Chapter 9: The Chunin Exams Begin
Naru and Mamoru walked up to the red bridge where Team 7 met before every mission for the
past few months.
Sasuke like usual stood to the side brooding while Sakura stood next to him staring at the Uchiha
with hearts in her eyes as she cooed about his coolness.
Naru leaned against the bridge and adjusted her fan, she was finally carrying it with her, it took
her over a month to master the new jutsu's Sarutobi had gotten her from Sunagakure.
The three genin had grown pretty close but still had their differences, Sasuke was opening up to
the team, Sakura had started to train more and become serious on her training, but she was still
hopelessly obsessed with the Uchiha. Naru was slowly opening up to them but not by much, and
Kakashi he hadn't really bothered Naru ever since Iruka snapped at him, he watched Naru closely
and still tried to figure out what was wrong with her but didn't pester Naru.
Naru sat on the railing and thought about her jutsu's. "Naru?" she shook her head and looked at
the Uchiha that called her name.
"Hm?"
"What's up with the rectangle?" he asked.
"Oh, it's my new weapon. It's a fan." she said.
"What's a fan gonna do?" Sakura sneered, Naru sent her a glare.
"A lot, it's more effect then some little kunai." she said and sighed, she felt the chakra spike and
looked up as Kakashi appeared on top of the bridge.
"Yo."
"You're late!" Sakura snarled, he chuckled and jumped down.
"I know, but this time I have a real reason." he said and smiled. "I have a surprise for you all, I
have recommended you for the chunin exams." he said.
"Chunin exams?" Sakura asked.
"Yes, they are being held here this time, so here are your papers." he said and passed them out.
"Sign them and bring them to the academy in room 302 on Friday morning, make sure you meet
me at noon, no later." he said. "Alright?"
"Hai!" they all said, he smiled.
"Dismissed." he said, they set out talking a little, Naru stashed her paper in her pocket.
"So, what exactly can that fan do?" Sasuke asked, Naru heard the genuine curiosity in his voice.
"Well, I can pour my chakra in it and when I swing it, wind will shoot out powered by my chakra
and it can clear an area, knock someone off their feet and even trap them, but I haven't got the last
one down yet." she said and shrugged.
"Cool." he said. "How long did it take you to master it?"
"A little over a month, it's pretty easy to handle." she said and pulled it off and opened it.
"Can I try?" he asked, she handed it to him, he held it and opened it. "This is specially made..." he
said.
"Yeah, it will take a lot for this to be damaged." she said and closed it as he gave it back, she slid
in place and adjusted it.
"Leave me alone!" a boy's voice called, Naru's recognized it as Konohamaru, the third's
grandson.
"What's going on?" she said, they walked up.
"Naru-nee-chan." Moegi said and tugged her arm. "That boy is picking on Konohamaru!" she
said.
"Let him go." Naru said, the boy looked at her and snorted.
"Mind your own business." he sneered.
"Kankuro, knock it off, let's go." the girl behind him said.
"Why? I thought Konoha brats were top notch ninja's, we've got a few minutes before he gets
here, let's mess these brats up."
"LET GO!" Konohamaru cried and kicked at him, Naru stepped forward.
"I suggest you let him go." she said and reached for her fan again while Mamoru growled.
"Am I supposed to be scared of you and your cat?" he sneered and laughed.
"Who are you?" Sakura asked.
"Annoying kids. I wanna snap him in half." he said and raised his fists.
"Whatever." the girl said, Konohamaru cried out in fear, a pebble shot forward and caught
Kankuro's fist, he cried out and glared, Sasuke stood to the side.
"Put him down." he said and crushed the pebble, Temari blushed.
"Sasuke-kun!" Sakura said and sighed.
"Am I supposed to be scared of you too?" he said and snorted, Naru ran forward, Kankuro snorted
and jerked his pinky, Naru jumped in the air and flipped, he gasped and threw Konohamaru down
and swung at her, she ripped her fan out and his fist met her fan, he hissed in pain and held his
throbbing hand, she swiped her fan and knocked him off his feet, she put her fan away.
