The Rest of the Christmas Pranks Chapter 24:

Despite numerous attempts, the Hogwarts staff hadn't been able to determine who was responsible for the prank, although they'd their suspicions. But although it was tempting to punish those whom they thought were responsible, they knew it wouldn't be fair. One of the biggest challenges in determining the pranksters, was that Hogwarts had more than one group of pranksters roaming about, pranking.

And so, the days continued.

On Friday 18th, students coming out of bathrooms were subjected to water, which made their skin change colour when drying.

On Saturday 19th, couples kissing under mistletoes, even those who weren't couples, got sawdust sprinkled over them.

On Sunday 20th, everyone who was foolish enough to take a cookie from the plate on the banister of the staircase leading towards Third Floor, ended up with tongues double their size, and in a different colour.

On Monday 21st, the flowers on the tapestry of third floor sprouted out and occasionally grabbed a random passer-by.

On Tuesday 22nd, some girls had their perfumes swapped out with one that smelled bad to everyone but themselves.

On Thursday 23rd, there seemed to be, at first, no pranks whatsoever. But that was just a clever ruse. Some of the older male students used eau de cologne and other aftershave products. Even if they didn't have any facial hair whatsoever. Now, these aftershave products, not everyone, that would've been too difficult, had been spiked. They'd been spiked with a neat little Muggle concoction that coloured their chins in all the colours of Hogwarts.

On Friday 24th, people finding themselves alone in each of the Common rooms, became aware of some shadows that suggested that they were not alone. However, every time they looked over their shoulders or around, there was no one else but themselves there. The Common Rooms in the Ravenclaw and the Gryffindor Towers had all the windows closed, yet the shadows were moving. The Common Rooms of Slytherin and Hufflepuff were only dimly lit, and the windows of the Hufflepuff Common Room were closed to ward of the chill, yet the shadows were strongly defined. This went on for a considerable time, until they finally realized that it was the candlesticks and chandeliers that'd been enchanted to make the shadows.

On Saturday 25th, flames in random fireplaces turned to such a convincing green colour, that people were shocked when no one came out of them, and no one was speaking out of them.

On Sunday 26th, the flames in the sconces, in the corridors of the Southern Wing of the fourth floor, created words. Words that created terrifying sentences. Sentences that… was discovered to come from a poetry book; The Heart's a Phoenix by Vero Triste, a very popular wizard poet known for his depressing and dark poems.

On Monday 27th, water coming out of random taps in random bathrooms, were first avoiding the hands of the users, then splashing them in the face.

On Tuesday 28th, people at the Astronomy Tower were the only ones experiencing normal weather, or normal wind, at least. The Greenhouses got a soft breeze, the basements a howling storm, the Transfiguration classroom got small outbursts of tornados, there was a hurricane in the DADA classroom (didn't last long), Charms experienced a prolonged period of different winds (helped by the enthusiastic Professor Flitwick) and the History of Magic, got a gale, that still didn't ruffle Professor Binns' feathers (nothing ever did). Like with Charms, the rest of the school also experienced different winds, but they weren't prolonged or helped by a Professor. The only one beside Professor Flitwick who seemed to enjoy the different winds, was Peeves.

On Wednesday 29th, blueberry, strawberry and raspberry, in short, normal Muggle plants, sprouted from the wooden staircases.

On Thursday 30th, books being consulted in the Herbology lessons were making so much noise when being opened that Professor Longbottom suggested that they have a book-free lesson (not that they often had lessons with their books open; Herbology had always been more of a hands-on Subject).

On Friday 1st of December, books were changing from one to another. For example, if you'd Fantastic Beasts and where to find them, it would change into Quidditch Through the Ages.

On Saturday 2nd, the bricks between the DADA classroom and the Advanced Arithmancy Studies classroom rearranged themselves and created a portal that opened half into DADA and half into Advanced Arithmancy.

On Sunday 3rd, there was no pranks. Every student that was leaving Hogwarts for the Holidays, were busy packing.

They wouldn't leave before the 18th, but they packed because of three things; one, you could never be sure these days when there would be a prank, that two, would make it impossible to pack later, or at the very least affect the things you wished to pack. Especially since three, it already had been a prank that affected the things people wished to pack.

The days leading up to the 18th were uneventful compared to the other days, but still filled with pranks, nonetheless.

It had everyone on so high alert, that no one took a good look at their fellow students. If they had, they would have easily found which First-Years were responsible.

Author's notes:

Firstly; I'm not dead!

It's just been super busy with school ... and stuff.

Secondly; If you want to guess the names of the responsible pranksters, I'm not going to stop you. But my lips are sealed until the Chapter titled "Exposed".

Thirdly; I hope you've enjoyed this chapter.

And fourthly; Vero Triste is a made-up character.

In the next chapter:

You can just come and visit us anytime. I'm sure Mom will be happy to know that I have at least one mild-mannered friend.

Please, it's boring here without you.
