my Quirk. By itself, it really doesn't have much use in combat, so I had to train to compensate. Hence the weapons I use."
"Did Forge make all of your weapons?" Yaoyorozu asked as she created two towels, handing one to Raionhato so the two of them could wipe off their sweat.
"No, my Concussion Gauntlet, Wire Gauntlets and Grappling Gun were made by my old friend, Satoshi Gijutsu. He's in the Support Course. I had hoped he and I would be in the Hero Course together, but things changed for him. But from what I've heard, he's happy there."
"I'm happy to hear that," Yaoyorozu responded as the two picked up their weapons and prepared for another spar.
Again, the two classmates clashed blades with one another, Raionhato's ferocious and straightforward fighting clashing with Yaoyorozu's more graceful and elegant combat. As the two trained, Yaoyorozu and Raionhato got a feel for each other's style of fighting, but as before, Raionhato proved himself the better warrior.
"Man, you're better with a sword than I thought," Raionhato told Momo as they backed away to catch each other's breath. "I can see why you got in on recommendation."
"She only got in because her dad's rich. I can't believe we have to be in General Studies, despite all the hard work we did, just to make way for some 'recommendation' girl."
Yaoyorozu's competent and focused look slowly died as she remembered the words the General Studies students said about her. She had worked very hard to get into U.A., having trained and studied to get into Japan's most prestigious Hero School. She knew some students would be angry at this despite knowledge of the custom, but even still, this caused her to feel a sense of inferiority.
"Yaoyorozu?" Raionhato asked, noticing she had dropped her stance. "You okay?"
"I'm…I'm okay," she assured. "Let's just take a break." Raionhato nodded and placed his weapon away in Inventory, then took out a water bottle to take a sip. He then handed it to Yaoyorozu, who graciously accepted it, took a drink and then returned it.
"Is that your father's Quirk?" she asked, hoping to take her mind off her self-doubt.
"It is," Raionhato answered. "He was the…the Weaponry Hero: Paladin. He was actually #18 on the Hero Scoreboard."
"Paladin?" Yaoyorozu exclaimed. "I've heard of that name. My father admired him, said we needed more heroes like him."
Unlike before, Raionhato was dead silent, not a noise escaping his lips. She wondered what was wrong before remembering how Raionhato worded his sentence. He used the word 'was', not 'is', implying that his father was no longer a Pro Hero or…he was no longer in his life.
"He…he died, a long time ago," Raionhato answered before his fists tightened. "The Blade of Terror, Fukushu…he took my father from me."
Yaoyorozu knew too well who the Blade of Terror was, her father having known of him since he surfaced. He was one of Japan's most brutal vigilantes, targeting corrupt Pro Heroes, criminals and villains, anyone he believed used their power to prey on the innocent. But the way he killed his enemies, the way he slaughtered them…it wasn't justice, it was sadistic and inhumane cruelty. She couldn't imagine the pain Raionhato was suffering, knowing his father was a victim of Fukushu's cruelty.
"Raionhato, I'm…I'm truly sorry," she spoke, gently placing her hand on his in a comforting gesture.
The swordsman's face felt Momo's soft hand on his own, causing him to look and then turn red with embarrassment. He was tempted to break away from her grasp, but he enjoyed this moment with her and slowly grabbed her hand in return.
"Thanks," he replied as he held her hand. This gesture caused Yaoyorozu to look down at the two of them holding hands and blush, realizing what they were doing. She gently broke away from his grasp and turned away as well. Her blush disappeared when she heard a text on her phone, so she opened it and her butler informed her that he was ten minutes away.
"Oh, I have to leave," Yaoyorozu told Raionhato. "My butler's on his way with one of the family limos."
"Butler?" Raionhato asked as if shocked. "Family limo?"
"Yes," Yaoyorozu replied. "He probably had to bring the smaller one since my father's using the bigger one."
"Bigger one?" Raionhato asked again.
"Yes, we have several limos," Yaoyorozu informed. "Actually, if you'd like, I'd be willing to offer you a ride home. Do you live far from here? I'd consider it thanks for sparring with me."
"Not too far," Raionhato answered, still in disbelief that Yaoyorozu just said her family owned several limos.
The two of them went to their separate locker rooms to change into their school uniforms and then meet at the front of U.A. for Yaoyorozu's limo. After Raionhato changed and was waiting for Yaoyorozu, he caught sight of a familiar face: Kaze Yonaka, who was in his gym clothes, presumably off to train since he had his sais and rope dart.