"Get out of here." Naru said.
"Little brat!" Kankuro said.
"Kankuro, let's go, he'll be here soon."
"Temari, chill out." he said. "I'm gonna pummel you!"
"Kankuro, Temari enough." they turned and saw a boy standing on the fence behind Sasuke, he
froze and looked at the boy. "You both are an embarrassment to our village." he said.
"H...hey G...Gaara." Kankuro stuttered.
'How did he do that without a sound? Only jounin like Kakashi can move like that.' Sasuke
thought. Gaara looked at Sasuke then at Naru.
"But Gaara... you just- uh – see what happened was -"
"Shut up." he said.
"Ri...right. I was totally out of line." he said, Gaara jumped down, Naru almost gagged at the
smell from him, Mamoru cringed.
"We didn't come here to play games, let's go."
"Right." Kankuro said.
"Wait! Hey! Why are you here?!"
"Duh! For the chunin exams, why else would we be here pinky?" Temari said, Sakura blushed and
glared.
"Well you still need a passport, so let's see it!"
"I don't have to show you anything little brat! Now shut up."
"Wait! Who are you?" Sasuke asked stepped forward.
"Me?" Temari asked smiling.
"No, him with the gourd on his back." he said.
"My name is Gaara of the desert, who are you?"
"I'm Uchiha Sasuke." he said.
"And you?" he asked looking at Naru, Sasuke looked at her, Mamoru bumped her.
"Uzumaki Naru." she said, Gaara looked at her closely then hummed. Tsk...Damn Kyuubi... He
blinked then looked at Naru more closely, Sasuke glared at him and shifted closer towards her just
in case, Gaara hummed and walked away followed by Temari and Kankuro.
Naru gulped a little, her hand shook showing nerves. "Naru-nee-chan! That so cool!"
Konohamaru said, she smiled at him.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
"Yes!" he said and smiled, she chuckled.
"Good, I... I gotta go." she said, Mamoru let her climb on and both took off.
"Naru are you okay?" Mamoru asked as they jumped.
"I don't know, he's – that Gaara kid, something is strange about him, all I could smell was blood."
"I know, I smelled the same." he said. "Maybe you should ask Ojii-san." he said, Naru nodded.
"Let's go." she said, and both headed to the Hokage tower.
"Sorry Naru-chan, but the Hokage is in a meeting right now, no one is allowed to see him at the
moment. You can wait in the office, if you like." Izumo said, Naru nodded and walked to the door
and walked in and sat on the couch with Mamoru.
An hour passed before she felt Sarutobi's chakra come to the door and paused as he talked to what
she guessed was Izumo, he opened it.
"Hello Naru-chan." he said, she smiled as he shut the door. "What can I do for you?" he asked.
"The chunin exams."
"Yes?"
"Are there others coming from different countries?"
"Yes, we have them from a lot of different places." he said. "Why?"
"We just met some... kinda got into a small fight and I was just wondering, I didn't like the one."
"Well if you got into a fight with him..."
"No not this one, all I could smell was blood." she said, Sarutobi straightened. "One was picking
on Konohamaru and I got him free and when this other showed up, he acted like he was scared of
his shadow." she said.
"Hm." he said with a frown.
"I think he said his name was Gaara." she said.
"Yes, I've heard of him, he's from Sunagakure." he said, Naru blinked. "He's the Kazekage's son."
he said. "Not much is known about him, just be careful."
"I will." she said and smiled.
"So, you carry your fan now?"
"Yes." she said. "Sasuke was interested in it." she said and chuckled, Sarutobi chuckled.
"Well, once you decide on whether you want to do the chunin exams come to me." he said, she
nodded.
"Okay." she said and smiled. "I'm gonna practice a little." she said and left with a wave, he smiled
and got to working on his papers.
Later that night Naru sat on the roof of her apartment silently thinking, Mamoru came out and
stood below her.
"Naru?"
"I'll be in shortly." she said. "I'm just thinking." she said.
"Okay." he said and walked back inside.
