Well, surprise, surprise...
Another RWBY story, huh?
Yeah, well, let's all just say that after watching the RWBY Trailers of Red, White, Black and Yellow Trailers, I've been feeling nostalgic lately and right now, I intend on delivering the charm from when RWBY was good and while yes, there is the fact that there are a lot of RWBY/Skyrim Crossovers out there, might as well try it since if RWBY needs some light in it's dark pits of gloomy angst of constant depression, then look no further than this.
Anyway, on with the story...
Disclaimer: I do not own RWBY, Skyrim and 'tachinowarui saga book 9: rwby' by 'blazeinferno4'. They belong to their respective owners.
Enjoy.
Character Name: Cairon Dawnguard
Age: 38
Gender: Male
Race: Breton (Skyrim)
World of Origin: Nirn (Skyrim)
World of Current Residence: Remnant
Physical Appearance:
Armored Form: Cairon is almost always seen in his signature Dawnguard armour. It's crafted from sturdy, dark grey leather overlaid with polished steel plating on the pauldrons, gauntlets, and boots. A heavy leather vest forms the core of the armor, offering vital protection. The most striking feature is the fully enclosed helmet, forged from the same steel with a narrow, horizontal visor that obscures his face entirely. Prominently emblazoned on the helmet's forehead is the stylized sunburst symbol of the Dawnguard, signifying his allegiance and purpose. The armor is practical and functional, showing signs of wear and countless battles, yet meticulously maintained – a testament to Cairon's disciplined nature.
Unarmored Hints (Rarely Seen): Though his face is usually hidden, glimpses reveal a man with a weathered complexion, hinting at years spent under the harsh Skyrim sun and battling through blizzards. His eyes, when visible, are likely a piercing, light blue, capable of radiating both warmth and chilling resolve. His build is strong and lean, honed from years of wielding weapons and adventuring.
Personality Traits:
Benevolent Warrior: At his core, Cairon is driven by an unwavering compassion for the innocent and defenseless. This benevolence is not naive; it stems from witnessing immense suffering and choosing to become a shield against it. He possesses a deep well of empathy and genuinely cares for the well-being of others, especially those who are vulnerable. He is quick to offer aid, comfort, and support.
Ruthless Justice: Contrasting his kindness is a steely resolve and ruthlessness when faced with those who prey on the weak. He has no hesitation in dispensing lethal force against evildoers, understanding that some threats can only be neutralized permanently. He believes in justice, and for those who inflict harm, his justice is swift, merciless, and absolute. He sees no glory in unnecessary suffering, but will inflict it if it is the only way to protect the innocent.
Honorable and Principled: Cairon adheres to a strict personal code of honor. He values integrity, loyalty, and fairness. He keeps his word and expects others to do the same. While he is willing to fight dirty in combat when necessary, he does not resort to underhanded tactics in dealing with people unless absolutely provoked.
Reasonable and Trustworthy (Earned): He is not gullible or easily manipulated. He is intelligent and observant, assessing people and situations carefully. Trust is not freely given; it must be earned through actions and sincerity. He operates on a principle of mutual respect and transparency, willing to share his story if the other party is equally forthcoming. He is a man of few words about his past initially, preferring to observe and listen before revealing his own depths.
Patient but Intolerant of Disrespect: Cairon possesses remarkable patience, honed perhaps by years of dealing with difficult personalities and long quests. However, this patience is not limitless. He does not tolerate deliberate disrespect, arrogance, or attempts to test his boundaries. He can be surprisingly sharp-tongued and articulate when provoked, capable of cutting through facades with a few well-chosen words. His intimidation stems not from brute aggression, but from a quiet, intense aura of capability and control.
Sympathetic yet Strict and Serious: He understands suffering and can empathize with those who have endured hardship. Yet, he is also a pragmatist and a disciplined warrior. He is serious, no-nonsense, and expects a certain level of decorum and respect. He is not lighthearted or jovial by nature, but his quiet intensity can be surprisingly reassuring in times of crisis. He is a rock of stability and resolve.
Background (Pre-Remnant):
Dragonborn of Skyrim: Cairon is the Dragonborn, a prophesied hero with the blood and soul of a dragon, capable of absorbing dragon souls and wielding the Thu'um, the ancient Dragon Language of Power. He has fulfilled his destiny in Skyrim many times over, slaying the World-Eater Alduin, preventing the vampire lord Harkon from plunging Tamriel into eternal darkness, and defeating the rogue Dragonborn Miraak, who sought to dominate all of Skyrim. These trials forged him into the warrior he is today.
Dawnguard Vampire Hunter: He is a seasoned member of the Dawnguard, a faction dedicated to eradicating vampires in Skyrim. This experience has made him an expert in combating the undead, mastering techniques and weaponry specifically designed for this purpose. He is intimately familiar with vampire weaknesses and tactics.
Master of Restoration Magic: Cairon has dedicated himself to the school of Restoration magic. He is adept at healing wounds, curing diseases, and bolstering defenses with wards. His mastery extends to powerful spells that can repel and destroy the undead, a crucial skill in his Dawnguard activities.
