Sumire's Secret
June 22, 12:04 PM, District Court, Defendant Lobby No. 3
We come to J with Jaden resting up for the 5-minute break before the final round was to begin. Jaden was looking down sad.
He then asked J "…Is it really true…about my uncle…?"
"I'm afraid so, Jaden." J said sadly. "There's no way Sumire couldn've killed Dr. Strange but herself. And under the circumstances, there's no one else other than your uncle, Xehanort."
"That…That's terrible…Why? Why would my uncle…?" Jaden asked concerned.
"Everythins is going just as I predicted, Miss Serial Designation J." A familiar voice said and the two look to see Courtney entering with a small grin.
"Ack! Miss. Courtney!" Jaden said seeing her then asked glaring "Why are you doing this?! Why are you trying to take revenge on J?! J had nothing to do with what happened to your dad."
"Don't you have something better to be worrying about? Say, your own situation?" Courtney just said to Jaden.
"…Ugnn…Looking down on me, even though we're the same age…" Jaden said looking down.
"Are you done yet? You've caused me enough pain and suffering." J said to the Prosecutor arms folded.
"Not yet." Courtney said and explained "My goal is to defeat you, and let the whole world know of your defeat.
"…But even if you do that, it won't bring your father back…" J tells her.
Courtney remained silent then said "Hmph…Whatever….in the meantime, let's bring this match to it's conclusion. And then we'll who the real winner is."
June 22, 12:10 PM, District Court, Courtroom No. 2
Everyone was back in the courtroom when the quick recess was done. Sumire was back on the witness stand and the members of the court were chattering as they sit in the stands
Maccadam bangs his gavel and says "Court will no reconvene. Miss. J."
"Yes, Your Honor?" J said standing at attention.
"Can you prove Miss. Sumire Yoshizawa had a motive?" Maccadam asked her.
"Yes, I believe I can." J said smiling confidently she thinks to herself in her mind palace looking at the details of the crime 'Sumire Yoshizawa and Dr. Strange have one point of connection. And that is the car accident one year ago. The motive I'm looking for must be there….' She then said to Sumire "Miss. Yoshizawa. Please testify to this court about your car accident last year."
"Huh? I thought you wanted to ask about my motive." Sumire said have returned to her calm composed and a bit ditzy personality since the break. "I don't see the point in bring up the past."
"Miss. Yoshizawa, if you please." Maccadam told her.
"…Okay, okay. Like, I don't think it'll do any good, but…" Sumire said and begins to testify 'Last Year's Accident' saying "That was…last year, in May. Something really bad had happened at my sister's clinic around then…And the night of the accident, my sis was tired while she was driving. I was pooped too, so I fell asleep in the passenger's seat…I woke up because of a jolt and it was a sea of flames around me. I opened the door and got away."
"Hmmm…I think I've heard of this incident." Maccadam said thinking about it.
"It was all the talk on the tabloid shows, day after day, last year." J explained for the court.
"Yes, and there was talking about Dr. Stranger…drugging your sister…?" Maccadam said with a nod but is then whipped "Gwaggh!"
"Those were merely 'rumors'…Totally baseless gossip." Courtney said firmly.
"Hmmm, yes…Miss. J, you may question the witness." Maccadam said to that.
"Right now, it's impossible to prove that Dr. Strange did, in fact, drug Miss. Yoshizawa's sister." Terra said to J.
"Yeah…Which means I'll have to work this from another angle." J said with a nod. She presses the third statement about Kasumi was the one driving while tired saying "Hold it! She was 'tired'? You mean, exhausted?"
"Like, she had to talk to the police troopers and was being investigated every day." Sumire said in response "It was a totally terrible situation."
"It's not wonder, then, that the car accident happened, huh?" J said and decided to press harder adding "So then, why didn't you ask to switch places?"
"Huh? Like, what are you talking about?" Sumire asked her.
"I meant switch drivers." J clarifies "If your sister was so tired,then you should have switched with her."
"True, true." Maccadam said in agreement.
"Ah, but like…I don't have a driver's license…" Sumire said awkwardly.
"This is news to me." Courtney speaks up "I was not aware you didn't have your license, Miss. Yoshizawa."
Maccadam nods and said "Hmmm…Miss. Yoshizawa, please amend your testimony."
"Like, okay. Anyway…" Sumire said and adds to her testimony saying "I, like, didn't have my license, so, I couldn't take over driving for her."
J knew that was a lie as she has the License Photo so she presents this at that statement saying "Objection! Miss. Yoshizawa. That was a lame lie just now."
