Chapter -1: Date
"EASY!" A boisterous laugh rang out as a young man with spiky pink hair threw his arms up in triumph. His onyx eyes sparkled with mischief, and his light skin was streaked with dirt, evidence of their latest adventure. He adjusted his white scale-patterned scarf—a treasured keepsake—as he grinned broadly. Dressed in baggy white pants, a black jacket with rolled-up sleeves, and a cloth tied around his waist, he exuded an air of carefree confidence.
This was Natsu Dragneel, a Dragon Slayer of Fairy Tail.
"Yeah, easy for a flamebrain," retorted a young man with dark, messy hair and piercing eyes. His tone dripped with sarcasm as he crossed his arms, seemingly unbothered by the fact that he wore nothing but pants despite the brisk breeze.
Gray Fullbuster.
"You're just jealous!" Natsu shot back, puffing out his chest like a proud cat who'd caught a mouse.
A heavy sigh escaped from the lips of a petite blonde with large brown eyes. Her voluptuous figure was accentuated by her simple yet stylish attire—a short skirt and sleeveless top that allowed freedom of movement.
"Really? You two need to quit it already. I want to go home, take a hot bath, and sleep. Not listen to you bicker like toddlers," she groaned, rubbing her temple.
Lucy Heartfilia, the group's voice of reason—or so she liked to believe.
Natsu smirked as he turned to her. "Don't be a pain, Luigi."
Lucy's eye twitched. "It's Lucy! Oh, you're just trying to piss me off!"
Her outburst only made Natsu laugh harder. He threw his hands behind his head, his carefree nature radiating from every fiber of his being.
The fourth member of their party stood quietly, a slight smile tugging at her lips as she watched the familiar chaos unfold. She was tall and graceful, with long scarlet hair that caught the sunlight like a living flame. Her striking brown eyes were warm yet commanding, a reflection of her strength and resolve. She wore intricately designed armor that gleamed with polished precision—a testament to both her skill and her meticulous nature.
This was Erza Scarlet, the heart of their team and, for many, its pillar of strength.
Her gaze lingered on Natsu for a moment, her smile deepening. Despite his antics, there was something about his unshakable spirit that never failed to brighten even her most somber thoughts.
"Alright, that's enough," she finally said, her tone calm yet authoritative. "Let's head back. You can settle this debate another time—preferably when it doesn't involve dragging me into it."
Natsu shot her a sheepish grin. "Aye, aye, Erza!"
Lucy groaned again but followed alongside the group, muttering something about "never getting a moment's peace." Gray rolled his eyes but trudged forward, while Natsu—still laughing to himself—strode confidently at the front, as if he had already forgotten the day's battles.
"Dark Guild? HA! What a bunch of losers!" Natsu crowed, a smirk plastered across his face. He tilted his head back, his laughter echoing through the quiet forest trail. "I need a real challenge!"
Gray sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Oh, here we go again. You'd think fighting a dozen wizards at once would be enough for one day, but nooo, not for the great Natsu Dragneel. Maybe if you stopped picking fights for five minutes, you wouldn't burn through every ounce of energy you've got."
"Hey!" Natsu shot back, a playful spark in his eyes. "I didn't burn every ounce. I could take another fight right now and still win!"
"Sure, until you pass out," Gray muttered under his breath.
Lucy, trailing a step behind, threw her hands up in exasperation. "I swear, you have a death wish! Not everyone's looking for a fight all the time, Natsu. Some of us actually value, you know, not being constantly on the verge of getting obliterated."
Natsu turned to look at her over his shoulder, grinning ear to ear. "C'mon, Luigi, you gotta admit it's more fun this way!"
Lucy's face turned red. "It's Lucy! And no, I don't! You're insane!"
Erza chuckled softly, drawing the group's attention. "Insanity or not, it's that drive of his that keeps us on our toes. But," she added, her tone shifting to something more serious, "don't underestimate dark guilds, Natsu. Some of them might surprise even you."
Her words hung in the air for a moment, stilling the usual chatter. Even Gray stopped mid-retort, casting a sidelong glance at Natsu. Erza's expression remained calm, but there was a steel edge in her voice—a reminder of the darker battles she had seen.
Natsu, however, remained unfazed. His trademark grin only widened, his sharp canines glinting as he waved a hand dismissively. "Yeah, yeah," he said, a spark of excitement flickering in his eyes. "That's the idea!"
Lucy groaned, dragging a hand down her face. "I should've known. Of course, you'd be looking for trouble."
"It's not trouble if I win," Natsu shot back confidently, his hands finding their usual place behind his head as he resumed walking. "Besides, I'm bored of the weaklings. I want someone strong—a fight I can actually feel!"
"You'll feel it alright," Gray muttered, smirking slightly. "Probably when you're eating dirt."
"Say that again, ice-brain!" Natsu spun around, flames sparking in his palms.
Gray smirked, taking a step forward as frost began to gather around his hands. "Gladly, flame-breath—"
"Enough."
Erza's voice cut through the brewing chaos like a blade, her stern tone freezing both of them in place. She crossed her arms, her sharp gaze daring them to continue. "We've just finished a mission. Fighting each other is hardly productive."
Natsu grumbled, reluctantly extinguishing his flames, while Gray shoved his hands into his pockets with a muttered, "Fine."
Erza nodded, satisfied. "Good. Let's move."
The group fell back into step, but the air between them felt lighter, the tension diffused. Lucy glanced at Erza with a small, grateful smile.
Still, Natsu's words lingered in her mind. That's the idea.
Erza glanced back at him, her brow furrowing slightly. He was laughing again, his carefree demeanor masking the fire that burned relentlessly in his heart—a desire for something more, something greater. She couldn't help but wonder if that ambition would one day lead them all into something far beyond what they were ready to face.
The sun dipped lower, and the shadows of the forest seemed to stretch longer, as if anticipating what lay ahead. Somewhere, in the gathering dusk, something stirred—drawn to the fiery recklessness of a certain Dragon Slayer.
As the group continued along the forest path, the light from the setting sun flickered through the trees, casting long, gentle shadows on the ground. Despite the earlier tension, there was a comfortable silence between them now. Lucy, Gray, and Natsu were lost in their usual back-and-forth banter, but Erza had slowed her pace, letting the others drift ahead a little.
She found herself walking beside Natsu, who was humming quietly, his usual loud demeanor subdued for once. His gaze was fixed on the horizon, and for a moment, he seemed far away—lost in thoughts of his own.
Erza glanced at him from the corner of her eye, watching the way the setting sun bathed his face in a warm, golden light. There was a softness about him in that moment, a fleeting vulnerability that she knew he rarely showed.