'Should I take the exams? Will I even be able to handle the challenges the way I am...' She
thought.
She perked up when she felt chakra land behind her, she blinked as steps sounded closer and
stood behind her.
"What do you want?" she asked, her heart beating hard.
"To speak." she frowned as she recognized the voice that belonged to Gaara.
"Sit..." she said, he sat next to her, she sighed quietly. "What?" she asked.
"You caught my interest." he said, she blinked a few times in shock.
"What about me?"
"Well, you were able to damage Kankuro's hand, which is pretty easy but." he shrugged, Naru
smirked a little. "Well, I just want to know, do you have a special power?" he asked, her heart
skipped a little.
"Wh...what do you mean?" she asked.
"Well, I heard something, that sounded something like... Kyuubi?" he said, she stiffened and
gulped.
"So, it's true." he said, she hunched slightly. "Don't worry." he said, she looked at him confusion
all over her face. "I mean, I won't tell." he said, she nodded.
"Why?" she asked.
"Why what?"
"Why won't you tell?"
"We're more alike than you know." he said, she frowned and turned her head.
"So, you're here for the chunin exams?"
"Yes." he said. "Are you taking them?"
"I'm still deciding." she said. "So, from what I got from earlier, your teammates are scared of
you." she said, he sighed.
"They're my brother and sister." he said, Naru nodded. "Everyone is scared of me." he said and
sighed.
"And you just want to be accepted." she said.
"Yeah."
"Same here." she said.
"Because of him?"
"Yeah, why you?"
"Like I said, we're alike..." he said and chuckled. "You hold 9, and I hold 1." he said.
"Shukaku the one tail?" she said.
"Yes, you know him?"
"I have learned a lot of things." she said and smiled. "I've had to."
"How do you stay so...bright?"
"Well, I've found that I have some anchors in my life that's kept me from slipping into the
darkness." she said.
"Anchors?"
"Yeah, like I have my two close friends Shikamaru and Hinata and I have Mamoru."
"He's the snow leopard right?"
"Yeah." she said.
"I've never thought about it... I've been alone my whole life." he said, she smiled a little.
"Well, if you want, I could be one for you."
"Hm?"
"An anchor." she said and smiled in his direction.
"Really?"
"Yep." she said.
"Thanks." he said, she smiled at him, he sighed and looked out at the sky, Naru yawned, he
smirked. "I have to go, I'll see you later?"
"Yeah!" she said and smiled, he got up and turned. "Oh and..." he said, she glanced in his
direction. "Your secret is safe with me."
"Huh?"
"A blind ninja can be anything she wants to be." he said and disappeared, Naru stared in shock,
her jaw slightly open in shock.
Mamoru came out and looked at Naru, he frowned. "Naru?" he asked, she shook her head and slid
down. "Are you okay?" he asked.
"I'm fine Mamoru." she said and smiled, she crawled into bed and he followed but stayed awake
on guard for a few hours before he fell asleep.

Naru walked out with Mamoru the next day at noon, she yawned slightly and sighed, both headed
to the Hokage office. Naru walked next to Mamoru as steps sounded and Mamoru hugged Naru
closer to the wall as an older man walked past, he had bandages wrapped around his head and
over his right eye, he had a cane in his one hand and the other was hidden from view, he looked at
Naru and stared, Mamoru let out a low rumble.
"Mamoru?" she said, he tugged her faster, he glanced back and watched the man leave.
"Mamoru?"
"Sorry Naru, but I didn't trust that one."
"Who was it?"
"I don't know... just be careful." he said, she nodded.
She knocked on the door and heard Sarutobi call her in, she smiled at him. "Naru-chan, what can I
do for you?"
"I'm going to take them." she said, he smiled.
"I'm glad to hear that." he said. "But you know I can't help you as much with the other tests and
such."
"I know, but if I don't try then I'll never grow." she said, he smiled.
"Very true..." he said, she smiled and he helped her sign the paper then she left, he frowned a little
then pulled out a scroll that held the information for the chunin exams and hummed quietly
getting to work to give her at least a small advantage.

