sword dragon and the phoenix chapter 1 of gods, dragons and golden birds
This chapter will set up Shirou's story up to the 5th holy grail war before shortly after conception to the new characters he meets along the way.
pov will start with his mother.
I will also be adding on to some stuff for character never revealed in their main stories.
This won't get into much of the harem or mature stuff yet but the later chapters will and may be a little slower
Artemis pov
It was about a month ago during the Olympics in Japan, I wanted to see some of the events like many of my kin but the rare chance to hunt a Japanese monster came the legendary fox woman fragment Tamamo aria showed up. she then led me into a trap and the man to save me was Seijiro Suminoe. He was a decathlete that gave up his chance for gold to free me and give me the chance to kill the fox woman. In the battle against the fox woman, I learned the man was clearly a legacy of Vulcan due to having a knife that was a masterwork made from a mix of celestial bronze, imperial gold and tamahagane steel. Then a month later I discovered he appeared to me enough for me to have his child growing within me. This one wasn't the first and won't be the last, most of the time the girls would be left with their fathers until they hit their teens then given the choice to join my hunters, but the boys would have a harder fate of being left with their father.
But at a point when I was in Olympus, I felt a strange volt of divinity from my child. Then when I checked, it was a dragon with their own level of divinity, this dragon had to be a god from another pantheon or even other world. I knew other worlds existed besides just the various pocket realms for each god of other cultures. It wasn't long before I talked to the dragon within my child and said, "who are you and what do you want with my child?" the dragon replied "I am one from beyond the dimension gape from the forgotten realms of Faerûn. I came to this one to recover and I need your child to do so. I need a strong male to recover within due to a disaster in my world. If you must ask, I don't seek to hurt your child, I just seek to aid in his growth and help him become great. As for my name is it okay you can call me Grandmaster of Flowers until I find fully absorb the identity of the dragon that bore my name that I overtook."
I replied to the dragon, "I will let you do as you wish as long you make sure my child finds people that can help him reach that point of greatness no matter what. I don't need to know your true name yet but when you can say it and my child is able to meet me in person, please tell me." the dragon then said "I will do my best to guide the fates of those that can help him the best I can. But now I must sleep and recover. When the time comes, he will awaken my personal sacred gear the Bracers of Balance, unlike those the god of Israel made they won't be able to kill you or your kin. I can also help prevent this child from burning out early like many other legacy demigods have before." With that I never heard the dragon's voice again even after I had my brother help deliver my child and have him taken to his father. I also worried my son could have the same issue as the child I had with Orion and would truly be remembered as a hero.
Ravel pov
I had to run away or join my brother Raiser's peerage. So, I ran to Fuyuki, but I didn't figure out until I arrived in the city it was in the middle of a holy grail war with kidnappers and me not fully mastering my abilities other that regeneration. That was to say I ended up kidnapped by a serial killer and his twisted servant and was tortured and then left in a state that I couldn't fully heal. It took a boy to save me and take the brunt of what happens when a cursed grail is shattered by a holy sword, it exploded in fire and destroyed a massive part of the city. But the boy got me out and dragged me through the city until two men came to save the two of us from the mix cursed and holy fire. One knew enough to insert what seemed like a scabbard into the boy and the other much more muscular man told the other "don't take either to a medical facility. I can heal them myself and both children have qualities we wouldn't want people outside the Moonlit world to see. Then a hood on the large man burnt away to reveal pointed ears as I passed out.
It was a few days after that, I woke up and learned my savior lost his memory only to take the first name Shirou and choose to take the family name of the less muscular rescuer, a man named Kiritsugu Emiya, and the other larger man was named Halsin, and he also took the family name Emiya. It was soon after that I learned Halsin was an elf that was born in Alfheim but left there to travel the world and grow over several hundred years ago. He had long overcome the weaknesses of the rest of his kind as he wondered Midgard. Halsin told us our other savior Kiritsugu had a curse placed on him and wouldn't last very much longer and that's why he added both Shirou and the elf to his family as a way for Shirou to have family beyond his death.
Shirou pov
For a few years, I lived with my newly adopted father and uncle and friend Ravel. Kiritsugu would leave from time to time and only say he was trying to save somebody left behind. but when he would return the man would be more and more broken. In time he stopped going on trips and stayed and home as I asked him what he was doing and hoped to do. He ended up telling me he was trying to be a hero using magic. After a while I broken the man down and convinced him to me magic. but when Halsin helped the broken man, he learned I had much more magical potential than even most mages at the clock tower. He didn't give the details, but soon started to train me almost immediately. But the man lamented on how much his style wasn't the most compatible with what I could fully do and how his knowledge couldn't come close to helping me reach said potential.
He soon started to teach me the basics, but his body didn't last long, so he left my training in the hands of Halsin and left him with a way to attempt to create a magic crest out of his remains. In Kiritsugu's last breath he told me that he had a daughter before the grail war that cost me nearly everything and said daughter was left behind with her evil family and likely being manipulated in some way and there was a chance she may return to Fuyuki for revenge. He then willed everything to Halsin and I with instructions on how my magical training could continue.
In my training with Halsin, I learned he was very good at runes but never reached the point of full mastery. the elf male explained the reason why was due to training more in druidic and monk arts. He then explained after leaving the man of elves and the Vanir gods, that he lived on the British Isles with the druids at least until their culture felt to pieces. After that he traveled the world until reaching China and then training as a monk there and living among them until the Mongols came and he left to stop their advance in Japan. From that point he lived in Japan and stayed with a group of monks that died in the fire.