"You know, Natsu," Erza said quietly, her voice almost a whisper as she matched her stride with his, "sometimes I wonder if you ever think about... the future."
Natsu turned his head slightly, his expression confused. "What do you mean? Of course, I think about the future."
Erza smiled softly, but there was a touch of sadness in her eyes. "I don't mean the next fight or the next mission. I mean... life. After all the battles, after everything we've been through—what happens next?"
Natsu's brows furrowed slightly as he stopped walking, turning fully toward her. The others were still ahead, too far to notice. "You mean like... when we're not out there fighting?" He tilted his head, trying to grasp what she meant.
"Yes," Erza replied, her gaze softening as she looked at him. "What do you want, Natsu? After everything settles. Do you want a family? A home?"
The question caught Natsu off guard. For a moment, he looked uncomfortable, scratching the back of his head as he always did when faced with something serious. "I don't really know," he admitted, his eyes momentarily drifting to the ground as though searching for the right words. He let out a small chuckle, though it didn't quite reach his usual playful tone. "I think the beauty of the future is having an idea about it, but not knowing it. You know? It's like... not knowing exactly where you'll end up, but trusting that the journey will be worth it."
Erza studied him carefully, sensing the vulnerability in his voice, even if his words tried to hide it. "I suppose you're right," she said quietly, her tone softer now. "But... sometimes, it's hard to ignore the things you want to have in the future. The things you want to protect. The things you want to share."
Natsu's expression softened, his gaze dropping as he thought for a moment. "Well…" he began slowly, his voice quieter than usual, "Igneel once told me that 'Today' is a gift. That's why it's called a 'Present.' So I guess you're always meant to make the most of it, right? Get what you really want?"
Erza blinked, taken aback by his words. It wasn't like Natsu to be so reflective, so calm in his thoughts. The depth in his voice caught her by surprise.
"Your father…" she started, her voice quieter, her heart giving a small, painful tug at the mention of Igneel. "He sounds like a wise dragon."
Natsu nodded, though there was a far-off look in his eyes as he spoke. "Yeah… He was. But, uh, it's weird. I know he wanted me to go after what I want—he always pushed me to grow stronger, to never give up. But I still don't really know what it is that I want today, you know? What's the point of going after something you can't even name?"
Erza's eyes softened as she stepped closer, her gaze unwavering. "Sometimes, Natsu, it's not about having a clear picture of what you want, but about being open to the possibilities that each moment gives you. Maybe the future isn't something to chase after, but something to build, one day at a time."
Erza smiled gently, her eyes glimmering with a quiet warmth. "You know, sometimes it's nice to just... be with someone. To share a moment with them, without any of the distractions of the world around us."
Natsu looked at her, his brow furrowing slightly. "Be with someone? Like, a friend?" He scratched the back of his head, clearly not understanding the depth of her words yet.
Erza's smile remained, but there was something a little more playful in her expression now. "Something like that," she said softly, her voice carrying an edge of quiet hope. "But... not just as friends, Natsu."
The words hung in the air, but Natsu, still not quite catching on, simply nodded. "Yeah, I get it. Friends are important. You're one of my best friends, Erza."
There was a small pause as Erza took a deep breath, trying to figure out how to say it more directly. "Well... I was thinking—maybe we could... go out sometime?" Her voice trailed off, unsure if she'd said enough.
"Yeah sure, anytime Erza," Natsu responded casually, still oblivious to the deeper meaning behind her words.
Erza blinked, her face falling slightly as Natsu casually agreed without catching on. "Anytime?" she echoed, a frown tugging at the corners of her lips. "Natsu, I... I meant a date."
Natsu paused, his eyes still clueless, then smiled and gave a carefree nod. "Yeah, sounds good! We can go grab some food or something. Maybe try that new place down the street?" He chuckled. "I bet it's a great place for some fire food, right?"
Erza's smile returned, though it was tinged with amusement at his lack of understanding. "That would be lovely. How about tomorrow?" she responded, her tone light and teasing, trying to hide her growing affection.
"Yeah, that sounds good," Natsu agreed, still not realizing the full weight of what he was saying.
"Natsu…" Erza's tone became a little more serious, though her smile stayed. "Wear something nice. Not your battle attire, okay?"
Natsu scratched his head, still not fully understanding. "Ahh, sure? I guess I can try something else?" His grin was sheepish as he scratched the back of his neck.
Erza couldn't help but laugh softly at Natsu's obliviousness. It was endearing in its own way, though it made her realize just how much more she had to help him understand. She could see the genuine effort he was trying to put into it, even if he didn't quite grasp the full significance of the moment.
"Yes, something... a little more casual," she added, her voice playful. "Maybe something without holes or scorch marks?" She raised an eyebrow, giving him a teasing, yet affectionate, look.
Natsu grinned sheepishly. "Alright, alright! I can do that. I've got a few shirts that don't have holes in them, I think."
Erza smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. "Good. I'm looking forward to it," she said softly, her voice holding a hint of something more.
Just then, Gray and Lucy, who had been trailing behind, finally caught up. They stopped in their tracks, staring at the exchange between Natsu and Erza with wide eyes.
"Did—did Erza just ask Natsu out on a date?" Lucy whispered in shock, her hand covering her mouth in disbelief.
Gray's eyes were equally wide, his voice low as he added, "H-how did Flame Brain manage to get her attention? I thought Erza liked... girls, or just... cake."
Lucy raised an eyebrow at Gray's confused comment, then her gaze shifted back to Natsu and Erza, still processing what had just happened. "I don't know... but this is huge! Erza's never done this before!"
"What are you two blabbering about?" Natsu called out, noticing the murmuring behind him.
Erza giggled softly, clearly enjoying the teasing but letting them have their moment. She took a few steps ahead, walking a little further down the road, giving Natsu and the others space to talk.
Gray shook his head with a smirk, his tone laced with amusement. "Look at him, he has no idea."
Lucy laughed quietly, shaking her head as she watched Natsu obliviously march ahead. "Seriously, he's so clueless sometimes. Erza's asking him out on a date, and he thinks it's just... going to eat!"
"Don't remind me," Gray muttered with a grin, "I've never seen Erza like this before. She's really into him. The way she looks at him… it's different."
Lucy nodded thoughtfully. "Yeah, you can see it. I never thought she'd be the one to take the first step, but maybe that's just how she works. She's always so strong and composed, but with Natsu..."
Gray chuckled, his tone more teasing now. "Well, it's about time someone made a move. If he keeps acting like this, he might miss his shot."
At that, both of them turned their attention back to Natsu, who was still blissfully unaware of the significance of what had just happened.
