August 4th, 1985 The Swan Ranch: Forks

Geoffrey sat by the fire staring into it as his darling wife mumbled behind him.

"I'm sure he was coming today, Geoffrey?"

His dark brown eyes flickered with sadness as he looked up at his wife, still radiant as ever even if her mind had started to play tricks on her.

"Charlie left this morning for Port Angeles, darling."

"On a Wednesday?"

Geoffrey stood and turned to look down at his wife who was scrunching her nose. He reached out and smoothed the wrinkles that appeared on her forehead due to the expression.

"It's Sunday, Helen."

"No that's not right...is it?" Her hand covered her eyes, "It's happened again. I've forgotten, haven't I?"

He pulled his wife into his arms, ignoring how his joints ached from the movement. He kissed her forehead, it was heartbreaking to see such a vivacious woman's mind deteriorating like this.

Suddenly a shiver went down his spine. The smell of ozone in the air like at the wake a large storm filtered through the air. A ripple of something powerful passed through the both of them causing them to gasp as memories from another life came upon them. Of who they were before Geoffrey and Helen Swan. Of before they settled in a world where magic had become extinct only a dusting of old legends left behind.

Another name for their beloved at the tip of their tongue before they shook their heads and turned them towards the door the feeling that life as they knew it was going to change again.

"Magic has returned."

Hand in hand they made their way to the front door only to open it to find a young woman with glowing emerald eyes and two small babes in her arms.

"Godric? Helga?" Her voice was uncertain as she looked at the two of them.

Geoffrey chuckled, "We haven't been called such in many years. I expect we don't look much like our portraits either?"

The young woman shook her head. A whimper came from her arms as one of the babes began to wake.

"Come in out of the cold." Helen ushered the young woman in and Geoffrey noticed she came with no luggage only a small beaded bag that hung from her arm.

Helen's gaze was upon the babes her eyes sparkling with joy. "Come sit by the fire. Geoffrey, go get the young lady something warm to drink. May I help hold one of your babes?"

Assessing eyes connected with Helen's before the woman nodded. Helen bent forward and lifted the nearest child into her arms. A little boy with dark brown hair who as he yawned and blinked up at her with the truest blue eyes she'd ever seen.

"What's your name, little one?"

"That's Teddy," The young woman nodded toward the boy before returning her attention to the baby girl in her arms, "and this is Dahlia."

"And you my dear?"

"Hazel Potter-Black." She deftly rummaged one handily in her purse bringing out a bottle that she gave to the baby girl who was whimpering.

When Geoffrey came back with some hot chocolate he set on the table beside the young woman.

"You brought our magic back with you." He glanced at his wife, "My magic is already healing my arthritis."

Helen nodded, "Just so. It seems it's time for us to repay the favor we asked all those years ago. Hazel," the young woman glanced up meeting Helen's eyes. "Our home is open to you. We will support you in whatever you've come to do."

Hazel shook her head, "I don't wish us to burden you. We only left our dimension so we could live a happy peaceful life, that is all I wish for my children and I."

Helen smiled, "You will never be a burden. This house has needed some life breathed into it again. Please stay with us." She elbowed her husband and Geoffrey cleared his throat before speaking.

"We have an empty nest, you see. Our son only visits on the weekends, while he's at the police academy during the week. Helen is right, it would be a honor for you to stay with us. One question though: What house were you?"

Helen rolled her eyes, "Hardly matters Geoffrey."

"Gryffindor, sir."

Geoffrey grinned, "Even more reason for you to stay."

Hazel smiled at the two, before glancing at the content Teddy in Helen's arms.

"I would love to."
