Salutations everyone and Happy Year!
There hasn't been much news regarding the fandom, but hopefully we will get updates despite what may happen in 2025.
Also, Wishing a Happy Birthday to Blake Belladonna. Anyway, let's start with the first chapter for the New Year.
I do not own RWBY.
I am finally done.
It was late afternoon and Weiss already finished with her classes for the day. Weiss just left the library after completing an assignment for one of those classes.
While Weiss had no problem with focusing on her studies, given her attentive nature, there were more important things on her mind, like her new roommate. The woman was so immersed in her thoughts that she finds herself halfway to her apartment.
Weiss!
Hearing a familiar voice behind her, Weiss turn her head, but didn't see anyone.
Ruby? Weiss said.
Down here, Weiss, Ruby said.
When she looked down, Weiss saw not only Ruby, but a small dog looking up at her, their mouth slightly open with a tongue hanging out and panting rapidly.
The puppy in front of her was a corgi with black fur with white fur on their chest.
In Weiss's opinion, the dog was pretty cute already, but having the small fairy sitting on the back of said dog was beyond adorable.
Who is this? Weiss said, doing her best to hide her glee with her usual stoic face.
Oh! This is Zwei. He's a friend I made when I came to the human world, Ruby said as she flew from Zwei's back and meet Weiss at eye level. We were looking for a place where he can live.
..Are you.. are telling me…. that he's homeless?! Weiss said as she raised her voice gradually.
Hey, Zwei is pretty street smart. You should see him hustle for food, Ruby said. Besides, Zwei was kind enough to let me stay with him under a bridge where he was sleeping one time.
Wait, you didn't had a place to stay either? Weiss said in disbelief.
Well, fairies are supposed to find their own place to live in this world, Ruby said sheepishly. Before staying at your place, I was bouncing around, staying in different places.
Oh, brothers. I had no idea, Weiss said, who was mortified at the thought. So, I take it that the search has not been successful?
Not yet, Ruby said, shaking her head when an idea came in her mind. Hey, I don't supposed if Zwei can live with us?
….Ruby. You know that I am busy with school, Weiss said with a dejected expression. I also never had pets before, so I wouldn't be able to help, let alone take care of him.
Is that so? Ruby said, who was thinking about something before speaking. Well, what if you don't have to do it alone?
Eh? Weiss said with a surprised expression.
I can look after Zwei while you can focus on your classes, Ruby said, putting a hand to her chest. And I have experience with animals, so it's not a problem for me at all.
Both Ruby and Zwei were looking up at the white-haired woman with big, pleading eyes, Weiss's resolve crumbling.
…..I have to check my apartment's policy about pets, Weiss said with a sigh as she knew that she was outnumbered.
You hear that, Zwei! You can come home with us, Ruby said with an excited expression.
Arf Arf! Zwei said as the two of them were bouncing up and down.
As the dog reel his head out of joy, a coin seemingly come out of the dog's body, which was caught by the fairy.
Alright, I got it! Ruby said as she proudly holds up the coin in the air.
Meanwhile, Weiss was speechless at the surreal scene.
…Ok. Weiss said, blinking slowly. Hold on. I didn't know that the rule for helping others extend to animals.
Oh, silly. It doesn't matter if you are human, faunus, or animal, everybody needs help at one point, Ruby said. Although this wouldn't work with other fairies or their partners.
I-I see, Weiss said. Anyways, we should get back.
Ok, Ruby said as she lands on Zwei's head.
The three of them then make their way to the apartment.
[Later That Day]
Well, this was certainly a day of firsts, Weiss said.
After talking with the residence manager, she found that, to her delight, the apartment does allow pets, with conditions. Even if they wouldn't, it wouldn't be hard for the future businesswoman to persuade them to allow Zwei to stay.
Weiss was wearing her light blue nightgown, sitting on her bed. The woman could hear sounds from the bathroom as Ruby was giving Zwei a bath.
Ah! Zwei, Stop shaking! Ha Ha Ha!
Maybe, I should visit the headmaster, Weiss said. There were many things to unpack on top of learning about fairies.
After a few minutes, Ruby and Zwei entered the room. Ruby was wearing red pajamas. Walking beside her was Zwei with his shiny black fur from his bath.
Say Ruby. I want to talk to Headmaster Ozpin tomorrow. If it's ok with you, would you mind coming with me? Weiss said as Ruby reaches up to the table using Zwei like a stepladder.