"I guess we'll see," Lucy said with a knowing smile. "But hey, it's Erza. She knows what she's doing, even if Natsu doesn't."
At the Guild
The Mages entered the bustling guild hall, the usual chaos of clashing mugs, loud laughter, and boisterous arguments filling the air. Yet, Erza walked in front of them with an unusually excited smile, completely unfazed by the brawl happening in the corner. She handed the completed request form back to Master Makarov, who gave her a knowing nod before she turned and made her way toward the door.
"I'm heading home!" Erza called back, her voice cheerful, before she swiftly exited, her red armor clinking faintly as she walked away.
Lucy, still in shock from the earlier conversation with Natsu, made her way toward the 'girls' table,' where her friends were seated. Cana, Levy, Lisanna, Mira, Evergreen, and even little Wendy were gathered around, chatting animatedly.
"Girls! You're never gonna believe what just happened!" Lucy exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement and disbelief.
The table went silent for a moment as the girls looked up, waiting for her to elaborate.
"What happened, Lucy?" Levy asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Lucy took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart before spilling the beans. "Erza... asked Natsu out on a date!"
The reaction was immediate.
"What?!" Mira gasped, nearly spilling her drink.
"No way!" Lisanna's voice was full of surprise, her hands flying to her mouth in shock.
"Wait, Erza? Asking Natsu out?" Cana leaned back in her chair, raising an eyebrow, clearly trying to process what Lucy had just said. "I thought she'd never do that. She's always been so... serious about him."
Wendy blinked up at them, still not entirely sure what a "date" entailed, but she looked just as curious as the others.
"Is that really what happened?" Evergreen asked, her eyes narrowing as she observed Lucy's face. "I thought Natsu was still... well, Natsu."
Lucy nodded emphatically, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I swear! She asked him if he wanted to 'go out sometime,' but Natsu was so oblivious, he didn't even realize it was a date! It was like watching a train wreck, but adorable."
Cana chuckled, tapping her drink against the table. "Sounds like Natsu alright. But it's about time Erza made a move. Maybe she's tired of waiting for him to catch on."
Levy, always the more sensitive one, leaned forward with a thoughtful expression. "Erza really cares about him, doesn't she? It's nice to see her letting herself be a little more open, even if she's still keeping it a bit subtle."
Mira smiled warmly, her eyes soft. "I think they make a good pair. But it's going to be interesting to see how Natsu handles this."
Lisanna grinned teasingly. "Well, if he keeps acting clueless, I think we might have to intervene. It's going to be hard for Erza to keep her patience, especially with how much she's been holding back."
Lucy sighed dreamily. "I hope Natsu realizes how lucky he is. He's always been so focused on his training and fighting, but now... well, maybe this will make him see things a little differently."
"Erza is so strong," Wendy added shyly, looking up at her friends with a soft smile. "I think she deserves to be happy... and Natsu's so brave, I think they'd make each other happy."
The girls all nodded in agreement, each of them silently wishing for the best outcome for their friends.
Cana, ever the practical one, slammed her mug down on the table with determination. "We need to help Natsu! God, he won't know what to wear or what to say. This is going to be a disaster if we leave him to his own devices."
Levy blinked, her eyes widening with realization. "You're right. He's completely clueless when it comes to this stuff. We can't let Erza's date turn into a complete mess."
Mira grinned mischievously. "Exactly. It's time for a little intervention."
Wendy, her face brightening with excitement, clapped her hands together. "We should definitely help him! Maybe we can get him an outfit that's not too... Natsu."
Lisanna chuckled. "That's going to be a challenge."
Cana was already standing up, a wicked grin spreading across her face. "Alright, we'll talk to the boys. Let's make sure Natsu gets an outfit that doesn't have any scorch marks or rips. And maybe give him a few pointers on what not to say."
"I'll talk to Gray," Lucy volunteered, her voice filled with determination. "He'll know how to get through to Natsu."
"I'll go talk to Laxus. He owes me a favor, and if anyone can get Natsu to stop being so oblivious, it's him," Mira said, standing with a mischievous smile.
Levy smiled warmly, her fingers tapping the edge of the table as she thought. "I'll help with the outfit! I know a few places that sell nice clothes, and I'll make sure Natsu doesn't look like he's about to start a fight."
"Alright, it's settled!" Cana said, clapping her hands. "Operation Help Natsu has begun. We've got this!"
As the girls went off to execute their plan, each of them was filled with a mixture of excitement and hope. They all wanted to see Erza happy, and if helping Natsu get ready for his date was the way to do that, then they were more than willing to put in the effort.
The girls split off, each determined to do their part in ensuring Natsu didn't completely mess up his impending date with Erza.
Lucy made her way toward the bar where Gray was leaning against, his usual confident smirk in place. She took a deep breath before walking up to him, her voice casual but with an underlying urgency. "Gray, we need your help."
Gray raised an eyebrow, eyeing her warily. "With what? Are we about to go on another wild mission?"
Lucy hesitated for a moment, then said, "No, it's about Erza and Natsu's date. Remember? We need to help Natsu!"
"Yeah… you're kinda right, Erza might kill him."
"I don't think she would."
Gray raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at his lips. "Oh? You're right. Erza's too composed for that... but she might make his life a living hell if Natsu messes this up." He chuckled, clearly amused by the idea of Natsu unintentionally ruining the moment.
Lucy sighed, crossing her arms in exasperation. "Exactly. That's why we need to help him. He's completely oblivious to what's going on, and if we don't step in, he might show up in his usual fire-damaged clothes and act like it's just another day."
Gray looked at her thoughtfully, the playful glint in his eyes softening. "Alright, alright. I get it. What do you need from me?"
Lucy quickly outlined the plan. "We need to help him figure out what to wear, and maybe give him some advice on... well, how to act on a date. You know, Natsu is a little too casual about these things. Talk to the others. Mira will talk with Laxus, and don't you guys have a group or something?"
Gray nodded, his smirk turning into something more serious. "Yeah, we have a bit of a team going. I'll talk to the boys. We'll get Natsu sorted out—whether he likes it or not."
Lucy smiled in relief. "Thank you, Gray! This means a lot."
"No problem," he said, his tone light but genuine. "I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes. If nothing else, it'll be a lot of fun watching Natsu try to figure it out."
As Gray moved toward the rest of the guild, Lucy stood there for a moment, mentally preparing for the task ahead. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but she was determined to make sure Natsu didn't completely ruin his chance with Erza.
Meanwhile, Mira had already started her own mission to talk to Laxus. She found him lounging near the window, his usual relaxed demeanor on full display.
