Story sticks to cannon at first with a few added extended scenes and ideas, will steer off course, because, yeah, what were they thinking. IMHO 2Dads should never have a storyline, too much time was devoted to developing new character/story lines in S4 & S5, and not enough to existing relationships, the relationships between Maxine/Mike/Ryan and Duchy/Madeline were too contrived.

Jim and Swain do not die in this story. Different take on how Mike and Kate first meet, and how they all deal with the unfolding events.
