Hugh was busy sitting on the dock as he was waiting for the fish to bite. Even though he was feeling a little depressed about not taking over the Alecrian throne, he wasn't cut out for it as he continued to stare at the red and white bobber that looked like a Pokemon ball. When he noticed the bobber jiggling in the water, he grabbed his fishing pole as he reeled what he was catching. By the time he caught it, he noticed it to be a redfin tuna as it was mainly the largest that he caught, for it would soon be dinner once it was cleaned and filleted. When he placed the tuna into a large cooler, he carted it back to the villa as he went towards the kitchen to clean it up in which he was eager to store some of it for later.
"Sorry, Charlie; you are the main course for tonight," he said to himself.
Hugh was still cleaning his catch out as he removed the head and guts while putting them in a bucket. With the rest of it descaled and cleaned, he was ready to fillet it until he noticed Guido enter into the kitchen with some groceries that stemmed from dessert staples to rice. He was mainly putting things away until he heard some small footsteps coming. What he didn't expect was that there was a familiar High Elf girl coming into the kitchen as she had a box in her hands, for she was eager to see me and Reiko on the spot.
"You're far from home, aren't you?" he said.
"Daddy told me to find my aunt and uncle," she said as she put down the box.
"Fuyuka," said Reiko as she entered into the kitchen. "What are you doing here?"
"I had to get here… Mommy said that it wasn't safe at our home. That's what Daddy said in which he doesn't wanna leave her or Yagyu behind."
"Did something happen?" asked Hugh.
"Daddy was sending everyone in the Kingdom by the River to other places after some bad people came and attacked us."
"Do you know where they are?" asked Reiko.
"They said that they went to a planet called Erebor. Daddy has friends there to look after Mommy and Yagyu while he's on our homeworld stopping those bad people."
Reiko was shocked to hear what was happening on Alecrast as she was worried about Shigeru and his family. Even though she was glad that Fuyuka was safe, she couldn't let her go back alone as she refused to let her out of her sight. When she noticed me come into the kitchen after dealing with the younger children, I was shocked to see Fuyuka here as she was there to show me the package she had, for she was opening it up to show me.
"You're far from home," I said.
"Daddy told me to come here," said Fuyuka as she removed the packaging from the box. "He said that it wasn't safe at home."
"What happened over there?"
"Some bad people came to the Kingdom by the River and ruined everything. Daddy had to get us out of here in which he also had to bring Mommy and Yagyu to Erebor. He also wanted me to deliver this package for you."
I helped Fuyuka open up the rest of the package as I saw several cake mixes that were in it with some frostings. The selection of so many cake mixes were a godsend as they reminded me of all those times that I spent with Shigeru when we left for Alecrast at the time. It wasn't long until I also noticed some decorative cake pans that were in it as I even spotted one that wasn't meant to be seen by younger viewers, for it was a very phallic one indeed. I also noticed a letter that was addressed to me in which I opened it up to read the response that was sent to me, for I had to know what I missed during my long and grueling furlough.
Hey, Sammy (It read),
If you're getting this, I've moved Futaba and Yagyu away from the Kingdom by the River on Alecrast after facing the wrath of Desdemona and Iago Arkhelios. The place was a nightmare when they came in and caused chaos in which I've been bolstering the effort to lay low instead of going with guns blazing and we all know that it would be suicide if that happened. Desdemona is no slouch, but she's also been struggling to hold onto power even after the death of House Maitland's patriarch, Brutus Maitland, who was also responsible for the death of General Thorndike. Iago, on the other hand, is far worse in which he even goes out of his way to slit the throat of any innocent bystander in his way and not stopping. All of this stemmed from the terrorist attack on the capital in which most of us have been waiting for the right moment to see the Alecrian Emperor take the reins and restore sanity once again.
I sent Fuyuka here in which she needs to be around normalcy instead of the anxiety she was subjected to. Still, I also wanted her to send you a care package in which you might find it useful to your liking. In the end of it all, I've been seeing omens that have been coming in which Dean is poised to rule Alecrast, for he's got the ways and means to do so, especially when he's got that Impala. Well, I have to go kick ass and take names in which we'll meet again once we give the Stewards an eviction notice.
Sincerely from your brother-in-law and best friend,
Shigeru Mitani.
