Chapter 61: Something That Makes Him... Himlike
Skitty's POV
I giggled silently watching the bubbles floating up into the air, a few of them popping along the way. It mattered not though for everything was coming to plan just as I expected. What plan is it, you may ask? Only Skitty knows and she's not telling! I really don't know where I even got this blowpipe thing from. I just kind of pulled it out and began to blow bubbles because I found them popping to be fun watching!
My ears picked up some yelling as I slowly lowered my gaze upon the two Pokemon who would dare to steal something valuable from a friend, especially the blue-ringed wanderer. The sand reptile nervously glanced my way and tried making another attempt to get them to stop, but that meanie cat was persistent to keep going. A formidable opponent indeed. If she wasn't such a kit I'd have way more fun with her. By that I mean… uhhh… what was I thinking about?
Oh yes!
My plan for helping to retrieve the special cloth was in full swing and I had the pieces all set up. I looked over at the mon in question, a feeling of outright concern growing as he fidgeted sitting there, waiting for the fire tail to complete some nonsense quest that could have been over hours ago. And why did I still have this shoe from that one guy I took from? Something about it just compelled me to keep it like some memeto or however it's pronounced.
Oh hey! There's so much blue close by! It's making me happy and excited all over again like before; and so much sand too! The urge to bury myself under it was rising unless I did that earlier and just wanted to do it again. I wonder how that guy is doing out there? I looked out across the ocean and searched for his whereabouts. Huh. Guess he was saved. What was I doing again? And why was it soooo hot here? I feel like I'm practically melti- is that an ice cream cart?
A single claw suddenly touched my head, calming me down instantly. He didn't even have to look my way to know what I was thinking! Darn that brown bear! I knew he was trouble. It's like he's connected to the universe of Skitty and counteracts right before I do something. Well I'll show him. I'll just sit here and make him think I won't do anything. Yeah. That'll teach him!
I yawned.
How much time has passed? I haven't the slightest. I've never been good at telling time; or shredding a shoe; or scarring a guy for life. I'm just an adorable Skitty who loves to play and have fun and…
My thoughts trailed off as I took another look at the blue-ringed wanderer. What was it about him that made him so… him? I couldn't place my paw on it, but there was something I couldn't describe about him that made him so… himlike. I'm not one to instantly call someone a friend so easily… usually. That time I met the brown bear was completely different. He and I hooked immediately into being partners in crime. We would get into all sorts of trouble whether it be breaking random objects, beating other Pokemon up, or breaking and entering. We were two bad mother-
I paused mid-thought. No wait. Maybe that was just me. After all, I am a bit of a scatterbrai-
What was I doing before I trailed off? Scarring a guy for life? No. That was the watery place. Poking the large thunder beast? No. That was the thundery place. Or was I poking him? I think I was dancing around or something. Eh, I don't remember.
I blinked, realizing I spaced out into my thoughts, which is kind of weird now that I thought about it. How does one space out into your thoughts if you're zoning into your thoughts? Wouldn't it be spacing in? I shook my head quickly to rid myself of all these wild, insane thoughts to take notice of the blue-ringed wanderer looking in my direction.
Did my sudden movements catch his attention? Was he concerned over what I was doing? What was I to do? I felt weird. Not ha, ha weird. More like weird weird. Something I couldn't explain. I had to act fast though so I wouldn't waste time. Raising up a paw, I gave it a small wave towards him as I gave him my usual Skitty trademark smile.
He stared.
Then blinked.
Then stared a little more before turning his attention back on the fire tail. I could feel my ears droop a little as he did as I slowly lowered my paw. That was… not what I was hoping to expect. But… why? My mind swirled with confusion as I too turned to watch the fire tail do whatever it was he was doing. Heh, you know, that name kinda suits him honestly. After all, that battle on the ship we had was the most fun I had yet thus far, among other things.
What question were we even on now? Sixteen? I know we were somewhere close since I tuned in long enough to hear we were halfway through. That's good. This cloth thing must really be important to blue ring if we were out here playing questions. Good thing I'm playing my part in all this. The best part is: no one knew! No one at all except the one doing the helping. If it meant seeing a smile on blue ring's face then doing the things I do is enough for me. I'll figure out the reason why later.
After the few, real moments we had, and I mean the real, real moments where I pushed the crazy aside to have an actual conversation with the guy… I don't know. There's something inside I'm trying to figure out, but I guess I should really stop worrying and overthinking it for now. I'm sure it will come around at some point to talk about.
Or not.
I'm just a Skitty. What do I know? I know that we were close to the end of these long winding questions and that I instill fear to weaker minds so plus two victory for me!
I flash another toothy grin towards the sand reptile who fidgeted nervously, fearing what I could do to him. Not even I knew what I would do in the moment. I suppose it depended on whatever I thought of doing next.
Or not.
