Chapter: What Am I?

.

.

.

As I gradually regained consciousness, I sensed that I was submerged in some sort of liquid. Strangely, it didn't impede my ability to breathe. My body felt unusually heavy like it was filled with lead, and I struggled to open my eyes, my head throbbing with confusion.

"Where am I?" I wondered aloud. "The last thing I remember, I was engaged in some risky activity, but I can't quite recall what it was. Perhaps an extreme sport of some kind," I attempted to piece together my fragmented memories.

'And I probably had an accident. Am I in the hospital now? That sucks,' I thought when I heard some fuzzy footsteps.

"So.. from… b.. sea… fo.. d by guards?" a fuzzy voice questioned.

'Oh! They found me at sea. A surfing accident? A lifeguard saved me? I should thank them,' I deduced.

"God, wh.. t. do wi.. him?" another fuzzy voice asked.

'God? Ah, yes, I remember something now,' I gasped. 'I believe I had an encounter with a divine being or some higher power. They mentioned something along the lines of, 'Since you're bored with your current life, I'll send you to a place where you'll never experience boredom again,'' I recalled, making an effort to piece together the strange dreamlike memory.

'Then I died and reincarnated here,' I surmised. "I've read my fair share of novels with similar themes. Could it be that I've been reborn as an infant or transferred into a new body?" I pondered, straining to listen to their conversation.

I concluded. 'I have read many novels about it, so am I reborn as a baby or transmigrated into a new body?' I speculated, trying to hear their conversation.

When I tried to move, my body felt resistant. 'I am in some liquid!' I remembered.

'Am I in a womb? It's going to be a pain in the ass to be a baby again,' I groaned, thinking about the difficulties of a baby.

'But when am I going to be born, I wonder? Wait a moment, if I'm still enclosed in this liquid, how can I hear their conversation? This is rather perplexing,' I muttered, my head still clouded.

"How o.. d is he?" God asked.

"Proba…, On... I th.. k," replied the doctor.

"Well, afte.. he ge.. us.d to br..t., se.. hi... to the orphanage," God instructed.

'Hmm, I can hear better now,' I strained to hear more. 'Oh! I am a one-year-old, about to be sent to an orphanage. I think I can manage,' I started planning after knowing I was not in a womb.

'What a minute! Doesn't it mean I got transmigrated, not reborn as a baby? Then why the hell I am not sent to an adult body?' I growled.

'You, God! I can't explore this new world as a baby. At least, you should have sent me to a somewhat older body. Why a one-year-old?' I grumbled, a sense of frustration creeping in."How much longer should we keep him in it?" inquired the God. 'Yeah? why am I in some liquid? Get me out,' I increased my struggle to move.

"Don't know, he breathes inside the water better than out here," replied the doctor.

'What?' I froze as a question mark on my head."Could I no longer be a human? Have I become some sort of fish or amphibian? What on earth did God do to me?" I struggled desperately as I slowly got the feeling of my body.

"It's rather peculiar, this individual. It seems they possess some Fishman traits, allowing them to breathe underwater effortlessly. Additionally, there is evidence of a species thought to be extinct within them. It's a true miracle that he ended up here," God remarked.

'Fishman? What I am in One Piece or something, come on, get me out,' I scoffed in disbelief and tried to control my body to move.

"It looks like he woke up. Take him out. Let me see him clearly," ordered God after seeing me move.

I felt someone pick me up.'Ok I am a baby: confirmed.' After I came out of the water, I struggled to breathe but it was bearable. 'I am an amphibian: confirmed.'

As I finally managed to open my eyes, I was momentarily blinded by an intense light. After my vision adjusted, I realized that my surroundings were entirely white.

I continued, blinking in astonishment. Before me stood a familiar face from my favorite anime, Gan Fall. I blinked repeatedly, thinking this was a hallucination and half-expecting the image to disappear. However, the character from the show remained right in front of me.

I stared.. stared.. and unable to contain myself any longer. I let out a shout, a cry, a wail, and finally, I fainted, my last thought being, 'I am in One Piece. And I am so dead.'

After some time, I woke up in bed/cloud and stared, 'Where Am I?' I wondered. Then I looked around to find people with wings, similar to the Skypieans in One Piece anime, working.

'Why do these people even have wings? And it looks stupid if they can't even fly using it?' I thought, forgetting about my current situation.

'Even if it can fly, I don't need it. It's completely a waste of space. It is also annoying to wear a dress or to carry something on my back, etc.,' I dissed the people here in disdain.

'Why am I even thinking something unnecessary now? Is it because of the baby's body? Huh! Baby's body?' That thought startled me.

"Gah! focus, I need to figure out where I am,' I calmed down to recall anything. 'Shit! I'm really in a fucking One piece world!' I exclaimed, remembering everything.

Without hesitation, I leaped off the bed, only to lose my balance and fall on all fours. But as I tried to stand, I couldn't help but notice something peculiar about my hands. I stared... stared... and stared at my fingers, unblinking, astonished by the claws that adorned them.

'What on earth is this?' I cursed, examining my nails, which resembled those of kittens. I gazed down at my toes, which sported similarly sharp claws.

Attempting to stand up, I realized something was throwing off my balance. 'Why can't I stand properly?' I wondered as I held onto the bed for support.

Upon standing, I slowly realized the source of my imbalance was on my back. 'No way,' I `paled in realization as I reached behind and felt it- a tail, a fucking tail.

I attempted to turn and look, but my view was obstructed by a black wing. 'Stupid wing,' I dismissed, moving it away to see the tail, to which I got attracted. It was a black tail, just like a black panther's. It looked undeniably cool.

'It looks cool,' I exclaimed as it waved behind me. 'Am I controlling it, or is it moving on its own?' I marveled at the tail's movements.

'Wait a minute? Where the hell did that wing come from?' I reacted, recalling. I glanced up from the tail to see a black wing pushed aside by my hand.

I quickly let go of my hand and 'Holy Shit!' cursed, gaping at it with my jaw hanging open. 'Did I just berate myself for having a wing?' I recalled what I had said earlier upon waking up.

'Who said wings are stupid? They look cool, and they can fly,' I began praising the wing before getting swatted by my own tail.

'What the hell!' I cried out in pain, clutching my head as I glared at the errant tail.

'Wait a minute, is this wing what I think it is?' I gulped, scrutinizing the wing closely. 'It looks somewhat similar to KING's wing from the Beast Pirates,' I muttered in disbelief.

'It's time to wake up from this dream,' I concluded, raising my hands to bite myself, afraid that my claws would tear off my flesh if I pinched too hard. However, I stopped abruptly as I felt sharp teeth in my mouth. I blinked dumbly, then touched my mouth to confirm again, only to encounter shark-like teeth.

Taking a deep breath to calm myself, I acknowledged the reality. 'Alright, time's up,' I declared in frustration. 'I'm part human, part Fishman, possibly a Mink, and who knows what else,' I listed off, growing increasingly alarmed.

'What am I?' I roared in exasperation.

'What the hell, God? I'm going to beat the shit out of you if I see you,' I rambled, cursing angrily at God - which I planned to call the being who sent me here.

'Not only am I a baby, but I also have a bizarre body with an uncontrollable tail,' I complained to no one in particular, wheezing for breath.

'And I can't even breathe properly at this altitude,' I panted before my tail's movements once again threw me off balance.
