Chapter 4
Delfino Plaza Brawl
BGM: Vellumental Battle (Paper Mario: The Origami King)
As the Water Vellumental flew through the streets of Delfino Plaza, occasionally destroying buildings with its sharp paper wings, the inhabitants of the island were running for their lives and screaming in terror.
The police were also present, helping the people escape and trying to do something about the paper dragon. However, the shots they fired from their guns did not appear to do anything, despite the dragon being made out of paper and should therefore be easy to tear holes in.
The Water Vellumental opened its mouth and fired a blast of water that easily washed away all the police that were attacking it. It release water from its mouth nonstop, so much that the pathway before it was basically turned into a raging river, and the civilians who were still escaping up ahead were washed away.
Drake ran into the scene and took her aim with her shotgun before firing several pellets of electric balls, hitting the dragon in the body. The dragon turned its attention towards her and roared as it began approaching her. Drake kept on firing nonstop, but the shots didn't appear to stop it from advancing any farther. The dragon spit out globs of water that shot through the air as fast as bullets, and she rolled to the side in time.
She readied to fire more shots as the Water Vellumental sped up at approaching her, but it was halted when Wario came charging into the scene and leaped at the dragon while spinning vertically with his body curled up. He hit the dragon's body so hard that the whole thing crashed down on its side. Uncurling himself, Wario leaped up and then slammed back down onto the dragon with his butt hard, pressing the dragon hard against the ground.
The Water Vellumental let out a roar before getting back up and shaking Wario off. Wario fell in front of it and taunted it. "How'd you like that? Try and get me if you can!"
The dragon shot a stream of water at him, but Wario leaped over it and towards its head, slamming it in the snout hard with his hands held together like a hammer and therefore forcefully shutting its mouth. Wario then grabbed the Water Vellumental by the neck before showcasing an amazing feat of strength of swinging the entire thing in circles multiple times. "Wild Swing Ding!"
After swinging enough times, he let go of the dragon and tossed it across the place, crashing through a building in the process. "Haha! Take that! No paper junk is going to beat me!" boasted Wario.
The Water Vellumental crashed through a number of buildings before hitting the ground, but it landed in an area where some civilians had escaped to. As the Water Vellumental slowly got back up, the civilians screamed in terror and began to run from the place again.
The police in the area fired at the Water Vellumental, trying to lure it away from the fleeing civilians. Even though the bullets of their guns didn't appear to do anything, the police fired away nonstop, hoping to accomplish something. They were distracted by the sound of an explosion, and then they turned to see Quiry standing front of a burning and destroyed water fountain that was now shooting even more water all over the place. "Yeah! I got it!" said the policewoman, punching the air with one hand while holding the rocket launcher she used for accomplishing this in the other.
"Quiry you idiot! You shot the wrong thing!" one of the police told her.
"Huh? I did?" asked Quiry in surprised as she squinted her eyes and leaned forward to get a better look at the destroyed fountain, offering anyone behind her a glimpse of her pink and white striped panties when her skirt rode up. "I thought I saw something in front of me spewing water, so I thought it must be that paper dragon!"
The Water Vellumental raised its head into the air with its mouth open, and the water that was shooting out of the destroyed fountain were sucked into it, feeding it and making its belly grow in size. Seeing this, the police backed away in fear.
Drake and Wario ran to the same area, just in time to witness what the Water Vellumental was doing. "Oh no you don't!" said Wario as he charged at the origami dragon, hoping to stop whatever it was doing, but the latter flew into the air at the last second, so Wario missed his attack.
The Water Vellumental flew higher into the air and let out another roar. The water still spewing out from the fountain gathered together and formed a waterspout that left its location and moved around the place. The police cried in shock as they ran from the waterspout that appeared to be chasing them.
Drake ran to one side and fired her shotgun at the dragon. The Water Vellumental turned its attention to her and opened his mouth. Blue light came out of its mouth before a concentrated blast of water was shot out. Drake tossed herself to the side in time, and the water pillar fired actually shattered the ground she was previously standing on.
