"Flames of the Wind"
Chapter 1
Light and Shadows
Yellow.
The color of sunshine. It's associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy. Use to produce a warming effect and arouse cheerfulness.
"You will find the answer... I believe in you."
Red.
The color of fire and blood, so it is associated with strength, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. An intense color with even more reactions.
"Naruto… you're going to experience a lot of pain and suffering. Remember who you are! Find a goal… a dream… and don't stop trying until it comes true. There's… there's so much more that I want to say… to teach you… I want to stay with you… I love you."
Orange.
Combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, happiness, determination, and encouragement.
"I don't care who I have to fight! If he rips my arms out, I'll kick him to death! If he rips my legs off, I'll bite him to death! If he rips my head off, I'll stare him to death! And if he gouges out my eyes, I'll curse him from the grave! Even If I'm torn to shreds, I'm taking Sasuke back from Orochimaru!"
"I'm not gonna run away, I never go back on my word! That's my nindō: my ninja way!"
However, what happens when orange turns and fades...to black.
Naruto, Fourth Shinobi War
No Hope
He was finished and he knew it. He was surrounded by dead bodies each wearing different clothes—yet the same headband—Madara had won and Sasuke had betrayed him and Sakura, out of rage he killed him, but it was too late Kaguya had been revived and killed Kakashi and he himself had a large wound on his stomach, cuts and bruises on his body, but the pain from it he did not feel as the dying person in his arms was a pain that he never thought was possible as his heart clenched as he stared at his first crush and teammates, who was currently dying in his arms.
"W-w-why Na-ru-to."
"No Sakura-chan, stay with me please...don't leave me."
"Why'd he...do...this to me Naruto...I-I thought he l-loved me."
"N-no I love you not Sasuke, I swear."
"Oh, I-I'm sorry Naru..I guess this...is goodbye."
"Sakura...Sakura...Nooooo please... come back to me."
"DIE!"
Naruto
Naruto awoke abruptly, his chest heaving as though he had emerged from the tumultuous depths of a raging sea. Blinking against the harsh light, he found himself surrounded by the serenity of a meadow, a stark departure from the battlefields etched into his recent memory during the Fourth Great Shinobi War.
Dazed and disoriented, Naruto struggled to piece together the events that had led him to this unfamiliar place. Vivid recollections of the war flooded his mind—confrontations with formidable foes, the ache of loss, and the weariness of fighting for his village's survival.
However, the details of his arrival in this serene meadow remained elusive. Rising to his feet, Naruto realized he was no longer clad in battle-worn attire; instead, he wore unfamiliar garments adorned with glowing symbols. His questing hands discovered the absence of his ninja headband, amplifying the realization that he had traversed into an unknown realm.
As he explored the surroundings, Naruto stumbled upon a tranquil village nestled amid lush greenery. Villagers regarded him with a mix of curiosity and awe, sensing a latent power within him. The air resonated with an unspoken acknowledgment of his strength.
An elderly figure approached Naruto, a blend of reverence and caution in his eyes. "You are not from our lands, yet your presence here bears the marks of a warrior. Tell us, stranger, who are you, and from whence do you come?"
In the grip of confusion, Naruto shook his head. "I... I don't know. I was in the midst of a war, and now I find myself here. What is this place?" The elder's gaze penetrated Naruto's soul.
"You are in Eldoria, a realm untouched by the wars that plague your world. You carry a power within you, a force that can shape destinies. It is a power we have long waited for." As Naruto grappled with the elder's cryptic words, the villagers began to view him as a prophesied savior.
Unbeknownst to him, Eldoria had anticipated the arrival of a warrior capable of bringing balance to their unscathed world. Despite their gratitude, Naruto couldn't shake the weight of his war-torn past.
He found solace in Eldoria, yet an unspoken question lingered—was this an opportunity for redemption, a new purpose beyond the battles of his previous life?
As time unfolded the mysteries of Eldoria, Naruto's role in shaping its destiny became uncertain. Just as he pondered his place in this tranquil realm, time seemed to slow, and Naruto collapsed, leaving the villagers stunned.
The scene shifted abruptly, and Naruto awoke once again, this time in a mundane motel room. Morning light pierced through the curtains as he sat up, hands shielding his eyes from the brightness.
