-Evie-

I just park at my house when I get a call from Sam. I hit answer. "Hey, what's up?" I ask.

"Tara knows now. I told her what I'm about to tell you." She says.

"That you're the daughter of my mom's first boyfriend?"

"You knew already?"

"I'm a detective's daughter, Sam. Guess I picked up a few things from him."

"Are you freaked?"

"I'm Evelyn fucking Prescott. It takes a lot to freak me out."

"Good. We need an expert on this kind of thing. Anyone you can think of?"

I smile. "I think I know just the guy." I say.

-3rd person-

The next day, Evie, Sam, and Richie reached a double wide, where former Sheriff and Evie's godfather, Dwight "Dewey" Riley currently lived at. Dewey got a sandwich out of his fridge and ate a bite before spitting it out and sitting on the couch with a cup of coffee. He changed the channel and saw the show of his ex wife, fellow survivor of multiple murder sprees, author, morning show host and Evie's godmother, Gale Weathers, when a knock came to his door, startling him and causing him to burn himself.

"Go away!" He said.

"Is that any way to treat family, Uncle Dewey?" Evie asked. "We wanted to ask you some questions."

"You know I don't give interviews, Evie."

"And you know I'm not like Auntie Gale. I'm not here to interview you."

-Evie-

I hear him walk to the door and look through the window. "One good reason is all I need to talk to you guys." He says.

"My father was Billy Loomis." Sam says and he opens the door.

"Terrible reason for me to talk."

"I'm Samantha Carpenter."

"Uncle, Dewey, please..." I say. "Sam was attacked by a creep in the Ghostface mask at the hospital last night. Her sister, Tara, was attacked the day before. Seven stab wounds. You know that from experience. Shes looking out for her family just like I'm trying to do."

"All I'm asking for is five minutes." Sam says.

"Two." He says. "A show I like is on and I'm missing it."

I smirk. "Lemme guess. Auntie Gale's?"

He glares at me. "I hate that you got your dad's detective skills."

"Didn't have to use them at all."

He turns the TV off then shuts the door as Sam and Richie sit down.

"Uncle Dewey, this is Sam's boyfriend, Richie." I say, nodding to Richie.

"Known him long, Samantha?" Dewey asks.

"Half a year?" Sam replies.

"He know about your dad beforehand? Any interest in Woodsboro or the killings from Ghostface?"

"What do you mean?" Richie asks.

"He means that the killer is obsessed with the Stab movies."

"Which means there are three rules to surviving a Stab movie. I know better than most. Rule one: Don't trust the lover. They seem like the kind of person you want them to be,sweet, caring, supportive...till the final act, where they try to decapitate you."

"Sam and I were in Modesto when Tara was attacked." Richie says.

"And you were conveniently unaccounted for the in other hospital room when Sam was attack."

"Do I have to take this?"

"Richie, my godfather is paranoid, but he's trying to make sure you're genuine." I say.

"Rule two: Motive is always about something from the past." Dewey says.

"...Someone said my mom isn't who I believe she is." I say.

His eyes dart to me. "You were called by Ghostface??" He asks. "Do your parents know??"

"I was gonna tell my mom when Amber called me and told me Sam was attacked." I say.

"Then why kill that Vince dude?" Richie asks.

"He told me last night that Vince's death was a favor but it's the only one I'd get."

"Rule three, and the most important one of them all: The first victim has a group that the killer is part of." Dewey says.

"...Tara has me, Mindy, Chad, Amber, and Liv. We're all a close group." I say.

"Look for the killer there, then, kiddo. Figure out the motive then you know who's next." Dewey says to me.

"Help us then, Mr. Riley, to figure out the one behind this." Sam says.

"I have nine stab scars, permanent nerve damage, and a limp. I don't want to do all that again."

"'It always goes back to the past', right?" Sam asks and Dewey nods. "Then you, your ex wife, and Evie's mother are in as much danger as Evie herself is in. We can do this together."

I look at him.

"Time's up. And I will be letting your kother know about you being stalked, Evie."

He slams the door after we leave.

"He's more fun in the movies." Richie says.

"He just doesn't want to go through all of this again. But he is family and he's always done the right thing." I tell him as we walk back to his car.

"What now?" He asks Sam.

"Your friends, Evie." Sam tells me as he tosses her the keys.

"Well, you can already rule me out. I carry a gun, not a knife." I say then pull it out from the holster behind my jacket. It's a Beretta semiautomatic pistol. "And my taser." I say then pull out my stun gun from my other holster behind my jacket. They both look at me a little weird. "What? My mom survived multiple murder sprees and my dad's a cop. They wanted me to be prepared to defend myself if I need to."

Dewey sat on his couch, drinking his coffee before turning his TV off. He walked to his kitchen counter and picked up a phone then dialed a number.

Sidney was jogging along a trail in the forest of Woodsboro when her phone rang. She answered her phone. "Hello?"

"Hey, Sid, guess who?" Dewey asked.

"Dewey? How long's it been?" She asked. "I'm trying to get a little run worked in before taking the girls to school. How are you doing?"

"I'm doing really good. How's Mark?"

"He's a keeper. How's the sherrif's business?"

"They're okay, but...?"

"You talk to Gale lately?"

"Not for a couple years now."

"I know it didn't end well, but..."

"It's happening again, Sid. And this time, Evie's being targeted."

Sidney paused. "...What?"

"Three attacks, one dead victim. Something feels different this time."

"I'm gonna double back to the 'Evie being targeted' topic in a sec, but are you okay?"

"You know me."

"That's why I'm asking."

"I'm okay. I just want you to be safe. You have a gun?"

"Of course I do. I'm Sidney fucking Prescott. Now, what is this about my oldest daughter being targeted?"

"Evie was just here with a girl named Samantha Carpenter and her boyfriend, Richie. Said Ghostface called her and said you're not who you say you are. She told me she was gonna tell you about it but never got the chance."

Sidney sighed. "Okay, I'll talk to her about it after I get her sisters to school. Does Gale know?"

"No, but she's about to. But, Sid, no matter what you see or hear from the news, promise me youll stay out in among the trees."

"I have no intention of leaving my house. No offense."

"None taken."

"I'm glad they have you to protect them from this killer, Dewey...but this is my daughter's life we're talking about. And you know, I'll do whatever it tales to protect her."

Dewey sighed. "I was afraid you were gonna say that."

"Be safe, okay?"

"Yeah."

"It was good to head your voice again."

"You too."

They ended the call then Sidney called Evie.
