sword dragon and the phoenix -chapter 25-flames , plants and drinks
this chapter will cover the first round of the dark tourney with a few twists mainly that Shirou will be the trainer of team Urameshi
it will cover episodes 27-32 of yuyu hakusho as well as my own content mixed in
Shirou pov
I had recently learned what the dark tournament was our contacts in the yokai faction. It was a contest between yokai that was after Olympic games with wishes for the winning teams. East Asian billionaires aware of the moonlit world would gather yokai in the human world into teams. But every once in a while, they would force human teams that caused trouble to enter. I had a feeling Triumvirate Holdings aka the three emperors likely started but it was hard to connect them to anything. As for this time and why the games are happening now, it's likely a play Nero is making after losing his two allies.
I knew I couldn't fight on the team even as an alternate, but in an absolute worst case Hakufu was allowed and she would be coming after I went to the island with Yusuke and his team. The final member of the team was a short person known as the masked fighter, I had a vague idea who this person was and stopped at the fact it was a very short woman.
We were to travel by boat, the main reason I was chosen to be the team trainer was due to several powerful figures having heavy investments in the team. Ichigo was sure the soul society would likely want Kuwabara to do a job like the one he did before he lost his soul reaper powers, one of the devil lords had a huge investment in the plants Kurama was growing, my mistress cared about Yusuke and the leader of the fallen faction wanted to see exactly how Hiei's sacred gear would develop. The final reason was to scout yokai for recruitment into factions. All the work I was doing would help Ravel and the rest of the peerage.
We took a boat to the island of the tournament with lots of other Yokai also on this ship, I could only guess they were spectating on the event but not long after we left shore, the captain revealed this was a preliminary for other teams to get in. Yusuke passed out but I had the feeling he could defend himself even if he was sleeping. I wasn't allowed to fight in the main matches, but I could defend myself on the boat.
Ravel pov
It wasn't long Kuwabara's sister and Yusuke's girlfriend as well as Yukina confronted Boton at school about where Yusuke was, and I had to come in and reveal they were at the dark tournament and promised to teleport them with me to the island. I had planned to use the seats use the seat the devil lords used anyway and possibly box seats if needed as well. but we would figure that out when it came to it.
Shirou pov
The battle for preliminary match was decided by the masked fighter as she used Yusuke's spirit energy shotgun to take all comers out. but after that the other Yokai soon attacked us and I unleashed my platinum dragon aura to drive them away from me, each other member was able to take out Yokai and Yusuke was able to fight even in his sleep while complaining about his recent round of brutal training.
When we got to the hotel, a butler quickly took us to a suite and then I took the chance to make sure we were being watched or possibly poisoned. But while I was checking for traps, a yokai kid stuck into the room and introduced himself as a member of the team we would face in the first round. After that another member of the team entered the room and with that, I knew I needed to set up a bounded field to keep them out and I may need to take advantage of the extra room that was offered to just me. the member of the team that would likely need extra help was Kuwabara due to being the only pure human among us.
The first round was against Team Rokuyokai and owned by a Texas businessman with a Korean wife and they sent out the young boy yokai. At the same time, Ravel texted me with a note that she arrived with Keiko, Shizuru and Yukina. With Yusuke still passed out, I let Kuwabara decide the match format and leader of the other team started by showing off his fire skills and killed some of the yokai in the arena.
After that came the first match between Kuwabara against the young yokai Rinku and his spirit yoyos. But Kuwabara was able to counter with a second spirit sword. But in the end the Rinku was able to barely pull off the win by forcing the orange haired team member out of the ring just in time. I knew I would have to personally increase his training and teach him to change his spirit weapon into more forms after this tournament is over and I may have to share some of my failed weapons with him in future battles.
After that came Kurama's fight and the purple skinned Yokai claimed he had Kurama's mother hostage. but as some as he tried, I revealed to him "don't worry, the pact you made, promises your mother has two protectors at all times." After that Kurama said to me "after this fight is over you will give me the details on the protectors." It was after that; a plant burst out of the yokai's chest and left a flower covered body in his wake.
Then he came over to me and asked, "who are these protectors?" I replied, "the first is a queen rank devil Yubelluna, after that is your new stepfather and father of your future sibling Poseidon, he promised three years of protection and finally is his adopted son and legacy Tokiya Mikagami the deal makes sure your mother and future sibling will be kept safe for thirteen years." He replied to me "those terms are acceptable what happens to my sibling in thirteen years?" I replied "they will either go to camp half-blood or camp Jupiter and train further in their demigod abilities. I am personally leaning towards Jupiter due to my brother being there and her older brother planning to live there." He replied, "if my sibling has powers, I will help them cultivate said powers as well."