He also explained to me a the little he could figure out about the nature of my magic. he explained I had a mix of divine ability and draconic ability mixed in. he didn't fully know the nature of each but guessed one of my parents was a moon god and mentioned my magical specialties at this point were enhancement, fire, swords, and moon. but was able to teach me a little of his rune magic as well as. He couldn't teach me as much as transforming into a bear like he could but was able to teach me how to use nature to heal myself and others beyond the natural healing I already had. At that time, Halsin revealed how little about those kinds of magic either him or Kiritsugu knew about.
It was after that I asked the large jovial elf "have you ever wanted to go back to your homeland to see your family." He replied "I would like to see how my brother Alderman turned out but I would need the best sunglasses to even visit that place and my family would likely not even recognize me anymore. I wouldn't even recognize my brother since he was a baby when I left and I have grown and changed so much since that time.
It wasn't long after that Ravel fully opened to me and revealed she wasn't human but a devil of the Phenix clan and had a level of immortality. At first, I believed devils were evil and stole souls, but she explained most weren't evil just self-serving and they no longer used to take souls. She explained most devils were no better or worse than most humans now a days. She then told me her reason for ending up in Fuyuki was to avoid having to marry either one of her brothers or end up in another political marriage. Then explained she was from a noble devil family and said families constantly ended up in political struggles.
I told her I would help her get out of all that any way I could, but I wasn't sure how right now. The girl replied with "when the time is right would you be willing to join me as a reborn devil?" I said that I would and hoped we could teach each other magic the best we could. It was soon after that she started middle school at Kou a city away and told me, "I told the other devils there will be able to help solve my political issues and teach me what it is to be a devil." I would stay at Fuyuki for now but join her when I ended up starting high school.
As she went to Kou middle school, Ravel met with the two devils from major families to help her learn more about being a devil and to get some of the things she needed as a devil from a noble family. While I was in school all my training made me a star athlete but the sports club, I most got into was archery. Both Kiritsugu and Halsin made sure I would never enter major competitions due to a magus showing off being a bad thing. I knew that I constantly felt my deeds charmed many girls, but I knew I held Ravel above any others. I was waiting to go to Kou for High school and currently went to Fuyuki middle school right now.
Sadly, my magic training wasn't progressing well due to the overall lack of good teachers in Japan except the one my father told me to avoid if possible. That man was Kirei Kotomine, and my father mostly told me to avoid him due to him being with the church and may even go after both Ravel and Halsin if I let him too close to them.
One thing Halsin did know about was of many different gods and factions among the moonlit worlds. he would tell me all about the how many of the factions still had active forces and cultures keeping them from fading away with many of them having moved their factions to the United state of America. But said power bases had moved many times with western culture. He told me the best place to cross between the worlds of the Norse factions was Boston and both the Greek and Egyptian factions had bases in New York city. Then the roman faction had a base in San Francisco. But he also told me there are active Aztec, Hindu, Korean, Cuban and many other active factions for other cultures.
He told me one of my parents had to be a god from one of those factions but with so many moon gods it was difficult to tell which one unless they claimed me, or a family member came to find me and reveal who was my divine parent. He also said "there's also a chance one of your parents may also be a dragon but that would be hard to figure out as well. You could just have a sacred gear that holds a dragon, but I don't know enough about sacred gear to tell you how to figure if you have one or how to unleash it. That's more the kind of stuff Ravel or the other devils at Kou could help you with.
It was a little longer and I ended up going to Kou as one of the few one two percent of male students in the school as I learned only recently became co-ed this year due to the two devil families having male members of their peerages and families. So far Ravel would be the third pure blood devil to attend. After meeting with said devils, Rais and Sona, they figured I did have a sacred gear, but its exact nature couldn't be figured out until I awaken to it. As I learned it could be either nothing of merit or a Longinus level gear but until I figure out how to awaken it, I wouldn't know. They also could fully figure out the nature of all my magical abilities and if any could be connected to the sacred gear or not. There were still many things that the pair of older devils would reveal to me until the proper time, but they did say two of the other boys within the high school division were devils and soon enough another would be joining in the elementary division. But again, I think they were waiting until the time was right to reveal more to me.
It was a few more weeks through helping with various repairs throughout the school I got Sona to reveal to me by mistake that there was a growing schism within the Greek faction. One she didn't know the cause of, but it may cause problems that spread out among the other factions soon enough. It took a chess game for me to learn that Greek faction members would sometimes join other factions or even world powers.
About two months later, I discovered strange symbols on my hands and after going over my adopted father's notes learned a holy grail war was about to begin. Then Sona arranged for me to transfer to Fuyuki high school until the war ended.
Chapter end
This story ends during ichigo's last year of middle school and right before The Battle of the Labyrinth and The Red Pyramid takes place in the Percy Jackson timeline. The holy grail war will have a few more twists with it and its aftermath. Some characters along the Egyptian and Greek faction mentioned and at a few different masters. But I will dive more into that as I get into the chapter.
This story ends before high school dxd main story takes place and the second arc will follow dxd mostly but will add other elements as well.
Next chapter will start the holy grail war proper.
But first Ichigo and his friends will see just how helpful the captains can be against the espada