"Like, what do you mean?" Sumire asked confused.
J slams her hands down on her bench and said "I know you had a license back then!" She shows the License Photo on screens and states "This is a photo you took for the express purpose of getting a driver's license!"
"Umm…" Sumire said nervous fidgeting her glasses.
"What is the meaning of this, Miss. Yoshizawa?!" Macadam asked looking cross.
"Ah, um…Uh…That's…That's right!" Sumire said nervous and thinking "Y-Yeah, I had, a license…but…" She then goes to her more agressvive personality as she twirls her glasses and said "But I didn't get it until after the accident!"
J shakes her head and said "No, you had it." She slams her hands down "You had it at the time of the accident! Director Jiraiya…or the guy pretending to be him anyway, said so!"
"What, are you talking about that perverted fake clinic director?" Sumire asked her.
"Yes, that perverted fake clinic director. And how did you know he was pervert…." J said only to be interrupted by a whip "Eewouch!"
"No one cares." Courtney told her. "Witness. When did you receive your driver's license?"
"Like, last November." Sumire said smiling returning to her usual personality.
"What? N-N-November…?" J stammers sweating.
"The accident happened last May. That's a half year lapse in time, Miss. Serial Designation J." Courtney said grinning and petting her Camerupt.
"Wh-Wh-Wh-Wh-What in the?!" J said in shock.
"Th-Th-Th-Th-That's what happened, Miss. J!" Maccadam said to her. "At the time of the accident, Miss. Yoshizawa did not have a driver's license."
"Uuuuuurk…" J said looking down and is then whipped "Ow!"
"Cry, and my whip as well as my Camerupt will accommodate." Courtney tells J.
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "Anyway, without a license, the witness and her sister could not have switched drivers."
"I'm, like, glad you get it, but…even if I had my license, I don't think my sis would have let me drive." Sumire admits.
'…Hmmm…' J thinks and is whipped "Yeowch!"
"Don't just stand there 'hmm'-ing to yourself!" Terra tells her as he was the one to whip J.
"Not you too, Terra! With the whip…And the pain…And the oww…" J said to that.
"Miss. Yoshizawa! Why do you think you would not have been allowed to drive anyway?" Terra asked Sumire.
"Eh? Um…That's because…" Sumire said thinking.
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "I think this situation calls for a more detailed testimony. Miss. Yoshizawa, if you please."
"Eh? Like, how annoying." Sumire said to that annoyed but then said "Oops, sorry. Didn't mean to be mean…" She then testifies about 'I Wouldn't Be Allowed' saying "Like, around that time, I was really close to getting my license. My sis was this totally big fan of cars and really valued them. She had just gotten this really shiny, bright red sports car. She, like, would say things like, 'No way am I letting a newb drive my car!' So that's why I ended up in the passenger's seat that night too."
"Hmm…I see…A bright red care for sports…" Maccadam said nodding. "Now then, the defence may question the witness.
'Hmm…I'm not terribly knowledgeable about cars, but…' J thinks. She presses the first statement about Sumire being close to getting her license saying "Hold it! So what do you mean by, 'really close'?
"I had one of those 'permit' things. I think that's what they're called." Sumire said thinking.
"Um, 'permit'?" J said thinking.
Sumire in her aggressive personality said mockingly "Wow, the big-name lawyer drone doesn't even know what a driver's permit is?!"
"Well, this lawyer never had a permit." J said back and is then whipped again "Yeowch!"
"Ignorance is to be whipped." Courtney told J.
'What is with her…? All she's said in the last few minutes is utter nonsense…' J thinks sweat dropping and then presses the third statement about the car Kasumi was driving a red sports car saying "Hold it! It was a new car…?"
"Yeah." Sumire said nodding. "She had, like, just gotten it. It was from Galar.
"Hm? 'Galar'? Was that her boyfriend's nickname?" Maccadam asked naively.
"And it was a really special model." Sumire said twirling her glasses "She had waited for a whole year for it to arrive."
'I guess her love of cars would be the obvious next topic…' J thinks and chooses to press harder thinking 'I really don't know anything about cars…But I had a feeling this was bound to come up!' She slams her hands down "Your Honor!"
"Y-Yes?" Maccadam asked
"Please have the witness append what she just said to her testimony!" J said to him.
"You mean the part about it being a special import car?" Maccadam asked.
"Yes!" J said nodding.
Maccadam sighs and said "Well, if you like cars that much, then…"
"That's not my point!" J told him firmly but thinks 'Though to be honest, I don't know what the point is either…'
"Miss. Yoshizawa, would please fix your testimony?" Maccadam said to Sumire.