I was fearing the worst as I also had to go and tell Dean the news of what was happening on our homeworld. Still, there were hurdles to jump through as we also had to deal with the threat of the Zenith Vectors in which they were still at large. For now, I was glad that Fuyuka was away from the chaos as she was a breath of fresh air, for she was here instead of suffering from the anxiety of a looming civil war…
Desdemona was at her home in the palace in Isildur on Alecrast as she was staring at the portrait that had its face marked with a red "x." She was also holding onto power after she attended the funeral of Brutus Maitland, who ended up choking to his death after he ate a sweet roll due to his allergy to gluten. After weeks of ravaging the Kingdom by the River, she wasn't satisfied with not catching up to Shigeru and his family as they were far away. Anger swelled in her as she started to shred at the portrait where the faceless Emperor stood. She was also angry at the opposition who had been growing since the terrorist attack in the capital in which she was busy trying to crack down on the dissenters who were fighting on Shigeru's side, for this was far from over.
"It's a bad omen to shred a portrait," said a man as he was dressed in noble clothing.
"Cyril Maitland…," said Desdemona. "I had a feeling that you'd be here since your father's death from a stray sweet roll that wasn't made with special flour."
"You can thank the opposition for giving it to him, but their voices grow louder by the second since that terrorist attack. Still, there's the call for the restoration of the Alecrian royal family in which there are only two humans out of the seven that came from John Winchester's seed while five of them are Half-Elves."
"And one of them is the Medic General of the Medical Corps… As for his brothers, they're still hiding in the shadows in which they're much clever like that vagabond, Cletus."
"Try not to lose your temper, Desi. Sooner or later, they'll let down their guard in which their strongholds consist of the Mitani homestead, Wall Keep, Gale Canyon, Shilla, and Kanto Village. I know where they come and go, but it's hard to catch the bastards before they strike again in response for the death of General Thorndike. We cannot fall nor allow our enemies to take the throne, for we are the ones who wield power and we can also take it away."
"My lady! Look outside!"
Desdemona saw a soldier burst in as he was fearing the worst with the bad news. What she noticed was that his uniform was covered in snow as she later went outside to see it falling down outside. She saw the fresh snow as a minor threat as she was adamant that she was expecting it to go away tomorrow. She never believed in omens as she saw everything around her as mainly "fake news," for she as starting to get angry at what was going on right in front of her.
"It's snowing in the middle of April!" she yelled. "It should be spring here in the Northern Hemisphere on this planet, not winter!"
"It's been coming down since yesterday," said the soldier. "The locals and the oracles have tried to warn us, but you and the other Stewards wouldn't listen. They say it's karma towards you for not relinquishing power."
"For the record, relinquishing power is a foolhardy request. In the Elder Days, when the Red Plague still raged, a group of the predecessor's followers descended on the capital, but failed miserably in which their little coup d'etat didn't deter them, but emboldened everyone to 'stand back and stand by.' We're here because we hold the keys to the kingdom, not the Alecrian royal family. The only mistake we made was to have John Winchester being wed to Princess Mary of Kaijirin and bore two sons. Even though Sawney Masbath had a hand in using demons to do his dirty work to kill his half-sister, that didn't stop John from being married to Cynthia MacVicker. I also know that a certain little brat escaped from our clutches once when we all signed the death warrant, but it was pilfered by Phyllis Schacter. In the end of it all, we never surrender nor yield, for we are the Stewards who rule Alecrast and no other!"
At that moment, Desdemona reached for her gun as she killed the soldier who tried to warn her about the winter. Still, she refused to listen to those who tried to warn her about the eternal winter as she was still adamant in holding onto her pride in her position of House Arkhelios. With the body of the soldier taken away, Cyril looked with both concern and disgust in which he was fearing the worst in which karma was getting the better of those who refuse to relinquish power. With the tide shifting in favor of the opposition, Desdemona was struggling to keep her head above water as she was wanting to prevent it from reaching the capital, for she refused to share power.
"A word of advice, Cyril," she said coldly as she put her gun away. "Don't pander to weaklings nor be steeped in their lies. We hold the keys to the kingdom here, not the Alecrian royal family. Anyone who opposes us will be crushed under our feet. We will not be swayed by our enemies, for if we don't stand our ground to have the Alecrian royal family go extinct, then we don't have a planet anymore!"