"Why haven't you left U.A. already?" Yonaka questioned in a very cold and angry manner.
"I won't leave U.A. simply because you tell me to," Raionhato responded.
"You honestly believe you deserve to be here, after what you did to Yoruge?" Kaze angrily questioned.
"It was an accident!" Takeo countered. "I didn't mean for-"
"And then you hid the truth from me for two years! You damn coward!"
Raionhato couldn't respond nor justify what he did that ruined their friendship. No matter what his reasons were, he had hurt Kaze and lied about it for two years. When he finally told Kaze about this 'Yoruge', the Shadow Flash user was outraged and ended their friendship. Ever since then, Kaze viewed Raionhato as scum, a traitor, a coward for his actions.
"I may not be able to prove what you did or who you are, but I will never forget…nor forgive," Kaze stated. "But if you end up getting kicked out, I'll look down on you and smile."
"Is everything okay?" Yaoyorozu asked, having heard some of the conversation after getting out of the changing room. The two young men were quiet in response until Raionhato spoke up and assured her that everything was fine.
"I was just leaving," Kaze spoke, his angry scowl turned back to its normal stone-faced expression before using his Quirk to teleport away.
"Who was that?" Momo asked, noting his very hostile tone towards Raionhato.
"Kaze Yonaka," Takeo answered. "He and I…we used to be friends, but…something happened and…that's all I'm comfortable saying for now. It's very personal."
"I understand," Momo replied. "I won't pry, but we need to hurry. My butler will be here soon. I hope you don't mind that we won't refreshments; we only have that in our largest limo."
"Yaoyorozu, it's really enough that you're offering to take me home," Raionhato replied as the two of them started on their way to the front of the school.
Momo thought on the conversation she overheard between Takeo and Kaze. She heard the hostility and antagonism in Kaze's voice as he spoke to her classmate, almost mirroring Raionhato's tone when he spoke to or about Bakugo. While she was curious about what happened between them, it was clear that Takeo wasn't comfortable talking about it, so she felt it best to leave it alone.
She reflected on her sparring with Raionhato. His fierce fighting style, his skilled swordsmanship, his understanding of how to use a blade showed how much he had trained, how good of a mentor Forge had been to him. He had won both spars almost effortlessly, or that's how she felt.
However, his praise for her abilities and acknowledgement of her combat skills led her to realize something: unlike Todoroki, she didn't feel inferior to him. She didn't feel like he surpassed her in every way like she did with the son of Endeavor. She didn't feel the need to compare herself to him as she had to with Todoroki. Despite her disapproval of Raionhato's antagonistic personality towards Bakugo, she felt comfortable around him, felt like she didn't have to see him as someone who surpassed her.
"Well, here he is," Yaoyorozu told Raionhato after her butler arrived in the limo. "Sorry it's not as big as our normal limo." The swordsman just stood there, dumbfounded at the size of the limousine Yaoyorozu had and was struck by the fact that this was a smaller one.
In Gym Gamma, Kaze Yonaka fought fiercely with his sai knives, jabbing, slashing, thrusting with his weapons with great speed and skill. He suspected that he wouldn't be allowed to use his weapons during the Sports Festival as the handbook stated that Hero Course students were forbidden from using support items, but he would train just in case his application went through. But if he was forbidden from using his weapons, he'd be fine as he would also train in his martial arts.
"Hey, Yonaka!" a male voice addressed with flair. The Shadow Flash user turned to the entrance to see his classmate, Hinote Onkyo, entering the gym with his gym clothes on and shades on his eyes. As usual, he carried himself as if he was a celebrity, walking as if he was dancing and showing off for a concert audience.
"Onkyo," Yonaka addressed. "I trust you're here to train."
"I am," Onkyo replied with an egotistical smile. "I mean, prodigy like me needs to keep up his training. Am I right or am I right?"
"Please don't distract me," Kaze requested as he continued training.
"I'm not distracting you," Onkyo replied before holding his hand up to his mouth. "THIS IS DISTRACTING YOU!"
Onkyo used his Acoustic Control Quirk to amplify the sound of his voice, intentionally throwing Kaze off his training to make a point. The martial artist's stone face hid the annoyance he felt at Onkyo for disrupting his training, simply glaring at him without a single change in his expression.
"Want to go a few rounds?" Onkyo offered. "Just not too long. I have a date after school today. Real hot stuff."
"Is that really all that matters to you?" Yonaka questioned as he stopped training. "Women and fame? Do you have any idea how irritating your bragging is?"