"Sure, whatever." Sumire said shrugging and said amending the testimony "My sis' new car was a totally special model from Galar."
J presses this new statement saying "Hold it!" but the pauses as she thinks 'I yelled, 'Hold it' pretty forcefully, but…I don't actually know what to ask about cars…' She decides to ask for the heck of it and said "Um…So, yes…" She then thinks 'What am I supposed to pick for a topic…?' She then asked "Let's start with this. Why are Galar cars good?"
"Like, huh?" Sumire said confused.
"They're expensive, and their driver's seat is opposite to our cars here in Cybercity" J said thinking on what she does know on cars "It would seem there is no benefit to owning one."
"Like…Huh?" Sumire said twitching a bit.
"This whole steering wheel on the right side thing; it's kind of goofy, isn't it?" J continued.
"Y-You! What do you know?!" Sumire said angry and then goes on a tangent listing the things that make the Galar car better going too fast to keep track.
J sweatdropping nervously said "Uuugh…Forgive me…" She thinks 'Her personality really changes at the drop of a hat…'
"It's interesting, isn't it, J?" Terra said smiling "Bit by bit, we're beginning to see the real 'contradiction' behind this case."
J thinks then remembered something, that this statement contradicts a piece of evidence in the Newspaper Clipping 2 so she presents this saying "Objection! Miss. Yoshizawa." She brings up the article on the screens and asked, "Do you remember this article?" Sumire looks confused. "It's an article about the accident. You had said this in it: 'But I opened the right door, and, like, got out'… That's correct, isn't it?"
"Like, why are you suddenly asking me about that…?" Sumire asked confused.
"Your Honor. Which side is a passenger's seat: the left or the right?" J asked looking to Maccadam.
"Well, it's on the right side, of course, because the driver's son the left side." Maccadam said to that.
"That would be if it were a car we mostly have here in Cybercity. But it would be the opposite in a Galar car." J said with a grin.
"Opposite…?" Maccadam said confused.
"The two of them were riding in a Galar car!" J states and slams her hands down "In that case, the passenger side would be the left side!"
"Aaaah!" Courtney winces realizing holding herself and her Camerupt comforts her.
"Wh-What do you mean by this?!" Maccadam asked shocked.
J slams her hands down and said "Miss. Yoshizawa! You said that you had escaped using the right side door of the car!" She then points at Sumire "But if you were sitting there, then that means you were in the driver's seat!"
"Aaaaaaah!" Sumire screams as she clutches her glasses and this made the members of the court chatter loudly.
Maccadam bangs his gavel and calls out "O-Order! Order in the court! Order! Oooooooooorder! Ord…" He was whipped "Ack!"
"Miss. Serial Designation J is blabbering nonsense again!" Courtney said to this "Sumire said the person who was driving was her older twin sister, Kasumi Yoshizawa!"
"That is what Sumire said, yes. But that is where her story falls apart." J said to that slamming her hands down and said "Somewhere, all of us made a big error in our assumptions!"
"J." Terra said looking at her. "It looks like you've finally found the real root of this murder!"
"If we connect all the dots, there can only be one answer!" J said thinking "I'd like to ask the court a question. Sumire or Kasumi, who was really driving that night? The answer is the one person who had her driver's license, Kasumi Sumire. After all, that makes her the only person who could legally drive!"
"B-But, you just said…" Maccadam said confused "The witness, Miss. Sumire Yoshizawa, was the one in the driver's seat!"
"Which leads us to the next question…" J said smiling
"Th-The next question?" Sumire, Courtney and Maccadam said at that.
"Who is the person standing at the witness stand right now?" J said asking the question.
"…Uuuugn!" Sumire said glaring angrily.
"What sort of idiotic ruse is this, Miss. Serial Designation J?!" Courtney asked annoyed. "Th-This witness's name…This witness's name is…"
"I'll tell you what her name really is." J said grinning knowing it "This witness's real name it…!" She then presents Kasumi Yoshizawa's profile saying while pointing at Sumire "Take that! Kasumi Yoshizawa. That is your real name."
"Objection!" Courtney said to that and adds "Of all the foolish dribble! Th-Then, how do you explain her appearance?!"
"This witness had severe facial burns when she was admitted into the hospital." J explained "So for the purpose of facial reconstruction, the surgeons used a picture."
"Facial reconstruction surgery?!" Courtney said in shock.
J shows the License photo and said "This is the picture she gave to her doctors at the time." She slams her hands down "That's right! It's a picture of her younger twin sister!"