Wario ran underneath the Water Vellumental and jumped straight up, hitting it in the belly with his head and then grabbing onto that part. The Water Vellumental responded by dropping down, performing a belly flop on the ground to flatten Wario underneath. When the dragon raised back up, Wario was seen in a crater the shape of himself on the ground. "Doh…"
Drake growled in frustration as she looked at the Water Vellumental and wondered how to take it down. "This thing is tougher than it looks! Maybe if I can supercharge myself for a stronger voltage and then hopefully take it down..."
The Water Vellumental approached while shooting a water jet stream that was strong enough to bore a hole in the building behind her when she got out of the water. She ran and looked back the origami dragon while firing her shotgun. The Water Vellumental attempted to go after her, but Wario, who had gotten back up, stopped him by grabbing and pulling his tail. "You're not getting away from me!" he said in anger. He was then lifted into the air and when the dragon swung its tail around at a fast speed.
Eventually, Wario lost his grip on the tail and was hurled across the place. He kept on flying until he hit an electric billboard hard enough to damage it and get electrocuted by its inner circuits. Drake saw what happened and smirked. "Yeah! That's what I'm looking for!"
She ran towards the billboard and then leaped at an incredible height onto the balcony of a nearby building before jumping towards the billboard. Drake came in contact with the billboard and dug her fingers deeply into it. Large amount of electricity surged down her arm and throughout her entire body, powering her up and causing her hair to stand up straight. "Haha! This is what true power is like! One befitting a villain like me!" she exclaimed loudly. "HEY UGLY!"
The Water Vellumental turned its head to her, seeing her pointing her shotgun at it.
"Try this one for a size, sucker!" said Drake loudly before pulling the trigger and firing a large blast of electricity like that of a lightning bolt. The origami dragon was struck and zapped all over the body, making it roar in pain.
However, the dragon was still standing, though badly burned. It roared in anger before firing a blast of water at Drake, who was still on the billboard and absorbing electricity. She fired from her shotgun again, this time a larger electric bolt than before due to having absorbing a large amount of electricity. The electric projectile traveled down the water column and reached the dragon before it could reach her, entering its mouth and damaging it from the inside.
The Water Vellumental was damaged internally fatally. Its body inflated like a balloon at a fast speed until it went beyond the limit and exploded into a large amount of water drops and shredded paper.

BGM Ends
Upon the Water Vellumental's defeat, the waterspout it created and was causing havoc in Delfino Plaza dissipated instantly. The police and civilians that were being terrorized by it were confused, but nevertheless, they were glad that they were safe and cheered in excitement.
Drake dropped down from the billboard, landing in front of Wario, who was just getting back up. "Yeah! One point for the villain!" said Drake in excitement, punching the air.
"Screw you… You took the finishing blow that I wanted…" grumbled Wario.
Waluigi had witnessed the whole thing from the highest floor of a building, and needless to say, he was shocked and unhappy. "What?! The Water Vellumental was destroyed?! How is that possible?! Darn it! Everything is ruined! Those bastards!"
Suddenly, an energy beam zipped past him, hitting the wall. He turned around in shock to see Syuen standing at the doorway, pointing her gun at him. "Jigs up, jerk!" she said to him. "Do something stupid and I'll shoot! I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty if I have to!"
"You dare threaten me, you hag!" Waluigi angrily said while pointing at her.
Veined popped in Syuen's head when she heard him calling her in such a way. "WHO ARE YOU CALLING A HAG?! DIE!" Screaming in anger, she fired nonstop, but somehow, not a single shot hit Waluigi, who was seen sitting on the floor, pale from head to toe and trembling violently, while holes riddled the wall around him.
"I… I give up…" he said weakly while raising his arms.
Syuen blew away the smoke on the turret of her gun and said with a smug expression, "Good! Now you know just how scary I can be if you cross me!"
Those aboard K. Rool's pirate ship still had their eyes glued on the mechanical squid known as Kraken, which was moving away from them and towards Isle Delfino.
"What… What is a Rapture doing here…?!" said Helm in disbelief. "And it's Kraken as well! I thought we destroyed it!"