"Mira, what's up?" Laxus asked, glancing over at her with an intrigued look.
"I need your help with Natsu," Mira said, lowering her voice. "Erza asked him out, and he's completely oblivious. We need to make sure he doesn't mess this up."
Laxus raised an eyebrow. "Natsu? A date?" He let out a short laugh, clearly entertained by the thought. "This is going to be interesting. What do you need me to do?"
"Talk to him. Help him realize what's happening. Natsu's about as clueless as they come when it comes to these things," Mira said with a small smile, clearly amused by the situation.
Laxus chuckled, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Alright. I'm in. I'll have a chat with him."
Mira nodded in relief. "Thank you! We just need him to get it together for once. This could be a big moment for both of them."
Laxus leaned back in his chair, already thinking of ways to help Natsu understand. "I'll make sure he doesn't blow it. This will be fun."
The next day, Mira and Lisanna found themselves walking through the bustling streets of Magnolia, with Natsu tagging along behind them. The plan was simple: take him shopping, pick out a nice outfit, and make sure he didn't ruin his big chance with Erza. Of course, that wasn't as easy as it sounded.
Natsu was looking around with his usual excitement, a wide grin plastered on his face. "I don't get it. Why are we shopping? I have some casual clothes at home."
Lisanna sighed, shooting him a look of exasperation. "That's exactly why, Natsu! This isn't casual—it's a date!"
Natsu blinked at her, tilting his head as though the words didn't quite register. "A date? I mean, yeah, Erza said it's a date, but why can't I just wear my usual stuff? It's comfy."
Mira stepped in with a soft laugh, patting his shoulder. "Because, Natsu, this isn't about comfort—it's about making an effort. Erza went out of her way to ask you on a date. Don't you want to show her that you care?"
Natsu scratched his head, clearly conflicted but slowly starting to understand. "I guess… yeah, I do. But don't make me wear anything ridiculous, okay?"
Lisanna grinned, clasping her hands together in mock surprise. "Us? Ridiculous? Never!"
Mira giggled at her sister's teasing tone, then turned back to Natsu. "Don't worry, we'll keep it simple. Just trust us, okay?"
He sighed, knowing there was no way out of this. "Alright, alright. Lead the way."
Mira and Lisanna exchanged a mischievous glance as they led Natsu deeper into the boutique. The first outfit might have been simple, but this was their chance to have some fun.
"Okay, Natsu," Mira began, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "We'll try a few different styles to see what works best for you."
"Different styles?" Natsu repeated, already sounding suspicious. "You're not putting me in something weird, are you?"
"Of course not," Lisanna said with a grin that didn't quite match her reassuring tone. "Now, go try this on!"
She handed him a sleek black leather jacket, a fitted white t-shirt, and ripped jeans. Natsu raised an eyebrow but took the clothes, retreating into the dressing room once again. When he emerged, Mira and Lisanna burst into laughter—not because it looked bad, but because it was so different from his usual appearance.
"Oh my gosh, Natsu, you look like a rock star!" Lisanna said, covering her mouth to stifle her giggles.
Natsu frowned, tugging at the jacket. "It's tight, and these jeans feel... weird."
"It's supposed to be snug," Mira explained, her tone amused but genuine. "It's edgy, but... maybe not quite you."
"Next!" Lisanna declared, pulling him back toward the dressing room with another set of clothes in hand.
The second outfit was a preppy look: a pastel button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up, paired with tan chinos and loafers.
Natsu stepped out, his expression a mix of confusion and discomfort. "What even is this? I feel like a librarian."
Lisanna clapped her hands together. "You look so proper! It's cute."
Mira tilted her head, examining him thoughtfully. "It's nice, but it doesn't feel very Natsu. We want you to look good while still being yourself."
"Thank you," Natsu muttered, already unbuttoning the shirt. "This isn't me at all."
The next ensemble was a bold, high-fashion look: a deep red blazer over a black turtleneck, paired with tailored trousers and sleek dress shoes. Natsu walked out, looking so uncharacteristically refined that even he paused to blink at his reflection.
"Whoa," Lisanna said, momentarily speechless. "You look... kinda amazing."
Mira's smile widened. "This is definitely more impressive. It's a statement."
Natsu tugged at the turtleneck's collar, his face already starting to flush. "I feel like I'm choking. And what's with these shoes? They're so stiff."
"It's classy!" Lisanna said, but she could tell he was seconds away from bolting. "Alright, alright, let's try something else."
Finally, after several more attempts that ranged from casual streetwear to a full-on three-piece suit, which Natsu outright refused to come out in, they settled on something that struck the perfect balance.
Natsu emerged in a simple yet elegant outfit: a crisp white button-up shirt, a black vest, and well-fitted black pants. The sleeves of the shirt were rolled up slightly, giving him a relaxed yet polished look. Instead of dress shoes, they opted for sleek black boots, which Natsu found far more comfortable.
Both Mira and Lisanna gasped. "That's it!" Mira said, clapping her hands together. "You look incredible, Natsu."
Lisanna nodded enthusiastically. "It's just fancy enough to show you care, but it still feels like you. Erza's going to love it."
Natsu looked at his reflection, his usual grin returning. "Yeah, this isn't bad. I could move in this, too, in case... you know, something happens."
Lisanna sighed dramatically. "It's a date, Natsu, not a mission. No fighting!"
Mira laughed, adjusting the black vest slightly. "You look great. Just remember to be yourself, and everything will be fine."
Natsu gave them a sheepish smile, scratching the back of his head. "Alright, alright. Thanks for all this. I guess it's not so bad having you two boss me around."
"Anytime," Lisanna said with a wink. "Now, let's get you ready to sweep Erza off her feet!"
With his outfit sorted, Natsu and the girls made their way back to the guild. Mira and Lisanna couldn't help but fuss over the final details, like making sure his vest was perfectly straight and reminding him not to slouch. By the time they arrived, Natsu was starting to feel a mix of excitement and nervousness—a rare combination for him.
Inside the guild, the usual chaos reigned, but as soon as Natsu walked through the doors, there was a noticeable shift in the atmosphere.
"Whoa, Flame Brain cleans up nice!" Gray called out, a smirk tugging at his lips as he leaned against the bar.
"Looking sharp, Natsu!" Lucy added with a grin, giving him a thumbs-up.
"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up," Natsu muttered, his cheeks tinged with a faint blush.
Levy, sitting nearby with Gajeel, leaned forward with an approving nod. "You look great, Natsu. Erza's going to be impressed."