"Nooooooo!" Sumire cries out.
"B-but…Kasumi Yoshizawa…She dies…In the car accident!" Maccadam said in shock.
"That's what everyone thought. However, that was not the case." J said with a smile.
"Th-Then, the body they found at the crash site…" Courtney said in shock.
"That was the body of the real Sumire Yoshizawa." J said with a nod and looks at the one on the stand "Isn't that right…Miss. Kasumi Yoshizawa?!" She remains silent glaring in seething anger.
J then thinks in her mind palace 'That car accident one year ago…The one who died that night was Sumire Yoshizawa. Her sister, Kasumi, then stole her face…And was reborn as Sumire. With this, she effectively erased 'Kasumi Yoshizawa' from existence!'
"Your Honor." Terra said arms folded "I'm sure you can now see why Kasumi had to kill Dr. Strange."
"Wh-What do you mean…" Maccadam asked only to be whipped "Aaaaaah!"
"What is the meaning of this nonsense?!" Courtney asked annoyed.
"Dr. Strange wanted to call back the spirit of a dead person." J explained "Specifically, the spirit of his nurse that died in the crash, Kasumi Yoshizawa. However, that would not have been possible! Because 'Kasumi Yoshizawa' was still, in face, alive!" She then looks at Sumire saying "And that fact would have been discovered had the channelling been conducted. So this witness had to stop that from happening…at all costs!"
"And…And…" Courtney said to that and managed to let out "And that's why she had to kill Dr. Hugo Strange? Is that what you're saying?!"
"Yes." J said nodding. "Before the channelling, Dr. Strange had the misfortune of consulting this witness about communicating with the dead." She slams her hands down "And in that moment, his fate was sealed!"
Stunning everyone and Maccadam said "W-W…W-Well Miss. Sumire…I mean Miss Wittebane…" He was then whipped "Aaaaaaah!"
"Why did you say MY name, just now?!" Courtney asked annoyed.
"Looks like I've been unmasked." A familiar female voice said coming from the witness stand.
"W-Witness…?" Courtney said surprised.
Sumire or rather Kasumi dropping the act was looking down sad, putting her hair up in a single side ponytail and was using a tissue to dry her tears as she said "That's right, I admit it. My real name is Kasmui Yoshizawa." J looks on surprised. "That quack doctor…He got what he deserved in the end." She sighs and continues "And I was so close to finally ditching 'Kasumi' too. So close…"
"But…But why?!" Maccadam asked her. "Why would you go so far as to throw away your self…? To become your own sister?!" Kasumi remains silent.
'I think I understand why…Kasumi Yoshizawa wanted her old self to disappear because of this…' J thinks and presents Newspaper Clipping 1 saying "Take that!"
"Th-That's…" Courtney said surprised "That's about the malpractice incident!"
"Dr. Strange was right. The mistake was caused by the nurse." J said nodding "A nurse by the name of Kasumi Yoshizawa. That's right, the person standing before us today. And a few weeks after this mishap, Kasmui Yoshizawa had a car accident, in which she lost her younger twin sister."
"Th-The timing couldn't have been worse…" Courtney said to that.
"Fourteen patients dying in that incident, and her own sister's life, extinguished. It was all too much to bear." J said with a nod.
Kasumi looking down said "…I found a way for myself to escape it all…The only way…"
"She lost everything in the flames of that accident, her sister…and even her own face. This was her last chance…" J explained. "Her chance to throw away her past and start a new life as her sister…"
"…Unbelievable…A plan beyond my wildest imagination…" Maccadam said speechless
"That jerk…" Kasumi said "If only he hadn't thought of that channeling mumbo-jumbo…"
"…Mumbo-jumbo?" J said to that.
"Becoming Sumire has been slightly the most horrible experience in the world." Kasumi explained "While we both had some similar interests but…Spirit channeling, the occult…I hate it! I hate it all!"
We come to a while late after Kasumi was escorted out.
Maccadam said to the court "…I believe there are still a few unsolved riddles here, such as...why did Miss. Yoshizawa choose to go with such a complicated plan? And why did Mr. Xehanort Yuki agree to help her execute it? Regardless, I believe one thing has been made crystal clear."
"The innocence of the defendant, Jaden Yuki…" J said to that.
"Th-This…" Courtney said in shock at how this has turned out as she slams her fist on the bench "This is preposterous! I…I'm perfect! Me…Courtney Wittebane…"
"I'm going to enjoy the news tonight, Miss Wittebane. How about you?" J said to the Prosecutor with a teasing smirk "It's going to be broadcase all over the world, right? Your defeat, that is…"
Courtney in anger lets out a barrage of whips on everyone but then unleashes it solely on J in rapid fashion. "And one more for good measure." She said and does on last whip that knocks J out as she falls onto the floor.