Friday rolled around quickly and Naru sighed as she got ready, she fixed her hair and tied her
Hitai-ate around her head. "Good?"
"Yep." Mamoru said, she smiled and grabbed her weapon pouch and bit her lip. "What's wrong?"
"Well, what if we have a survival test or something?"
"They'll probably give a few minute break between, if they do, we'll run here and grab your
things."
"Okay." she said and nodded, she sighed and walked out, she grabbed a sandwich and gave one to
Mamoru, both ate quickly and headed out, Mamoru traveled over the roofs and jumped down to
the academy doors and waited, Sasuke came up a few minutes later followed by Sakura.
"Ready?" he asked, both girls nodded and they walked into the building and walked down the
halls.
A large group of kids stood in the hall talking quietly, there was a cry and a boy was kicked back
by two leaf kids.
"If you can't even make it past this point you won't make it to the chunin exams." the one sneered.
Sasuke looked around carefully, Naru titled her head. 'Are we in a genjutsu?' She thought.
Sasuke stepped up and sighed. "Why don't you just drop the genjutsu and get out of our way."
"What makes you think you can make it?"
"I beat your obvious genjutsu, you're not scaring us." Sasuke said. "Sakura, Naru lets go." he said,
they smirked and followed the Uchiha through while the others whispered in shock.
"Well, well..." the two chunin guarding the doors said, they gasped as the sign changed from 302
to 102, they set out slowly. "That's the brats Kakashi was talking about huh?"
"They may have beaten this test, but it won't get any easier."
"Yeah." their henge faded from their body turning them back into Izumo and Kotetsu's actual
ages.
"It seems the exams this year are going to be interesting and fun."
"For us, not for them."
"Wait!" they turned and Sakura cringed at the boy standing there, he was a practically skin tight,
full body, green leotard with orange leg warmers and had a bowl cut and huge eyebrows.
"What?" Sasuke asked.
"You, what is your name?" he asked looking at Sakura.
"Uh... Sakura."
"Please be my girlfriend." he said, she screamed and shook her head.
"NO!" she snarled. "You look so freaky! You weirdo!" she snarled, Naru shook her head at
Sakura's shallowness.
"You don't have to be so mean." he said. "My name is Lee." he said. "What about you?"
"Uchiha Sasuke."
"Uchiha?"
"Yes." he said, Naru rolled her eyes at his smugness.
"Fight me."
"What?" Sasuke said.
"Fight me." he said.
"No." he said and walked away with both Sakura and Naru in tow.
Lee followed them and jumped down in front of them, Sakura growled. "Listen you freak! We
gotta get to the testing room!" she snarled.
"You are very pretty on the outside but ugly on the inside." he said, she gasped and looked down,
Naru snorted and nodded.
"Move."
"You know I am the best genin of my year, I want to see if you can keep up with me."
"Me keep up with you? You got that backwards." Sasuke said.
"I know all about your clan, Uchiha, they hold the sharingan, it is capable of copying your
opponents jutsu's perfectly."
"You know but you still want to fight?"
"Yes." he said.
"Fine." Sasuke said. "You think you know about my clan, I'll teach you that you don't, the hard
way!" he said.
"Sasuke-kun! We have less than 30 minutes to get to the room." Sakura said.
"This will be done in 5 minutes." he said and launched.
"Leaf spinning wind!" Lee yelled, Sasuke ducked then gasped as Lee moved quickly. 'I can't
dodge, gotta block!' He thought and brought his arms up, Lee closed his eyes and Sasuke cried
out as Lee's foot connected with his cheek and he hit the ground and rolled and got up.
'What's going on!?' He thought.
'He had his block up, but Lee went right through it.' Sakura thought.
'Sounds like Sasuke's getting his ass kicked...' Naru thought.
"I got you right where I want ya!" he said his eyes shining red.
"The sharingan..." Sakura whispered swooning. 'If his sharingan's like Kakashi-sensei's is, he'll
be able to beat this freak no problem.' She thought.