Mira clapped her hands together, her excitement bubbling over. "Alright, now all that's left is for you to meet Erza at the spot you agreed on. And remember—be polite, listen to what she says, and try not to burn anything."
"Or anyone," Lisanna added with a teasing grin.
Natsu scratched his head, clearly still feeling a bit out of his element. "Yeah, yeah, I got it. Just... be me, right?"
Mira smiled warmly. "Exactly. She asked you out because she likes you, Natsu. Just show her that you care."
At that moment, the guild doors creaked open, and all eyes turned as Erza walked in. She was wearing a stunning deep red dress that complemented her hair perfectly. The simple yet elegant design highlighted her natural beauty, and her usual armor was replaced by a delicate bracelet and necklace. She looked both powerful and graceful—a true sight to behold.
The room went silent for a moment before someone let out a low whistle.
"Wow," Lucy whispered, her eyes wide.
Even Natsu, who usually didn't notice these kinds of things, felt his heart skip a beat. He stared at her, momentarily forgetting how to speak.
Erza approached him, her expression soft but confident. "You look... very handsome, Natsu," she said, her voice gentle but with an edge of shyness that was rare for her.
Natsu blinked, then grinned widely. "You look amazing, Erza!"
A faint blush crept up Erza's cheeks, and she nodded. "Shall we go?"
"Yeah!" Natsu replied eagerly, offering her his arm.
As the two walked out of the guild together, a collective sigh swept through the room.
"They actually pulled it off," Gray said, shaking his head in disbelief.
"They're kind of cute, aren't they?" Lucy added, her voice filled with warmth.
"Yeah," Mira said, smiling as she watched them leave. "I think this is the start of something really special."
With Natsu and Erza
"So, uh, what do you want to do?" Natsu asked, scratching the back of his head as he glanced at Erza. She looked back at him with a soft smile, her crimson hair catching the golden light of the setting sun. He couldn't help but notice how radiant she looked—her makeup subtle but enough to enhance her natural beauty. Even her lips, touched with a light red lipstick, seemed more striking than usual.
"I have reservations for dinner at that new restaurant you mentioned," Erza replied, her voice steady and warm. "Afterward, we'll take a walk. The weather's perfect for it."
Natsu blinked, momentarily surprised. "Wait, you made reservations? I didn't even know you could do that so fast."
Erza's smile widened slightly, and there was a flicker of amusement in her eyes. "I planned ahead. A knight always prepares for the battlefield... or, in this case, a date."
Natsu chuckled, feeling more at ease. "Of course you'd say that." He grinned, his usual enthusiasm bubbling back. "Alright then, lead the way! I'm starving."
As they walked side by side toward the restaurant, Erza couldn't help but steal a glance at Natsu. Seeing him dressed up like this, his usual chaotic energy slightly tempered, felt... different. She was so used to the fiery determination he carried in battle or the loud, carefree way he approached life. But now, in this quieter moment, there was a side to him she hadn't seen before—a side that made her heart feel unexpectedly light.
She adjusted her stride to match his, keeping her composure even as she felt the faintest flutter in her chest. "Is this what it feels like?" she wondered. For all her confidence on the battlefield, this kind of vulnerability was unfamiliar territory. Yet, as uncertain as it was, it wasn't unpleasant. It was... refreshing.
As they arrived at the restaurant, the host greeted them and led them to their table. Erza felt a sense of satisfaction as she noticed Natsu's wide-eyed reaction to the warm, elegant ambiance of the place. She had chosen it with him in mind—a balance between casual and special, something he could enjoy without feeling out of place.
Sitting down, she allowed herself to relax slightly. The hardest part, she thought, was over. Now, she could focus on what truly mattered: spending time with him. She watched as he picked up the menu, his brow furrowing in concentration as he tried to decipher the unfamiliar dishes. It was such a small, simple thing, yet it brought a smile to her face.
"What's good here?" he asked, glancing up at her.
She let out a soft laugh, the sound surprising even herself. "I've heard the seafood is excellent," she said, her voice warm. "But you can't go wrong with anything here. Choose what you like."
Natsu grinned, the tension in his shoulders easing. "Seafood sounds good to me! Let's go for that."
As they placed their orders and the conversation continued, Erza found herself appreciating how natural it felt to be with him. They didn't need grand gestures or elaborate plans to fill the space; just the simple act of being together was enough. She noticed the way his eyes lit up when he talked about his latest adventures, the enthusiasm in his voice as he recounted even the smallest of details.
But more than that, she noticed the way he looked at her—not with awe or hesitation, but with the same genuine respect and warmth he had always shown her. It was grounding, and it reminded her why she had wanted this moment in the first place.
As the meal concluded and they stepped out into the crisp evening air, Erza felt a serene contentment settle over her. The city was alive around them, with the soft murmur of voices and the distant glow of lanterns creating an almost magical atmosphere. Yet, amidst it all, it felt as though they had carved out their own little world—a quiet space where nothing else mattered.
She glanced at Natsu as they strolled along the cobbled streets, the moonlight casting a silvery glow over his features. His usual boisterous energy seemed to have softened into something calmer, more reflective, and it warmed her heart.
"So… do you know any interesting places?" Erza asked, her voice light yet curious. "Outside of Magnolia, I mean?"
Natsu looked at her, his brow furrowing slightly in thought. "Depends," he said, a small grin tugging at his lips. "Do you like looking at stars?"
Erza blinked, caught off guard by the unexpected question. "Stars? I suppose I do," she admitted, her tone softening. "They're peaceful. A reminder of how vast the world is."
Natsu's grin widened, a flicker of excitement sparking in his eyes. "Then I've got the perfect spot. It's a little ways out, but it's worth it. You'll see more stars than you can count."
She raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "You sound confident. Lead the way."
With that, Natsu quickened his pace, a newfound energy driving him forward. Erza followed, her curiosity growing as they made their way through the outskirts of the city and into the open countryside. The noise of Magnolia faded into the background, replaced by the gentle hum of crickets and the rustle of leaves in the cool night breeze.
After a short hike, Natsu stopped at the crest of a small hill. He turned to Erza, his face lit with anticipation. "Alright, we're here."
Erza stepped up beside him, her breath catching as she took in the sight. The hill overlooked a vast, open plain, the horizon stretching endlessly under a sky ablaze with stars. Without the interference of the city lights, the constellations seemed brighter, more vivid, as though they were close enough to touch.
"This…" Erza's voice trailed off, her usual composure faltering as she gazed upward. Her lips parted slightly as she took in the dazzling expanse of stars stretching endlessly across the night sky. "This is incredible."
"Told ya," Natsu said, plopping down on the soft grass with his usual carefree ease. He leaned back on his hands, his gaze fixed on the glittering heavens above. A small, satisfied grin crossed his face. "No human city can beat the universe itself."