"It's possible it's a second one," explained Rapi. "But… I didn't expect a Rapture to be conjured in this world by Gatekeeper…!"
K. Rool laughed as he beheld Kraken. "Haha! How'd you like what you saw? That thing was originally a schematic Cyber Ware made for a submarine, but it got scrapped for some reason. Waluigi made modifications to turn it into a weapon and then gave it to me, and I had experts build it! The Kraken takes order from me and won't stop wreaking havoc until it completely annihilated its targets! I've just gave it orders to lay waste of Isle Delfino, and you can be sure it will get the job done!"
Helm angrily turned to him and shouted, "You monster! Raptures like Kraken are merciless and will wipe out all life! You're going to kill tons of innocent people!"
K. Rool merely laughed at her words of anger. "Hahahaha! That's the point! I sent it to lay waste to Isle Delfino as well as everyone on it! If you call yourselves heroes, then why are you still here? Why not go and stop it now?"
"We have to do something!" said Mario, still eyeing the Kraken.
"If you want to, then be my guest! Kamek!" said K. Rool as he turned to the Magikoopa.
"Yes, your ugliness!" said Kamek as he flew into the air on his broom and began spraying rainbow-colored sparkles all over the place.
When the good guys came in contact with the sparkles, they slowly faded out of existence. "Why you?!" said Donkey in anger as he charged at K. Rool, but the former disappeared before he could get to him.
With the good guys on board gone, K. Rool laughed. "Ha! Now that the pests are out of the way, you folks clean up this ship and get it back into a good condition! We're going to find a good place to watch the Kraken wre…" Before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by Bowser punching him in the face and knocked to one side.
Getting back up, K. Rool looked at him in shock and rubbed the part of his face that got hit. "How are you still here?!"
"Simple! I hid in the cabin when Kamek did his thing!" replied Bowser.
K. Rool stood back up and growled in anger as he picked up his blunderbuss. "So you insist on being my opponent, don't you? Fine! I'll take on you and show you who is the better reptile!"
As everyone watched K. Rool and Bowser began to square off, Bowser Jr. looked in the direction of Isle Delfino and appeared to be deep in thought about something. "Kamek," he said to the Magikoopa. "Can you transport me to the same place you sent those people to just now?"
Kamek was curious about his request. "Why, young prince?"
Mario, Rapi, Helm, Noir, and Donkey Kong materialized out of thin air on top of a cliff overlooking a steep drop down the sea. Looking around in confusion, Helm said, "How did we get here?!"
"Kamek's magic warped us back onto Isle Delfino…" said Mario. "Maybe eetz a good-a thing becuz we have to go stop da Kraken!"
"Right, there's no telling how much damage it can cause once it goes on rampage," agreed Rapi with a nod.
Suddenly, sparkles appeared before them, and then Bowser Jr. and Kamek appeared. "Oh no you don't! I've decided to come here as well to make sure that you do not mess with Papa's plan!" Bowser Jr. said to them.
Mario stepped forward and said, "Out of da way! We don't-a have time to deal with you, but we'll seriously beat you up if you insist on stopping us!"
Bowser Jr. laughed and said, "Haha! It should be me beating you up! I've got just the thing to deal with you!" He took out a toy robot that had hammers for arms and showed it to Kamek. "Kamek! Do your thing!"
"As you wish, young master!" said Kamek as he cast magic on it.
The toy robot glowed and then floated out of Bowser Jr.'s hand. In an instant, it grew in size, big enough for Bowser Jr. to get inside of. "All right! I've always wanted to ride this thing and wreck havoc!" said Bowser Jr. in excitement before jumping into its cockpit. Pressing the buttons in the cockpit, the robot let out mechanical sounds, signifying that it was now a real robot rather than just a plastic toy. "Woohoo! I'm going to enjoy this!"
The good guys backed away from the robot with serious expression on their faces, except for Noir, who looked scared and nervous, which is her usual expression. "Da rest of you go on ahead to da Kraken," Mario told the others. "I will deal with him myself!"