Sasuke ran out and before he could even react to block Lee appeared under him and kicked
straight up, his foot connecting with Sasuke's chin and sent him in the air.
'WHAT!?' Sasuke thought.
"Whoa..." Mamoru mumbled, Naru cocked her head wondering what was going on.
Sasuke looked as Lee appeared under him as he flew in the air. "Dancing leaf shadow."
"You are correct."
"Yeah right!" he said and swung down, Lee moved again and Sasuke turned and Lee's foot
connected to his stomach and he hit the ground and skidded on the ground and groaned in pain, he
held his stomach coughing.
"How?"
"You should not judge a book by its cover." Lee said. "But I did lie, I'm not even the strongest
genin compared to my teammate Neji Hyuuga." he said.
'Is he in this exam too? I wonder what Hina will do...' Naru thought knowing how Neji felt about
Hinata already from what Hinata told her about how the boy treats her, even how her own father
treats her.
"What is that?" Sasuke asked getting up.
"Your sharingan may be able see through genjutsu and ninjutsu but I use taijutsu, even if it can
keep up with my moves, if your body can't keep up, then it is useless like I just proved." he said,
Sasuke growled and looked away a nasty bruise already forming on his cheek and chin.
"You were a good starting opponent." he said, Sasuke growled and charged, Mamoru and Naru
launched in between them, Sasuke grunted and stopped.
"Both of you stop. We don't have the time, so stop." Naru said.
"Stay out of it Naru. It's none of your business!" Sasuke snarled and ran past, Naru pulled out her
fan out and jumped off of Mamoru and slung her fan open, a gust of wind shot out knocking both
boys off their feet and crashing into the wall.
"It's part of the team so it does concern me. I'm not getting kicked out because you want to prove
something stupid! Get over it! He's stronger then you! Let it go!" she snarled, Sasuke growled,
Lee got up.
"You are very wise." Lee said, Naru sighed and fixed her fan.
"Let's go." she said and got on Mamoru's back and he walked to the steps. "I'll turn you in if you
keep it up." she said and continued on with Mamoru, the Uchiha glared at her but pulled himself
up and walked up jerking away from Sakura when she tried to look at his wounds, Lee got up and
watched Naru disappear in the hall. 'I wonder...' he thought.
Sasuke walked next to Naru silently still steaming over her stopping him in the fight, they looked
up and saw Kakashi leaning against the door.
"I'm glad you see you all here." he said, Naru cocked her head.
"What do you mean?" Sakura asked.
"Well this is a team test, so if one of you had not of shown, I couldn't let the others in." he said.
"So, why didn't you say that?" Sakura asked.
"Because this is a decision you have to make on your own, not influenced by the others, they
nodded. "But you can go in now! I'm proud of you." he said, they smiled and started in, Kakashi
watched Naru walk in, he sighed and shut the door and leaned against the wall, wanting to know
what his little students would do but his mind traveled back to over a week ago in the Hokage
office.
Flashback-
"Kakashi, you start." Sarutobi said as all the jounin leader's and chunin teachers were gathered
in the room so they could pick the ninja's that would be taking the chunin exams this time around.
Kakashi stepped forward and held his two fingers up like a single handed tiger sign in front of his
face. "I lead Team 7 composed of, Uchiha Sasuke, Uzumaki Naru and Haruno Sakura, and now I,
Hatake Kakashi recommend all three of them for the exams." Iruka who was gathered with the
chunin grunted quietly.
Kurenai stepped up next making the same sign as Kakashi. "My team is team 8, Hyuga Hinata,
Aburame Shino, and Inuzuka Kiba, and now I, Yuuhi Kurenai recommend all three for the exams."
she said, Iruka stif ened more and Asuma stepped forward.
"My team is team 10, Yamanaka Ino, Nara Shikamaru, and Akimichi Chouji, and now I, Sarutobi
Asuma recommend all three for the chunin exams." he said.
The others in the room muttered about the three recommending the rookies for the exams.