The weight of his past nightmares pressed upon him, memories of a life left behind. Naruto couldn't recall the transition to this new world after Kaguya's victory, but curiously, he found himself indifferent to the fate of his former world.
Exiting the shower, thoughts swirling, Naruto answered a knock at the door.
A disgruntled man stood there, clearly unimpressed by the disturbances from Naruto's room.
"So.." Naruto began, "How's your day been?" Naruto asked sheepishly while scratching the back of his head, a habit he brought over here with him.
With a sigh, Naruto allowed the man entry, acknowledging the consequences of his nocturnal activities. The motel owner confronted him, expressing frustration with the disruptive sounds echoing from Naruto's room. After a brief exchange, the owner declared the need for Naruto to leave. Naruto, with a knowing grin, agreed to depart after getting dressed. The owner's relief was palpable, unaware of the mischievous satisfaction etched on Naruto's face as he prepared to face a world that held both mystery and opportunity.
Vale, Southern District
The bustling city of Vale welcomed Naruto with a vibrant display of life. Tall skyscrapers stretched towards the sky, casting shadows over bustling streets adorned with neon lights and lively crowds. As he navigated through the urban maze, Naruto marveled at the technological marvels that surrounded him, a far cry from the villages and landscapes of his former world.
His destination, Junior's nightclub, loomed ahead, its entrance bathed in the glow of colorful signage. The rhythmic thump of music pulsated through the air, drawing him closer to the lively hotspot. Passing through the entrance, he was engulfed by a kaleidoscope of lights and the energetic beats of the music.
The atmosphere was electric, and Naruto couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement mingled with nostalgia. Amidst the dancing crowd, Naruto's sharp eyes scanned the room, seeking familiar faces.
It didn't take long for him to spot Junior, the burly man he once considered a father figure during his time in the city. Junior's imposing figure stood near the bar, overseeing the festivities.
Naruto approached, weaving through the energetic dancers, "Junior," he called out, a grin forming on his face as he reached the man. The burly figure turned, his stern expression softening into surprise and then recognition.
"Well, look who decided to drop by," Junior exclaimed, pulling Naruto into a hearty embrace. The warmth of their reunion resonated through the pulsating ambiance of the nightclub. "It's been too long, kid."
Naruto reciprocated the embrace, a flood of memories rushing back, "Yeah, life's been a wild ride, but I had to come back. Missed the chaos of this place." Junior chuckled, clapping Naruto on the shoulder. "You always did have a knack for finding trouble. Come on, let me get you a drink. We've got a lot to catch up on."
As they made their way to the bar, Naruto deliberately avoided the twins who had once been both allies and adversaries. He knew the complexities of their relationships all too well and preferred to steer clear of potential conflicts. The vibrant lights and the thumping music created a vivid backdrop for the reunion with Junior.
As they chatted over drinks, a familiar face caught Naruto's eye in the crowd. It was an old friend, someone he hadn't seen in months. Their eyes met across the crowded dance floor, and a silent understanding passed between them. Naruto excused himself from Junior's company, weaving through the lively crowd to reunite with this unexpected acquaintance.
"Long time no see," Naruto greeted with a warm smile as they embraced.
The friend, a fellow adventurer from his past, grinned in return, "Didn't expect to run into you here of all places," the friend remarked a hint of nostalgia in their voice.
Naruto shrugged, "Life has a way of bringing you back to unexpected places. How've you been?"
As they exchanged stories and reminisced about old adventures, the energy of Vale's nightlife pulsed around them. Naruto felt a sense of belonging and camaraderie, a welcome respite from the battles he had fought in his previous life. The city of Vale, with its dazzling lights and familiar faces, offered him a moment of peace and connection amid the swirling currents of his ever-changing journey.
In the dusky recesses of Junior's nightclub, Naruto and his longstanding comrade found a discreet nook away from the thumping beats of the dance floor. The ambient murmur of the club offered a subtle backdrop for their dialogue.
Naruto took a sip from his glass, the flickering neon lights casting ephemeral shadows upon his visage. He regarded his companion and the silent communion between old allies. Wearing a sly grin, she spoke, "Quite the locale you've chosen for our meeting, Naruto. Last I heard, you were on some noble quest, not mingling with the nightlife."