Champion of Meridia: Cairon is deeply connected to the Daedric Prince Meridia, the Lady of Infinite Energies, who abhorred the undead and all forms of corruption. He earned her favor and was bestowed with Dawnbreaker, her legendary Daedric artifact. Meridia has a deep-seated hatred for anything that defiles life and light, and Cairon became her instrument in purging such abominations. It was Meridia who called him to Remnant, sensing the encroaching darkness embodied by the Grimm.
Skills and Abilities:
Dragonborn Physiology and Thu'um:
Dragon Souls: Can absorb the souls of slain dragons, gaining their power and knowledge.
Thu'um (Dragon Shouts): Possesses the ability to manipulate reality through the Dragon Language. While in Remnant, his shouts might manifest with slightly different effects due to the different nature of magic and energy in this world. He likely favors shouts like Unrelenting Force, Fus Ro Dah (though perhaps with more controlled applications to avoid collateral damage in Remnant's more populated areas), Aura Whisper for sensing other people with the exception of Grimm, and potentially Become Ethereal for tactical retreats.
Master Swordsman and Shield User:
Dawnbreaker: Meridia's Daedric artifact. A one-handed sword that glows with golden light. Supremely effective against the undead (and now, Grimm). Upon striking undead, it often unleashes a fiery explosion that turns nearby undead to ash. In Remnant, against Grimm, it will likely function similarly, burning through their dark essence and disrupting their forms.
Dawnguard Rune Shield: A sturdy shield capable of absorbing blows and retaliating with bursts of sunlight. When sustained hits are taken, it generates a "Sun Shield," a temporary aura of burning light that damages and repels enemies. In Remnant, this sun shield should be equally effective against Grimm, exploiting their weakness to light-based energies.
Versatile Fighting Style: Cairon is a highly adaptable and skilled swordsman. He can fight defensively with his shield, aggressively with Dawnbreaker, or seamlessly blend both. He is not above employing practical, even "dirty," tactics in combat if it ensures victory and the safety of others.
Expert Crossbowman:
Dawnguard Crossbow: Proficient with crossbows, particularly the Dawnguard variants. While the reload speed is a known limitation, his accuracy is exceptional. He might utilize enhanced bolts (like explosive or fire bolts, potentially adapting Skyrim enchantments if possible within Remnant's rules) to overcome the crossbow's slower firing rate.
Master Restoration Magic:
Healing: Expert in healing wounds, mending broken bones, and restoring vitality to himself and others. This will be crucial for survival in Remnant.
Turn Undead: Powerful spells that can repel, fear, or even destroy undead creatures. In Remnant, these spells are likely to be effective against Grimm, as they share a similar dark, malevolent nature to the undead. He might adapt these spells or discover new applications against Grimm.
Wards: Can create magical barriers to protect against magical attacks (though not physical blows, as in Skyrim). The effectiveness of Skyrim-style wards in Remnant remains to be seen and may require adaptation.
Upon Arriving in Remnant:
Mission Driven: Cairon's primary objective in Remnant is to eliminate the evil that Meridia has sensed, directly pointing towards the Grimm. He sees his arrival as a divine mission and will approach it with his characteristic dedication and resolve.
Adaptation and Growth: Remnant presents a drastically different world than Skyrim. He will need to adapt to new forms of combat, magic (Aura and Semblances), and technology (Dust). His journey will likely involve learning from Huntsmen and Huntresses, potentially forming alliances, and discovering if his Skyrim skills translate directly or require modification within the rules of Remnant. He is open to learning, despite his serious demeanor, and will likely be impressed by the combat prowess of Huntsmen and the ingenuity of Remnant's technology.
Potential Alliances and Conflicts: His unwavering focus on protecting the innocent will naturally align him with Huntsmen and Huntresses, particularly those who uphold similar values (like Ruby Rose and her team). However, his direct, no-nonsense approach and his willingness to use lethal force might clash with more nuanced or morally grey characters. His Daedric artifact and Dragonborn nature could also raise suspicion and intrigue among those who are unfamiliar with such otherworldly powers.
Cairon Dawnguard is a force of nature, a warrior honed by incredible trials and driven by a powerful moral compass. His arrival in Remnant promises to be a turbulent event, bringing a seasoned champion into a world desperately in need of heroes, and potentially shaking the very foundations of how Remnant understands heroism and power.
Yes, I know that the Dawnbreaker is supposed to work against Undead but the Grimm are kind of creatures of a dark and evil force of utmost malevolence that I think that it is fitting if one can think about it.
Look, I don't care if you think that 'that is not how it works'. I just want to make a RWBY Story that doesn't revolve around angst, poor writing and a lot of character bashing and truly focus more on how RWBY has become charming in the first place.
Anyway, if you have anymore ideas...
Ciao...
PS: I refuse to make the story go to the dark and edgy route, even if it will follow canon because those who write that thought writing things dark and edgy looks cool but in reality, just comes across as a try hard so there.
PSS: I do wanted to see what will happen if there is a Warhammer Fantasy and RWBY Crossover where the Five Vermin Slayers, also known, whoever they are, be in Remnant where they will meet the RWBY cast and Remnant being invaded by Skavens, much like that RWBY/Bulletstorm crossover.
Just so you know.