"Hold on just a minute now!" Iruka said pushing his way forward unable to hold his tongue any
longer. "I had every one of the 9 students just named, I know their strengths, and I know all of
them have great skills, but it's too soon! I think they need more experience before they tackle the
chunin exams, if they try now, they are sure to fail!" he said, Kakashi looked at the man.
"When I became a chunin, I was half the age Naru is now." he said.
"Naru is nothing like you!" he snarled. "Are you trying to destroy her?!" he snarled.
"Well, they're always complaining about not having hard enough missions, maybe flunking out of
the exams will do them some good." he said with a slight shrug. "No pain, no gain."
"What did you say!?" he snarled.
"Nothing fatal of course, but seriously Iruka, relax. I know how you feel, it's very personal and it
upsets you-"
"Enough Kakashi." Kurenai said.
"Actually Kurenai, Iruka needs to hear this, he needs to understand they are not his students
anymore, they're my soldiers." he said, Iruka growled a little, the others sighed.
"These exams could destroy them you know that!"
"As I said I believe Naru and-"
"You don't know anything about Naru! How can you just say that when you don't-"
"Iruka!" Sarutobi barked, he jumped then looked down and gulped hard, Kakashi looked between
the two confused. "Enough, you've made your point, move back." he said, the chunin scurried
back to spot mentally cursing himself for almost breaking his promise. "Let's continue."
-Flashback.
'I wish I was as sure as I sounded...' Kakashi thought. 'But how can I be, when I'm being lied to...'
Sakura whimpered in fear as she looked at the room that was full of people glaring at them with
smirks.
"Sasuke-kun!" a voice called, Sakura snarled as Ino threw herself on the boy, he growled and
shoved the girl off rubbed his still sore shoulder.
"INO-PIG!" Sakura snarled. "GET AWAY FROM SASUKE-KUN!" she snarled.
"Why if it isn't Sakura, big ugly forehead as always." Ino said, Sakura growled with a blush.
"You leave my forehead alone!" she said.
"So, you guys are taking this stupid thing too?" Shikamaru said. "What a drag."
"Hey Shika." Naru said, he smiled and walked up next to her and bumped her, she chuckled, Ino
looked at the two for a second then turned her eyes back to the Uchiha.
"Well this should be interesting." Chouji said and ate from his bag of chips.
"Sasuke-kun is mine!" Ino said tugging the boy closer, he growled as both girls tried to tug at him.
"Knock it off!" he snarled glaring at them, they blushed and looked down upset that their crush
yelled at them.
"Found ya!" they turned.
"Hey." Hinata said walking up to Naru as well.
"Hi Hina." Naru said.
"Hey Hinata." Shikamaru said looking at Hinata's team.
"So the rookie 9 are together again." Kiba said, Akamaru yapped, Chouji looked at the little dog
thinking he looked pretty darn good at the moment.
"You seem too confident Kiba." Sasuke said.
"Yeah, we've been training, we won't lose to you." he sneered.
"What do you think we've done?" Naru said.
"Obviously not as much as we've done." he said.
"He doesn't mean that Naru..." Hinata said.
"You guys should be more quiet..." a boy said walking up, they looked over at the boy, he had
silver hair pulled into a spiky ponytail, he wore large rim glasses and a tall collar purple shirt with
gray sleeves and purple pants, and he had a Konoha Hitai-ate on his forehead. "You guys are fresh
from the academy right? You got some guts." he said. "This isn't a picnic."
"Who are you?" Ino asked.
"I'm Kabuto... see what I mean." he said and pointed, they turned and gulped as they saw all the
ninja's glaring at them. "Those guys are from Rain, they have short tempers." he said pointing.
"So I would quiet down before you make a scene, but I can't blame you rookies, you remind me
of how I used to be." he said.
"Kabuto-san... right?"
"Yeah."
"Is this your second time?"
"Nope, my seventh. This exam is held twice a year, so this is my fourth year."
"So, you know a lot about the exam."
"That's right."
"Whoa." Naru said.
"Heh, so I guess I'll share some info with you cute little rookies."
"How?"
"With these ninja info cards." he said and pulled out a stack of orange cards.
"What's that?" Sasuke asked.