"Hey, come on, man," Onkyo responded. "You've seen my skills. It's not like I'm all bark and no bite. Now, come on; let's spar."
Kaze relented and put his sai knives away before approaching Onkyo and taking up a fighting stance. Onkyo did the same, his cocky and self-assured scowl contrasting with Kaze's lack of expression and razor focus.
"Stun Snap!" Onkyo shouted as he snapped his fingers and amplified the sound greatly, releasing a very loud blast of noise. But just as he did, Kaze teleported behind Onkyo, avoiding the Stun Snap and preparing to attack. Onkyo caught on and blocked the attack, but Yonaka kept him on the defensive so he wouldn't have a chance to use another Stun Snap.
"NICE!" Onkyo spoke, again using his Quirk to amplify his voice. Yonaka was caught in the attack and covered his ears from the sheer volume of the noise. This gave Onkyo the opportunity to attack Kaze twice, but on the third attack, Yonaka teleported above his opponent and kicked him in the head.
Onkyo was about to speak again, presumably to use his Quirk, but Yonaka teleported behind him. Unfortunately, this backfired and Onkyo used a Stun Snap to disorient him. With Yonaka vulnerable, Onkyo unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks on the Shadow Flash user.
As the spar proceeded, Onkyo noticed that the constant teleporting was starting to tire Yonaka out, though his fighting remained as strong and focused as before. Onkyo came to the conclusion that the constant use of Shadow Flash was tiring out his opponent, so sooner or later, Yonaka's attacks would get sloppy due to exhaustion. Much to his surprise, Yonaka's attacks remained strong and precise.
"Say, want to go on a double date?" Onkyo asked. "I mean, guy like you could turn a lot of heads, though not as many as me."
Yonaka didn't respond and continued his attacks, but as Onkyo predicted, his punches and kicks eventually started becoming sloppy and weak due to the constant teleportation. Onkyo had taken advantage of this by constantly using his Quirk to amplify the sounds of his motions, forcing Yonaka to either be caught and be left vulnerable or use his Quirk to avoid the attack. The match ended when Onkyo clapped his hands and shouted 'Thunder Clap!' and a very loud noise filled the entire gym, causing Yonaka to be overwhelmed by the noise and fall to the ground.
Yonaka's ears rung like a heart monitor, making it near hard for him to hear anything due to the sheer volume of Onkyo's Thunder Clap. He saw Onkyo kneel down and show him a message on his phone, reading 'Don't worry. Your hearing will be fine in a few minutes.'
The Shadow Flash user was amazed at how Onkyo had fought. He had deliberately caused Yonaka to tire himself out by making him teleport to avoid his sound attacks. The constant acoustic amplification disoriented Yonaka, leaving him vulnerable to Onkyo's attacks. Not only did he have a great grasp on his Quirk, but he clearly knew martial arts very well and was able to beat Kaze Yonaka, proving himself the prodigy he claimed he was.
Onkyo typed another message that read 'Since I won, how about next week, you and I go on a date with two hot girls? It'd be the honorable thing to do since you lost.' Kaze groaned in annoyance as he slowly got up to his feet.
"I have no interest in dating," Kaze replied when his hearing slowly started to return. "I'm not here for romance. Perhaps-"
"Nope," Onkyo refused. "I'm the winner, I decide. I say you and I go on a double date with two hot girls next week. There's plenty in our class, so take your pick. Kendo, Tokage, Kodai…ohh, maybe Hironaka! She's hot!"
"What makes you think they'd want to go out with us?" Kaze questioned. "You think you'll just walk up to them and charm them? In case you haven't noticed, some of the girls aren't really interested in you." Hinote smirked.
"Oh, they'll come," he assured. "Once I lay on the charm, there's no resisting me. So, you better be ready when I get our date arranged." Onkyo then helped Yonaka to his feet and took him to the locker room to change.
"This'll be a pain," Yonaka groaned.
"I heard that," Onkyo said.
"DIE!" Bakugo roared as he sparred against Yukine in the forest within U.A. As he was about to unleash an explosion on her, Yukine threw a wind of snow at him, causing the sparks on his hands to fade away. Luckily, he had kept his other hand inside his gym clothes by shoving it into the torso and pulled it out once the wind passed by. He then managed to create another explosion that send Yukine flying into a tree.
"That was smart, Bakugo!" Yukine complimented. "So you want to train with me so you can get better in colder temperatures, correct?"