"The omens of an eternal winter can't be ignored," he said cautiously. "We've been walking on eggshells since those terrorists caused havoc in the capital"
"There is no threat of eternal winter! It's nothing but lies and fake news just to pander to Shigeru's forces that have been hiding in the shadows! I won't be upstaged by the remnants of a royal family that's about to be extinct! I say to you again, Cyril, are you with me or against me in this fight against our enemies?"
"A little bit of advice, Desi, our rule has been slipping for a while, for we can't rule Alecrast forever after all that has happened. The omens of an eternal winter is karmic retribution from the gods in which we can't avert what is put in front of us. We all know that we've reached the point of no return in which the gods will stop at nothing to put a wrench on our family dynamic."
"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a shit! I won't be put under the pressure of what was left of the Alecrian royal family in which they dug their grave just like their past selves in the Elder Days."
"Sooner or later, we'll have karma turning against us, for it is the time of our undoing."
Cyril didn't say another word as he was aware of Desdemona's behavior in which he was concerned about the further omens of eternal winter coming towards Alecrast. Still, he had to be more cautious as he knew of Desdemona's temper very well, for she was also a threat to both her allies and enemies alike...
I was outside as I was mainly there to see the comings and goings of the townsfolk who lived here in El Anillo del Fuego. Still, I had things to do as I was also seeing some of the locals helping out with the community who lived here. I was also seeing the church offering services as I later noticed a few people outside near the gate in which I decided to know what was going on. To my alarm, I saw Barnaby tossing out a young girl in a wheelchair as he was berating her for not measuring up. Still, I saw the cruelty from the cleric as he welcomed those who were deemed "healthy" in his worldview into the doors of his church, for it was deemed unhealthy to discriminate against the disabled.
"We will not provide services for the unhealthy!" he yelled.
"But my mom and dad are in there," said the girl.
"What's the matter, girl? Can't walk? Anyway, tonight is the potluck in which I am about to have some very delicious cakes coming for our church, for it belongs to those in my flock, not to the mongrels. They can do with the table scraps near the soup kitchen for all I care!"
"Vera!"
I saw the girl's father rush out of the church as he saw her in tears. She was desperate to walk again as she didn't want to be trapped in a wheelchair. I also saw her father get angry with Barnaby as he was smirking with glee while going back in the church until I decided to confront him, for he needed to be taught a lesson in humility instead of his pride. When I saw the girl in the wheelchair slowly trying to get up out of her wheelchair, she fell to her knees as she was desperate to walk again, for she was also trying to measure up to those who hung around the church. With Barnaby going inside and closing his doors, we were left out in the front as we were also getting fed up with his fervent loyalty to the rich and his constant ableism. Even I was not too thrilled with him insulting the downtrodden as they were struggling to get by, for they were vulnerable people indeed.
"Don't push yourself too much; you know what the doctor said," said the girl's father as he was trying ot console her. "Ever since the accident, you've been berated by that chump who refuses to open the door for you all because you're not 'healthy.'"
"Is something wrong?" I asked.
"Vera's been trying to walk ever since she got into an accident. I'm the only one who is consoling her while her mother works to keep us with a roof over our heads. What's even worse is that the cleric is hosting a potluck tomorrow for his 'healthy congregation.'"
"I overheard him talking about having a some delicious cakes in which he'll never expect what's coming to him after what happened earlier. The church is a sacred place for worshipers regardless of age, gender, religion, disability, status, or sexual orientation. Everyone is welcome to the church, not those who look down upon those who need comfort."
I left for home as I was more than likely to be formulating a plan to put Barnaby in his place. From a standpoint, I thought about the cake pans that Shigeru sent to me as I would soon bring out a plan to pull a prank that would even shock everyone. By the time I returned home, I went towards the nursery to check up on the quadruplets who were resting after being fed and changed earlier. Even though I generated breastmilk to feed them, I also had to have assistance as I was thankful that Reiko and Dirithi were helping in which I later left the nursery and went towards the sitting room. What I didn't expect was that I heard more commotion from the main hall as I went to see what was going on in which I saw Lyra arguing with Barnaby in which he was mainly spreading words from "the good book" while turning his nose up at everything.
"You can't just intrude on the lives of the people here," I heard her say as she refused to let him into the villa. "Therefore, you already got your ass handed to you once, so I suggest that you don't loiter and poke the bear."
"I heard rumors about the babies in Sam Winchester's care in which his wife cares for them in which he is deemed unfaithful to her! I bet that he often parades his mistresses just because his wife has gotten too big for her skirts."