"Are you sure?" Rapi asked him. "That thing looks like it can be dangerous…"
"Don't-a worry. Theez eezn't da first time I fought-a Bowsa Junia, and theez robot eeznt my first time seeing eet too," Mario told her.
"You really do not need help?" asked Helm in concern.
Mario assured them that he can deal with Bowser Jr. himself again, so they decided to trust him and head down the path leading to the bottom of the cliff. However, Bowser Jr. tried to stop them. "Oh no you don't!"
He swung down the robot's hammer onto the path where they were taking. The hammer strike caused the portion of the path leading down to break apart, becoming a straight drop downwards. Rapi, Helm, and Donkey were able to get to the other side before the hammer came down and removed their path, but not Noir, as she was still standing on the same side as Mario.
"Don't worry about me! You go on ahead, while I support Mario!" Noir called out to her allies on the other side of the chasm.
"All right! Be careful!" Rapi told her before running on ahead with Helm and Donkey.
Noir returned to Mario's side and readied her shotgun. "Allow me to assist you, Mister Mario."
"If you say so, then let's-a go!" Mario said to her as he got into a fighting stance.
BGM: Boomsday Machine (Super Mario Galaxy 2)
Bowser Jr.'s robot slammed one of its hammers against the ground, creating a red shockwave that spread through the place as well as Mario and Noir's direction. The both of them jumped over it, and after landing, Mario ran towards the robot, jumping a second time and aiming to land onto it.
He planted his feet against the robot's cockpit hard, and though he wasn't able to break the glass, he made Bowser Jr. feel the whole thing shake. "You've got strong feet. I'll give you that! But it'll take more than your smelly feet to do anything to this!" said Bowser Jr. in response.
He had the robot swung its hammer at Mario when the latter landed, but he was still able to get out of the hammer swing in time. Noir fired from her shotgun at the robot, but the bullets bounced off its metallic surface completely. Realizing something, she looked at her shotgun and said, "I forgot! I'm using Superball bullets currently! These can't do anything to that robot!"
She screamed as she turned to run from the robot approaching to hit her with its hammer. After the robot missed and hit the ground instead, it was pelted by fireballs coming from the side. Bowser Jr. turned and saw Mario with his overalls now red and white rather than the usual red and blue. "Good-a thing there are Fire Flowers here!" said the plumber, holding a ball of fire in his hand. Behind him were several flowers with orange, yellow, and white petals, and they even have dotted eyes.
"Nice try, but that won't work as well!" said Bowser Jr. Bullet Bills are then fired from a turret at the front of the robot's body. Mario dodged them and leaped into the air to throw more fireballs at Bowser Jr.'s robot, but they did nothing.
After landing from his jump, Mario cupped his hands together and formed a fireball that gradually grew in size. The robot approached him and swung down its hammer, but Mario rolled to the side fast before shooting a large fireball at one of the blue orbs at the front of its body. The attack left behind a small crack on the orb.
"Argh! Don't get cocky just because you did that!" said Bowser Jr. angrily.
Noir watched Mario fight with fireballs coming out from his hand and was amazed that he was able to do something like that. "How is he doing that?" she wondered. Looking at the side, she noticed some Fire Flowers swaying around gently in the wind. Curious, she approached the flowers and touched one of them.
A fiery aura was released from the flower and swirled around her body, causing her black leotard to become dark red. "What… What happened?!" she said in shock as she looked at her leotard. "And this feeling… I'm feeling very hot inside my body…!" Turning back to Mario and Bowser Jr. fighting, she realized that Mario must've gotten his fiery power from these flowers.
Wanting to put things to the test, Noir ran closer to them and took aim with her shotgun. When she pulled the trigger, a spread of fireballs was fired from the turret, striking the robot in various parts of the body hard and leaving behind burnt marks.
"What the?!" said Bowser Jr. in shock as he turned to Noir. "Why you?! Take this!" The robot fired multiple Bullet Bills at her. Noir jumped towards the Bullet Bills and bounced off them one by one, getting closer to Bowser Jr. as she did so. As she leaped into the air close to Bowser Jr., she fired a spread of fireballs again, blasting the cockpit at close range.