After the last battle ended so quickly, the team leader Zeru came out and Hiei stood to face him. With that I pulled out the camera that the fallen gave me, it wasn't just a camera, but it would also actively show the battle data and reading on both fighters. As the fight started Hiei figured out the blond yokai before him was a fire user. As the fox woman called the fight, I had to use a barrier to help her and said, "stay behind me, if you want to you can read the data off my screen." She then looked at it and said, "the fire power of Zeru is off the charts." Then Zeru called out Hiei's Jagan and sent attacks that the small yokai kept dodging.
In his next attack the yokai turned himself red hot and then speared Hiei with his hand. but as I checked the camera, I said to the fox lady "Hiei isn't dead the fire healed the damage the attack did. The combined power of the Jagan and his sacred gear absorbed most of the damage. Then the short Yokai's eye revealed itself and turned black and Hiei shouted "dragon of the darkness flame." I then said, "watch his right hand the sacred gear is reacting." The sky then started to fill with energy and said energy started to fill Hiei's body and gather around the hand with the sacred gear in it. After that it shot out and Zeru and all that was left of him was a black scorch mark on the wall in the shape of his body.
After Hiei won the match the other two members of the team freaked out and ran away but clearly into another fighter. A drunk-looking yokai with a mohawk and a bottle of something that looked like vodka came out in their place. He looked drunk as he wandered into the ring. The man soon revealed the other members of his team died and he was the alternate. As I checked the camera, I could tell this man had some connection to alcohol. He then called to start the fight, and Yusuke woke up to match him.
As Yusuke got into the ring, I could tell the crowd clearly hated him. After that we learned the man's name was Chu and he revealed he became the alternate due to losing paper rock scissors. After that we learned the man was a master of drunken boxing. Then as soon as he took a drink from his bottle Chu powered up and with that, I learned he was likely part of the same he part of the same family line as my campione lover but on the yokai side.
As the fight began, Chu began to move rapidly and wobbly and he soon got a good punch into Yusuke and sent him flying out of the ring. But Yusuke recovered and tried to hit Chu but failed to hit until the last minute. But then he got knocked out of the ring and nearly cost us the match but recovered at the last second to get back into the fight.
After that, the yokai pulled out a flask of what must have been yokai liquor called oni killer, if I had to guess it was based on the brew that weakened Shuten enough for Raikou to make the kill. As Chu chugged it, he soon powered up further. As an aura filled the arena, and not long after that Chu barfed. I guessed that it was expelling the poison from the booze to draw in its pure power.
As soon as the drunk yokai recovered he turned bright red and then the two had beam struggles. After that they switched to exchanging blows until Chu got some distance and used his blast and to counter Yusuke had to do a double spirit gun blast. But that only ripped through the drunk blast, and both ended up hit. As the announcer was about to call a draw, I shouted out "both are alive but not in good shape."
As the smoke cleared both were tired, shirtless and nearly out of power. After that both laughed out loud about how tired they were as Chu came up with a plane to end the fight. it was then Chu decided to settle the fight with a knife edge death match in which both would fight until one passed out in close quarters with knives preventing them from moving. In the end Yusuke won but barely via a good headbutt. But Yusuke didn't want to make the kill. The crowd wasn't happy, but my dragon aura was able to calm them down.
After that, the team got a day off and I learned Yusuke was having issues using his spirit power. I had the feeling his devil magic was starting to bloom and he was having an issue much like I did and would need a push to be able to access both. I just hoped it wouldn't be the same kind of push I needed.
After that, I got to see the battle against the team Yusuke would be facing next round and noticed they were humans with some kind of strange device on their backs. When I contacted the devil leadership, they wanted me to try and get any samples I could. After that I checked on Hiei to see his arm was hurt but recovering as he said to me, I think the dragon in my hand is starting to talk to me, but it is too quiet for me to understand.
After that I got to see younger Toguro fight alone revealed we were able to take down the other team with pure power in a five against one fight. He took use forty five percent power to take each member out in a single punch. With that we had to prepare for our next battle against the mad scientist yokai and his insane modified humans.

Next chapter will have our heroes face the modified humans under the yokai doctor but first ichigo will meet the dark side of the fullbringers