"If he was so unfaithful to Reiko, then why were they put into his body against his wishes? And for the record, the children who share the mitochondrial DNA also happen to be from the war orphans in my care. And another thing, before you cry false accusations, I suggest that you pull your head out of your ass and return to your church!"
"Oh, I'm not going anywhere right now..."
It wasn't long until Barnaby noticed Fuyuka enter from the backyard as she wanted to know what was going on. When she saw me standing towards the front where I was ready to mediate to throw Barnaby out, he was ready to pull more punches into his insults as he had fresh meat to pound to his amusement. I had to protect Fuyuka from his wrath as I had to make sure that she was safe, for she was a little girl after all.
"So, here's another one of your affair babies, Sam," I heard him say in a voice that was laced with venom. "Have you decide to parade that one around your villa while your wife struggles with your other children?"
"I'm not an affair baby!" yelled Fuyuka as she got in front of me. "And you better not be harassing my uncle! He's been through too much already!"
"How dare you backtalk your elders?! I will teach you how to behave!"
"Screw you, asshat!"
Barnaby was angered by what he heard as he was ready to harm Fuyuka until I intervened by bending the blood in his body. Using his fist, I directed it to his face as he fell backwards the moment he was staring at me. He was glaring at me as he wanted to attack me until Lyra intervened, for she wasn't having it.
"Go back to your bully pulpit!" she yelled. "As for you insulting the youngest children and calling them 'affair babies,' that's a blatant disrespect to not only to their mothers, but to my son-in-law who never forgot the sacrifice they made to protect the Skalvarg Archipelago from the wrath of Bertram Blackthorne's forces! Calling the children who were conceived by other means with the help of Sam's seed 'affair babies' is also a slap in the face to not only to him, but to those who have ties to the Trujillo Clan! If the next time you show a shred of cruelty over those who are beneath you, you'll be met with more than just a black eye!"
"You'll regret crossing me; mark my words!"
It wasn't long until Barnaby fled the villa as Lyra remained unfazed by his venom. Like me, she also didn't care for his rhetoric as she wasn't about to let him harass me or my family. I was also blessed to see her defending me as she was aware of the presence of the little ones that were brought into the world. Still, I had to deal with the excess baggage of those who never gave a damn about the vulnerable, for they would soon face swift karma if they didn't be lenient to those in need.
"I hate that prick!" yelled Lyra.
"It's because he pulls a dick move on everyone," said Fuyuka.
"Watch your language," I said cautiously. "You must've picked that up from your father."
"Barnaby may have the gall to welcome his usual potluck for tonight, but he's also wanting cake just to eat in front of his congregation," said Lyra.
"And you just gave me some ammunition just now and one of Shigeru's cake pans will do nicely. I can't let him look down on his flock in which he'll be getting a taste of his own medicine."
"Come to think of it, the bakery who opted into giving Barnaby his cake had other plans after they consulted me about his potluck. Their effort to turn him down will give you the right ammunition in baking a cake just for tonight."
"We can use the cake pan that's shaped like a funny rocket ship," said Fuyuka.
"And we'll give what the congregation wants…"
The idea of using Shigeru's cake pans to put Barnaby in his place was just the beginning of my form of retaliation against him as he would soon know humiliation. I was more than likely to be using what was in the package that was given to me as I also had to craft what was put into it, for this was a form of vengeance in the form of baked goods…
Dean was back at the citadel on Skald Island as he was still overseeing the effort of cleaning it up after the fall of the Maladendrum. Even though most of the townsfolk and his unit were hard at work, he was also concerned for Ravenna as she was sitting near the Impala that was still parked. Even though he was there to keep everyone in line, he also didn't want Ravenna to do too much as she was also starting to show due to her pregnancy, for she was in no condition to be doing the heavy lifting right now.
"It's been slow, but one good surprise comes after another," he said.
"The boys and the other children seem to be clamoring about what I've been carrying," said Ravenna. "Even though Skald Island is still a mess, some of us who are expecting are stuck on the sidelines."
"It's 'cause you're pregnant. I know that you're committed to your work, but there's no way in hell that you're doing it alone."
"Chiaki's been a handful since she had her fair share of woes. As for what I heard, Sam must've jumped the gun when he gave birth."