Erza turned her head slightly, her crimson hair falling over her shoulder as she regarded him with a mix of awe and admiration. There was something striking about the way he spoke—not in his usual loud and boisterous tone, but with quiet reverence, as though the stars held a special meaning for him.
"You're right," she murmured, lowering herself gracefully onto the grass beside him. Her gaze remained fixed on the endless stars above. "No matter how much we build or create, nothing compares to the vastness of the universe. It's humbling."
"And... in a way... motivating," Natsu added, his voice carrying a quiet enthusiasm that drew her attention.
"Motivating?" Erza turned to look at him, curiosity lighting her features. "How exactly?"
Erza listened intently, her mind processing Natsu's words as he leaned back, staring up at the vast sky. The way he saw the world was simple yet profound—an enthusiasm for life that stretched beyond the limitations of his past, of Fairy Tail, even of the universe itself.
"The world is big—really big," Natsu said, his voice carrying that same childlike excitement. "I know that much, even if I haven't seen all of it yet. And that's… it's thrilling, y'know? To think there's so much out there. So much to see, to do, to gain. Makes me wanna keep pushing forward."
Erza regarded him thoughtfully, her gaze shifting from Natsu's animated face to the night sky. There was something deeply inspiring about the way he viewed the unknown. The vastness of the universe didn't overwhelm him; it excited him. "You find inspiration in the unknown," she said quietly, more as an observation than a question.
"Yeah…" Natsu nodded with a grin, his eyes becoming distant for a moment. "Igneel told me stories—he was old, really old, older than humanity itself. He wasn't from this world. He traveled the Universe, even other realms, and would eat stars when he was hungry… Stars, Erza! Can you even imagine what that'd be like?"
Erza furrowed her brow, intrigued by his words but also a little skeptical. "How would that even work?"
"Magic," Natsu said with a grin, as though it was the simplest explanation. "The hierarchy of power goes WAY beyond what we know… like, we think destroying a city is a big deal, but there are beings that can erase moons. And there are beings who make those look basic."
Erza's eyes widened as she took in the weight of his words. It wasn't the first time she had heard Natsu speak with such conviction, but hearing him describe such immense power gave her a new perspective. "You really believe all of that, don't you?" she asked, her voice soft.
Natsu's expression grew serious, his gaze shifting to the horizon as if recalling something deep within him. "Yeah, I do. Igneel wasn't just a dragon. He was the dragon. He saw things I can't even imagine. He told me about places, realms, and beings so powerful they made dragons seem small. He always said I'd grow into my own strength, but… he'd always remind me that the more we understand the world, the more we realize how little we actually know. There's always more to discover."
Erza felt a twinge of awe at his words. The casual, fire-throwing Natsu she knew had layers she had only begun to peel back. There was wisdom in him—lessons from Igneel that were far more than just about battle or strength.
"Stars, huh?" she said, trying to lighten the mood with a smile, though her thoughts still lingered on the vast power Natsu described. "I guess they'd probably taste like… fire, knowing you."
Natsu chuckled, clearly enjoying her attempt at humor. "I sure hope so… but Igneel said they were more like 'plasma'? Something like that."
Erza raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk crossing her face. "Plasma? That's a bit more technical than I expected from you," she teased.
"Yeah, I don't really get it all," Natsu admitted, scratching the back of his head. "But Igneel said plasma's like a superheated gas. It's not just heat—it's energy. I think that's why he said it tastes different from regular fire. It's got its own magic, something beyond what we know."
Erza laughed softly, impressed. "I suppose that makes sense. Though, I'm still not sure how anyone could eat something like that." Her eyes drifted over to Natsu, who seemed genuinely fascinated by the idea, his excitement infectious.
"The Dragon's ability to eat their element gets more and more conceptual the more powerful they become," Natsu continued, clearly reveling in the subject. "Igneel could eat stars because stars are suns, and suns are closely connected to fire. It's not just fire, it's the essence of fire, you know?"
Erza nodded, feeling the weight of his words sink in. She had always known Natsu's connection to Igneel was special, but hearing about how deeply the dragon's power resonated within him gave her a new understanding of Natsu's strength. "I see. So, it's not just about fire, it's about the essence of fire itself—stars and suns… they're more connected to Igneel than I ever imagined."
Natsu smiled, his enthusiasm lighting up his face. "Exactly! Igneel was all about the connection between things. It wasn't just about breathing fire, it was about being one with it. That's why he could eat something as intense as a star. The fire of the star, the fire in his soul—they were connected."
Erza was silent for a moment, reflecting on the depth of Natsu's bond with Igneel. "That's incredible," she said softly. "I'm amazed by how much you've learned from him. Igneel didn't just teach you about power, he taught you about the universe itself."
Natsu's smile widened, pride filling his voice. "Yeah, he did. He taught me that there's always something bigger. There's always more to strive for. And that's what makes the journey exciting. You never know what's out there, or how much potential you have until you keep pushing forward."
Natsu leaned back, gazing up at the stars with a sense of wonder. "I want to see it myself," he said quietly, his voice filled with awe. "I want to feel the heat of a star. Fly through the void of space and travel through realms beyond our own."
Erza turned her gaze to him, a soft smile tugging at her lips. "That would be incredible, but… I think that would take a long time."
Natsu grinned, his usual excitement returning. "Well, then I should get myself some immortality, huh?"
Erza chuckled at his suggestion, shaking her head. "Immortality, huh? I don't think that's something you'd want. There's more to life than just living forever. You'd lose sight of what makes every moment meaningful."
Natsu's smile didn't falter. "Well, nothing truly lasts forever, not even the universe. But if we can get more, why not? Immortality would just become normal if you climbed high enough. Humans aren't the only mortal race... but we're the ones that complain about it the most, then say we don't want more. It's like we contradict ourselves."
Erza paused, her gaze thoughtful. Natsu's perspective, as usual, was full of layers. She hadn't expected him to consider immortality in such a way, especially with his usual carefree attitude. There was truth in what he said, though—humans often struggled with their own mortality, even as they chased for more time. But Erza knew the dangers of living too long without purpose.
"You make a fair point," Erza said after a moment, her voice softer now. "But I think it's the impermanence of things that gives them meaning. If everything lasted forever, would we truly appreciate it?"
Natsu's grin returned. "Maybe, but I'd still want to experience everything I can. There's too much out there to just let it slip away."
Erza looked at him, seeing a determination in his eyes. It was something she respected—Natsu's relentless desire to explore, to experience, to live fully, no matter what.