"Shut up and fight!" he barked, launching himself at Yukine. Before he could attack, she used her Quirk to lift herself up in the air with a snowy whirlwind. In order to keep herself guarded from Bakugo, she put herself in the center of the whirlwind so his explosions couldn't penetrate the cold winds.
Bakugo thought about launching himself up and attacking from above, but that would leave him vulnerable should Yukine unleash the snow upwards. If he wasn't careful, her snow could render him unable to produce explosions and cost him the fight. But maybe…maybe it'd be a good idea for her to use up her snow, which would leave her vulnerable.
He launched himself up into the air and once he got up far enough, he used his Explosions to start spinning downwards in a spiral. As expected, Yukine unleashed the snow on Bakugo, but the smoke and heat from his constant explosions shielded him from her attack. Before she could attack again, she was pinned to the ground by Bakugo, holding her down with one hand and using the other to create a continuous explosion.
"I win," he gloated ferociously.
"Nice," Yukine replied before urging him to get off so she could get up.
"You're too cocky," Bakugo bluntly stated. "And you're too damn overreliant on your Quirk. Really pisses me off."
"You're always pissed off," Yukine bluntly replied.
"Shut up!" Bakugo barked. "You want to survive here, you can't underestimate your opponents just because your Quirk's OP! Just blasting your opponents with snow ain't always going to cut it! A Quirk without training is worthless, so cut the bullcrap and stop being so cocky!"
Yukine threw a snowball at his face, annoyed with him yelling every word he said, though she did acknowledge the truth behind it. Her Quirk was strong, but if someone got past it like Bakugo and Raionhato, she'd be left at a major disadvantage as she didn't do well when pushed into close quarters combat.
"So why hide your name, Ice Queen?" Bakugo asked, his tone less angry than before.
"Huh?" Yukine asked.
"Don't make me repeat myself," Bakugo spoke in his usual angry manner. "What, you hate your parents or something?"
Yukine hated the fact that Todoroki and Razor Shell accidentally exposed her as the daughter of Governor Reitan Kuraokami. At first glance, it'd seem she'd be the envy of her classmates along with Todoroki and Yaoyorozu as she was practically 'royalty' among the peasants. However, it was anything but that.
"Well, I guess that happens when people only care about you because of your name."
"Who the hell are the Kuraokamis anyway?" Bakugo asked, having already forgotten what was so important about them.
"They're the governors of Hokkaido, Japan's most northernmost province," Yukine answered. "They're the kind of people that would give 'rich folks' a bad name."
"So you hid your name because you hate your parents?" Bakugo questioned.
"It's more than that," Yukine answered rather harshly.
She didn't hold back on her hatred for her parents. Instead of a life of luxury and privilege as most people suspected she'd have, it was a troubled home where her parents didn't care about her happiness, only about their reputation. She was always punished for even the slightest offence against them, whether it be a simple grounding or a beating. There was no room in the mansion for her happiness or desires, only for their 'perfect daughter'.
But even then, it was more than just her parents. All the people she met in her life only cared about her for one reason: the fact that she was a Kuraokami. Her name, her wealth, her status were all those people cared about when they interacted with her. Even the boys her parents tried to set her up with often only cared about her family name rather than herself as a person.
"All my life, people only cared about me for one reason and that was my name," Yukine continued. "My parents only cared about me when I could be of use to their 'family reputation' or whatever. I won't be their tool for the sake of their stupid egos."
"So you wanted to be known for your own merits rather than your family name," Bakugo deduced, realizing he was correct from earlier.
"Yeah, and I've been doing nothing but pissing them off since I got here," she informed shamelessly. "I mean, I've been working a part-time job and living at a motel just so I won't have to live in that stupid suite they provided." Bakugo smiled, much to Yukine's confusion.
"Good to know someone like you understands, Ice Queen," he said. "Your name shouldn't mean a damn thing. It shouldn't determine how much respect you get or give; it's your own actions that matter. If your parents want to be respected just because they're rich, then they're just stupid. I'm guessing they tried to get you in on recommendation, but you gave them the finger and got in through the Entrance Exam instead."
"Pretty much. I can't tell you how pissed they were when they found out, then they had the gall to…" She stopped.
"To what?" Bakugo asked.
"To basically act like I needed to apologize," Yukine answered. Bakugo sensed that wasn't what she was going to say, but he didn't care. He knew why Yukine had tried to hide her name…and for that, he was growing to respect her.