"These cards have all the information on them, but they are special, they will only respond to my
chakra, otherwise they're blank." he said and held a card out and a map appeared showing who all
was there for the exams.
"Do you have information on people?"
"Yeah, someone you concerned about?" he asked, Sasuke nodded.
"Rock Lee from Leaf." he said. "And Gaara from the sand."
"You know their names? It's too easy like that." he said and chuckled and pulled out two cards.
"Let's start with Lee. He's a year older then you, he's had 20 D-ranks, 12 C-ranks, his sensei is
someone named Might Gai, his taijutsu is very high, the rest is not." he said. "He was pretty good
but refused to take the exams last year." he said. "He's a newbie like you, his teammates at Hyuga
Neji and Tenten." he said, Hinata slunk a little hearing Neji's name.
"Okay and Gaara?" Sasuke asked.
"He's had 8 C-ranks, and wow! 1 B-rank, as a genin, that's rare. That's it, he's new so I don't have
much, but it does say that no matter what mission he's come back unharmed, not even a scratch on
the guy." he said.
"So, what countries are in the exam his year?" Naru asked.
"Leaf, Sand, Rain, Grass, Waterfall and Sound, a bunch of amazing ninja's here, although Sound
is very small, just recently discovered." he said.
"Almost makes you wanna lose your confidence..." Hinata said.
"No." Naru said and smiled. "Doesn't matter one bit, we're gonna beat all of these people!" she
said, they chuckled.
"You troublesome idiot, you're gonna piss people off." Shikamaru said, she stuck her tongue out

Kakashi smirked as he listened to them chat, he sighed and walked away. 'They should be fine.'
He thought.
"Naru! You're gonna get us killed!" Sakura snarled, Naru rolled her eyes.
Three ninja wearing sound symbols on their Hitai-ate's, stood in the middle of the room.
"Did you hear that? He called sound little." the girl said.
"Let's show him what happens when you mess with sound." the other boy said who had bandages
wrapped all around his head except on his left eye, he wore a baggy shirt with long sleeves that
hung way down to the ground.
They raced forward barely seen and charged at the Kabuto, he smirked and dodged their swing,
Kabuto skidded back, and the one with his face bandaged appeared below him and swung his fist,
Kabuto dodged again. Naru gasped and grabbed her ears in pain.
'Hidden sound huh?' He thought.
'Good speed...' Sasuke thought.
Kabuto stopped and smirked as he looked at the three as they stood there, suddenly he let out a
gasp and his glasses cracked. 'I see, it was this kind of attack.'
"What's going on?! He dodged it, so how did his glasses break?" Sasuke said.
Kabuto coughed and fell to his knees and emptied his stomach and panted.
"Kabuto-san?!" Sakura said. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm- I'm fine." he stuttered and looked at the three sound genin.
"How pathetic, this being your fourth year." the other boy on the team said. "Write this down on
your little cards. ' the three sound ninja's will change the chunin exams!'" he said and chuckled.
There was a loud pop of smoke and they turned to see a good size group of adult ninja's in the
front behind a man who wore all black and had a Hitai-ate on his head that covered the top of it,
he had scars all over his face.
"Alright quiet down you worthless brats!" he snarled. "Now that I have your attention, I am
Morino Ibiki, I am the proctor for the first part of the exam." he said, many of them gulped at his
mean and terrifying stature. "And you sound ninja in the back, knock it off before I fail you all!"
he said.
"It's our first time, we got carried away, sorry." the boy said with a smirk.
"I warn you all now, if any of you have unauthorized fight during these exam's, you will be failed
instantly, am I understood?!" he growled, they gulped. "Good." he said seeing the fear on their
face. "Now, each of you will turn in your papers and get a number in return." he said holding up a
paper that had a number 1 on it. "This number will determine where you will sit." he said. "We'll
begin the written exam once you're all seated."
Naru blinked a few times then her eyes widened as it sunk in. "A... a... wr...written test?" she
said, Shikamaru glanced at her, she gulped hard and held Mamoru's collar tight in fear.