"He's handling it very well, but he's also gonna have to deal with the lingering crap show coming from our homeworld." Dean fishes out a letter as he shows it to Ravenna. "From what I heard, fate pulled a one-eighty on Hugh in which he's slated to marry the youngest daughter of Lyra Trujillo. As for whoever is slated to be on the throne, yours truly will be top dog, which I'm not too thrilled to be on it. Everything ain't sunshine and candy canes, but that doesn't mean that we can't bounce back from what gets thrown at us."
"You'll make a great Emperor. You've been through hell and back just like your past self from the Elder Days. Our fallen spouses would be thrilled that we take the throne in which you've already forged bonds with your friends. It's the most we can do because of the fact that Alecrast needs a just and kind ruler to restore what it once was."
It wasn't long until Sachiko arrived as she was reporting in after cleaning up in other parts of Skald Island. Still, she was shaken about what happened a few weeks ago as she wanted to tell Dean about what happened, for she was afraid of the Four Steward Houses and what they presented. She never forgot about how Desdemona came here unannounced as she was also issuing a warning to those who were still part of the Alecrian royal family, for it was the tip of the iceberg of what would happen next.
"You've come back early," said Dean.
"There's something that I need to tell you about," said Sachiko.
"Spill it; I'm listening."
"Desdemona came here to the island a few weeks ago. She says that the Four Steward Houses have been fighting with the opposition on Alecrast in which Shigeru's been calling the shots. I don't know what's been happening there, but most of the history of the Alecrian royal family have faded into memory in which the Four Stewards have been ruling for a long time. It's been going on like this since the Zenith Vectors caused that terrorist attack in the capital. The chieftains who lived far and wide on the planet have been wanting the Alecrian royal family to return to power for a while now. And to top it off, there's been an uptick in weird weather in the form of cold patches on the planet, but the Stewards refuse to believe the public."
Dean was stunned to hear the news about what was happening on Alecrast as the weight of leadership had reached a fever pitch. Even though he never wanted to be Emperor, he would soon be targeted as he wasn't about to let the Four Steward Houses get to him. Sooner or later, he had to return to our homeworld as the time to restore the Alecrian royal family was already beginning. Even though he wasn't about to abandon his unit again, his true calling was beckoning him to return as he was also pondering on having a successor, for he had to make his actions quick in order to go back to Alecrast in the long run.
"So, this isn't just a lingering crap show, but a diarrhea fest," he said. "The Four Steward Houses have been out for blood before, but ignoring prophetic signs and calls for them to step down?"
"It's been intense since that terrorist attack, but from what I heard, you're the only one who can restore the throne," said Sachiko.
"If I'm poised to restore balance to Alecrast, I'm gonna have to have a successor taking order my unit. Once I'm on this mission to overthrow the Four Stewards, Desna will be in charge in which he'll also be there to tackle missions in my stead. He's been steady in which he's handled it before, but I have a gut feeling that it would end up going sideways."
"Nothing will end up going sideways, Captain," said Desna as he entered while checking in. "I've been getting letters from the Order's higher-ups in which they're concerned about the chaos that's been rife on Alecrast and not stopping. From what Ginryu said, the sight of cold patches on the planet is a sign that the eternal winter is slowly coming. Still, you can't abandon your calling, Captain. Your people are crying for help in which the Winchester Legacy must be restored or else the eternal winter will take over Alecrast and the other planets that the Order's main headquarters are located in. You have my support along with the rest of your unit. Your brother would've wanted you to go in with guns blazing anyway."
Dean was astonished to hear those words as he couldn't let everyone down right now. Even though the tactics were changed, he had no other choice but to return to Alecrast as the time to restore our legacy was just the beginning, for it had to be realized or else the eternal winter will end up spreading without warning…
Later on in the afternoon, I was busy as I was done baking in which the surprises were placed into large boxes. Still, I was thankful that Shigeru sent the cake mixes and frostings with the cake pans as I went outside and placed the boxes into a pull-cart. I was ready to deliver some sweet revenge as wheeled the pull-cart out of the villa and straight towards the church. Once again, I was seeing Barnaby and his flock as they were outside in the warm weather at dusk. When I set the boxes on an empty table, I left with the pull-cart as I went towards a bench near a tree to sit down. Still, I had to wait for the right moment as I saw Barnaby walking towards the table where the boxes were, for he was ready to eat what was in there.
"And the bakers made my cakes as promised, but we all know that the local pest with the affair babies had the gall to bring them here," he said snidely. "My potluck with all my friends will be a much greater one in which only healthy congregants are worthy in the eyes of the Lord."