The robot backed away, revealing that it had multiple cracks on its glass cockpit. Bowser Jr. was shocked and nervous to see this, and then he growled in anger as he glared at Noir and Mario. "Why you?! I won't let you take me down so easily!"
Kamek appeared in the air, waving his wand in circles, and said, "I'll offer you a hand, young master! Kekeke!" Swinging his wand, he fired glowing projectiles that came in various geometric shapes at Mario and Noir, who dodged them.
Kamek then began creating large yellow blocks that rained down from the sky. Mario dodged some that fell around him, only to find himself surrounded in four directions by blocks, with the only way out being up. Kamek knew he was going to escape from there, so he created another block to drop down on top of Mario and crush him.
In response, Mario performing a jumping uppercut with his fist on fire, thanks to the power of the Fire Flower, and shattered the block in an instant. Kamek was taken back by this. "What?!"
While still in the air from the jump, Mario shot a fireball at Kamek, who teleported out of the way in time. When Mario landed, the Magikoopa appeared behind him, planning to strike him in the back of his head with his glowing wand.
Without looking back, Mario reached back his hand and caught the arm holding the wand when it came down, much to Kamek's surprise. Gripping Kamek's hand tightly with both hands, Mario spun him in circles, gradually building up speed as well as generating fire around himself until he resembled a spinning top on fire. This was nothing but burning torture for Kamek, who was entirely on fire as well. "KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
"Bye bye!" Mario eventually let go of Kamek, tossing the Magikoopa who was now a ball of fire through the air. He fell down in the distance, splashing into the sea below.
While all that was happening, Noir was firing from her shotgun at Bowser Jr.'s robot. The Fire Flower power up apparently gave her infinite ammo, so she had no issue spamming fiery shots at her enemy nonstop.
Taking aim at the blue orbs on the body, Noir was able to destroy both of them, revealing the circuits inside that short-circuited. A large amount of smoke came out of the robot's body as well, though it appeared to still be functional. "Argh! How dare you?!" said Bowser Jr. in anger. "I won't let you get away with this!"
The robot lunged at Noir and attacked wildly with its hammer, but with swift athletic movements, Noir was able to avoid every single strike until a shockwave caught her feet and caused her to fall back. Bowser Jr. laughed evilly as he raised the robot's hammer over her and readied to bring it down, but Noir acted fast and fired at the hammer at point blank when it was about to hit her. A fiery explosion occurred, blowing up the hammer.
The robot reeled back, with Bowser Jr. in shock, while Noir rolled back with her body charred, as she was caught in the explosion as well. "Ow…" she cried when she came to a stop.
"YOU'RE ASKING FOR IT!" Bowser Jr. shouted in anger as he had the robot fire several Bullet Bills nonstop at Noir. Ignoring the pain on her body, Noir leaped onto the first Bullet Bill and then used the rest behind it as stepping stones to get to Bowser Jr.
When close to him, she fired at the cockpit while jumping high above it, and then she dropped straight down, slamming onto the glass with her massive butt. A fiery shockwave was created, burning up almost everything around the robot, which came crashing down onto the ground violently.
CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH!
Mario had to hide behind a rock to avoid the fiery shockwave, not to mention holding down his hat so that it didn't fly off. When things settled down, he looked up and saw the robot smoking and short-circuiting nonstop on the ground, damaged beyond repair.
Noir was seen in the cockpit, sitting on top of Bowser Jr.'s head, who was seemingly unconscious. "Mamamia! That-a wuz impressive!" commented Mario in awe.
Noir blush as she stood up and got out of the robot. "Tha… Thanks…! I did my best…!"

Bowser Jr.'s robot is the Megahammer from Mario Galaxy 2, though I use the Boomsday Machine theme because it sounds cooler for this fight.
I know there are no Fire Flowers anywhere in Mario Sunshine, but remember that this Isle Delfino is off compared to the official version for mysterious reasons, so I'd imagine Fire Flowers growing on it to be normal for now.