Despite his colossal ego, he hated the idea of people thinking they deserved stuff simply because they came from wealth and money. He strongly believed that a family name was ultimately worthless in the world of heroes; why should anyone care if someone's parents were rich and famous or they had were the heirs to major companies? If a family name alone decided someone's worth to becoming a hero, then there'd be very few heroes in the world.
To Bakugo, two things made a true hero: strength and winning. A true hero fought whatever challenges were ahead of him, no matter the difficulty. A true hero always triumphed against any opponent that went against them, no matter the numbers. A true hero always sought an undisputed and absolute victory, no matter the challenges. A true hero would never stop growing strong, always pushing forward, never letting any obstacles stop them. No family name, no amount of riches would ever compensate for that.
"Maybe I've got another rival after all," Bakugo spoke. "I'll kill you and everyone else and prove I'm the greatest!"
"Huh, and you call me cocky?" Yukine replied with a smirk.
"Shut up!" Bakugo rebuked. "I'm the one who beat you, remember!?"
Just as Bakugo started respecting Yukine, the Snowstorm user reciprocated that respect. He didn't care at all for her family name, especially one that belonged to a governor. Family names ultimately meant nothing; all that mattered was the individual. Would they have the determination to pursue the goal they desired or would they sit back and let their family name give them whatever they want? Yukine refused to be one of those people and she was happy to see that neither Yaoyorozu nor Todoroki were like that either.
"Well, I better call it a day," Yukine said. "I have a date tonight. Cute boy from General Studies."
"WHAT!?" Bakugo roared, creating explosions on his hands. "The Sports Festival is only two weeks away and you're going on a date!?"
"Relax, Bakugo," Yukine responded. "We all need some downtime, don't we?" She then smirked mischievously.
"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were jealous."
"I'LL KILL YOU!" Bakugo roared as he launched himself at Yukine, who used her own Quirk to fly away from the raging Explosion Quirk user.
Two young boys were playing with action figures in the upstairs room of their house, one of them with All Might and the other Endeavor. The two of them made special effect sounds as they played, the All Might boy making wind and punch sounds while the other making fire noises. They stopped when they heard the front door open and close. They froze in fear as they suspected who it was, so one of them slowly creaked the door open to look down the stairs.
As they expected, their dad was home. He walked into the living room and then to the kitchen, presumably where his wife, the boys' mother was.
"Honey," she greeted. "I hope your day was well."
"Shut up," he spoke. "Where the hell's dinner?"
"Honey, it's not ready yet," the mother spoke. The two boys slowly closed the door, anticipating what would happen next.
"What do you mean 'not ready'?!" the father shouted angrily. "I work hard at my job all day and it's too much for you to have dinner ready when I get home, you dumb bitch!?"
"We just had an accident," she claimed. "Please understand-" There was a cry of pain following a loud slap. The boys knew what happened: their father had hit their mother out of anger.
"Do NOT talk back to me!" he barked angrily. "I do so much for you and yet you can't be bothered to do one small thing for me!" A loud noise of metal clanging and glass breaking was heard, their father having knocked over stuff on the counter and onto the floor.
"You want a mess to clean up? Here you go! Clean this shit up! BOYS! Get down here and help clean your mom's mess!" Neither of the boys responded and quickly locked the door before making their way into the closet to hide.
"Hey, I said come down here and clean up this mess now, you good-for-nothing shits!" Again, the boys wouldn't respond to their abusive father. Even if they did come down there, they'd be subjected to the same abuse he had inflicted on them for years.
"Boys, if you don't get down here, I'll come up there and beat the hell out of both of you!" Yet again, the boys didn't respond.
His loud footsteps could be heard coming up the stairs to the boys' room, causing them to not breathe out of fear. When the dad found out the door was locked, he pounded on it violently and screamed profanity at the two young boys. He kept hitting it again and again until eventually, the lock broke and he walked into the room…with an iron poker in his hands. He then made his way over the closet, the only place big enough to hide both of them, tore open the door and grabbed the younger brother.
"You little shits!" he barked angrily and brought the iron poker down on the younger brother. As the father hit the little boy, there was a gleam in his eyes, a sense of satisfaction as he watched his son cry from the pain of being hit.
"Leave him alone!" the older brother pleaded, but the father merely grabbed him by the throat and bashed his head against the wall, causing it to bleed.
"Daddy, stop!" the younger brother cried, trying to break free from his father's grasp.
"Shut up!" he barked. "You don't disrespect me! You need a good-"
A whistle. Before the father could strike again again, a whistle filled the house. It was ominous, somber...almost like a warning. But the father brushed it off and prepared to hit his young son.
