Floo Powder Trip Chapter 37:

'So, how will we travel?' Elizaveta asked as they went towards the fireplace.

'Floo Powder, obviously.'

'What's Floo Powder?'

'Muggles don't travel with Floo Powder?'

'Well, I certainly never have. How do you do it?'

'Perhaps I should go first.' hr. Beilschmidt suggested. 'To demonstrate.'

'Yes, I think that's a good idea.'

'First, I take a pinch of Floo Powder,' hr. Beilschmidt started, putting his hand in a small bag attached to the fireplace, 'just a pinch, no more. My pinch is naturally bigger than your pinch will be, however this is in keeping with Floo Powder regulations, as the amount of Floo Powder being used should be in proportion with the user. Now that I've the appropriate amount of Floo Powder I step in the fireplace. The next step is to throw down the powder and state your destination. Make sure that you enunciate the name of your destination properly; history is full of people who ended up in a completely different place because they didn't. And only one of those examples ended in a happily ever after. Once you've thrown down your pinch and recited your destination; try to relax. It doesn't necessarily help but it does make it more comfortable when you get slung from one fireplace to the next. Once you've landed in your fireplace, step out. There will be other people who want to use the same fireplace.'

Having thus given his speech, hr. Beilschmidt proceeded to do just that.

'That was fun!' Elizaveta said about her first Floo experience as she stepped out of the fireplace in the "Bagshot", a pub for wizard-travellers who was going further than one simple fireplace would take them and needed a subtle and quicker route than a portkey. There were four fireplaces there: one fireplace for incoming and one for outgoing, within the borders of the British Isles, and one fireplace for incoming and one for outgoing across borders.

'You know,' hr. Beilschmidt started, 'most people who travel with the Floo the first time, coughs and sputters. Not to mention stumbles out of the fireplace they arrive in.'

'Well, Eliza isn't most people, father.' Gilbert arriving just behind said. He looked a little queasy.

There was the potential of a whole discussion, but just then Ludwig came and then frau Beilschmidt.

They hurried towards the fireplace for outgoing across borders. That fireplace was one of the bigger ones, so they all fit in.

With a whispered incantation of,

'Beilschmidt Villa.'

They were off.