It wasn't long until Barnaby went towards the larger box as he opened it up to reveal the cake that I baked earlier. The cake itself was shaped like a certain form of genitalia as it was made with a care in the form of homemade whipped frosting that I crafted onto it. The congregation were appalled by what they saw as Barnaby was left embarrassed with what was revealed. Even the locals outside the church were laughing at what was revealed as he later opened up the other boxes in which he saw the chocolate bundt cake that was shaped in the form of a poop emoji complete with a pair of candy eyes and frosting grin.
"Is this a joke?!" he cried as he was starting to blush with further embarrassment. What is the meaning of this mess in the form of vulgarity?! I demand to see who was responsible for going against a man of the cloth?!"
When he got to the last box, he opened it up as it revealed a large sheet cake with the frosting that was given to me as it had the words, "sorry about the herpes," in brown letters. The congregation was starting to laugh at him as they were more than likely to be getting the joke about what was sent to everyone earlier. With the congregation armed with their paper plates and plastic utensils, they began to dig into the sheet cake as they tasted the effort that was put into it. Even the people outside of the church went in and had a piece of cake as they couldn't get enough of it, for my personal stunt brought everyone together without any further problems.
"Don't eat it!" he cried. "Those cakes are faulty!"
"Really?" said Lyra as she was entering into the area where the congregation was at. "For the record, you've just gotten a taste of your own medicine just now."
"You did this to me, didn't you?! And to top it off, the local whore decided to make this mockery of desserts just to spite me."
"Don't you dare!" I yelled as I rushed to Lyra's aid. "Let me remind you that you're insulting the Dowager Empress who was married to one of this planet's former Emperors. As for the cakes that were baked, you were expecting the local bakery to give you what you wanted, but opted out after Lyra told them about how you were treating your local congregants and parishioners in your church. As for what is served here in the form of dirty humor, consider this to be a taste of your own medicine on how you treat the disabled for a long time. As for the cake that is shaped like a certain male genitalia, it's basically how you've been using snide remarks on how you bless the 'healthy' crowd instead of giving solace to those who have suffered the most. Everyone is welcome to be in the church, not those who don't give a damn about the suffering of the downtrodden."
"This isn't over, Sam! You'll be sorry that you ever crossed my path."
"Really? This is rich coming from the son of one of the landowners near this village," said Lyra as she was standing firm. "For the record, your tantrums have fallen on deaf ears in which there's no way you can recover from what got thrown in front of you in the form of baked goods. You can't cry yourself out on full Karen mode this time in which most of us have gotten fed up with your attitude towards the disabled and those who have fallen on hard times. You even had the gall to show up to the villa and even hurled insults at Sam and his family while you had the gall to make fun of that Ancient who was found in the Clampett. Your behavior won't be tolerated anymore because there will be a more kind and loving pastor who will fill your shoes and rid your stench here, for it's high time that we up and take out the trash!"
Barnaby was overwhelmed by his own hubris as he was humiliated by mine and Lyra's words in which the congregation began to turn on him. With some of them grabbing him, he was hurled into a pull-cart that was filled with manure as it was the final blow to his ego. Still, he was driven out of his place of operations in the form of baked goods as I was eager to have some cake after what happened earlier. When I got a piece of the first cake, I tasted what I made as it consisted of a white one with cherry filling put into it. Still, I didn't mind the sweet revenge against Barnaby as I also noticed the rest of the congregation digging into the cakes as they were a huge success in the form of a vulgar joke, for it was also a reminder to not harass the disabled or downtrodden in the future.
When Hugh rushed over to where the potluck was, he saw what I made as he later got a slice of cake in the form of a poop emoji in which he noticed the hazelnut spread ganache that was put in the middle of it. Still, the potluck was a success as everyone got into the cakes until there were a few slices left, for it was a success that went on its own accord. It was a funny way of getting such "just desserts" as the vulgar cakes proved to be coming together with such humor, for our local cleric got what was coming to him anyway.
"You must've had fun here," he said.
"We just gave our patron cleric a taste of his own medicine just now," I said.
"Dean would've been proud to see this."
"Still, I never wanted to bring vulgar material on consecrated ground, but Barnaby's snide remarks towards the disabled and downtrodden have crossed a line."
"From what I noticed, everyone loved the sheet cake that the words, 'sorry about the herpes,' written on it."