He felt a searing pain in his hand, causing him to drop the iron poker and scream in pain. He turned to the doorway and saw a broad-shouldered man clad in black and red armor and a red mask with black stripes, almost appearing like a tiger. In his right hand was a handgun, a Glock 19 9mm, the gun he had used to shoot the man's hand.
"Who the hell are you!?" he barked angrily and tried to attack the black armored man, who effortlessly blocked his arm, forced him to the ground and then broke his arm. The father cried in pain before he was lifted up and thrown down the staircase, crashing into the front door. The mother gasped in shock as she saw her husband on the ground.
"Master," another black-armored person spoke, clad in a black cloak and wielding a long scythe with a two more hand scythes on his belt. He walked down the stairs behind his 'Master'. "He's been abusing them for years. He even just made this mess and hit his wife just because she didn't have dinner ready. You said how ungrateful she was and how much you worked for the family, then for that, you beat her."
"Wha- how do you know!?" the drunken father gasped. "You don't know what you're talking about!" The taller armored man grabbed the father by the throat, slammed him against the wall and punched him mercilessly in the face.
"STOP!" he cried out and tried to stop the beating.
"Are you crying for mercy?" the armored gunman questioned angrily. "How many times did your boys and wife beg for mercy when you beat them? How many times!?"
"They deserved it!" the scythe user barked, though acting as though he was the father. "I do so much for this family and yet they have the gall to disrespect me! They deserved every beating I give them!"
"Huh!?" the dad gasped, realizing the hooded scythe user just said his thoughts aloud. The hooded man then spoke in a child's voice.
"Why is Daddy so mean? What's happening? Why would he beat us up so much?"
"Who the hell is that freak!?" the dad barked before Fukushu punched him so hard, half of his teeth fell out.
"Master Fukushu," the hooded man spoke in his normal tone. "He beats them because…he enjoys it. He enjoys hurting them, especially his wife when he rapes her. He's a sadist."
"Fukushu…?" the father gasped, his face now pale with horror as he looked at the striped mask the assailant wore. Words couldn't describe the fear he felt as he was in the grasp of one of Japan's most brutal vigilantes.
"Shinogama, get the boys and their mother out of here," Fukushu instructed.
"They're mine!" the father shouted, only to be met by Fukushu punching him again.
"You beat them mercilessly out of sadism," Fukushu growled, reaching behind his belt and producing a large knife. "They cried for mercy every time you hurt them, yet their pleas fell on deaf ears. Now you cry for mercy? You didn't stop when they cried for mercy, so why should I?"
"They're nothing without me!" the father justified as Shinogama took the family out the back.
"Why would Daddy hurt us so much?" Shinogama spoke again in a child's voice. "What did we do to deserve such pain?" Then in a woman's "My husband just needed time. He'd come around." Shinogama kept shaking his head as he helped the family out as if trying to get something out of his hair. His breathing was heavy and deep as if gasping for breath.
"What's going on?" he spoke again in a child's voice, much to the shock of one of the boys. "Who are these people?"
"Nothing justifies the brutality you put them through," Fukushu spoke to the father in a very threatening manner. "You would come up with whatever excuse you could to beat them because you enjoyed seeing them suffer. Now, I will show you the mercy you showed them: none."
After the police were called, they hurried to the house where they reported seeing Fukushu. But by the time they arrived, it was too late and they walked in to a gruesome sight: the father was hung by his neck on the ceiling fan, his arms and legs severed, his eyes gouged out and the lower half of his mouth torn off. It was easy to tell that the man had died in agony.
"Fukushu, that bastard," one of the policemen spoke with disgust. "Is this what he calls justice?"
"Over here!" another policeman called out. On the wall in the dining room, two words were written in the father's blood: the first one was 'Abuser' and the other was 'Rapist'.
"This is just inhumane," one of the policemen condemned. "How many lives will he take before he stops?"
"He won't," the Lion Hero: Shishido, stated as he walked into the room. "Fukushu will keep killing anyone he sees as corrupt and evil. He'll never stop. Even Hero Killer: Stain doesn't meet these levels of brutality."
As soon as Shishido heard Fukushu had been seen, he flew over as soon as possible, hoping to apprehend him. Unfortunately, he was too late. Every time Fukushu killed someone, he always evaded the law and other Pro Heroes and had been doing so for the past eight years. But one way or another, Shishido was determined to end his reign of terror.
"You hurt my sister and nephew," Shishido growled lowly. "For that, I'll make you pay."