"Times shift, my friend. And so do folks. Speak of changes, how fares the mission?" He inquired, not one for small talk. Something that made his companion frown as she missed his company dearly.
"Intel's tricklin' in, but this one's elusive. Slippery as an eel. We've got watchful eyes everywhere, but he's adept at dwellin' in the shadows." Was her only response.
He took a sip of his drink before he began, "We need to unearth more. Anythin' that might aid us in bringin' him down without stirrin' unnecessary havoc. ANBU's reputation hangs in the balan-"
"ANBU? Thought you'd departed from that realm." She interrupted. She knew full well just what he was and who he was.
The fact he was willing to continue following in his predecessor's footsteps did not sit well with her.
Naruto leaned back, concealing his intensity, "Once ANBU, always ANBU. The battlefield is different now, but the skills and ties prove handy. Folks tend to underestimate the potency of shadows." He spoke in monotone.
Although, she couldn't help but agree. With the exception of the Vacuo Assassination Unit, most kingdoms such as Vale or Altas would prefer the more political route before admitting to dirtying their greedy hands.
They smirked knowingly, "Guess you've figured a way to make those shadows work for you, eh?"
Naruto donning a cryptic smile replied, "One could say that. We've woven a network, a lattice of eyes and ears. This is the sole means to navigate the intricacies of this city."
Leaning in as to hush their voice further, "What about the whispers, Naruto? Rumors circulating about a burgeoning force, hidden within Beacon Academy. Is that ANBU's handiwork?" She questioned, though from the look on his face.
This was a surprise to him as well. Naruto, though shaken, maintained his composure, "ANBU's existence is no longer official. But the deeds we undertook as ROOT, the shadows he cast, that's another tale. We're confronting someone who thrives on chaos, and we can't permit it to proliferate." He said.
Nodding sagely, she agreed, "Understood. We'll keep probing and ferret out who's yanking the strings. Won't be long before the city comprehends they're contending with more than mere hearsay."
Naruto raised his glass, prompting his guest to follow suit, "To the shadows, my friend. May they unveil the concealed and safeguard what is just."
As their glasses clinked, the familiar pair of operatives sustained their covert colloquy, delving into the mystery enshrouding the elusive figure lingering in the city's shadows. The confidences they exchanged remained carefully veiled, concealed beneath the semblance of casual camaraderie within the vibrant heart of the nightclub.
"Well, I wish you the best of luck. I have some business to attend to." And with that, he seemly vanish. As if he was never there to begin with.
Outskirts of Vale, Unknown
Darkness draped over the moonlit village, its cobblestone streets silent, save for the distant rustling of leaves. Naruto moved with the fluid grace of a shadow, his presence masked by the cloak of night. Cloaked in obsidian garb that absorbed the moonlight, he prowled through the village's outskirts, senses alert, and instincts honed to a razor's edge.
His mission: infiltrate the clandestine hideout of the notorious former ANBU operatives who had turned rogue.
Salem's insidious influence had penetrated even the most skilled ninjas, twisting them into weapons of deceit and destruction. Naruto's mission was to dismantle this network from within.
Scaling the walls with effortless agility, Naruto dropped into the shadows, his blue eyes gleaming in the dim light. The abandoned warehouse, a haven for the rogue ANBU, loomed ahead.
As he neared the entrance, a trio of masked figures emerged from the dark, each adorned with the emblem of the corrupted organization.
Naruto's instincts kicked in, and without hesitation, he vanished into a blur of motion. A symphony of blades clashed, and the night echoed with the clash of steel. The former comrades Naruto faced were skilled, their movements synchronized like a deadly dance.
However, Naruto's latent ninja abilities unfolded, his combat tactics weaving through their defenses like an intricate tapestry.
The first assailant lunged forward, a gleaming kunai in hand. Naruto sidestepped, seamlessly disarming the opponent with a swift strike. Without breaking momentum, he somersaulted, launching a barrage of precise kicks that sent the second rogue operative sprawling.
As the third operative closed in, Naruto's eyes gleamed with a steely resolve. His hand blurred, and a flurry of shuriken shot through the air, creating a metallic storm. The rogue ANBU, momentarily disoriented, succumbed to Naruto's swift assault. Yet, the dance of blades took an unexpected turn.