"You're always chasing something," she said, her smile a little more tender now.
Natsu looked up at the sky again, a thoughtful look crossing his face. "Yeah... I guess I am."
He looked back at her, "But enough about stars and the future, this is a Date right? We should ….talk about more 'date' things? I think?"
Erza raised an eyebrow, a faint blush coloring her cheeks at Natsu's sudden shift in tone. She hadn't expected him to bring up the subject so bluntly, but then again, this was Natsu—always saying what was on his mind, no matter how awkward the timing might be.
"Ah... right," she said, her voice a bit softer than usual as she glanced at him. "I suppose you're right. We should enjoy the moment for what it is."
Natsu scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "I don't really know what people usually talk about on dates… so I thought I'd ask. You know, to keep it... uh, normal."
Erza smiled warmly, her usual composure returning. "Well, for starters, it's okay to just talk about anything that makes us happy. Or maybe... tell me more about you. What do you like to do when you're not blowing things up or fighting?"
Natsu blinked, surprised by the question. He had never really thought about it. "You first." he said with a cheeky grin.
Erza smiled and giggled, "I …like dancing, more classical types."
Natsu's eyes widened slightly, clearly surprised by her answer. "Dancing? Classical? Huh, didn't see that coming."
Erza chuckled softly, her gaze drifting to the stars. "It's not something I usually talk about. But, yes, I enjoy it. There's something graceful and peaceful about it that I find relaxing. It helps me clear my mind, especially after a long day."
Natsu grinned, his curiosity piqued. "So, you're a dancer, huh? Never would've guessed. Bet you'd look amazing twirling around in a big dress or something."
Erza's cheeks flushed slightly at the compliment, though she maintained her calm composure. "I wouldn't say amazing, but I do enjoy it. Sometimes it's nice to do something that doesn't involve fighting or the usual duties of a knight."
She paused, her gaze shifting to Natsu. "So, what about you?"
Natsu fell quiet for a moment, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Music."
Erza raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "You… listen? Or do you play?"
Natsu chuckled softly. "A bit of both. A few years ago, Gildarts told me I needed a hobby that wasn't about setting things on fire. And, uh, I set his house on fire." He scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "So, he took me to a friend of his who had a studio. She made me try out a few instruments and even singing. Apparently, I wasn't half bad. Gildarts dragged me back there a few times, and eventually, I started enjoying it."
Erza blinked in surprise, her expression softening as she listened. "You? Music?" she said with a small smile. "I never would've guessed."
Natsu grinned, shrugging casually. "Yeah, neither did I at first. Gildarts probably thought it would help me focus my energy on something other than blowing stuff up. And, well… I guess it worked."
Erza laughed, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "I'm sure it did. So, what kind of music do you play?"
"Pretty much everything," Natsu said with a grin. "I picked up things pretty quickly. But the guitar's definitely my favorite. And… I'm actually pretty good at singing too, surprisingly. I didn't expect it, but it's kind of fun. Helps me get out all the stuff I don't really talk about."
Erza's smile grew, her eyes glinting with amusement. "I can't imagine you being shy about much."
Natsu leaned back, putting on a dramatic expression. "Hey, I've got my 'Insane Lunatic' act to keep up!" He threw his arms wide, as if presenting himself to an imaginary audience.
Erza chuckled, shaking her head. "Well, you certainly play the part well. But it's nice to know there's more to you than just the chaos."
Natsu grinned, shrugging nonchalantly. "Guess I've got my secrets, too."
The quiet moment hung between them, the soft rustle of the leaves the only sound breaking the night's calm. For once, it felt like they could just… be.
The night air had begun to chill, a crisp breeze brushing against their skin. Erza pulled her cloak a little tighter around her shoulders, a small shiver running down her spine. She glanced over at Natsu, his carefree attitude seemingly unaffected by the temperature.
"Isn't it getting a bit cold out here?" she asked, her voice soft but with a hint of teasing.
Natsu looked at her, his usual grin never wavering. "Cold? Nah, not for me. My fire magic keeps me warm." He shrugged casually, clearly unbothered by the drop in temperature.
Erza raised an eyebrow, smirking slightly. "Lucky you. You don't even feel it?"
"Not really. Fire's always with me, so I'm good," he said, crossing his arms behind his head as he leaned back, eyes still focused on the stars.
Erza gave him a sideways glance before sighing and pulling her cloak even tighter. "Well, I'm not as lucky as you, am I? I actually feel the cold." She chuckled softly, trying to make light of it, but it was clear that she was starting to feel the chill a bit more.
Natsu noticed her shiver and grinned, sitting up straight. "I could warm you up, you know." He waggled his eyebrows playfully.
Erza chuckled, shaking her head. "I'm sure that's not what you meant." But despite her teasing, she couldn't help but feel a little grateful for his presence, the warmth of his aura.
Natsu paused for a moment, then sat up and moved closer to her, offering his warmth more seriously this time. "Hey, if you're cold, you can get close to me. I won't bite, promise."
Erza hesitated for a moment, but then gave him a soft, amused smile. "You're ridiculous."
"But you like it," Natsu said with a grin, leaning back against the grass and patting the spot next to him. "Come on, it'll be more comfortable anyway."
After a brief pause, Erza finally gave in, settling down next to him, careful to leave just enough space between them to avoid making things awkward. The warmth radiating from Natsu's body was comforting, and she sighed in relief, feeling the heat start to ease her shivers.
They sat there in silence for a while, just gazing up at the stars. The night felt a little less cold now, but more importantly, it felt peaceful. The occasional breeze was no longer an uncomfortable chill, and the quiet between them felt comfortable, not awkward.
"You know," Natsu said quietly, his voice almost lost in the quiet night air, "it's weird, but this... this is nice."
Erza glanced over at him, her eyes softening. "Yeah, it is. It's nice to just... be with someone, without all the fighting or drama."
Natsu nodded, his voice quieter than usual. "Yeah."
Erza hesitated for a moment before speaking again, a hint of vulnerability in her tone. "I've never done this before, you know? Go on a date." She smiled slightly, a little embarrassed. "I even put on makeup for the first time."
Natsu blinked, his face lighting up with a bit of confusion. "I saw… You don't really need it, though," he said, his words coming out bluntly. "You're naturally beautiful."
Erza froze for a moment, her heart skipping a beat. She hadn't expected him to say that—especially not in the casual, unthinking way he had. She turned to look at him, her cheeks suddenly flushed, but there was a softness in her eyes that wasn't there before.
"Thanks," she replied, her voice quieter than usual. She didn't quite know how to respond, caught off guard by his sincerity. But it felt good to hear, especially from someone like Natsu.