"J! Hang in there, J! J!" Terra calls out.
"This courst is a fraud! A sham!" Courtney said in anger.
Maccadam slams his gavel and said "…Now then. It looks like it will be some time before Miss. J regains consiciousness…so I will go ahead and pronounce the verdict. NOT GULTY. Audience cheer as confetti falls. He slams his gavel again and said "That is all. This court is adjourned!"
June 22, 3:13 PM, District Court, Defendant Lobby No. 3
We come to the lobby where J lay on the couch and Terra looks to see Jaden as he came in and smiles at him saying "Congratulations, Jaden."
"B-Bro!" Jaden said in shock tears in his eyes and he goes and hugs his older brother.
Terra holds him smiling and said "It's good to see you, Jaden…How are you doing?"
"Bro! Bro…" Jaden said happily "I-I didn't kill anyone, did I?"
"No, you didn't. It was all just a dream…" Terra said to him reassuring. "A really bad dream."
"You know, bro…In my dream, I smelled a really familiar scent." Jaden tells him
"A familiar scent…?" Terra asked him.
"I was inside that clothing box, right?" Jaden asked and said "That box…That was the box you used to store your clothes in a long time ago…"
"That's right" Terra said smiling
J who was awake and recovered seeing them sits up and said "Hmm…There is still on thing I don't quite get."
"What's that?" Jaden asked as the two brothers separate from their hug.
"What would've happened if Kasumi hadn't shot Dr. Strange…?" J asked. "I mean, we broke in because we heard a gunshot."
"I think Kasumi Yoshizawa had planned to open the door to the chamber herself." Terra said thinking about it. "And then, you and Todd would have witnessed quite a scene: a 'possessed' Jaden Yuki, who had just committed a murder."
"She had it planned down to the smallest detail, huh…?" J said thinking on it.
"J!" Jaden said happily and hugs her
"Congrats, Jaden." J said with a smile.
"Thanks!" Jaden said with a nod. "Looks like you bailed me out of another jam."
"Well…you know…" J said rubbing her head.
Jaden looks down sad and said "But…I really don't want something like this to happen ever again." J looks at him concerned "I'm fine because I have you to help me out, J…But every time something happens, I lose someone special to me. First my brother…And now my uncle…" J remained quiet "Hey, J…Tell me…Tell me why my uncle went and did something so horrible? Why would he help Kasumi Yoshizawa with a plan like that…?! I just…I just don't understand it, J…"
"Jaden, it's over. Why don't we just let it be." J said to him.
"J, please, I need an answer…" Jaden said sadly.
'The reason Xehanort helped Kasumi with her plan was…' J thinks and presents Kairi's profile saying "Take that!"
"…Kairily?" Jaden said in shock.
"Four years from now, a new Grand Master will be 'born' into Keyblade Village." J said as she explains "And that person will be you, Jaden."
"A-And…?" Jaden asked her.
"But if you weren't there…then the main family's bloodline would disappear…And what would happen then…?" J said to him.
Jaden remains quiet in shock and said "…The branch family…My uncle…"
J shakes her head and says "…No, Xehanort's spiritual power is too weak. The next person would be…Kairin."
"…Aaaah!" Jaden lets out in shock
"Everything was done for her sake." J said nodding. "It was all so that Kairin would become the next Grand Master."
"Y-Yeah…I can see that…" Jaden said looking down and mumbles.
'..? Did Jaden say something just now…? I think that he was saying…'I thought so'…' J thinks concerned.
Date and time unknown, Detention Center, Solitary Confinement Cell 13
We see Xehanort wearing a prison outfit as he was arrested and sentence for his role in the Dr. Strange murder. He was messing with some items in had in his cell.
"...My…precious Kairi…" Xehanort said to himself "you are the only one suitable to be the Grand master of Keyblade Warriors, dear child. I sacrified it all…All for you…I helped that brainless nurse carry out her murder, and cooperated with that whip-happy prosecutor…"
"It was all to unseat that annoying, witless main family boy…That Jaden Yuki" Xehanort continues as he looks out his small cell window and said "…But I shall be patient, my dearest Kairi…A chance will present itself...Your time will come…"

Well that was a wild ride but the case was solved but Xehanort hasn't given up his ambitions in making his daughter the Grand Master. Next time we're heading to the circus in episode 3, enjoy.