From the shadows, a shadowy figure emerged – it's presence melding seamlessly with the night. She moved with an elegance that mirrored Naruto's, her dark black hair cascading like a waterfall as she effortlessly decapitated the remaining rogue operatives.
"Naruto, you never change," a woman's voice, a whisper that cut through the night, reached him. Her ruby-colored eyes, glinting with a shared history, locked onto his.
Naruto, a wry smile playing on his lips, replied, "Raven, always at the right place and time." Their reunion was brief, as the echo of footsteps hinted at reinforcements closing in.
Naruto and Raven, attuned to each other's movements, melted back into the shadows, leaving behind a defeated trio of rogue ANBU operatives.
As they vanished into the night, Naruto and Raven shared a silent understanding. The shadows they navigated were treacherous, and their alliance was a glimmer of light amidst the encroaching darkness. Little did they know, the path ahead held challenges that would test not only their abilities but the very foundations of the clandestine world they sought to unravel.
The shadows whispered of betrayal, and Naruto and Raven were determined to unveil the veiled truths hidden within the folds of the night.
The abandoned warehouse stood as a decaying relic, its walls whispering echoes of a forgotten past. Moonlight filtered through the shattered windows, casting eerie shadows across the dusty floor.
Determined in their pursuit, they entered the derelict space their senses keenly attuned to the subtlest disturbances. Naruto's ancient eyes glowed ominously, transforming his gaze into a mesmerizing display of crimson and black.
The ethereal radiance illuminated their path as they ventured deeper into the darkness. Chakra signatures flickered in the shadows, remnants of their corrupted former ANBU trainer's presence.
As they reached the heart of the warehouse, a menacing silhouette materialized—an ominous figure shrouded in the remnants of ANBU garb, the embodiment of their once-mentor now tainted by malevolence.
The air crackled with tension as Raven, her eyes ablaze with electric energy, lunged forward with lightning-fast speed. Her movements were a blur, a dance of shadows and electricity. She unleashed a barrage of kunai, each imbued with a charge of crackling lightning. The ancient eyes of Naruto perceived the chakra surging through Raven's limbs, a symphony of electric power converging upon their target.
The corrupted trainer, swift and elusive, deflected Raven's assault with uncanny dexterity.
In response, Naruto, with preternatural clarity granted by his ancient eyes, anticipated the trainer's next move. A swift sidestep allowed him to evade a lethal strike aimed at his torso.
Seizing the moment, Naruto unleashed his own barrage of attacks. His hands moved in a blur, creating shadow clones that surrounded the corrupted trainer. Each clone bore the intensity of Naruto's heightened senses, predicting the trainer's every move with premonitory precision.
Raven, undeterred, conjured a storm of electric kunai, creating a lethal cage that closed in on the corrupted figure. The air vibrated with the potential for catastrophic release as the ancient eyes of Naruto perceived the buildup of chakra within their adversary.
The corrupted trainer, sensing the imminent danger, retaliated with a surge of dark chakra. Raven, with a lightning-fast flicker, dodged the attack, but the ancient eyes of Naruto detected a subtle disturbance—a second assault concealed within the first.
Reacting with instantaneous reflexes, Naruto intercepted the hidden strike, his movements guided by the predictive capabilities of his ancient eyes.
The corrupted trainer, caught off guard, staggered under the unexpected counterattack. With a synchronized assault, Naruto and Raven converged on the now-vulnerable trainer. Raven, channeling her lightning-infused sword, created a tempest of electric fury, while Naruto unleashed a Rasengan of intense chakra.
The resulting explosion echoed through the abandoned warehouse, its crumbling walls bearing witness to the clash of ancient eyes, electric storms, and the relentless pursuit of justice. As the dust settled, Naruto and Raven stood victorious, their determination unbroken amidst the remnants of shadows and betrayal.
Yet, the echoes of their battle resonated beyond the confines of the warehouse, heralding the challenges that lay ahead. The ancient eyes of Naruto, though powerful, hinted at a deeper mystery—a connection between his newfound abilities and the malevolent forces conspiring in the shadows.