He seemed to realize a moment later that he'd been too direct. "Ah, I—uh, I didn't mean to make things awkward," he stammered, scratching the back of his head. "I just meant you don't need makeup to look great. I think you're amazing just the way you are."
Erza let out a small laugh, shaking her head. "You're not making it awkward, Natsu," she reassured him, her voice gentle. "It's just... unexpected, that's all."
Natsu smiled, looking at her with a genuine warmth in his eyes. "Good. I wasn't sure if I messed up or something."
"No, you didn't," Erza said, her smile returning. "You just surprised me, that's all."
They sat in silence for a while, the air around them growing colder, but neither of them seemed to mind. The stars above them shone brightly, as if the universe itself was holding its breath, witnessing this quiet moment between the two of them.
The night grew quieter, the sounds of the city far away, leaving only the soft rustle of the wind and the distant hum of the world around them. The chill in the air crept through, but neither Erza nor Natsu seemed to care. They were wrapped up in the moment, the sky above them a blanket of stars, the weight of the world somehow lighter when shared in each other's presence.
Erza turned her head slightly, glancing at Natsu from the corner of her eye. He had his eyes fixed on the stars, his usual grin gone, replaced with a quiet serenity. She couldn't help but admire him in that moment—the way he could be so full of life, yet so at peace, so utterly himself.
For a long moment, she considered what she wanted to say next, but words felt unnecessary. What they had shared tonight, this simple, peaceful evening, was enough. It was more than enough.
Finally, unable to resist the pull of the moment, Erza shifted closer to him, her movements slow and deliberate. She could feel the warmth from his body, the fire that was always part of him, even on a cool night like this.
Without saying a word, she leaned in, her heart racing in her chest. She closed her eyes as their faces drew closer, and then, in the softest of motions, she pressed her lips to his.
It was gentle, a kiss filled with the unspoken emotions that had built up between them throughout the evening. The warmth of his lips was everything she had imagined and more, and for a moment, everything else faded away. There was no need for words, no need for anything more than the feeling of his presence, of the quiet connection they had forged tonight.
When they finally pulled away, Natsu's eyes were wide, his expression a mix of surprise and something else, something deeper that he couldn't quite put into words. Erza, on the other hand, couldn't suppress the soft smile that tugged at her lips, her heart racing in a way that was completely new to her.
"What? Was it bad—" she started to ask, her voice a little shaky from the unexpected rush of emotions, but before she could finish, Natsu's hand gently cupped her cheek, pulling her back into another kiss.
This time, it was different. It wasn't just a brief, lingering touch—it was deeper, more urgent, like both of them were trying to say everything they hadn't yet found the words for. The world around them seemed to disappear, leaving only the two of them, sharing something that felt both fragile and unspoken.
They pulled apart after a minute, both breathing a little heavier than before. Erza's smile was soft, but her eyes were filled with an unspoken challenge. "That was... unexpected?" she said, her voice barely above a whisper, though she wasn't sure if she was asking him or herself.
Natsu blinked, still a little caught off guard, his gaze shifting between her eyes and her lips. "I— I don't know why I did that," he admitted, his voice laced with uncertainty, but also something that sounded like relief.
Erza's smile deepened, her hand finding its way to his face once more, her thumb gently brushing over his cheek. "Well," she said softly, leaning in again, this time with more purpose, a hint of playfulness in her tone. "Neither do I."
And with that, she kissed him again, this time with a little more confidence. It was a kiss that held a sense of challenge, as though both of them were daring the other to take the next step, to push the boundaries of what they had started. The kiss deepened, growing more intense with each passing second, as if the quiet space between them was no longer enough.
Neither of them seemed to want to pull away. Erza's hands cradled his face, her fingers tracing the lines of his jaw, while his arms wrapped around her, pulling her closer. They moved together seamlessly, lost in the moment, their lips never separating for long, as if they were both discovering something new and thrilling. Neither of them was willing to let go, as if the world outside their embrace didn't matter anymore.
Minutes passed like that, neither of them keeping track of time, each kiss more heated than the last. They didn't need words anymore—the feeling between them was more than enough.
When they finally broke apart, the silence between them felt comfortable, peaceful, but also filled with a new kind of energy. They both sat there for a moment, catching their breath, their hearts still racing from the intimacy they had shared.
Natsu, still processing the whirlwind of emotions, stood up first, offering Erza his hand. "C'mon, I'll walk you home," he said softly, his voice steady but a little quieter than usual, as if trying to settle the whirlwind inside him.
Erza smiled, taking his hand and standing up as well. "Thanks," she said, her voice warm, her cheeks still slightly flushed from their earlier moments. She felt different, but in a way that was difficult to describe. There was something new between them now—something that was more than just the bond they'd always shared as friends.
They walked in comfortable silence for a while, the cool night air wrapping around them, the stars above still shining brightly. It was the kind of peaceful evening that made the world feel small and cozy, just the two of them walking side by side.
As they neared Fairy Hills, Erza looked back at Natsu with a smile. "I had a really good time tonight," she said, her voice soft, but sincere. "Thank you, Natsu."
Natsu smiled at her, the usual spark in his eyes returning. "Me too. I didn't think tonight would be like this, but I'm glad it was."
Erza smiled and stepped closer, summoning a cloth in her right hand. "Here," she said softly, "my lipstick's all over your lips."
Natsu blinked in surprise, a slight blush coloring his cheeks. He hadn't even thought about it, too caught up in the moment. He scratched the back of his head, chuckling awkwardly. "Oh... uh, thanks."
Erza, still smiling, gently wiped at his lips with the cloth she summoned, her fingers brushing lightly against his skin. The touch was soft, tender, and Natsu couldn't help but feel his heart race again. He was still trying to process everything that had just happened, the kiss, the way they were standing so close now.
When she finished, she met his eyes and smiled. "There. All better," she said, her voice quiet, yet teasing.
Natsu rubbed his lips absently, still a little flustered. "Guess I'm a mess, huh?"
"Just a little," Erza teased, her smile softening. "But I don't mind."
There was a brief, comfortable silence between them, and Natsu found himself leaning a little closer to her, as if he couldn't quite pull away. "So... um, I'll see you tomorrow, right?"
Erza nodded, her eyes meeting his with a mix of warmth and something else—something a little uncertain, but hopeful. "Of course. Tomorrow." She hesitated for a second before adding, "Goodnight, Natsu."
With a final smile, she turned and walked inside, leaving Natsu standing in front of the gate, still feeling the warmth of the moment lingering. He didn't move for a few moments, just standing there, letting it all settle in.