Of course, Ruby said. And you don't worry about Zwei. He can take care of himself outside the apartment and come back home on his own.
Arf! Zwei answered.
Weiss learned from Ruby that fairies are able to communicate with other animals, which was both surprising and unsurprising to her.
Hey, Weiss. Thanks a lot for letting Zwei stay here, Ruby said as she gets comfortable on the bed that she brought out from her bag.
Of course, Weiss said, looking at the two with a gentle smile. If it is something that I can do, then I want to help.
As Weiss turn the lights off and crawl into bed,
Goodnight Weiss, Ruby said. Goodnight, Zwei.
Goodnight Ruby. Goodnight Zwei, Weiss said.
Arf, Zwei said before curling into the dog bed that Weiss brought earlier that day.
The three of them then slowly fall asleep.
[Meanwhile in the Same Afternoon]
It's good that today is not too hot.
Within the city, there were several places that Blake would go to whenever she wanted to relax, write, or read a book.
One of them was the park near Beacon University.
As she made her way to her spot in the park, she noticed something yellow at the corner of her eye near the bushes from a distance. When she strayed from the pavement and walked closer, she realized that it was the fairy that was staying at her place.
What are you doing, Yang? Blake said as she crouches down and saw that Yang was holding what looked a chained necklace with a blue stone as the centerpiece.
Just a second, Blake, Yang said as she uses her arms to throw the necklace over the bushes at a surprising long range. Blake could see that ornament flew seemingly towards a young man standing in the grass not far from them.
A man had long horns on his head, whom Blake deduced that he was a faunus.
The sound from necklace hitting the ground alerted the deer faunus, who looked down.
Thank goodness! The deer faunus said, who had an expression of pure relief as he picked up the necklace and held to his chest.
Unbeknownst to everyone except for Blake and Yang, A coin appear into the air from the faunus's body.
There it is, Yang said as she swiftly fly out before returning to the bushes with a coin held in both hands.
Yang, can you tell me what is going on? Blake said, who was confused by what she saw.
With a wry smile, Yang told her story that began a few minutes before Blake came.
According to the fairy, the deer faunus and a human were arguing about something when the man took something the necklace from the faunus's neck and threw it into a dense area full of trees and shrubs before running off. Yang was flying around when she witnessed the commotion. From how frantically the deer faunus was looking for the thing, the item was something that was important to him.
I can't believe this, Blake said in a low voice with an angry expression, her cat ears folded back.
While maintaining her distance, Yang dive into the bushes to help look for the necklace, which was not hard as the ornament was shiny enough for the fairy to spot it.
So that's what happened, Blake said. And from I saw, is that how it works with good deeds, with coins popping out of nowhere?
Yep, Yang said as she puts the coin in the bottle. After all, there are many ways to help someone.
..Well, that is good to know, Blake said.
The two then spent some time in the park, talking about their day while people watching until the sun was setting and head back home.
[Later That Night]
Blake was laying on her back, reading from a black book. On the table, Yang, who finished her bath, was drying her long, blonde hair with a towel.
Hey, Yang? Blake said, her eyes still on her book.
Yeah? Yang said, pausing to look at the cat faunus.
I wanted to thank you for helping that faunus, Blake said.
Ha? Why are you thanking me? Yang said, tilting her head in confusion.
I know that the person you helped today didn't know of your good deed, but I do, so I am thanking you on behalf of him, Blake said.
Oh, Yang said shyly with a slight pink on her cheeks. I mean it's no big deal since this is something I am doing to become an adult.
Even so, Blake said, chuckling at this side of the normally confident fairy. You know, I was hoping to show you more about the Faunus community, but I also want to know more about the fairies in this city. Do you have any plans tomorrow?
Nothing much other than my usual thing, Yang said. Why?
I have some time off tomorrow, so maybe you can show me places where other fairies go and meet your friends? Blake said.
Of course. Since you know about our secret, you should be able to see other fairies, Yang said with a smile.
Then, let's meet at the entrance at Beacon University around noon, Blake said to whom Yang nodded in agreement.
A hour later, the two decide to turn in for the night.
Night, Blake, Yang said as she climbs into her small bed.
Good night, Yang, Blake said, covering her lower half with the blanket.
For the four of them, the day ended on an ordinary, but interesting note.