"The sheet cake was mainly a wacky chocolate cake in which I made after I ran out of eggs. Luckily, the consistency of having vinegar and baking soda as a leveling agent proved to be useful in which it was made with what was there."
"You've taken a page out of Shigeru's cake decorating just now."
"I know…"
I was starting to worry about Shigeru in general as I was fearing for the worst that was happening all over Alecrast. Still, his package for me proved to be useful as I wanted to thank him in person in which he was doing part in the opposition. By the time that the potluck was over and the cakes nearly polished off, I was looking at the dusk sky until I noticed a white crow perching on a lamppost. The presence of it was a bad omen as I couldn't shake it off in which I was also hoping for the opposition to put a damper on the plans of the Four Steward Houses, for their time of ruling Alecrast was slowly coming to an end…
Casey was exploring the kitchen as she noticed Guido washing the dishes in which it was his turn to do so. Even though she was still looking all over the villa, she wasn't about to leave his side as she decided to help out in the kitchen even though the cake pans were washed and cleaned earlier before Im left. When she saw the package of cake mixes and frostings, she wanted to know what was going on earlier as she was still curious about everything else, for she was still starting to slowly come out of her shell one slow step at a time.
"Who s-s-sent the c-c-cake m-m-mixes?" she asked.
"Sam has a friend on Alecrast who has a thing for cake, but he's been busy fighting against the Four Stewards," said Guido. "There's been some trouble on Alecrast in which there's been sightings of cold weather coming without warning."
"I-I-I've never b-b-been t-t-to Alecrast b-b-before…"
"From what I heard, there's been a huge shit show after the Zenith Vectors attacked the capital in which everyone is demanding the return for the Alecrian royal family, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears with a side order of bystanders getting their throats slit."
"S-s-so, Alecrast h-h-has g-g-gotten d-d-dangerous, h-h-hasn't it?"
"From what everyone said, the Four Stewards are out for blood in which they don't give a shit about the consequences for their actions. One of the members of House Arkhelios ended up kicking Reiko and causing her to miscarry in which he ended up getting arrested, only for Beryl Beauchamp to intervene by using blackmail against the Dowager Empress Sayaka. And do you know that bitch did by intervening? She threatened to disclose the Dowager's medical records in which that's one hell of a no-no and against the consent between doctors and patients. I know of this because I started out as a cop before joining the upper echelons of the Order."
It wasn't long until Guido heard the sound of footsteps approaching as he stopped what he was doing and left the kitchen to see what was going on. When he went towards the main hall, he saw me and Hugh with what was left of the cakes I baked as we were more than glad that Barnaby was given swift retaliation for his cruelty towards the disabled and downtrodden. Still, it was an ending that had a high note as I was also glad that the local cleric got what was coming to him in the form of baked goods, for the vulgar humor was the final nail in the coffin for his ego after all.
"You look as if you just won the lottery," he said.
"Barnaby got his ego bruised, but ended up excommunicated for his cruelty towards the disabled and downtrodden," said Hugh. "You should've seen his congregation tossing his ass in a pile of shit. It was hilarious!"
"What happened to him?"
"Well, our snide cleric got humiliated by the presence of baked goods gone wrong," I said with a smile on my face. "In the end of this debacle, he had it coming in which his entire congregation got rid of him in the form of getting tossed into a pull-cart full of manure."
"Come to think of it, you must've used the dick-shaped cake pan, didn't you?"
"Well, I did pull a dick move on Barnaby for imposing his fragile ego on the public in which he won't darken another doorway again."
"That's good to hear... Thankfully, he got his 'just desserts' for his misconduct..."
"The other cakes were funny in which the sheet cake was an artwork in itself despite the fact that I used baking soda and vinegar for a leveling agent into it. Still, Barnaby won't be showing his face in public after what he was doing in which his snide remarks towards the disabled and downtrodden were the last straw."
"It's about fucking time that he got his ass handed to him after what he did to not only Casey, but to you. At least he's got all that wallowing in shit to tide him over in which he should've thought twice not to use his ableism as a weapon."
"His snide remarks won't leave any sour taste in the mouths of all of us this time, for he will soon learn that his arrogance will end up being his downfall in the end."
And so, we were glad that the best was over as the time to call it a day was just a memory of what was yet to come. Still, we had fun, but we also had to be more compassionate towards those who have been the butt of any ableist joke, for it proved to be working in our favor after all…
To be continued...
